With a bit of training out of the way, it was time for Sumika to actually put in some training. She'd skated by on her talent so far, neglecting to put in work on her body and mind, but since she nearly passed out in the middle of the Kyubi fight all those years ago, it had been slowly catching up with her. She kept this in mind as she settled into her first round of meditation.[1/5] She felt like she'd tried this before and gotten little out of it, and this one was going to be a long haul. Perhaps she'd get better at it over time, but Sumika had her doubts about its effectiveness.[2/5] She did, however, find this process quite a bit easier than she had as a kid. Maybe it was being a bit older. Maybe it was a bit more experience, but it came almost as if second nature.[3/5]She closed her eyes and crossed her legs as she found a place to rest and focus. She ruminated a bit on the nature of the energy she summoned for jutsu. Not that she recognized it as such.[4/5] She saw it more as a whirling torrent than anything else, and she could feel that she possessed less than expected. Despite the spectacle which was unfolding before him, despite the tension he felt in the air, Kairi remained smooth and calm. After all, he was one tough b*****d. Brushing that aside he smirked at the womans comment on how she pegged him. Giving her a nod he shifted his weight to the side,"Your right on that. I can make any weapon sing for ya, but I cant sling jutsu around like most. Thats why I am talking to you now. I need a teacher, someone to help me get better at this. Now I personally could give two shits about it, but if I am to be a more, well rounded, fighter for Milady. Then it is something I need to get the hang of sooner rather than later. Hoping you can help me out with that." He had a small feeling the woman would deny his request, yet if she did it was no matter, he could seek out one of the other renown chakra slingers out and about in the village.
As San made her way through the Academy she couldn't help but smile. It pleased her to see the classrooms full and in session. They would be the future of this fledgling nation, the people who would eventually define it. It also brought a smile to her face to see her other ninja studying and growing even after their initial education had been completed. Growth, it was why she had come to the building as well. Years of peace had left her out of practice and somewhat stagnated. However with a new war on the horizon that was unacceptable. She needed to be ready.
While walking through the halls towards the library she was met with a great many bows and greetings. Such things were still strange to her, in some ways she missed being the rebel kage, the upstart. No she was an upstart no longer, well at least in the eyes of her people. The daimyo of the Hi no Kuni probably still saw her as an upstart. As soon as she flung open the doors to the library the smell of the place changed dramatically. That dry papery smell that was so iconic hit her nostrils and it flooded her brain with nostalgia for the old times where she studied furiously to catch up to the responsibility that had been dumped upon her. Now she needed to play catch up once more, or was it jump start? Either way she would be spending some time here studying.
Making her way to the restricted section San approached the materials that she would need for her studies. She was perhaps one of the foremost experts in fuuinjutsu out there, but there was more to learn. Grabbing several scrolls from the shelves she set up shop at a table and got to work. Over the words and formulas she poured, scouring them for information. Within these texts were secrets which she would use to enhance her capabilities further. At the apex of almost of ninjutsu was the manipulations of space-time. It had come up within her research before but she had never dared to seek it out before. Now she would do just that. Her research was difficult and time consuming, but as the hours ticked away her mind made progress. Secrets began to reveal themselves and the development of new techniques was had. αKya gave consideration to Kairi's request with her typical air of... well superiority disabled. She passed the scroll to Na'chal, having him take to studying on his own in the open class room. She had come here for a purpose: there were items on her grocery list to be checked off before she took her place at the top of Vortex, and teaching Kairi to wield his own chakra as should have been done before was not one of her priorities. Indeed, the immediate, knee jerk response was to deny him and send him to find another. Impulse control was in short supply where Kya was concerned but she had another thing to consider before answering. She never styled herself a priestess or a preacher. No, as Truth Bearer Kya shouldered a much heavy burden behind a far higher calling. It was meretricious, in her mind, to chant and rave: better the hierophants for that. Kya was a teacher, and in teaching she was the greatest motivator in all of the Land of Eddys when she wished.
People need to learn, but they don't need teeth to do it.
