Catching the smokes, he finished what was left of his already lit, and flicked it aside before following upstairs.

"Then I have a task. I told him I would give them the chance to run, I'll keep my word. If this Tomas chap wants to 'ave a go though like I reckon he will then i'll 'ave him and any other that steps up."

Lighting a new cigarette he exhaled with fatigue slwoly setting in. That had been quite the display after all, and he probably should have not bothered. Instead just gone with what worked in the end.

"I'll get to it right away, soon as I've had a drink."

A smile. An approving one, and a glance out the corner of her eyes, though she didn't turn her head towards him, simply kept walking into the main hall, where she accepted one of two glasses of vitae from Jan. The other, clearly for Corbin.

"Get some rest. YOU told him you'd let them run, I didn't. I know he's telling the truth, because that's where I slaughtered them earlier this evening, and made them tell me where to find HIM.

Keeping your word is important. As is accepting your foes are sentient beings just like you are. Children died tonight. But it wasn't your fault. The beast is yours to do with as you will for so long as you let him live.

Never tell a direct lie, Corbin, and always weigh up the impact on your being any death will bring. Some scars aren't worth bearing, and some are never jusitfied. Tonight, you have done well."

He stopped in his tracks hearing the news that the pack had already been slaughtered. Unsure exactly how he felt about it. She was right, it wasn't him that did it, and had no knowledge with every intention to allow them to run.

It took a moment, but he took the glass from Jan with a nod, taking a gulp before he spoke.

"I said I would give him a clean death, just not when. This Tomas prat, don't suppose you know which he was and how he died?"
PostPosted: Thu Jul 19, 2012 3:14 pm

"Heh... you haven't once asked why.... Interesting."

Taking her time to finish her drink in one long, drawn out gulp, she set the glass back on the tray, and resumed walking, heading towards the Ruby Drawing Room.

"He was the one sitting on a shorn off limb of the old oak tree, telling the group about the evil of vampires, and especially that of the sodomising lady of the house they had come to storm. He was the one extolling the virtues of making a statement out of the 'tainted guests of the diseased undead whore' and 'impaling the gutted remains of her vile minions out where others would see them'.

Whether I am indeed a cursed being or merely morally unsound matters not to me in the words of others, but I will not, and have never, stood idly by while my people have been threatened. Only Jan and yourself potentially bear any taint I may carry, and neither of you is to blame for it. The rest of my staff even less so. They have families and this is merely their job. Most of them will never so much as take a life in self defence.

He died impaled on part of the tree. One female survived. What Tomas had forgotten to indoctrinate into his little murderers was that one should always leave one alive to tell the tale. Otherwise lessons will not be learned."

She sounded increasingly bitter and angry as she spoke, but shook it off as soon as she was done, entering the drawing room and flopping onto her favourite couch, hand reaching out for the dials to the TV and Sky box.

"They used to wedge bricks in the mouths of the suspected undead, to stop them rising and biting fresh victims. They thought the plague was caused by us. If only the wolves bothered to learn what humanity believed of them..."

"You already told me why, though not in so many words."

Downing the glass as he entered the room after her, he sighed, tucking his hands into his pockets with a brat's cocky posture, smoke slowly rising from the dahb in his mouth.

"Don't get me wrong, I ain't goin' soft on you boss. ******** 'em. More pissed I now got nothing to do for the rest o' the night. Suppose I could go back to reading..."

Raising his right hand from his pocket he examined the exposed digits, trying to remember how those holy binds felt, thanks to the geezer Fenrir.

"What ever happened to that other kid from the Tabernacle tha' was always hanging about?"

"All work and no play makes Corbin a moraless monster. Take time to use your brains as well as your brawn, childe. Study never hurt anyone."

Flicking over the TV channels until she found something apparently interesting to her, she tilted her head back to look at him.

"You don't know why. Trust me on this. But a time will come. People are complicated. It'd be easy to say things like 'you're too young' or 'you'll understand when you're older', but really those are just stop gaps for the person doing the telling to put it off because THEY aren't ready to talk yet. Just like Fenrir wont talk about your father. And just like your father wont talk about you. Or the more complex aspects of you anyway.

I am not ready to discuss my origins yet. Or where the Garou fit in. I need to trust you fully first, and that will require time. Study, learn, ask. Think. I cannot state enough how valuable thinking is. Even if one only thinks on topics of no import, it is vital the brain acts before the body.
You've passed the tests I had for you tonight, and tomorrow there will be more. Hopefully, Dagoth, Nines and Will will have returned from the errand on which I sent them by then, and we shall we see what may be seen.

