As the slavery incident unfolded, Chell couldn't believe someone would do such a thing to anyone. It was a good thing Byakuya stepped in and put a stop to the slave owner. The noblewoman hoped that the lion girl would be okay. She looked pretty shaken up, but maybe things would be better now. Looking over to Rinalia, Chell could tell she was shaken up, too. Rina was the type to see the good in everyone, but to look upon such cruelty...it was probably too much for the princess. She frowned softly, wishing she could have helped, but her friend sounded like she needed space.

While Rochelle followed Arthur at a more personal distance, Nicolai settled for acting as a shadow and kept a short distance between himself and his charge. It would help him see approaching danger better, though he didn't believe Arthur was in any sort of trouble. Still, it never hurt to be cautious. The older blond kept his senses alert as he occasionally looked around the ballroom. Nicolai spotted several people from Ventiaus he recognized from his years of serving the royal family, and some he knew personally. The first one he noticed was his former lover, and that meant Tasha was present. That insane excuse of a mother wouldn't go anywhere without his son when the chance to humiliate him was so high. Alright, so she wasn't intentionally trying to embarrass Tasha. Well, not that Nicolai knew. Regardless, it was exactly what was happening. Though, he wasn't much better than her. Shaking his head, he decided to look around and see if he could spot the poor boy, but it was Arthur who saw him first.
And, he was with the crown prince of Thalassia. Nicolai paled before shooting at glare at Lady Nicolavi. If his son was punished for tricking and insulting the prince, Nicolai would run her through with his sword himself. For now, however, all he could do was watch and hope for the best. Maybe the prince wouldn't find out about Tasha's gender at all, and once Tasha returned to Ventiaus, he'd never see the man again to give him the chance. He looked at Rochelle when she mentioned that Tasha wore a dress better than her and, despite himself, he covered his face with his hand. Was that even a compliment in this situation? It wasn't like the boy wore them willingly....Not that Nicolai would be disgusted if he was. What Tasha wore was his choice, but he knew his mother had forced him into the role of a lady.
The night turned dark after a while when a Thalassian noble approached their crown prince and offered a shifter woman to him. So, that was something he didn't know was a custom in Thalassia. It didn't seem the prince approved of it, however, and sent the noble off after sentencing him to the front lines. The display of slavery had - rightfully - upset Arthur, but at least the punishment the other royal chose was a suitable one. Nicolai watched as Byakuya left with Tasha and he sighed. This was going to be a very long night. Not only was he going to be busy looking out for Arthur, but now he was going to be partially distracted by his worry for his son.i did my best to include most of what happened to establish his presence better. hope this is okay.

Tasha watched as a noble approached the color on his already pale face draining even more as he saw just what was attached to the leash the man had. Attached was a white lioness and in his terror he shrunk back hiding behind the prince and felt a wave of shame. How could he put a prince before himself? His instincts told him to hide behind the older man and that was what he was doing. As the lion before them knelt down and shifted to a woman, Tasha looked stunned. Just what was going on. Would Bya tolerate it? As he started to regain his composure, he saw the anger in Byakuya's face at the treatment of the woman and the young Tasha was actully really pleased that the prince he realized he was falling for. As the noble was dismissed and taken care of his king approached and he looked surprised. His king seemed impressed by the actions of the future king of Thalassia and that caused him to blush unsure why he was doing so. He didnt say anything at the moment, but was pulled towards Bya causing him to squeak slightly as he felt the other's muscles and strength beneath his clothing. As the pair approached the Princess, Tasha remained silent though he did feel eyes on him and looked over to see that the King's retainer Nicoali was watching them. Why was he doing that? ❆ •☾•• Allister perked up quite a bit at Yue's response. "Wonderful! I'm not sure where you will be resting tonight, So shall we agree to meet at the library tomorrow? It's not that hard to find, though nearly anyone can direct you if you don't know where it is. I actually live in the upper rooms there, you can always find me, as the doors are never actually locked." He said. "I sometimes allow people to take shelter for the night if they have no where else to go, you see." He gave another kind smile. ••☽• ❆

╭☆╯Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ╰☆╮ Rinalia left the ballroom to stand on one of the many balconies. She found a bench there and sat down. Her retainers would not be far off behind her. One offered her a drink and some medicine, which she accepted. She sat there alone afterwards, taking deep breaths and holding her hands tightly to her chest. It was obvious she was in physical pain. Tears rolled down her eyes and she tried her best to calm down. But her body would not stop shaking. Finally her retainer sat beside Rina and put their arm around her, doing their best to calm the frail princess. ╭☆╯Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ╰☆╮

Yue nodded. "Sure. I'll come around noon, is that okay?" He could come earlier than that. He's usually an early riser. But there is one thing he had to do first. There is something he wanted to look at in the thalassian forest. If he found it early, he might arrive before noon. He just hoped he wouldn't keep Allister waiting if he ended up late.