So for her to tell Kairi no, outright wouldn't sit well with her. What was more, the man had been there to fight the Kyuubi and survived by a hair, so she understood from the visual. Perhaps it was Kairi's path, now, to round out his Ninja Info Card by getting a grasp on ninjutsu. She smirked after the moment of hesitation and spoke to him plainly. "Well well, as I yet live I am still the teacher even when I leave the dance studio, which, by the way you could use some time there. You look stiff, and your left pectoral is larger than your right. Stop leaning and stand up straight, you're gonna make your legs atrophy." Nava groaned and made a seal, transporting with a Shunshin a few desks away to the chagrin of Kya. She led the man away from them to a more open area and lifted one leg, touching her fist to the inside of her left palm and expecting he'd do the same. There was several meters of room between them now. "Before we get you flinging ninjutsu from your fingertips... close your eyes, focus on your chakra flow. I mean really focus." She was quiet for a second, watching him with that snakey stillness, examining his every inch. "I get the feeling you haven't really taken inventory of it all. Your life energy. It's strong Kairi. The mother has gifted you with all you need. You must only act on it. Feel the universal energy inside of you. Chakra is your blood, your oxygen, it is as expressive as you allow it to be." Without making too much noise so as to alert him, she put her leg down. "My lessons come in steps, Kairi. The first of these is motion. Open your eyes!" she would say, and when he did so he would find the room had darkened, and around the edges innumerable, writhing tentacles whipped and churned about.
Things were about to get intense. "You wish to round out your combat... you think yourself a worthy student of NaKya?" Her eyes fell on Sanae's chakra, her Eternals rotating and morphing into her tell tail azure blue as Kairi's test began. "Prove it to me first. Swim and swim well... or drown!" she would call out weaving a set of seals quickly enough to be surprising. Water swirled to life around her, coalescing into a whip powerful enough to be lethal if Kairi didn't avoid the lightning quick assault. The whip launched directly, intending to impale him to the ground. Kya was eager to measure how well he could dance.
And then abruptly left.

Though she had learned much there was always more to learn. However San lacked the time for such endeavors today. Yet the call to learn was great and earnest. There was still so much room left for her own growth that it would be a disservice to Nagakaborous if she were to up and leave without at least another hour of study. The truth, even she didn't want to admit it, was that she could spare another hour for study. There was more in the world of fuuinjutsu that she could learn. That she needed to learn. So it was that San continued to pore over the texts of the library, learning all that she could of those complex arts. Things hardly fascinated her anymore, but building a better arsenal was always fun. So it was that she acquired new knowledge. Chie arrived at the academy. She visited her place of work not for her typical affairs, but as a method of scoping out some genin to assist her. After all, this mission was going to need as many hands as she could be allowed. She waited by the gates as she expected genin to be darting in and out depending on the amount of training they wished to perform. Once she grabbed a few of them she would meet with Tetsuhiko, Masato, and Sumika at the marketplace.

Kenta Kuhn [ D-Rank | Genin | Worker | Sensor ] It was an early morning for Kenta. He had planned early on to get a head start on the training he wanted to accomplish today. He had started, from a few minutes after waking up, to concentrate on molding his chakra. As he did his morning routine of making eggs and toast, he used some of his extra time to string through hand seals and make sure he was able to keep them fluid and precise. [ 1/5 ]
After he got through his morning at home, he was on his way out the door and into the village. While he walked, he practiced hand seals just a bit longer. After he felt confident, he would practice them with one hand. As he did this, he continued to mold chakra through each activation of a hand seal. A few rounds on each hand for the next ten or so minutes was like enough so that he felt greatly confident. [ 2/5 ]
The walk to the academy felt weird this time around. He was a genin now and it wasn't strange for shinobi to return to the academy building for study and training even after receiving their headband. Kenta mulled it over in his head for while what he was going to do to start on his way up the ladder in his shinobi career. As Kenta walked, he continued to draw in chakra to his core. He felt like he couldn't possibly hold any additional chakra, but he could focus it to one place in his body. [ 3/5 ]
Kenta was getting closer already to the academy. It was strange, but today his stomach just seemed to turn. He was coming down with a bit of extra anxiety before his training session and it really wasn't helping with his concentration on his chakra gathering and meditation. He took a moment and sat on the side of the path up against a wall. He took a few deep breaths and focus his chakra. If he could just urge surf through the anxiety and practice on his chakra control, there wouldn't be any more problems. [ 4/5 ]
