Rather than take any opportunity for jokes, she was instead impressed by what she saw as efficiency in his bodily composition. "That's all? Heh. An unremarkable substance for a remarkable situation~ A few tins of that, then." His saving grace might have been due to the fact that she was actually aware that there wouldn't necessarily be a long term need for such a supply. And the idea of keeping some around for the next time he was obliterated just seemed to be too grim of a prospect. Any way around it, reasonability had actually come into play for once. And she was sure to remind him that she was in fact capable of reason, showing some indignation as she pouted at him. "Really~ Have you ever seen me with a lot of things in my hair?" Unconventional as she could look at times, her head was hardly weighed down by much of anything. So while lacking any real offense outside of a pout, she did have a point. Taking to his hair once again, she made sure it was out of his face and twirled it to the side as she explained further. "A child thinks little of their appearance, so some care is just a matter of believability really. An unkempt child with a visible parent isn't believable." Even if that ideal could unfortunately turn up false at times, she was firm in her belief about the matter. Strangely dutiful words coming from someone whose hair was mostly cropped short with the occasional bout of unruly length, but... likely no less true when it came to herself. "To portray a child, you should look like someone cares about you. And someone definitely does... so." Hands out of his hair once more, with an index finger she traced a circular shape upon his forehead before withdrawing completely. Unusual, but fond. As if wanting to do something sweet like kiss his forehead but not wishing to unsettle him with the gesture.
And while she should've expected that her inquiry into a name might've been turned right around on her... of course she didn't! "Me?" And with that squeak of surprise came a hurried explanation that probably shouldn't have been said. "But I'm not supposed to..." Oops. Maybe he wouldn't ask about it? It was such an innocuous thing to say, after all, and... suspicious. Definitely suspicious. She had to quickly spit out a name in hopes he hadn't really noticed. "Iroha." Said softly, and with eyes shifted to the side as if she was thinking through something. Which soon went away, due to doubting what she'd chosen. "It's not... it's not just a girl's name." It seemed that his sensitivity over those matters was rubbing off upon someone who thought very little of them otherwise. She had to express some mostly unrelated lament to herself over it all, though; quietly but definitely not quietly enough. "A name that paired well with yours would be better~" But her saccharine notions over that had so little to do with disguising the person she insisted bringing along, which seemed to finally occur to her in a bout of blushing and stutters. "B-but that's not a concern right now!" Some overly romantic ideals were bound to surface due to the situation. She was probably doing better than anyone might've expected, really. She hid her red face within her hands for a while anyway.
Once it'd been long enough to pretend as if she hadn't just embarrassed herself, again, she left the refuge of her hands. "Aren't those for babies? Or is that what you're going for..." Her confusion was clearly visible as she tried to reason through it. Babies couldn't really talk, could they? The pieces didn't quite fit together, but other strange ideas were beginning to blossom within that tomato head of hers. "Oh, how about--" No, dressing him up in little costumes would hardly help with that whole 'inconspicuous' thing. Such a shame! Pushing her ridiculous disappointment aside, her eyes filled with what looked to be new enlightenment quickly enough. "Ahh~ Oh, oh." Surely he knew better than to think the sheer joy showing up on that face was anything good. Curled fingers pressed against her giddy face, she let him in on just what had her so pleased. "We could dress you in those animal rompers with the ears on the hoods, oh~" The kigurumi again! Though to her this was this and that was that, remembering that time did help sober her up some. It was because of that that she had started to fall for him in the first place, absurd as that all was. "I mean. Basically anyone would be too distracted by how cute you are to put any further thought into it." Excuses, excuses.
That confused, unsettled feeling resurfaced upon the mention of disguising his eyes. She'd ignore it, though. One thing having little to do with another, and she wouldn't let it slip out again. If anything it would help sever that haziness, being that she would very much want any child of hers that was his to inherit his eyes. But this was this, and that was that. With unexpected maturity she put it aside within her thoughts, and addressed him with a playful lilt instead. "My eye is actually red like yours, you know~" A totally and completely different red as far as her stubborn thoughts went, but she had a point to make. "It actually doesn't hinder my vision at all, having my eye so altered." The glaring exception within her face might've raised a question or two, but she was comfortable enough to address it without him asking. "...There are just two things I cannot ever change. This..." She indicated towards the not-eye occupying one socket. "...And this." She held up the wrist emblazoned with pale blue. "Even if the form I take isn't humanoid. Even if all else is lost. They persist~" The annoyance that had crept into her voice changed into a humble request. "So should you find all of this arm embedded with this engine... well. That's me~ Please take it, and the rest will grow back." Bowing her head didn't make it any more normal of a situation, but it seemed to fit well with a pact she seemed to have already entered anyway. The bubbly eye-filled remains of one, and the amalgamation of severed body parts of the other. If anyone could understand the strange circumstances of one, it was the other. And while said end results were far from ideal, that bit of understanding was more than enough to get a content smile out of her on what was otherwise a very trying day.

