Both elves peered up at the hole the gun made in the ceiling. Even if it made a godawful amount of noise, it might actually scare her enemies to death. Although the way Kira dealt with Claudette would have also been useful. Svana lamented her lack of magic, but she had more than enough piss and vinegar to make up for it on the battlefield.

"So it's a ranged weapon. How far away before the...bullet...fails to reach the target?" Baldur asked, wondering if it could outshoot an arrow.

There was a lot she didn't understand about the gun, though. "What is it shooting? How do I get more?" she asked, eyeing it. "All weapons require maintenance?"

"What is the mechanism that makes it so loud?" Baldur followed up.

"Bullets," Kira supplied. "I don't know what makes it so loud. You'd have to ask Claudette. I assume she has more."

Suddenly furious, Kira rounds on Sherith. "Is that the same family you believe to be lying to you? Why would you want to see them?" She snapped, and then lazily snarled, "You amuse me. What more reason is there? But if you want to leave, fine."

"Because I have to know the truth. If they've been lying to me, I want to know why. If they haven't been lying, they deserve to know that I doubted them. And if they haven't been lying, then it's likely they will sincerely worry about me," Sherith tries to explain, though she's not sure how much good this will do, since most of what she's said since she's gotten here hasn't had much effect on...well...anyone.

Veiris waited for Claudette to finish digging around her bag. He noticed the blush deepen on her cheeks but didn’t comment. He wasn’t sure if she wanted it brought up, not in front of the others- mostly the Immortal.

When she pulled out the firefly, he stared at it in fascination. He could see the small white thread that wove through and around everything. All he had to do was reach out and grab the loose end, hold it until a bond formed, and the light magic the creature had would be his. Or at least, he would be able to copy it. He felt the urge grow within him, as it did with every un-Bonded animal he met. He wondered if that urge was anything like the addiction the monks spoke of before.

“He creates light and luck. Great magic to have around,” Veiris commented, pushing away the urge to reach out for the thread he could see. The firefly was Claudette’s. While they weren’t bonded, it was considered rude to bond with another’s animal. He looked at it briefly before Serith took interest.

He bowed slightly at her compliment, “Thank you. But there are downsides with any accomplishment. And no, no one can speak the language. It was never spoken, only written. Intricate knots that cannot be taught or learned. Shifters jut know.” He always felt strange explaining it to anyone who wasn’t a Shifter. The language was inherent just like seeing the white threads and understanding the creatures around him. “The tattoos are Tarin’s Ink, a blessing or a curse depending on what stories you believe,” he continued.

Veiris kept switching his gaze between the firefly and Claudette before settling on the woman. “And you, you must be a very accomplished warrior. You handle that blade better than I’ve seen some Shifters hand a shift.”

Before the conversation could continue, he felt the room turn to freezing then warm again. He turned quickly to look at the other magic user in the room, seeing her tattoos burn different colors. “What in the name of…” his exclamation was cut off by a loud crack of thunder and splinters falling from the ceiling.

Vieris reacted immediately, jumping back and away from the table and the sound. He was already in partial-shift by the time his feet touched the ground behind his chair. His eyes were once again eagle yellow and the white and blue feathers blended with his hair. But now, sharp claws extended from his fingers and two large wings sprouted through two holes in his shirt and fanned out, pushing his jacket out and up to give them room.

He looked over to Claudette to make sure she was unharmed just in time to see her fall unconscious. “Claudette!” he shouted, bounding over the table to her. He glared at Kira, having seen her tattoos light up. “What did you do?” he demanded. He was finding it harder and harder to hold back the griffin’s instincts and the accompanying lightning. He wasn’t out of control, but he hadn’t been this close for a time. It made him wish he hadn’t stayed in this strange place once he realized it wasn’t the Black Coral.

Svana and Baldur both stayed out of the oncoming scuffle. Kira wasn't about to be stopped. Leaning toward the scarred up male elf, Svana asked, "Care to make it interesting? My orc and your werewolf as stakes. I bet it'll last ten seconds."

"Nah, I say a whole minute."

They clasped hands briefly and then sat back to watch it unfold.

Instead, something else unfolds. Well, it doesn't unfold so much as the door simply slams open. A gust of warm air bursts in and a woman makes her entrance. To some, she might be considered tall for her gender, standing at 6'2". Her hair is a deep shade of red and pulled back in a pony tail. Her eyes are a bright green color, not the kind you usually would see in a human face, though the roundness of her limbs and ears would indicated a human. Swarthy skin shows signs of being in the sun. She wears armor that is made of leather and dyed in greens and browns. One of her hands reaches to close the door; the other holds a sword with a slight curve at the tip. Almost belatedly, she realizes that she's someplace unfamiliar.

"Well, now, that was unexpected."