The breathing exercise didn't last long. Kenta was quick to kill the nerves and get back on his way. He continued to practice hand seals up until he came up to the corner before the entrance to the academy. Kenta hid up against the wall and thought to himself. "Let's try using a new jutsu. I wanna see how many people are here before going in." Kenta held a one handed seal and concentrated on gathering chakra all over his body. With a bit of effort, Kenta forced his chakra to pulse and spread out all over the area. He extended the range quite a distance, but couldn't get an accurate gauge on it as this was his first time using it. There was only three recognizable chakra signatures nearby and one that Kenta had never felt before. As he walked around the corner, he took a look at the gates to see one of the higher ranked village shinobi. She was waiting at the gates for something, but Kenta didn't want to bother her so he slowly walked towards her, hoping she wouldn't speak to him and allow him to walk into the academy. [ 5/5 ]

Chie's hands rested on her hips as the gray haired boy approached. He was so small. Was he still an academy student. Her eyes detected a headband, which meant that he was a graduate. Even though Chie was an academy teacher, she was not familiar with all of the students that had or hadn't graduated. After all, she was only one woman. Still though, since this boy was clearly a genin, he was going to be perfect. "Hey kid! I'm commandeering you." Chie said as she extended her hand and pointed at him with extreme gusto. "Uzushiogakure requires your service, and I already got permission from the Uzukage to recruit some genin!" Chie said with confidence. She felt particularly confident in this mission because of the fact that, in addition to herself, there was also the higher up jonin ninja Tetsuhiko and Masato. There was very little to fear on this one. As Chie turned and her arm fell to her side, she looked over her shoulder to make sure the kid was following. "Come on kid! You can tell me your name on the way." She said as she started walking. "Mine is Chie Saegahara." She shouted when she was a distance away.

αKya arrived at the academy back in her normal gear the very next day after her taking command of Vortex, or rather getting the recommendation to do so. There were a few more things on her plate to learn before she presented herself to Sanae as someone worthy of power. Her beginnings with training for the day involved diving into the depths of her power as an Uchiha, drawing out that hidden flame deep within. It swelled around her in flaming tongues and tendrils, black as night and flicking at the world around her. With the power she was drawing, there was always a cost, and even her closed eyes could keep the blood at bay. She let it stream from her face, channeling her power through her handseals. The scaled skin of her forearm glistened below the flames, and her azure blue energy licked out among the flames coloring the darkness to a shade closer to herself. That chakra welled up and began to focus as Kya imagined what she wished to have come from it. To begin a halo burst to life above her head, a ring with an equilateral triangle inside of itself. From the front, it could easily have been confused with a crown with the way that the flame hissed and rose into the air in uneven hills. The heat was rising in her immediate vicinity, so much so that Kya's own followers were giving her plenty of space. It was quite like old sermons of hers: when the Truth Bearer moves the smart get out of her way. The flames collected to her back as well, taking the shape of a pair of wings. It was a bit tacky, maybe a touch over the top, but for her it meant something. The flame was a jet from her shoulderblades, wriggling intensely as more and more fire fell from them until she truly did appear to have wings like a fallen angel. They flapped, a symbolic measure, as the blood from her eyes dripped to the floor, and Kya seemed completely unbothered by the heat. She saw the ground, the walls, even some ninja struggling to avoid her body being singed and scorched by the fire as she looked about her surroundings. With her willpower and chakra control, the flames began to die down in heat, but not appearance. She bowed an apology for getting a little out of hand, but at least now she had the proper space to practice.
Next, her flaming visage now could be used in a different way. She prided herself on being some of the best living artillery in the ninja world, and this was why. Few, if any, could claim to be able to fling ninjutsu quite like she could and she hadn't always focused on it like so many ninja around her did. Such were the blessings, as it were. Her eyes focused on the sky as heat and flames began to rise to where she was focusing. She made a pair of handseals quickly and an almost clone made of flames flung itself into the air quickly. She looked down at a target on it's own in the academy. It was marked as the target as her shadowfire self rocketed downward. The potential for destruction was crazy from this one skill alone. Imagine if that target had been an enemy platoon. It woulda been crazy watching them burning out. The flames from impact bursted out and were immediately extinguished by Kya's own willpower itself. Still there had been so much flame. She let her wings and halo also dissipate as she exhaled, feeling the sting in her eyes a bit less intensely, but definitely still there.