No, no asking her for a warehouse full of it. No, explaining that milk powder had a lower concentration was not a valid reason. Make do with what he was given. A few tins should be more than enough to cover hands and a skeleton, and he was not in a position to be requesting for more at the moment. The deadline was too close! "Okay. Thank you." Nope, still no smile of gratitude. No amount of milk powder would help that.
"Well, you did take... I mean, it's only fair that I help out in the same circumstance." Carrying an arm around was somehow actually less awkward than carrying an eye, even though an eye would be easily hidden. More eccentricities. "So it's a deal. Anything happens, I'll look for that first. Which I hope never happens anyway, but..." Got to deal with pesky accidents, the both of them! Whoever said it was going to be easy?
Ah, but a kigurumi and the name, why did they sound familiar...? Oh! That.... Was simply a coincidence, right? She was not teasing him about the ears thing, was she? She probably was. Oh well. Was his fault anyway for letting his guard down then. So what was it, red hair, red jumper hoodie, ears? No wait, anyone realizing it would mean a new layer of teasing about the ribbon. He should save that party trick for next time. ".... Don't tell me you're already planning to find me a cat one. Or a rabbit one. Thought you had enough of rabbits to take care of as it is, don't need a big one joining the group." Even if she did, what else could he do about that? Anyway. "A child, neat appearance, animal onesie. Got it." A hood should take a little extra materials, so would the kind of ears she wants, but should not be too far out, right? "And eyes. Eye." Got to get used to that again for a while. "You won't be turning your eye red again any time now, would you? Unless they know your actual eye colour, it might be a bit odd?" Because what normal human had red eyes?
"So I'll be Irazoki Iroha for now." He looked satisfied enough with that. Ah, there was no convenient notebook to write it all down in. Okay, time to rely on that horrible memory. At least the alliteration should help!

Even if his answer was lacking the shameless devotion that her declaration had boldly proclaimed... it was still quite a bit coming from him, wasn't it? It was too easy for her mind to be snagged by romantic prospects like that, and from her heavily-lidded eyes and optimistic bit of a smile that seemed to be exactly where she had ended up. "I can't say that I hope that you're ever given such an opportunity~" So tenderly and sweetly confirming that she didn't want him to be finding her body mashed into a pulp. So very wrong. "But I'm..." The strangeness of the situation didn't make it any less meaningful, though, as her voice was overtaken by emotion for a moment. Hands at her arms in some semblance of protection, she looked upon him with the same affected eyes and esteem as usual. "Incredibly grateful, to hear those words." Nope, didn't matter how he looked or what form he took. The way she regarded him wouldn't waver.
But those romantic ideals were well-tempered by what seemed to be a doubly harsh reality between the two of them, so it didn't take much for her to take on the responsibilities she'd have to face as a result. Mostly. "So some tins of dry milk, and animal rompers..." The fun of idly listing off things while sprawled out upon the floor was muddled by his usual sarcasm. Springing back up, of course she'd have to cheerfully refute his resistance against having his capability to be adorable fully utilized. "But you'll look so cute as a rabbit. And a cat. How about a bat? Anything else?" They'd only be gone for so many days which meant only so many outfits, with what little consolation that was. His comments over the matter led her to take a lengthy look over his person before finally just asking. "Are your clothes always just part of your appearance?" That couldn't be it, could it? She'd seen too much of him previously to think that was really the case. Likely just easier to cover the tiny growing body that way. "I can do that, but... I like the texture of fabric too much." Cat-like as ever. Fingers gliding across the bottom of her shirt for a moment, with a flop back to the floor she had to admit that wasn't the only reason. "Aside from portaling around I've been conditioned out of most of my cheaty magics, anyway~" Still not a believable imitation of a human in the least. But pretty much an overpowered house cat as far as demons went.
