Kira grinned; she would do whatever it'd take to break Claudette's spirit. "Fair enough," she said. "I hope you at least have a strong blacksmith to make your weapons. You should look into upgrading beyond tomahawks."
She turned to Sherith.
"What an oddly compassionate thing to say," Kira said with a laugh. "War and kindness tend to not mix. Humans might not think the same as us Immortals, but we can't live together in peace, and we are rather done with living underground. The war that pushed us under has been over for centuries, so now, we must rise back up to our rightful place on the surface now that we can change the environment to our liking. True, these humans have been our slaves since we first discovered we could harness magic, and it might be just as well to keep them alive, but we don't need to waste our time trying to explain how taking over completely and forcing them to live elsewhere is going to lead to better lives for them. Honestly, their lives are at the greatest point that they're ever going to be. Killing them is just doing them a favor; after all, they're going to die anyway, so why prolong the inevitable?"
Kira sighed and continued, "It's not like they have done nothing to us. Some of our people were supervising the work camps, and there was a raid. Their items were stolen, and they shriveled up into dust. Which is why we now use tattoos. It's better this way, and humans don't have to worry about what our new world order is going to be like because they won't be around to see it."

"But why start a war at all?" Sherith protests to Kira. "If you're that much more powerful, why do you have to worry at all about them? Did you even give them the choice to leave in peace?"
She turns towards Svana. "How can you blame someone for something that their ancestors did before they were even born? Everyone should be accountable for what they do, not what their parents, or grandparents or beyond, have done. No one will ever find peace that way, because there's always going to be someone around who was hurt by someone else's line in the past." She shakes her head. The two woman looked vastly different, yet there were so many similarities. In the current company, Sherith is feeling so alone. This is probably made worse by the fact that she feels cut off from her own family.
"If that is justice, then that man should have gone ahead and killed me, because my family has hurt others."

Svana gasped with a small pout. "But I like my tomahawks." Although technically she was using a larger battle ax lately, needing something with a little more weight behind it, but duel-wielding smaller hand axes worked well for her most other times.
"So we were wronged, they took our land, they forced us to live as outcasts, and therefore we must submit without retaliation now that enough generations have gone by that the wrongs committed against us have been forgotten? Their memories might be short, but mine is not. Nor will I allow them to win because I simply outlived them. Their peace was forged on my blood. Their homes are built on the ashes of mine. I will treat them with the exact callousness as I was treated. I do not blame them for what their ancestors did to me, but I will nevertheless make them pay for it and take back what was mine."
"For once I actually agree with her," Baldur muttered.
Svana shut up and turned toward him, actually unsure where he was going with this. Was he making his point off of experience or theory?

"Why would they leave?" Kira asked. "They've built homes. They have friends. They have farms, places they like to eat, neighbors, families, and a whole society. It's actually humane to put them out together rather than force them to leave their homes and go into a vast, unknown, possibly unlivable part of the world where they would probably die anyway. No. This way, they live and die with their friends and family and loved ones, and they don't have to suffer or worry about where their next meal is going to come from. It's the humane way to do things."
"If you saw a dog who was flea-bitten, sickly, homeless, and old, you would have it put out of its misery, would you not? This is very similar. This is our humane manifest destiny, and we intend to make it worth our while."
Kira raised her arm, and Claudette's pistol flew out of her holster. Claudette jerked at the spell, but otherwise, she was too focused on her firefly to really notice. She was either praying or was sleeping, and Jinn was bouncing around in the jar excitedly. Kira snorted at Claudette. She handed the pistol to Svana.
"This weapon is actually painful. It puts holes in the body we can heal but can't erase." Kira stood up and lifted her shirt to show her stomach, which had giant pink scars of old gunshot wounds. Putting her shirt down, she sat down, and continued. "You ought to look into this. It might be helpful for your cause."

"You don't blame them, but you kill them anyways? That seems contradictory. You will spite people who harmed you by killing their descendants, even those who are too young to hurt you, and might be taught a better way? You don't have to submit to your enemies to spare the children who aren't even old enough to walk or talk." Sherith frowns. "At some point, someone has to let it go, or there won't be anyone left at all from any race."
"But a dog isn't capable of higher thought or emotion; these people are. It's not your choice to make," protests Sherith. "If they think their life is worthwhile, they should be able to live it. People can adapt to new places, find new homes, travel with their friends and family. Killing them means they can't do anything at all anymore. It's just not right."
Abruptly she stands up and lurches towards the door. "I need to go home. I need to find out......"
(OOC: Feel free to respond before she actually exits, or even stop her. I'm just going on what the character would do; I'm not actually needing to leave the RP.)

