"I'm not." Marshall said with a snort. "It's just.." He faltered for a moment, groping around for the right words. He wasn't against being one..he just failed to see how he could be one. "I've been alive for sixteen years now. Don't you think I would know it by now? You know..turned into a dragon or something at least once?" He sighed softly, slumping down in his chair slightly. "I just don't think you're right is all.."

Once again Seth suppressed his laughter. he didn't want Marshall to think he was laughing at him. "It's not that easy kid. You can only shift to your true form when puberty hits and even then you have to have someone to show you how. I imagine you've discovered a few of you lesser powers by now?" he pressed, looking at the teen expectantly.

Lesser powers? Marshall wondered if Seth was talking about things like his water trick and the chameleon trick. Nobody else that Marshall had ever run across could do those things. Except that old man that had claimed to be a wizard. But that had been with fire. Was it the same thing? Marshall didn't know. But he did know that he wasn't going to give anything away just yet. "What kind of lesser powers?" he asked, curious.

With a grin, Seth lifted his hand. And with a flick of his wrist he gathered water from the air around them and sent it dancing around the boy, spiraling it upward, he gathered more and formed a dragon out of the droplets, watching the boy closely for a reaction.

Marshall watched this display curiously for a moment. He thought about acting totally surprised about it, but then figured he wouldn't pull it off well enough. Instead he lifted his hand and pulled the water to him, distorting it's shape back into a blob. "Yeah, I can do that." he said. "So what? I traveled with this guy for a while that could do the same thing with fire. It's no big deal."

Throwing his head back, Seth let out a shout of laughter. "Trust me kid, you're a demon. it may take some time to teach you to shift to your true form, but we will worry about that later. For now come on, you need your bath and then I need to introduce you to Master Lucid." he stated, and rose from his seat in one fluid motion. He motioned for the boy to follow him and strode quickly through the hallways. Finally spotting the odd doorway that opened into the darkness, he started down the steep steps that led further into the pitch black.

Marshall didn't hesitate at the dark opening that Seth disappeared into. He simply followed Seth, trusting that he'd be safe. He could actually see rather well in the darkness and was able to keep up with the demon. "Why do you call him Master?" he asked. He'd wondered since the first time the guy had been mentioned, but hadn't thought to ask until now.

Seth paused on the stairs at Marshall's question before continuing on with a shrug of his broad shoulders. "Old habit I suppose. It's also a title befitting his station, as he is a master vampire. An ancient of his race and I expect you to address him in the same manner." he added softly, finally stepping onto the solid ground of the under chambers. Moving through the maze of tunnels he paused in front of the door that led to Lucid's private chambers and waved his hand once more, setting the only torch that resided by the door ablaze. As the light flickered, he eyes the door and then the boy. Knowing it was probably best to scare the s**t out of the kid now then later when he was alone, he stepped back. "Well...go ahead and knock." he ordered, waving the boy forward.

Marshall gave Seth a frown, then shook his head. There was something about this door that struck Marshall the wrong way. It was the same feeling he'd gotten once while attempting to steal something from the house of a noble. The item had been a relic, he'd found out later, that absorbed the thoughts and energy of anyone that touched it with their bare hands. He'd since then trusted that sixth sense with all of his heart. He wasn't about to touch this door, not even with a ten foot long stick. "I'm not touching that door." he said quietly. "There's something wrong with it." He took a step back, his gaze on the door, just in case it did anything strange.

Once again Seth let out a shout of laughter. God, if the kid was good for nothing else he was good for a laugh, he thought now. "A very wise decision, though there is nothing actually wrong with it...it's just a little...shall we say different." he added and stepped forward. Instead of knocking he simply lay he hand against the dark wood and watched, fascinated as he always was when it pulsed and rippled with power. Withdrawing his hand he waited for the "life of the door" to show itself.

The 'life of the door' indeed, though that wasn't what it was called. It was called Yoruri, and it was an enchantment that had been placed upon this particular door when the door was first made. The door became animated abruptly, a face forming in the wood. The face was that of a middle aged man. His eyes flicked from Seth to Marshall, then back to Seth. "The vampire left a moment ago to run an errand. He left strict instructions that no one is allowed in until he has returned and unlocked me himself." the face said shortly, then shifted it's gaze between the two again. A small smile tugged the corners of the mouth up. "Breaking in the newbie, eh?"

"Indeed, thank you." Seth answered formally. If there was anything in the castle you didn't want to get into a verbal battle with it was this door. He glanced at Marshall briefly, then returned his gaze to the face that animated the dark wood. "We shall return later then, after young Marshall here bathes." he stated and turned to face the teen, dismissing the door for now. "All right then, now that that is out of the way, to the pools."

Seth McKay Watching her, Julian actually struggled not to laugh, the girl was a definite oddity and he still wasn't quite sure what to think of her. Striding forward, he went to brush past her and paused. Looking over at her, he looked her over, his pale blue eyes darkening slightly. "You should not be so trusting." he whispered, his voice holding a slight edge. He spoke softly as he was only a few scant inches away from her. he debated with himself for a moment, wandering if perhaps he should give her an example of what he meant. Solaria cocked her head and perked another eyebrow at her companion. A smirk crept on her lips. Stepping closer to Julian, she reduced the distance between them to merely an inch or so. "You should take your own advice." she said in a whisper that matched the tone of his.
"'You should not be so trusting.' You never know who you are dealing with. And to invite a stranger to your own quarters?" For a split second, one could be sure that Solaria's blood red eyes had glowed before it returned to its dark red color. "Tsk. Tsk." Offering an angelic smile, she stepped a few inches away from him.
"We really should get going. It's not very good to be wasting all this time just talking. Shall we?" she asked, the brightness in her voice returning.

Ali let a soft moan escape her lips as she slowly stirred from her deep slumber. She slowly lifted herself to a sitting position, stretching her arms to the extent of their reach. She stood and slowly dressed herself. Walking to the door, she rubbed the sleep from the corner of her eyes. Ali felt so at peace here at the Haven. She gently made her way down to the bar to eat, hoping that she would have company this day. She had spent so much time alone over the past few months that she desired a little companionship. Maybe she would run into Gabriel, he seemed to be very interesting and she truly enjoyed his company.

Marshall gave the door a wary look, then slide along the opposite wall. He kept as close to the wall as he could to avoid the strange door. Once he was past it, he made his way further into the tunnel, waiting in the dark for Seth once he was far enough away. In his mind, the door was just creepy. Normal doors didn't have faces, nor did they talk.