Rolling over to face him again, she decided to address something he hadn't made an obvious determination about just yet. "What color of eyes?" Grey would be the obvious choice, but it definitely seemed better to ask. "I can make it look like you have two... though a one-eyed mother with a one-eyed child is probably more cute than suspicious..." And as soon as those words had been uttered, her mind had utterly embraced them. "Eye disorders can be congenital and inherited, of course~" The matter-of-fact way her information was presented was a complete mismatch to the hint of a happy blush on her face she was trying to ignore and disregard completely. That silliness aside, an explanation was in order. "The energy membrane can strain while under stress at times, but..." Sitting up once more, a fair amount of resolve had settled into her face, arms crossed as she detailed the rest. "No, I tend to maintain this face whenever I'm in the country. There's more of a precedent for that than otherwise, actually." There was obvious discomfort involved with what came next, as her mouth twisted from the distaste of it. "Showing my true face was something I'd taken up here, but... well, that seems to be over now." That she was disheartened by that was obvious, sighing quietly as her head hung some as it shook. But she'd made a choice against dwelling upon it, and there was a bright optimism in her eyes as she lifted her head once more. "Doesn't matter what I look like if I can protect what's important to me, though." She herself was part of that, though only in a roundabout sort of way as far as she was concerned. Rather difficult to effectively protect when being targeted for various animosity and prejudice herself, after all.
Hearing the name she'd wanted put together with hers was more than enough to have her face quickly and brightly burning in response. Palm to her face, she had to laugh at herself some. "Heh. When you put it together like that, it's rather adorable isn't it~" It'd seem deliberate if she didn't know otherwise. So, so cute. Would it be too impulsive to ask to go through with the motions of creating new life to apply said adorable name upon? Far, far too impulsive, especially considering the subject of said inquiry had frozen up at the abstract idea alone. Her own stubborn attachment to his name was enough to maintain her already loose grip upon reason. And even then, just barely. With parents with different surname placements it hardly seemed to be much of a problem. Irazoki Iroha Muller. Simple, right? And evidence that her already limited capacity for reason was falling prey to both her weariness and weakness towards the situation. At the very least the nonsense stayed rattling around in her head for once, sparing what sanity he had left in the process.

"So between us, there's enough eyes to match one?" Attempt at humor lost. Requiring tone to match, tone not found. "I'll wear an eyepatch like yours then? Okay, no objections to that. Grey eye and an eyepatch." Would skip anyone looking for red eyes, so good enough. Lost in thought about that until her words dragged him back. Oh yeah, he was wondering about that too. ".... It was because of what I said, wasn't it?" Back when he had been foolish enough to ask that of her! Guilt settling in nice and comfy now. "You don't have to if you don't want to. I think... I think that has gone on enough, can't say it's exactly relevant given the nature of things now. And not like there's really anyone left to do the judging." He shrugged. All dead anyway, he had been hanging on to dearly departed strangers for too long. All so dearly departed, so tired. Sit down for a moment, but wait. Mourning can come later. Concentrate.
And caught off guard! He stared at her with that struck-dumb expression for a moment, before his tongue found the words to carry and dropped the shock. ".... Um, no. I am still required to wear the jumpsuit and coat, and the only other things of note are my uniform and my sweater. Those aren't formed." Even if they were, at least one of the three was too complicated for him to hold long. And all three got blood on them so much, whatever material that could have been used to form them would have been stained red long ago. "But in theory, I can try... Just that it'll probably look really off and I won't hold it for long. Loose fabric is actually harder to make than form-fitting ones, and even then I have hardly any practice doing either." Then don't blame him for looking like someone stitched the jumpsuit onto the doll. "And yes, it's cheating. But what else would you have expected me to do in this situation? Surely you'd be even more shocked if it was a blob that appeared instead of something familiar." Carefully not addressing the actual problem! Or was he already dense enough to have lost it even before he said it?
If he was going to answer, it'd be a plain one. But she'd only go with that after a long gripe, and besides! A pair of extra ears for an image he was not going to use long would not be too out of place, right? So, time to pick the easy, simple ones. Which of course he had no idea about.... Leave it to her to pick, then. No whining about her eventual awfully cute choice though! "You choose. I'll go along with it," was his answer, with the weariness from the day's events kicking in. Oh, willpower running out already?