Companions Valerie Mood Gentle, Confident Wearing Formal ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ✭ ━━━ The jaguar could sense it. There was a part of her that wasn't broken; and, he very much wanted to see what kind of person she would be if she unleashed that bit. "I don't know exactly who told you that, but something is obviously very wrong with them." Aoeros smirked then and slid his hand up to cup her cheek as he used his other arm to pull her close. "From where I'm standing, you're the most stunning woman I've ever come across. Not to mention a white lion or lioness isn't born often. You should feel nothing but pride for yourself." Maybe he could charm her into coming with him instead of having to resort to literally stealing her away. Not that he didn't mean what he was currently saying. Aoeros really did think she was gorgeous.

Companions Tasha, Rinalia, Chelsea ⇒ Tasha Mood Concerned ⇒ Hopeful Wearing Formal ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ☽ ━━━ Byakuya frowned as Rinalia left, and he felt there was something he could do for his sister. But, he just didn't know what that was. For now, the eldest prince would leave her care to her retainers and, of course, their brother. Hopefully, she would be fine after a while and could get back to enjoying the ball despite what happened. Looking down at his companion, Byakuya offered the noble his hand as well as an apologetic smile. "Forgive me, Tasha. It was rude of me to ignore you like I have been. If you'd allow, I'd very much like that dance with you." He would finalize his "recommendation" in the morning. For now, Byakuya was intent on salvaging whatever he could of the ball. The remaining guests were more important than one foul noble.

The princess had noticed the commotion, but she wasnt going to say anything since she was here to promote peace and it wasnt her place to say what she thought. Slavery wasnt something she would approve of, but if this was a custom in this kingdom what could she do about it? As she watched, Prince Byakuya took care of the situation with ease and it seemed the woman in question was whisked away by a servant to find a proper outfit. As the commotion died down, Prince Tamlen turned his attention to her once again only to say he needed to be excused. "I understand, Im sure there will be time to talk later." She said with a nod before she looked to see that he was following after his own sister. So, he wasnt as cold hearted as everyone seemed to assume. He had a soft spot for his sister.

Rebecca watched as her fiance spoke with the visiting princess for a bit longer before the commotion caught her attention and she looked to see the crown prince scolding a fellow noble. So, it seemed even Byakuya could lose his cool. Well, that made her think that Tamlen had more emotion as well if his brother did. As the drama seemed to end a bit, she watched those closest to the prince before the woman that was taken from the ball returned and was approached by another shifter. Seemed to her that the male was interested in the other and she laughed gently. Well, so something good could come from her being brought to the prince after all. Looking back towards Tamlen she saw that he chased after Rina and hoped that the princess was going to be alright, though she would give the two some privacy. It seemed that she was still just an observer in the ball, but that didnt matter to her to much, she could get a feel for who was a possible trouble maker and who could be a good ally later on. ❆ •☾•• Allister nodded. "That would work out well. I usually have a lot of book work in the morning." He told the other. "Though, I unusually get it done very quickly. The only part that takes a while is sorting the books back into the shelves.. The library is very large and has several floors. When I was a kid I got lost in it a few times." He laughed at the memory. "The librarian back then helped me find my way. I remember being so embarrassed, but he insisted it was no big deal. 'It happens all the time', he told me. Now I help small children find their way among the shelves." He laughed again, shaking his head a bit. "Even my mother and sister get lost sometimes, when they come to visit." He looked back at Yue. "Do you have any family, Yue? My father was a general in the Thalassian Army. He... passed away a few years ago." He said softly. ••☽• ❆

Yue looked to the side, holding back a laugh from the librarian's story. "I'll have to stick close to you then," he said. He imagined about sorting the books and wondered how long it took for Allister to do it. "You think I can help?" Allister's question caught him by surprise and when he told him about his father, Yue felt his heart ache. "... I'm sorry to hear about that." He said. He knew the feeling of losing a family member. "I don't remember anything about my family except that we're..." There's a dangerous glint in his eyes that quickly disappeared and shook his head. "I have a friend. He's a mercenary but I think he's something more than that. He's like a brother to me." He smiled a little at the memory.

He apparently caught sight of what happened, as well. Then again, it would be pretty difficult not to notice someone offering a slave to the crown prince of a kingdom in the middle of a massive ball filled with people. Either that slaver was cocky, or just plain stupid. She'd met street urchins with more brains than that man.
Taking note of her king's glance toward her as the question arose, Rochelle frowned lightly. She definitely had some knowledge on the topic of illegal activity. "Regretfully, I do know a few people in this field. For a short while, I used to do odd jobs for a group of smugglers, including helping move cargo. I thought they were simply moving drugs or other contraband, but..." She began. She had a flashback to the faces of several people, forced into servitude just like the lioness. "I discovered they were slavers. I found out after the job was done. I never took a job with them again after that. I can assure you, they aren't the first people to use people as collateral, and they won't be the last." She added, slightly guilty for having a hand in it. "I still have a few connections in Ventiaus's criminal underworld. I could call in a few favors, maybe get some information." She suggested. As much as she disliked her criminal past, she would use it to do some good, if possible. She glanced at Nicolai, wondering what he had to say on the matter, as he was the one who trained her. Despite having more experience with illegal matters, she could still look to her mentor for advice in most situations. ╰ღ╮ (Fixed!)