You know you have potential. If you cannot sit still and let your back finish healing, there is always the training room. Beyond that... tomorrow night, and after that.. eternity.

Get some rest, Corbin."

Smiling, she tipped her head back down, and curled her feet onto the sofa, apparently intending to spend the last of the evening relaxing herself.

With a defeated look exaggerated on his face and a hand rubbing idly at the back of his head, he gave in to reason. After all, his back WAS still tender, and a bother. Best to let it heal, especially with the sound of these three stooges returning. Something was going to happen it seemed, and he best be prepared.

"Alright, i'll behave for once."

Tilting his head at the tv, he groaned, and instead turned his back.

"If you need me y'know where I'll be."

Exiting into the main hall he'd then ask Jan to bring him any medical text books they had on blood along with a bottle of whiskey before returning to his room, where he'd spend the rest of the evening reading, drinking and smoking.

"Well, well, well. Your night is going well then."

The Lady merely grunted as a familiar voice made itself known, a slight shiver passing down her spine as the majority of the entity manifested externally, leaving a cold space inside her head, like an ice cream headache.

"The boy did better than I thought he would. Not bad logic in him, for a snot nosed brat."
"Indeed. I didn't think he'd consider keeping his word to a defeated enemy. I was glad he saw it otherwise."
"Morals. So very human. I think I've contracted them, to a degree, like some kind of disease."
"Morals and behaviour ARE social diseases, but don't try and lay it at my door. I know why you have boundaries, symbiote, and why I'm not dying from you."
"Thin ice, my dear. Steer clear of it."
"What, am I too young to understand? Will I get it when I'm older? Sentient beings. They're all the same, wherever you go. Just as the sky is the sky."

Flicking the TV over, she settled in to watch the news, the Daemon deigning to take a seat also, the sofa partly visible through his body, both content with companionable silence. For now.

"Bored..."

Wandering out of his room, the Fledgling sighed with his hands crossed behind his head bottle neck of some whiskey dangling precariously between two digits. Lit cigarette between his lips he idly stared down the hall as he trudged looking barely awake.

"Boooored..."

Reaching the end of the hall and the top balcony at the top of the stairs he surveyed the main room below briefly, taking a moment to move his smoke, take a swig of his go-juice, then return to his lazed state.

"Where teh hell are those pillocks?"

Referring of course to the others Roan had stated would need to return and be debriefed from their current job, before there would be more work.Glancing downward, he contemplated hitting the training room, or perhaps even visiting the mutt downstairs. His back was pretty much fully healed now, though scarred in a way that'd be satisfactory to his Sire.

"All dressed up 'n' no party to go to."
PostPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 1:06 pm

"Bored? We can't be having that...."

A voice. It was not the Lady DeSeer. It was not the butler, Jan. Nor was it even the strange tones of the pale faun creature that seemed an ever present threat around the place.

It was something... other. Otherworldly, inhuman, odd. The voice was warm. Physically warm on the skin when it spoke, though it would no doubt occur to the young man hearing it that his ears weren't at ALL involved in the process of listening in this case.
And it carried images with it. A flash of heat, then frigid cold. goosebumps would raise on the skin. Someone was behind him.... but there was no one there.

"Why don't you come to the training room? I'm sure I can amuse you somehow..."

A cut. A swift, deft slash across his upper left shoulder, so fast the pain took a few seconds to set in, despite the gout of rich, red blood.... but no wound was there.

Eye narrowing and a faint hiss as the Fledgling's left shoulder hit the railing and he rolled over boot heels flicking up at... Nothing?

Landing in a crouch in the main room he snarled at both the lack of an enemy for his counter to hit, and the fact he'd obviously just been played, like the furry downstairs had been by him.

"The ******** the room around him quickly, he rose up from the crouch and turned to regard the TR, or at least the direction it was in. Hands deftly brushing his weapons to assure himself they were there, he contemplated for a moment what had just happened, and who the hell could be behind it. For a moment at ******** it."

Marching off, he'd enter the TR without hesitation and survey, his right fist clenching and un-clenching with ire.

"Who the ******** is there? How teh hell you get in here eh?!"