His dry attempt at humor was regarded with sweet sympathy, in the form of a soft smile and a slight ruffle of his hair. "I'm sorry that you've only one, at least." For her it could still be a tender subject for certain, but once that had been mostly been numbed by the passage of time. "Grey it is, then~ Shall I do that now or later? Perhaps later, once you've reached the amount of growth you seek." Her unsettled feelings over grey eyes were quickly overrun by the surprise she felt from his willingness to take responsibility for the situation. While she was still both reluctant and mindful about overtly romantic gestures, he'd still end up with the strange but affectionate gestures instead. Her face ended up against the top of his head, pressed against it but not bearing the weight of it. "Regardless of what you might say, this world will never be a safe place for someone like me." Perhaps he could relate. Either way, despite her acute awareness of her lack of safety the tone of her words still bore a great appreciation for what he'd said. Lifting her head, she reluctantly worded through her understanding of her situation. "Much more simple to bear a guise of 'normalcy' than constantly be sought out by homicidal maniacs, surely~" Even if he still technically qualified as what she spoke of, she'd long since forgotten. With a long look both up and down her brown arms, she admitted a certain fondness for them. "This is the appearance of the first culture that embraced me, so... I can't say I mind it much." A culture long since dead and yet still well known to modern life. Somewhat outside of her own understanding, for certain. And perhaps what followed was to be considered less important than what she'd already confirmed, but... inwardly, personally, it still meant so much to her. "You're fine with the way I look either way, yes~?" Whether due to a lack of courage or as a kindness, the word 'like' hadn't factored into it. He'd already been through enough that day without having to field any romantic nonsense as well, right?
The chain reaction from her unusual question hadn't stopped just yet, as taken aback by his shock her face burned once more. "It isn't as if I asked you to show me, or anything~" Because that sort of crass little comment would make the situation so much better. No matter though, as some of the usual absurdities would be there to draw up all of the attention soon enough. "Heh~ Even a blob would be acceptable, if I knew it was you." Of course she'd say that, meaning every word of it. And even being a formless blob was unlikely to spare him from her clinginess, though it would certainly increase the awkwardness of being squished against her. Rather than thinking of the silly things that would be involved her mind was surprisingly caught up with the inconveniences instead. "Though I'd imagine a time without limbs being too trying to really accept." It wasn't long before she was back to her own involvement, wondering if there was any form he could take that she'd think any differently of. "Just... hnn~" How frustrating. Even if for some reason he ended up resembling one of her enemies, if it was still without a doubt him it wouldn't stop her. Nope, not even then.
Forced to choose between two portrayals of cuteness, both of which were linked to her personally. Such difficulty! But one related solely to her and likely better fit what he was going for. "Hnn~ Cat ears would get in your way less, yes?" Getting her way didn't leave her unaware to his tired self though, leaning in to pet at his hair once more. "Ah, so worn out. Past time for rest, probably." She was smiling anyway. Hard to feel bad about it when it'd been an opportunity defuse many a situation and reaffirm what she saw as the bond between them.

Don't mention it, nope, he knew what happened last time he brought up hair ruffling, no guarantee she wouldn't say that either. "Uh... It's alright. At least I still have one." As opposed to six, but she didn't know that. Probably. "Grey. And later. I can't say I'm not nervous about it." And his tired little self probably could not take much more than that.
Here's the million-dollar question! Yes, or no? Go back on his word for progress, or hold onto a stubbornly old mind? Not to mention, he knew very well by now that if he said something, she'd follow it to the letter and more. So he had better think quick and be firm about it. "..... Yes. It's been a bit too long to say that I'm not comfortable with it," came his final answer. What use was a friend who could not be okay with someone's true self anyway? Besides, he'd screwed around with magic people enough that shapeshifters didn't unnerve him that badly, so why should a demon be any different? "And since there's pretty much no need to waste energy on something like that when you're not under the eyes of the public, it should be fine, I think." Of course, she'd probably still feel more comfortable going outside with the disguise on. Not that he blamed her, but unlike the expected thoughtfulness, there was only plain efficiency considered. Surely burning energy on a superficial likeness even in the comfort of her own home could get tiring for her... but not tiring enough for him to forego his improvised shell, nope. Hold on to that. The things they both had to do to fit in.
