"Child?" Sure he looked young, but he was pretty sure he had made it clear..or maybbe he had taken that in the wrong idea..maybe not.

He rubbed at his chin. "That's highly likely. But he sure wasn't that prepared for it, if he has had to wait all this time to strick back at us." by us he meant his family. he smiled though. "Well, i doubt I'd be any key. Father had little interest in the sons he was able to sire."

She merely shrugged lightly like it was no big deal to her. "It's all about proportions A'mael. There's just far too much when food is prepared here." And that was a good enough answer for her indeed. "So then, shadow knight, ranger, priestess, run mage, hunter, and possesser? Sounds like a good team to me alright." A little chuckle from her to follow up. Then a look at Din. "Din never underestimate the word 'key'. Ever."

"not to mention from three different planar origins. we should be quite a formidable adversary. as to your sire, Mr. Sparrow..it was probably planned. and decades and centuries more of planning, learning, studying. I'd sya he was a drow if I didn't know better."

A motion to one of the souless, bringing it to him.

"These are products of his plans. a beig without soul, with all the free will of a termite. they do have a dangerous aspect to them, which is why thier collars are specially designed. I learn that from dead drow spirits that an ally brought agasint our mutual enemy in a rather foolhardy way in my opinion."

A motion for it to return to it's duties.

"Now, consdiering your relation, you may be a potential target, or, someone immune to his anger. IF he knows about you, you're probably a target. if he assumes you dead or too weak to worry about, you may offer insight and not be on his hit list, so to speak. another reason to bring you to the oracle. she can't see what he does, the dead are beyond her reaching vision. so any insights into his workings, living or dead, may be of great use in combating him and his legions."

"Different planes..." He scratched at his scalp. "Eca had runs ins from Planes-Men before. She was really frightened of them fo some reason>" He squinted his eyes and tilted his head up. "Now why was that..."

A look at the slave. "Being without a soul....creepy."

He waved a hand. "I'm not important enough tow rry about, although i doubt father knows of my existance. he enver stuck around, you know."

"Efficent and intimidating...I think that will due quite nicely." Another little chuckle from her as she more or less pictured it in her head some. Though a look to Din. "I do know that Meilikki hates plans crossing. I swear I get fussed out about it just about every time I see that woman." But that was fixed now with that gate of thiers, no more fabric disruption. Then a shrug. "He may very well Din, from what we know the Oracle was used to do some future snooping."

Was she actually listening to this man? Of course being that he was a Master he probably did have some sort of idea of what he was talking about...right? Nah. Probably not. Or worse, he knew exactly what he was doing and he was feeding her a bunch of stuff to keep her happy so she didn't question why she wasn't learning anything she could use. Zahara wasn't stupid. First of all, she didnt' trust Sevilin. So when he told her to cut herself she had wondered. Now he wanted her to do what? Use her blood to make this symbol. Alright...she'd do it. But if it didn't do anything then there was going to be more blood, and it wasn't going to be hers. She used her fingers to coat them in the wet sticky substance, then studied the symbol on Nym's head a moment and carefully copied it twice onto her wrist in her own blood. Another slit, requiring her to once again remover her daggers was made. This one slightly larger since she did it faster and her dagger went back into its sheath while she copied the now memorized symbol onto her palm so it covered the entire width of it. She studied the bloody marks and waited....but nothing seemed to be happening. A glare up at Sevilin, "It's not doing anything."

He set his jaw as his arms crossed and he rolled his eyes. "They're runes...working without command is not thier job and if you were patient for five seconds more you would know that by me telling you. But you're impatient so now you get to hear the irritation as well that you boil in me. Now shut up and pay attention." Oh she was going to drive him to a melt down.

And thusly he gave himself a moment to calm a little before his instructions were given, a little petting at Nym to help the calming effect along. "Now, think of you healing teachings...don't activate them, don't speak of them, don't utter a syllable to them. Just think on how it feels to activate them, but again, don't. Concentrate on the runes and try to make them have that feeling. Just the runes, no activating your innate abilities." Yeah it was supposed to be hard.

If she hadn't seen him work his runes and felt their effects herself she'd swear this guy was a fake. Heal but don't? What kind of request was that? She shot an annoyed look at his reprimand but nodded. "I'm sorry. I'll try to be more patient." Ok, now it was time to actually follow what he had said. The first thing one had to understand about magic was the differences between offensive and defensive. Offensive was simply point and shoot, so to speak. But healing and defensive were conjured from within. The caster had to physically reach within themselves and harness the energy they used to heal or throw up a barrier. Of course knowing the spell and repeating the correct words was a part of it as well, as it was with any spell. But he was telling her to harness the energy, not cast the spell. Not too hard. She just had to concentrate. Violet eyes disappeared behind closed lids and she reached deep down until she felt that ball of energy she always did. Phantom hands reached inside and lifted a small chunk of that energy bringing it out until it was almost tangible. No outward sign could be seen but if you had asked Zahara would have told you she was holding the ball of golden light that she'd pulled from within. She applied the same basic principle to the runes, concnentrating on giving them the energy she had harnessed, feeding them so to speak. It took a few tries to get the right amount and the feel of it but finally she had the feeling she'd gotten it. Her eyes opened slowly and she glanced down to see what was happening.