The pirate, twitched as he staggered through the garage door to the mansion, he smelt of ash, chemicals and dried blood. His eyes were wide and vacant, clearly some part of him wasnt there. Dagoth would stagger into the main hallway scratching his arm trying to figure out which direction was his room.

"Left.....right....no.....up. You're talking to himself."

"I think I should be asking that of you. The Lady is usually so careful who she loses her temper with these days..."

The voice followed him downstairs, a presence at his shoulder, yet not there at all.
The lilting warmth now held a chuckle to its timbre, causing a subtle vibration across the skin as it spoke, to go with the heat it caused. Like someone was massaging the back of the young DeSeer's neck with words alone.

"I have many names, little one. I'm sure you will pick one as you see fit for who I am.
You will need to enter a specific code. It is going to grumble when you do and demand a scan before it will activate. Cut your palm. Spread your blood. The machine is too stupid to realise you aren't the Lady."

As it said 'pick', Corbin would feel as if something had lightly pricked his skin on the right side. The word 'grumble' caused another flash of hot then cold. 'Cut' induced another feeling of a slice to his flesh, this time to his left cheek. 'Blood' had a very unsettling feeling to it, like a lake of viscous fluid warmth choking him. It was also apparent this effect was not intentional, simply some part of whoever it was speaking to him.

"Type in 'Order X-13 R 99 Clearance DS Alpha."

-------------------------

Meanwhile, in the garage, a figure appeared in front of Dagoth. This one was NOT sinister or imposing... at least at the moment... It was Jan.

"Sir? Can I be of assistance? You look as if you would not say no to a stiff drinka nd some sustenance?"
PostPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 1:33 pm

Rolling his shoulders each time one such unsettling side effect of the voice became tangible, he focused on his will, and fortified his mind best he could against the voice. He didn't much like the idea that this was all similar to his own Chimerstry, so he had to test it to see.

Setting his bottle down on the controls, the pondered for a moment what the voice was telling him to do. Would something like this so easily get into the mansion, and parade about like this without Roan, or Jan's knowledge? Was this another test, like the furry?

He decided he couldn't care. He was sick of reading for now, and needed the exercise. So he did as told, not much liking the sound of that itself either.

Running his blade over his palm, and letting a good enough amount of blood well to the surface before sealing the wound, he smeared it across the panel, then gathered the VR gear, after arguing with the machine and entered.

"You wont be needing those, little one. Leave the gear aside."

The VR suite was... hellish. The scenery on the walls had shifted to shades of red, purple and black, light playing over the walls, thankfully showing the lines of the rectangular room, the only conformity in the maddening swirl of colours that seethed across each surface.
It was like watching some organic cell structure rupture, weaken, disintegrate and fresh living tissue grow in its place, but with no sense of rhyme or reason as to what happened where or when. The odd flash of nacreous white only made it worse.

From the usual wall, one of the drones moved drunkenly out, weaving a little on its stabilisers, not quite as smooth or well controlled as with a usual routine. The reason became apparent.
Corbin wasn't wearing a VR helmet to superimpose features over the construct, and yet it was growing features. AND growing to boot. it had to be about 7ft tall, if not more so. The skin was pale, with a chase of bronze over it, like a mica seam in rock, catching the awful red light periodically.
The hair was white. Stark, clear white. And it framed an angular face with jet black eyes, quick and intelligent. A cruel smile curved across deep purple lips as the figure stretched, black leather armour groaning at the movement, moving supply over the lithe figure beneath. The armour was layered, angular, offset with chases of red and purple, silver studs and chains crossing at the waist.

And yet, the construct could be vaguely seen through the features overlaid on it. The figure wasn't quite real, but was real enough it would seem. An aura of death settled across the room, death and oppression, though the figure made no move towards Corbin, or to harm him. Instead, it flicked a tail around from behind it. Spaded, wickedly tipped, it then used to appendage to prop itself up as it leant back casually, indolently.

"We meet face to face. Or near enough. You are shorter in person than your personna. Time will change that. You follow orders well. Thankyou for that."

Now the figure had something of a physical form, the feelings when it spoke were still more intent. Any feel of cutting was immediately followed by the feel of hot blood seeping down from the wound... as unreal of course as before, but the feelings were much more believable, harder to shake off. And it would seem Chimestry was not the cause. No matter what mental strengthening Corbin put himself through, the voice was ever present, as if it was somehow already deep within his own mind, behind those defensive lines.
