...an idea for a villian.
A Magic User who creates a mass ki canceling spell. However this merely cancels out all outer ki (things that affect inner are safe) however flight is canceled for all those who can use telekinesis. Androids are still capable of fighting at full force however. Then invaders (who are unaffected because they were off world from the spell.) attacks us while we're all down strength.