The runes she had scribed on herself were acting accordinaly, blood drying a little with the glow and slight feeling of warmth they took. The base principle was that Andallian runes ran on self generated and manifested energy from the mages that scribed them...which explained the fatigue or tiredness that could plage a rune mage after a battle or stressful task. Often this engery was manifested to scribe runes, in the abscense of it or if the mage could not produce such energy be it from age, lack or experience, or whatever, other materials could be used just as well and could be just as effective if one knew how to activate them in a 'back door' way so to speak.

Thus, as the blood runes dried where they were scribded, the two slits on her wrist mended themselves together jsut as they would of if she was using her own magics to do so. Simple task really, often sated the want to know things in young elves. At least for a time it gave them something to fascinate over. But he just watched.

Ooh they were glowing. They were glowing! They were GLOWING! She'd done something. All by herself she'd done something! A feeling of elation the likes of which always came about when one was able to do something on their own for the very first time. She changed her opinion about him in that moment. He was a Master rune mage and while he may be infuriating and slightly b*****d-like, he had a handle on this rune stuff. "I did it...." she said slowly and then much happier. "I really did it! So...what did I do? I mean exactly...because you know and I don't and I want to do it again with another one. I mean there's all kinds of stuff I could do, right? Ooh...teach me a rune that I don't know, moves stuff or something." Excited? Just a bit. And she was probably getting ahead of herself, but she didn't care at this point. She'd scribed her first rune. Oh yeah. Go Zahara! This was like that time when she was 25 and had mastered her first Drow spell. Never mind she'd been doing it illegally and gotten quite the beating for it, she'd still been happy.

He crossed his arms. "You're not learning another one. That one you just did was a life rune. It has several uses and can be manipulated in several ways. I merely had you mimic your innate born magics for healing and transfer it to the runes. In essence you replaced words with symbols. That's all it is...and you'll be learning no more than that simplicity."

Honestly he wasn't trying to be mean. He was being taught the way he was taught, and in all truth it was a dangerous thing seeing as you were playing with your own essenes when it all came down to it. She would just have to accept that the process was slow and the possibility that she may never be able to do it...besides she was too young anyway. Common practice was to not let them really start lerning until they were one hundred and fifty. Till then it was mostly book learning and examples. Thus why rune mage's were rare, Master's more so.

Bratty Zahara longed to make an appearance. She'd stamp her foot and demand to learn another one. She could do this, he just had no faith in her. None whatsoever. He was purposely trying to discourage her because he was an unwilling teacher. He'd said it himself, Malik as her witness. "You mean I didn't really do anything? But they were glowing! I saw them." She sighed and glanced at her wrist. No more glowing runes, now it was just dried and caked blood on her wrist and palm. Joy. "Are you sure I can't just learn one more? I mean it won't kill you to teach me another one, right?" Pessimistic b*****d. She wasn't going to take no for an answer. "You could, you just don't want to. Isn't that right Sevilin?" It was said quietly, without any trace of her all too famous attitude, almost as if she was sad. "Do you not believe I'm capable of anything?" Violet eyes met red beseechingly. "I really think I can do this...just give me a chance." And then a pause, "Please?"

"Yes they were aglow with the energy you put into them. Just liek when I scribe, they glow, when they acitvate they glow, it's all about energy and what not." Though he had to set his jaw again as she started into what seemed to be pleading with him. Oh ho ho deciteful little thing wasn't she? Well he wasn't falling for it. And he wasn't being mean to her right now either. Basic facts he was using.

"If you want to cause yourself perhaps massive internal and probably external bodily harm by your own hands, or perhaps do worse. Then I will gladly teach you all the runes you like. Though if you don't like blood oozing out of every orafice you have then I suggest you heed my words." Sometimes he still got nose bleeds. Though he preferred that to teh whole bleeding from ears and eyes occurances.

Though a shake of his head, a slight snap in his voice even if her tone was light, it was still accusing of him. "I said I would teach you, part of that teaching is you learning your limits and not kill yourself."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 10, 2006 10:19 pm

He wasnt' going to teach her anything else. She accepted that with far more grace than she would have normally and nodded. "Alright Sevilin. You're the Master and you do know what's best." Yes it burned her to say it, yes she wanted to throw a hellacious fit and accuse him of being mean but she didn't. She hadn't realized however that she might hurt herself and what was the first rule to mastering any type of magic? "Walk before you can run, right? I'm sorry I guess I got a little too eager. So are we done then? Do I know everything Malik ordered?"

Did he sling her around that hard to make her som compliant? Or was it Malik's little trick that had done it to her? Oh yes he saw, those collars were more than mere brands. Which of course made his mind wander a few directions since quite the...prominent...ones wore them as well as slaves. But back to his current irritation.

"What Malik ordered can not be done in a days time. He will accept that fact, you will accept that fact, and I'll handle that fact and do my job as it is asked of me. That being to act as the support system to you. I've already scribed personal artifacts. As long as those are on your person I can envoke a circle to target them and thus manipulate and influence. Malik is not wise to Andallian rune magic's workings, therefore it is my rules we live and play by." Basically...Malik couldn't really yell at her and he still had to pay Sevilin.
