My cat understood English perfectly, without the obscene need for ridiculous phrases. Whether or not she listened was entirely up for debate.

I wanted a warm bath. I started to run water for a warm bath. Then the hot water knob fell off and water started shooting out of the hole where it should have been. Then I tried to put the knob back. Then I stuck my finger in the hole... then I tried the knob again. Then I called my mommy and whined while still trying to screw the damned knob back on and keep water from shooting outta the wall. Then my Mommy called the landlord and waked her up for me. Then the landlord called her mommy and waked her up. Then we went in the basement and turned knobs on the water pipes. Then we went outside to get to a new part of the basement and turn water pipe knobs there. Then we saw that the water was off to not only my bathroom, but the whole house. The damn knob still wouldn't go back on. The landlord's mommy is gonna come try and fix it tomorrow morning. Moral of the story... don't break the bathtub.