More confused frowns! Situation's definitely not getting any better. ".... There's nothing behind it. Just a layer of shell like pretty much everything else." Awfully dense and default to the end. Well, she knew him enough to expect that kind of answer by now. And vice versa! "... Looking like that would make a mess on your floor. Try wiping up water when someone keeps pouring cups of it everywhere." Doesn't mention the waste of material, yeah.
"..... Very well. Cat ears it is." Oh, don't need to give her that mock-defeated look! He did choose to let her have her way, after all. "What, is this going to be like chasing kids into beds now? Already taking on the roles, aren't you." She'd make a good nurse, he thought, if only the hospital didn't give everyone the perpetual chills. "Okay, let's both go get some rest. It's been a lot."

Of all the things to try to be optimistic and cheerful about, she was probably one of the few that would try the hardest over cyclopean status. She'd already had many a lifetime of trying to make herself feel better about it. Why not extend it to someone that was quite dear to her as well? "And you can pick what side it goes on. Unless you can tell otherwise?" A question that only someone else with one eye could ask, really. It'd be too cruel, coming from anyone else. And with a small nod, she acknowledged and respected his decision to delay disguising himself. "You'll be dealing with someone else's energy, so~ Understandable, I think." That he'd agreed to it was likely a lot for him to begin with, being that at some point he was probably taught to do nothing of the sort under any circumstance. Just what involvement with the church he really had was something she didn't fully comprehend, but even part-time exorcism work implied quite the connection there. Idle thoughts led her to wonder if he'd still side with that job over she herself, but two tired minds didn't need to worry over all that too. Some other time.
Accepting her for what she really was already something to find joy in, after all, so... one thing at a time. "I'm glad~" Her hope was easily tempered by reality, though, as it said nothing of any willingness to deal with her extra anatomy or even find her attractive that way. But she'd gotten what she'd asked for and there was nothing wrong with taking some solace in that, right? Still. Some reluctance regarding all that factored into dealing with his approach towards her form in private, though mostly it was a matter of energy conservation. "Mm. Staying one way or another is more related to efficient energy usage than anything else. The amount of energy maintenance is low. It's the initial casting that's costly." Changing back and forth was draining, both energy-wise and emotionally. Better to maintain that fragile face of normalcy and try to forget about it.
And maybe he wasn't implying what she thought he was implying, but her hand met her face anyway. "What kind of person would I be if that was all I could think of even at a time like this~" She obviously wanted to entertain him with all sorts of adult activities and had made that fact perfectly clear to him on more than one occasion, but even after such a day? Even when he was basically a doll? Her principles were definitely her own but she still had them. But apparently she was too tired to put any care into asserting that at him, choosing to comment on his other observation instead. "Ehh~ Sounds more like a puddle than a blob. Which I wouldn't mind either, but a blob is more like a pillow, and~" The conversation avoided a turn for the decidedly dirty as her thoughts veered towards sleep instead. Her eyes were heavily lidded as her arms reached out for a pillow that wasn't there, and she took the short tumble into the floor without disturbing her tiny guest. Crashing into the floor seemed to have awakened her some, eyes a bit brighter as she brought herself back to a seated position; hopefully enough to get her to bed sooner rather than later.
But oh, what delight she took in what he'd resigned to doing! "Already so cute, and going to be more cute~" Only to be curbed by his sharp remarks, which she regarded with her usual pouty behavior rather than actually being offended. "I've no desire to be a mother to you~" Regardless of how he felt about her, already too much had happened to make that idea the least bit viable. Good! Silently she was incredibly thankful for every sort of mishap that had made that possible. She'd already refused to sideline herself with the title of 'friend,' but 'mother'? No, no, absolutely not. "More a matter of roles overlapping, as I already try to take care of you regardless." Even if she hadn't an official title or role to speak of, she looked far more peaceful over it rather than unsettled. It was still a space that was hers, of which she'd more readily defend than she had previously if it ended up threatened again. And being that he'd been a little mouthy to her, of course she saw it as only fair to turn it around on him. "But to be a mother for you, well. That's different~" Even if he didn't get it, she was satisfied with what she'd said. And the idea of it being so far from her present reality made it simple to avoid blushing over it, too! Didn't stop that self-satisfied grin from showing, though. "But now right now, I'm tired~" Just what relevancy it had to anything was surmised easily enough due to her quickly prioritizing the reality of rest over entertaining any far away near impossibilities such as that.