For her next trick, Kya turned to normal fire, not wanting to waste her eyesight too much more. She closed her eyes, envisioning her Susano's hand as she crafted the seals needed. Making up handseals on the fly required knowledge of what they represented just as much as a bit of bullshittery. Still, fire burst into life in front of her, initially in a mass of unstable fire like a sun. Chakra control came into play at that point, tearing away the needless mass of the flames and shaping it down. The end result was a giant, clawed hand that mirrored the size of her own Susano'o. She willed it forward and the massive had burned a line ahead of her towards the target, which was a mannequin. It would have closed around her target if she wanted, but she didn't. Instead it returned and she began flinging off the fingers of the attack instead. Each one crashed into the ground and violently exploded. it was less powerful than her hand as a whole woulda been, but it was still plenty strong enough.

Kenta Kuhn [ D-Rank | Genin | Worker | Sensor ] Kenta lifted a finger and pointed it to himself and tilted his head slightly in a "who me?" kind of way. Apparently just because he was a genin, he was being summoned to do some work for the kage. Like always, Kenta didn't speak to the woman addressing him. Just the thought of it froze the genin boy for a moment. Before the nerves were gone, the woman had run off seemingly to where the mission area was. Despite not technically agreeing to do the mission, Kenta was trailing after the older shinobi. He couldn't really pass up an opportunity to get some mission credits and some money for himself. What started off as an easy day where Kenta would complete some necessary training was now turning into an adventure; Kenta's first.

This vast range, however, makes it difficult to detect fine details. You are only able to know that chakra is there, or that chakra is being activated. Things like type of technique, rank, element, etc., are unknown to you.

Footsteps echoed through the empty hallway as a small figure made her way through it. With a barely concealed bounce in her step, Mayume walked lightly but purposefully towards her destination: one of the many small study rooms specially built for shinobi of all ranks to train and study in peace and quiet. Once there, she pushed open the door, and unloaded the scrolls she had held in her arms onto the table. Moving them all to the left side in a semi-organized way, she picked up the first scroll closest to her and wasted no time in opening it to begin reading its contents.
After a few minutes of intense reading, Mayume put the scroll down and let her thoughts go over the content as a self-check if she remembered everything correctly. Essentially an intangible copy of the user, it seemed like this Genso Bunshin no Jutsu, or Illusion Clone Technique, was more of a diversion technique than one with real substance, given that the clone would dissolve upon contact with anything else, and couldnβt even give off a shadow or leave footprints. The dark-haired girl put the first scroll away on the right side of the table, and took another one from the left. This one was more straight forward, and Mayume smiled when she thought about how aptly the jutsu was named. As if using magic, with this Magic Cloak of Invisibility Technique, she would be able to use a camouflage cloth to visually blend in with the environment due to the way the cloth would absorb the background pattern from its surroundings. Repeating the same process as before, Mayume placed the most recently used scroll on the right, and took a new one from the stack on the left. This one read Henge no Jutsu, and it seemed to be another essential technique in a shinobiβs arsenal of jutsu. Wanting to actually try this one out, the girl began molding her chakra and imagining herself as one of the academy instructors. Next, she formed the appropriate hand seals, and when she opened her eyes again she found herself way taller than she had been. Looking down at her much larger and definitely much more muscular hands, she allowed herself a triumphant grin before dropping to the ground for some push-ups. Letting out an audible puff of air as she stood back up again and dispelling the jutsu, Mayume had to conclude that this appeared to be a change in appearance only, and she still sucked at push-ups even if she looked like a buff academy instructor. Picking up the next scroll, Mayume noted with satisfaction that she was making good progress through the stack of scrolls. For this next one, she would require an object or person to swap positions with. Her first thought was to use the Bunshin no Jutsu that she had just learned, but unfortunately, whoever had written the scroll had already thought of that too, and made a small note on the bottom of the scroll that that would not work. After adding that scroll to the increasing pile on the right, the girl rolled her shoulders a couple of times to loosen her muscles. Going through the scrolls was tiring, but in a good way. Knowing that she was actively working to