Saph slowly calmed down and looked up to the Lucario sniffling. He asked when she would be back. Right after, Trinity came in with bags of food. Jet was carrying a small bag for himself. He sent down his bag. Trinity zeroed in on the panicked Lucario and sniffling Squirtle. She put down the bags and pulled out baby Pokemon food. She smiled apologetically, "Sorry, Shadow, I thought I would be back quicker. Here let's get Saph fixed up." Trinity said as she fixed how he held the baby Pokemon. She wiped Saph's tears the opened some of the food. She starts to feed Saph as Shadow holds him. Torch woke up and yawned as Jet flew over his food. Happily, the fire bird started to eat.

Shadow was rather relieved when Trinity came back - sure, Saph was actually kinda cute when the little guy wasn't crying, but he had absolutely no idea how to deal with a baby Pokémon other than the standard "feed him, keep him calm, clean up various messes when necessary". He watched the baby Squirtle, making sure not to drop the little guy and spending a fair amount of time mentally trying to convince himself that he did not find Saph adorable, that he was not enjoying holding the baby Squirtle, and that he was most emphatically NOT somehow starting to get attached to the little guy despite the fact that Saph had only stopped being scared of him a few minutes ago. ...On a completely unrelated side note, Shadow was terrible at lying to himself.

Trinity smiled at how Shadow was around Saph. She picked Saph up and cradled him close. Saph napped in her arms after eating. Trinity gave over Shadow's food. "Enjoy." she said smiling to him. After everyone ate, Trinity returned all but Shadow. Trinity have the room a once over then turned to Shadow, "Ok we'll be walking to Pewter City where the first gym is. I think we should stock up before leaving here then we'll see what happens." she said opening the door for him to walk out. She walked down the stairs and handed over the keys to Nurse Joy.

Shadow nodded in understanding before finishing what was left of his food and following, secretly eager to get out of here; while he wasn't quite claustrophobic, staying in an enclosed space too long did make him a tad agitated, not that he'd ever admit it. Besides, he was curious to see what this whole "gym" thing was about.

Trinity checked to make sure Shadow was following then walked to the Pokemart. She walked down the isles to grabbed poke balls, first aid supplies and packs of food that would survive camping. Trinity then picked up a traveling kit for a poke-block maker. "Ok that should do it." she said paying for the supplies. The female trainer then lead the way to Viridian forest. She looked bravely at the forest before her then entered it. Suddenly a young boy challenged her to a battle. Without blinking, Trinity sent out Jet. The boy sent out a Caterpie. Jet and Trinity had a bored look seeing the Pokemon. Trinity ordered Jet to peck at the bug. Jet nodded before fluttering at the bug and dug his beck in to Caterpie's side.

Shadow just glanced over at the battle curiously before abruptly losing interest; frankly, it was pretty easy to see that Jet would win. Instead he began practicing his moves on a nearby dead tree, pummeling it with a flurry of attacks one after another, only glancing over every now and then between attacks to see whether the battle was done yet.
Trinity and Jet were really bored in the battle. This boy had four Caterpie in a row. She just let Jet take control of the battle. Jet smirked as the boy cried over his lose. Trinity took the boy's money then returned Jet, "Come on, Shadow." she called as she moved down the path.

Shadow complied, giving the tree one last Metal Claw before following after his Trainer, going around the crying trainer... mostly because he knew even less about crying trainers than he did about crying baby Pokémon. Not long after they walked away, the dead tree slowly toppled over, developing all sorts of cracks and gashes along its trunk... and then promptly exploded into splinters and sawdust just for the hell of it.

Trinity looked at Shadow, "Hey, Shadow, think you can help me train Torch and Saph? I don't think I need help with Jet but the way I want the other two trained will be interesting." she said. She wanted to bring up the subject to him to see what he thought about it.

Trinity smiled seeing that he was willing to hear her out. "Ok, so Torch will become a fighting type Pokemon once he evolves. I want you to help him with his attacks if possible. For Saph, he needs to be able to handle fighting and steel types. I'm going to focus on building up Jet's speed. How does that sound?" she asked.

Shadow considered the request for a moment, then nodded, plenty willing to help with the adorable little fellows' training. He'd probably have to go easy on them, though, which was a novel concept for him - he was at least two to three times their size, after all, not to mention over double their levels.

"I think what you can start right now is to get Torch to focus some on his training and help Saph get confident." Trinity said truthfully.

Aaand cue the blank look from a certain black Lucario; sure, he had a few (admittedly vague) ideas on how to help with Torch's focus, but exactly how did one train confidence, of all things?

Trinity laughed seeing his confusion. "What I mean is teach Saph to not second guess himself. He is still a baby and hasn't learned what he can do yet. He needs to be able walk next to a strong Pokemon like you and not become afraid or in some cases cry." she said as she moved around a bush.