After picking him up she trudged towards the bedroom with solely that intention in mind, ending up carefully placing him on the side of the bed she didn't want. "I'll be right back." Having to drag herself to presumably the bathroom and back was likely to give him enough time to make himself comfortable before she showed up again.

Cover the empty hole, rock his head to the side, whole new meaning of 'eye roll'. "Doesn't matter so much. Just a bit getting used to." And back again. Then again, for someone who had been juggling eyes for nearly the whole of his stay. "I just hope it doesn't hurt too much." Like how he willingly chose to walk around with red eyes and required reading glasses instead of just popping in contacts and be done with that problem. Surely magic disguises shouldn't be as uncomfortable as little pieces of soft plastic, right? Right?
"Then you can pick. Doesn't matter so much any more." Might as well, in such company. And all the less effort for her to keep up. Not one or the other. But nope, still too dense! And even more so, not understanding! "Someone that would be very concerned about laundry and guest maintenance?" he guessed. See the point sailing over his head? There it goes! But it was not the first time he had to clarify that again, anyway. Never mind that, someone was really getting sleepy.
"I'm too old for one. Not even for this kind of shape." Hammer that point home between yawns, pinch his own cheeks, nyeh nyeh! But hers bounced off that thick skull, oops. "Eh... You'd have to play that role when it comes to customs, anyway. In case they ask? Or I could just be a very well behaved child... Actually I think I will do that instead." So he admitted that he was horrible at acting? For someone who could change appearances with enough concentration, behavior was still a problem... Hm. He might need to work on that.
"...... Okay, I'll...." Z's floating out as soon as she left and his head dropped onto the pillow. Oh well, no complains about being manhandled so much, no last-minute worrying about emergencies, just crawl onto the pillow and snooze.

Pawing at the fatigue weighing heavily upon her eyes as she returned initially left her unaware that he'd fallen asleep in her absence. "I understand your concerns, but I'm telling you that there isn't any pain invol--" Eyes wide and mouth snapped shut, she approached more quietly upon finally noticing his unconscious status. "Ah~ I didn't even get to sing you to sleep," she remarked with quiet amusement. After she'd pulled a blanket for herself from the closet she pressed herself against the sheets, taking a moment to of course appreciate the cool sensation she got from the fabric. Though she'd uncovered her legs the rest of her was covered more than usual for sleep, retaining what she'd changed into previously for his sake. Even if it was her usual attire for sleeping, having to wake up next to someone clad in all of lingerie would unnecessarily complicate things considerably.
After some time spent with the sheets while face down, she rolled over to curiously look over her bedmate. She said she'd leave him alone and intended to keep to that, but... it didn't mean she couldn't get uncomfortably close, right? After slowly sliding over to his side she stopped just short of touching. Such a strange situation. Certainly not one she'd have imagined for herself. But being that they were together, she could hardly complain. Even if he'd already told her that it'd just be for that night, and even if he looked much different than usual... there was still a great deal of vulnerability involved as she grasped at the sheets near his sleeping form. Though her hopes for that day had been dashed rather spectacularly, her hopes of furthering the connection between them wouldn't be snuffed out so easily. That they'd managed to bring back most of that 'normal' feeling with all of a conversation despite an utter disaster of a day spoke volumes of just what they could do for each other. From her perspective, at least. Ah. To have no expectations of a person and yet, no one else would do for all she wanted. Her face ended up pressed into the bed again. Very fair of her but probably not very fair to herself.
Once she'd loosely covered him with the sheet, she retreated to her side of the bed to do the same. Initially she'd faced away as she took on the blanket as well, but... eventually she'd turned to face him again anyway, imitation of an eye glowing softly in the darkness as she did. After some time had passed the subtle light went out, as she was unable to resist sleep any longer.

Good morning.
Today, there was a chance to sleep in. Why not take it? No wait no sleeping on the job, the schedule was tight, and there were lots of things to do later, and there was a scolding for getting caught napping, and...
Oh. Oh yeah, he was not on duty. Not for a while. So go back to sleep, the snoozing redhead beside him probably is still dancing about in her sweet dreams, oh but he had to get to work! First order of the day. And so the tiny fella hopped out of bed, crashed face first onto the floor, got up and rearranged that sleepy face and wandered off in search of the bathroom. Never mind that it was barely six in the morning.
