[Misguided Royal]

"Ah." Mistfur glanced down at the ground, using one claw to draw a line onto the ground. "If you'd like, I can ask him for you? Or perhaps you can take it up with our leader and she'll ask him." She mewed finally. Though she couldn't help but shudder at the thought of an omen and instantly she craned her neck, trying to spot where Sweetkit had gone off to, letting out a sigh of relief when she saw her with Wolfkit. Her only surviving kin, she wouldn't let anything happen to her.

"Hmm." Sweetkit bent her head down, tail lashing back in forth as she thought. She had to help out her friend, it wasn't fair that Wolfkit didn't know who his father was. Sure, her own father was dead as was her mother, but at least she knew who they were and remembered them fondly. "Oh I know!" Her pelt fluffed up in excitment before her tone dropped to a whisper. "Why don't we go out and look for him?"

Wolfkit shook his head immediately after Sweetkit said to go look for his father. "we can't leave camp. we are only kits and my mom wouldn't be thrilled of it..." he whispered back, knowing Sweetkit was going to fuss over it.

Frostbite: Riverclan warrior
The handsome tom purred, licking a tuft of fur on his chest. "I would be lucky if he was my apprentice." He meowed before turning to the fresh-kill pile. Picking a small fish, Frostbite padded over to the Warrior's den.

Hawkclaw: Riverclan deputy
Hawkclaw bowed her head in thanks. "Thank you. Please come report to me what he says and does. If it seems that there's an omen, I'll ask Featherstar about it."

Mistfur nodded, standing to her paws as she did so. "I'll make sure to do that." Stretching herself out she began to make her towards the medicine den, whiskers twitching lightly as she observed Sweetkit and Wolfkit. "Specklefur?" The young warrior poked her head into the den, eyes looking around to see if she could spot him.


"Well no, not right now. But maybe when we're apprentices." Sweetkit puffed out her chest, proud of what she thought was an amazing idea. "I mean, you're almost an apprentice and in a few moons so will I! I'm sure we could go out looking for him then."

Specklefur's purr could be heard from inside his den, a happy gleam in his eyes. Turning to the sudden noise, Specklefur looked towards the entrance of his den, seeing Mistfur. "Don't tell me you're hurt." He said worriedly, his purr stopping. He padded over to the she-cat warrior, circling around her, looking for any wounds. "I don't see anything.." Specklefur murmured, shaking his head. "Bellyache? I got plenty of Chervil." He asked, looking through his stock, speaking before Mistfur could reply. "Sore throat? I got honey. Cough? Got enough Coltsfoot. I got feverfew for fever or any chills! What's wrong?" Specklefur asked, turning his head to Mistfur, his voice filled with anxiety of the thought of his clanmates hurt.

Mistfur stiffled a purr as she watched Specklefur circle her, unable to get a word in edge wise as she was peppered with questions. "No, nothing like that Specklefur. I'm fine, honestly." Wrapping her tail neatly around her paws she tilted her head to the side to examine the medicine cat. He didn't seem any different than he usually did. "I actually came to ask about you. Hawkclaw was worried about you, she said you were acting a bit odd. Is there anything wrong?"

The tom stopped his rambling at the mention of the she-cat. His heart skipped a beat. She's worried about me? Specklefur thought happily, before cringing at his thoughts. You're a medicine cat! He reminded himself, frowning. With a sudden realization, Specklfur whipped his head over to Mistfur in a snarl. His back was arched, his claws unsheathed. The tom almost looked scarier then Hawkclaw in a fight. "Do you think I'm odd?" His eyes widening in surprise for his harsh words. I didn't mean for it to come out like that! In a sudden movement, Specklefur had a face of regret instantly. "I'm sorry. I don't like it when cats think I'm odd. I misheard you. Forgive me." Specklefur begged, his head lowered in shame. "I was worried that there were no juniper berries left this morning."

Eyes widening in surprise, Mistfur took two paw steps back, hackles raised as she looked at the bristling tom. I didn't say anything about you being weird! I only mentioned your behavior. She felt like yowling but already Specklefur was apologizing to her. "It's alright." Instantly her eyelids lowered and she took on the appearance of a cat who seemed only half awake as she bent her head down to lick at the tufts of fur that had yet to lie down. "No one likes to be thought of as odd." She didn't like it when she was yelled at. "I'll go tell Hawkclaw that you were only worried about Juniper berries." She got to her paws and began to pad out before she stopped and turned around to face him. "I'm going out hunting, would you like for me to get you anything?"

Specklfur nodded, trying to regain his happy purr. "Yes, please." He turned to Mistfur and smiling in apology. "I really am sorry."

She flicked her ear, her way of saying that she'd heard him as she began padding away. "It's alright." She called back before finally exiting the medicine den. Once out she let out a small sigh before padding over to Hawkclaw. "He said he was just worried about collecting enough Juniper berries." She reported to the deputy, glancing back once more to look at the medicine cat den. "I'm going hunting now. I'll be careful to avoid any and all two-legs I see." Remembering where Frostbite had caught his fish, she decided that she'd start there.

Hawkclaw nodded her thanks, her tail finally stopped twitching with worry. "Well, good luck with your hunt." The she-cat called to her clanmate.

Frostwing nodded at what Frostbite said. "that would be a good idea... but that's for the leader to decide if wishes for my kit to be your apprentice." she mewed, glancing over again at Wolfkit and Sweetkit then back to Frostbite.

Wolfkit purred with excitement, nodding at her idea. "ok. I like that idea. now I really can't wait to be an apprentice or warrior." he said, lying on his back happily.

Frostbite nodded, his eyes shining. "I hope to Starclan that I'm chosen." He mewed, before changing the subject. "So, do you miss being a warrior?"

Mistfur only flicked her tail in response, ducking her head down as she exited the camp. Once out, she realized with a start that a cat had already gone out, most likely to hunt, just as she would. Following the scent, Mistfur found herself near the river, peering down to see Cricketchirp. "Good catch!" She meowed before padding down to meet the tom.

Sweetkit purred, happy that he liked the idea. "I can't wait either!" She began pouncing on her paws, circling around Wolfkit as she did so. "You're so lucky! You're so close to becoming an apprentice, unlike me! It'll be moons until I can become an apprentice!" Her ears perked up as she listened to Frostwing and Frostbite talking. "You suppose Frostbite will be your mentor? I bet he'd be a really cool mentor." Her voice dropped down to a whisper once more. "I kinda want Hawkclaw as my mentor. She seems scary, but I bet she could teach me a lot!"

Hawkclaw licked her paws and ran them across her chest, making her fur lay down again. Thank Starclan that there is no omen. She thought, her tail moving happily. Looking around the camp, Hawkclaw caught site of Wolfkit and Sweetkit. Padding over to the kits, Hawkclaw tried to sound warm. "Having fun?" She asked, barely sounding warm. Turning to Sweetkit, Hawkclaw nodded her head. "You can expect a good catch from Mistfur."