reach her goals felt good. No time to gloat though, on to the next scroll: Nawanuke no Jutsu. Escaping from being tied up or trapped in rope bindings seemed like a very useful technique that Mayume hoped she would not have to use often. It was too bad this technique only seemed to work on restraints made from rope, as this probably meant that there would be other types of restraints made from different materials. Well, that would be something she would have to worry about when the time came. Putting this one back, Mayume closed her eyes and slowly rotated her head. She had no idea how long she had been at it, but her head and neck felt stiff from all that reading. One more jutsu, she promised herself. She could take a break after that. With a determined squaring of her shoulders, she picked up the next scroll. A smile lifted the corners of her lips. Another fundamental technique, and a rather fun one too. The next scroll caused the girl to let out a soft chuckle. Feigning Sleep Technique? She couldnβt imagine why anyone would need that, but she would rather have something available to her but never use it, than to find a use case but not having access to the right tools. With that, the girl poured over the scroll, finding herself increasingly glad that she did so. The next scroll caused the young shinobi to raise her eyebrows in surprise. If she had had mixed feelings about some of the other techniques, then this one definitely took the crown. The Oiroke no Jutsu seemed to be anβ¦ interestingβ¦ extension of the Henge no Jutsu. Putting the unusual jutsu scroll on the right pile of learned jutsu, Mayume stared at the stack on the left. Or rather, what was left of it. She had promised herself one more jutsu, but there were only two scrolls left, and she had been making such good progress. With a long sigh, she picked up the second to last scroll. She really couldnβt stop now that she was so close to finishing her task. Mayume rubbed her eyes before opening the last scroll. She was definitely feeling the strain of studying so much. It seemed like she had somehow left the most complex ones for the last. Instead of continuously re-reading the scroll, Mayume closed her eyes and leaned back as she tried to visualize the jutsu. She played out several scenarios in her head while occasionally checking with the scroll if it made sense or not. There was a drawn-out sign as the dark-haired girl gathered all the used scrolls in her arms. Yet on her lips danced a shadow of a smile when she walked out of the study room. Her back, neck and head hurt from all that reading, but there was a stubborn feeling of pride in her heart that she had accomplished this much today. After returning the scrolls to the Academy Library, she would go home for a well-deserved nightβs rest.
With a possible Kyomei on her puppet, Sadayo would have to shoo away the exorcist and dismiss her samurai minion. The puppeteer didn't say much aside from, "Genjutsu..." as if she was commanding herself to invest herself into finding the materials. It wouldn't be the truth to say that Sadayo had found the appropriate resources too quickly. She didn't know this building as well as the academy in her homeland so things were a little topsy-turvy. Sadayo removed a scroll, opened it, and put it back. Wrong one. The ones she wanted to review were in another scroll entirely, perhaps,and Sadayo continued her search. No. No. Maybe? No. Yeah, I had it. A glimmer of joy could be found in her eyes as she could finally open the appropriate scroll and begin reading.
Upon study, even the power of her own precious voice could bend things that aren't necessarily reality. The power of interest would flow first and grant her understanding. With more than just a couple clever words and tone the weak minded or unsuspecting can be asked to reconsider their immediate action. The power of persuasion makes its listeners to take something into consideration and do something special or take action for a specific cause. The method isn't sure-fire and won't work on just anyone. Yet, when this method can and will work then the user can make special requests that could chance the course of the situation entirely. As for illusions, those four were all she could manage for now. Sadayo returned the borrowed scroll. She put her finger to her chin and tapped it a few times. If Kyomei hadn't broken away prior to arriving, then maybe she could officially make Sadayo her "apprentice" with a few new techniques.

After a good night's rest, Mayume was back at the academy again. The past few days had been spent in solitude, and although she did not particularly mind that, there was a part of her that would enjoy interacting with the other academy students and genin. Right now though, the academy was still quiet and peaceful, probably because it was still early in the morning. Mayume was an early riser and a busy bee, so staying at home twiddling her thumbs was not an option for her. So instead of waiting around for a teacher to show up, she found a comfortable spot on the ground and decided to train to pass the time.