Would have gone on well if the wall of weariness was still there or the wave of yesterday's suppressed thoughts and feelings did not come back. Oh yeah, there was the hospital, the raid, the oh. Oh yes. It was really too quiet in here. His feet gradually shifted from going to the door to the corner he had pointed out yesterday instead, dragging their owner along. He sat down, squeezing and curling himself up as small as he could. No use for her to find him so early in the morning, not like this. Not again.
Okay, finally it was mourning time. Just close that eye and quietly sit there for a while, listening to the morning silence. Reflect for a while, lay those hypocritical feelings out to check. Sadness at losing someone dear yet again, multiplied by two. Gratitude at being freed, even if it was a pyrrhic victory, multiplied by two. Cold practicalness, multiplied by zero upcoming procedures. Might take a while.

Unfortunately gentle dreams wouldn't come, as the recurring nightmare had settled into its usual place within her slumbering mind. The same mutilated body, convulsing with shock. The same arm that reached out, despite everything. The same black eyes, devoid of any emotion save abhorrence. And the same searing pain as her shoulder shattered, said arm falling to the floor but unable to feel it anymore. Just pain. Gripping at what was once severed but had regrown always brought her gasping back into consciousness, always panicked and with remembered pains no matter how many times it happened. Opening her eyes to relative darkness always snapped her back to reality but it never made it any easier on her. But that empty feeling of waking up alone that she'd become accustomed to was further complicated by remembering that it was a time that shouldn't have been the case. Panic set in first, reaching out to find nothing and reacting accordingly. "Erhard... ?" Reasoning came next, her mind making a weak but relevant connection to what he'd said before. That sometimes after his work he wanted neither sleep nor company, but to be left alone. Who was to say what he had gone through yesterday, after all. And he couldn't have left, right? With a sigh her worry eased off, satisfied to leave him alone if he liked though not really understanding it at all.
She on the other hand needed an immediate distraction from the heavy-feeling in her chest that refused dislodging. Without so much as getting up she opened up a small hole in time and space between her hands, just big enough for a tiny ball of fur to wriggle through. One that had apparently missed her very much, as soon her line of vision was obscured by nuzzles to her face before she could even get the portal closed. But something to pet and hold was just what she'd needed. So a little dander invading her senses was considered an acceptable tradeoff, as she made an effort to rub her nose as she removed the rabbit from her face. Rolling over to her back she held him over herself, singing quietly at him for a while as she softly resonated. It didn't take long for her to relax, and the fact that she had someone depending on her to run errands helped as well. Once she'd sat up she was soon out of bed, rabbit hopping after her as she sought out clothes.
Closed away in the bathroom, there'd be no poignant or meaningful gazes as she looked over the whole of herself in the mirror. Nothing to resent or boast over. Just her body as it'd always been, always was, and always would be. Only the too-long hair made her feel anything, but... she hadn't the heart to cut it. Not yet. Refusing to let go of the feeling that'd been meant for that day, that longing, but still braiding it aside before struggling into a barely buttoned shirt with a skirt and jacket. No shoes. Couldn't be bothered.
Entering the main room once more, she announced her intentions just prior to attending to her errands. "I'll be back soon~" Portal closed and rabbit left behind her, the quiet returned. Mostly. The tapping of rabbit claws against tile was subtle but was unlikely to go unnoticed. At least until he made it back to the carpeted area to continue his apartment adventure.

Good morning. How long had he been sitting here again? Oh, right. He probably should move, if... No, she's gone. The hazy voice that he had heard in the midst of wallowing in quiet morning reflections must have been her, and the slow tap-tap-tap might have been her feet. She'd come back soon, right?
So what else was on the agenda today, other than mourning? That was done already. Strangely enough, without any of the early morning ops as usual, he felt very out of place. Come on, do something. But what?
Oh, right. She was leaving tomorrow. Then he had better get started on practice. Practicing in her room would net a dirty carpet, so no. Ah, the bathroom! Now if only he could reach the door.... He should call home and inform a very concerned warden where he was. Why was the phone so high?
Build up that icy wall around his pseudo-heart again, and practice in the bedroom. Near the door, so it'll be easier to clean. Take it as a challenge, to practice forming and staying in a new shape for at least three hours. Should be more than enough.