Svana shrugged as Sherith began to leave. "It doesn't make any difference what you believe. I value my lie and the lives of my people far more than I value theirs. May the gods have mercy on their souls, because I certainly won't." Accepting the gun from Kira, she inspected every inch of it curiously. "How does it work?"
Reaching across from her, Baldur snatched it out of her hands to also look at. "It puts holes in people? This tiny little thing? Do the holes go all the way through?"
The scars on Kira's belly didn't look terrible. His back looked worse than those little things.
((dammit, one of them is going to shoot themselves in the face with that gun. xD Svana and Baldur won't try to stop her from going, Lily. Hopefully somebody else does or she finds another reason to stay. Or I could have Urt walk through the door and make this a real party.))

Kira lifted her hand, and growled, "Stay."
A thin sheet of ice spread over the floor, growing outwards from the table Kira and the elves were at. It spanned from the counter to the door and all the space in-between, including the walls. Snow was starting to fall from the ceiling.
"It can, depending on where you shoot," Kira said flatly. "I know for a fact that Claudette will poison the bullets so the wound gets infected quickly, and it can spread through the body of a mortal person."

((I have a lot of other characters I could bring in, but Sherith is thinking she needs to go home and confront her family, which is what she was about to do when she ended up here. That's what happens in the original story, at any rate. I'll post in a few minutes; I got summoned downstairs. I'm guessing the 'stay' was for me Kitt?))

((Ooc: You can always bring more characters in, Lily. I'm debating on bringing Blair in, just like Jade mentioned bringing Urt in. And yeah, the 'stay' was for Sherith. She froze the ground so it would make it harder for Sherith to leave.))

Svana jumped when Kira encased the room in ice, eyes narrowing and slumping in her seat. She wasn't wearing much and she hated the cold. Baldur was perfectly comfortable, having spent his life in cooler climates, also swathed in his heavy coat.
"Could you make that stop?" she asked testily.
Baldur continued squinting at the gun. "Interesting." He pointed the barrel to his face to peer down into it.

Kira grinned. She liked the snow, but if it was bothering her friend, she would stop it. Raising her arm, the tattoos glowed, and the snow was fading off into a fog. It was warm once again, and the ice was melting.
"Don't shoot yourself," Kira said, laughing.

The room warmed again. Svana shook away a shiver, goosebumps already dappling her skin beneath dried, flaking blood. She forgot what snow was even like. It had been centuries since she saw it.
"How would I shoot myself? I don't get how it works," Baldur replied, setting the gun aside. Apparently "shooting himself" was not high on his list of priorities. Svana might have gotten a kick out of it though.

"That trigger, I think," Kira said, pointing to it.
She looked back at Claudette, and she felt like starting another fight. It royally pissed her off to see her enjoying anything, or sleeping comfortably, or whatever the hell she was doing.
Her brow furrowed, and her face scrunched up. Her eyes narrowed, and she was seething, her teeth bared. She could kill Claudette right now, and no one would stop her. It was so tempting, it was almost unbearable!

Shrugging, he picked up the gun again, pointing the barrel toward the ceiling and testing the trigger with his index finger. The thing went off with a noise not unlike thunder, deafening and making Svana fall out of her chair in surprise. She landed hard, cussing, hand set over her heart. Baldur put the gun quickly back down again, wriggling a hand in his ear as plaster sprinkled down from the ceiling.
"Was it supposed to do that?" he shouted a little loudly.
"Don't do it again!" Svana fumed, standing achingly up from the floor.

Kira burst out in obnoxious sounding laughter at Baldur and Svana and Claudette, who had nearly jumped out of her skin and grabbed her ring blade in defense. This was hysterical.
"It's supposed to do that," Kira confirmed, still laughing and wiping tears out of her eyes.
She lifted her hand, and Claudette dropped to the floor, unconscious.
"We can't have her trying to attack us," she said by way of explanation.