Folding her legs underneath her into a simple, comfortable cross-legged position, the dark-haired girl closed her eyes and momentarily enjoyed the stillness. Then, she opened her eyes and began moving her hands to form a simple hand seal. Her plan was to practice the hand signs. It was something so basic that it was easily overlooked, but going through so many scrolls yesterday had made Mayume realize that precisely these fundamental skills would play a vital role in her success as a shinobi. Mayume had put all the animals in a sequence (following the Chinese Zodiac) to help remember them easily. Squaring her shoulders, the girl began with the first hand sign. Ne, or rat. Folding her pinkie finger down by itself had been hard in the beginning, but she found it became easier with practice. Next was Ushi, or Ox, and Mayume made sure to keep her right hand horizontal while the left hand was vertical when she intertwined her fingers. Moving on, she transitioned to Tora, or Tiger, keeping her thumb and pointer fingers straight up while folding the other digits down. {{ Mission : Simple Training: Meditate [2/5] }}
Rabbit or Hare was an odd one, and Mayume frowned as she tried out several positions with her hand. Finally, she got it when she slid her right pinkie finger over her left hand, keeping the rest of her right-hand fingers gently curled, and her left as if her hand was a gun. Dragon, or Tatsu, seemed complex but was actually easy to form. Mayume intertwined her slender digits together but kept her pinkie fingers extended to form a V-shape, and her thumbs folded over each other with the left one on top. {{ Mission : Simple Training: Meditate [3/5] }}
The transition between Dragon and Snake was the easiest, as she only had to bring her palms together and lift the fingers upwards. Especially since the left thumb was kept on the outside, there was no sneaky change there. Next up was Horse, or Uma. For this one, the elbows needed to be pushed outwards, so that the index fingers would form a neat triangle. All other digits were to be touch at the knuckle, and the way the thumbs folded over made this hand sign look a lot like a bridge to the young girl. Horse was followed by the smaller horse, or goat. Well, ram actually, but goats were cuter so thatβs how Mayume preferred to remember it. Although the base of Hitsuji was formed the same as Rat, the other hand roughly mirrored the base and was stacked on top of it, rather than wrapping around it like a constrictor snake around its prey. As usual, the left thumb was kept on top. Pushing her elbows out again helped to fold the hands over each other for the Saru, or Monkey, hand sign. Nine down, three more to go. Bird, or Tori, was by far the most complicated of the signs. Mayume found herself struggling with getting the finger positions just right, and she took extra time to practice this one individually so that she would be able to make it faster. In addition, this hand sign was associated with Wind techniques. Considering that it was the main element running in her bloodline, odds were that she would be using it often in the future. When Mayume felt comfortable to swiftly execute the Bird hand sign, she moved on to the Dog, or Inu, sign. The last hand sign, Boar, did not seem difficult. However, the dark-haired girl soon found that it required great flexibility in the wrist, to properly execute it. Spreading her elbows out also helped, but she made a mental note to regularly rotate her wrists to increase flexibility and speed of execution. Now that she had refined the execution of individual hand signs, it was time to work on the transitions between hand seals. She began by picking two hand signs to transition between, and then kept performing one into the other and back until she movements became swift and precise. After dedicating substantial time and effort on this, Mayume found that for now her maximum was five six hand seals, depending on the combination. Moving between them and performing them correctly was no longer the biggest hurdle. Instead, she had difficulty coming up with a random sequence to practice, and to memorize it while executing it. A soft sign escaped her lips as she thought it over for a while. Her thoughts turned to learning more techniques, and that is when she realized that she had been approaching it all wrong. She didnβt need to execute the hand signs in random order at all. Brushing of her feelings of stupidity, Mayume focused on the task at hand. She needed to reinforce the muscle memory of certain combination of hand seals, and for that she needed to know which hand seals were required for which techniques. Closing her eyes for a moment, she mentally went over the Maruton techniques that she had spent all day yesterday to learn. For now, she would just go over the hand seals and leave the actual execution for another time. Before she had gone slowly and deliberately first, but then faster and faster until she became familiar with the motion. Now, she felt comfortable enough to start going through the sequences in a higher pace. She took a moment to think of the technique, mentally rehearse its effects and then performed the hand seals required to execute the technique. However, she made sure to not actually mold her chakra. After going through all the techniques twice, Mayume let out a loud sign of relief, followed by a wide smile. Although Mayume felt good about her morning training session, that might not look so to an outsider. If anyone had been watching Mayume practice, it would probably look like she had been practicing techniques but failed to perform them properly, as nothing kept happening.