Ah, hang on. What happened to his head? It's a mess of black and red hair, missing facial features, and an eye that didn't belong in its socket. Oops. Concentration faltered while he was sleeping, huh. Good thing he woke up early, then. Right, what was it again? Red hair, girlier face, onesie with a cat-eared hood. Time to get started on the hood, then. Fold here, fold here, pinch here? Nope. Fold here, pull there, flap here? Still nope.
It probably would be much easier with a reference... Ah, but she had cats, didn't she? They might be somewhere in the apartment, or maybe he'd find a picture of them somewhere. Time to superficially search, then. Where would a cat be?
Surely the tap tap tap might be someone that could point him to a cat. Coming out from his hiding spot in her bedroom, looking around for the source of the noise. "Who is it?"

Ears perked and rolypoly body up on his haunches for a moment, the little rabbit was quick to scurry towards the sound of the voice. What had started as a hopping sprint turned into a cautious approach, twitching nose busily surveying the situation as round red eyes took in the sight of less mass than expected. But with the sound and smell being the same, Patches wouldn't be kept from the figure for whom he'd displayed a certain amount of familiarity. Of course. They'd met previously, hadn't they? Only that the reaction had been the same then as well, despite never meeting prior to that day. But, nevermind that. Instead of paws tapping at him as before, it was just a tiny black muzzle that was suddenly entirely too close. Someone hadn't started in on petting him soon enough. Eventually the impatient rabbit decided to flop down on the floor in front of him, black paws barely peeking out of all the fluff even with how sprawled out he'd ended up. Alert ears drooped, and curious eyes lidded over. Mostly content to see an important person, but probably nice to pet too if he felt so inclined.
Eventually the redhead would reappear, with sighs and grumbles and still without shoes. Someone had been too enthused to help her important person and had rushed off without so much of a thought of covering her face. Her panicked realization had set in before anyone or the sun had seen, but still. With a scoff she tore the covering off again, tossing it aside as her eyes sought out a particular sight. The edge of uncertainty that had rushed her eased off when she found them, with a weary smile taking the place of her concern. Making her way over without the slightest amount of hesitation involved, she clarified just what she'd brought prior to carefully placing it next to them. "A box of six cans of dry milk. Please don't sleep in it?" Not like she could actually stop him from sleeping in a cardboard box if he was determined to do so. "I can... I can get you something better, if you like, when we get back." Nope, even specifically instructing her that sharing a bed wouldn't be a regular thing didn't stop her from trying it. But the requests and excuses didn't come from a blushing and scheming face as one might've expected. Rather than plotting to lure him into bed for any sort of activity the tired and disconcerted figure seated before him unquestionably sought out comfort in his company.
Anxious fingers playing with her own hair for once, it still wasn't a subject that would be lingered upon. There was so much else to do! Flipping through some papers on top of the box, she explained their purpose. "Should finish this as soon as possible, for your documentation... and oh, here." She pushed a small cup of the usual drink at him with one hand while she snatched up the papers with the other. "Is there anything else that you need right now?" Taking a moment to smile down upon the contented rabbit, she'd attend to herself soon enough. It didn't matter as much, but she figured that she'd be nagged into it eventually. Even so. The frayed nerves and worries were difficult to focus on when she was so happy to help.

And he falls back over with a terrified squeal. No, not because of the sudden muzzle in his face, nope. Totally not. He uh, he slipped! That was it! No mistaking that woffly nose for a monster or anything!
".... Oh, it's just you," he muttered, after recovering. He got up and patted the now giant-to-him rabbit on the nose. "Huh, I forgot rabbits don't make sounds much. Good thing she went out I guess, I'd die of embarrassment otherwise." Like the rabbit would understand, haha. But what were the chances?
But of course when the rabbit's owner returned, he would come find her with this strangely confident look on his face. "Oh, thank you for the milk powder. Should be enough to make a bigger shell now. Dont worry, I found a better place to sleep. It's not in a box." It might explain the Patches lying on the floor, a little flatter-looking than usual, and would go hand-in-hand with his history of animal cruelty. "I didn't know rabbits could be used as beds. Which... I should not be doing, yes." At least this time he acknowledged his mistake. "A box it still is. I don't mind, it looks big enough to fit for the time being."
"Oh yeah." Ah, customs papers. Better get to filling them... Left-hand handwriting it is. Maybe his pocket had a pe - no pocket. "Umm... Yes. A pen." No writing material at hand for once, but certainly not willing to poison the paper and cause unnecessary havoc at the station.
