The yellow cub wove his way through the ranks of Ela'wadiyi members until he reached the place where they were starting to mix with the strangers. To his surprise, he could make out smaller forms amongst the strangers. There were cubs there! And some were his age!

Tsi-Tsi's face lit up in a grin at the idea of being able to play with totally unknown lions from this other pride. This was going to be even better than playing with cubs from other Clans!

Pas looked back over his shoulder at his complaining brother, Paki, with a snort. "We're ignoring you because you're whining. Like you always do, duh!" It was pretty obvious to him, at least, that Mom did not like it when they whined and would usually deal with the whiner last of all. And being last of eight cubs was very very very last.

Tseva listened to her cubs, the boys in particular, whining and arguing with each other. None of it sounded particularly serious, nor did it sound as if anyone was in immediate danger of injury. So she focused her attention on the Queen and what appeared to be the leader of the tattooed pride. Already she could see some of the Jini-msemi going right up to lions that they recognized, or had similar markings. This was the home of...the Ela'wadiyi, she'd said? They were old allies of the Jini-msemi, if she remembered correctly. Or, if not allies, at least friendly towards them.

Which was all they could ask for at this point. Beggars couldn't exactly be choosers.

While she awaited an answer from the god and mortal pair who had first intercepted them, Khara watched with no small amusement and pleasure as some of the other Ela'wadiyi and began recognizing kin; it wasn't terribly surprising, all things considered, and it was also good. The bonds of blood should go a long way to put everyone more at ease, and help the case of the Jini-misemi. They were not a threat, and some of them not even strangers, but kin.

Khara dipped her head to the god when he spoke, prompting further movement from the snake, who loosened his coils and slipped to the ground before the Queen lifted her head again. "We would be most grateful to you all, and I would...be in your debt," she responded, her tone making it clear that those last words were not given lightly. "Whatever laws you have or wish to set upon us, we will abide by while we are guests within your lands. We will see to it that all of ours know this, and know that we will treat the breaking of your laws as we would the breaking of our own."

The lioness glanced to her Consort, meaning to ask his aid in the dispersal of this message, but -

Skan knew that he was the one that would need to call the shots here. He couldn't completely depend on his father to always pick up the slack when Skan faltered. Sometimes it was a bit of a crutch that his father hadn't truly died.

"Then I welcome you. Once the sun rises again, you will see not too far from your current location our Stargrove. As long as you remain within sight of it your pride will be safe. There is a strong stream that runs through it, and our hunters will help make sure that everyone is fed enough to recover." He felt uncomfortable saying these things, but he knew it needed to be done. It was what he would want if he was on the other side of this situation.

"We can figure out the smaller details later, once you and your rest for what is left of this night." He looked up at the moon, wondering if this was some sort of strange omen, or just a random change of fate.

Yinehi had finally overcome her surprise and confusion and journeyed out to get a look at what was going on. It wasn't hard, all she had to do was follow the crowd-- and everybody seemed eager to find out what was going on. She pushed her way through all the giant adults until she found a stop she could actually see from.

"Whoa," she murmured to herself when she saw the huge crowd of swampies.

From the corner of his eye, Vyoga watched his brothers but stubbornly refused to move.. until Skan started saying as long as they could see the Stargrove, they would be safe.. and they would be helped to recover and they could finish talking about it later. With that settled, even without a final acceptance from the Queen, he just let go, determined to go and see his brothers. With an apologetic smile to Khara, he finally bounded off to see Bokoboko-- and he was so excited that he tripped right into him, using his brother's body to stop him from actually hitting the ground.

"Hello!" he said, smiling sheepishly at both Haikea'sielu and Nafsi, standing himself up straight again.

Easily moving her attention back to the leaders, Tumaini was nearly bouncing when the Ela'wadiyi leader made plans to welcome them. She could have jumped around but there was so much going on, it was hard to just let it out like that. She, too, didn't wait for a final say from the Queen before deciding everything would be just fine. With a delighted squeak, she jumped at her mother, nearly knocking her over.

"They're letting us stay!"

If Kisuli wasn't so excitable herself or used to having Tumainifu'iga, she might have fallen right over. Instead, she was quick to react and push back, balancing out whatever force her daughter put on her. She headbutted her brightly and looked back at Dongo and Huong.

"We'll have plenty of time to catch up, then."

"Thank you, Skan Kanati," Khara said, bowing her head again. "We would be glad to help you hunt, if you would have us. Not all of us are injured, and most still able."

The purple lioness watched her consort with a small smile for a moment, then turned her head to look for someone else who could help to spread the word about what had happened, and about what they had agreed to (or that she had agreed to on her pride's behalf). Hmm, who else was nearby...ah, siblings! "Kina, Fiore! Could you please see to it that everyone knows that we are guests of the Ela'wadiyi, and that we aren't to leave sight of this place? I want everyone on their best behavior."

Fiore nodded at his sister's request, and loped off to start telling those further back the news. He was met with relieved faces from many.

Domevlo couldn't relax, not fully. He was ready and willing to continue, but he knew the rest of the pride were not as hardy as he. And he hoped, perhaps, that Mono might be able to find and catch up with them now. If not....what would he do? His heart and spirit had slowly begun to heal, with her help. If she was no longer a part of it... His heart would harden to the scars - a impenetrable wall to all. At least, that was how he felt now. Time could tell a different story, but time had already worn heavily on his soul, body, and mind.

His golden eyes looked to Skan, and the monstrous lion spoke to the Ela'wadiyi leader.

"If your hunters need help, I am able and ready to help. It's only right," The wisper-y rattle of the large lion's voice seemed unfitting for his appearance.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 30, 2012 5:48 pm

Skan nodded to the Queen, his eyes shifting to the large form that spoke towards him. "We will need to help to feed all of these mouths," he said.

"First, I must return to my own kin, though some were quick to follow in my footsteps. I will tell them the decision, and set their own parameters in terms of helping." With that, the wanidatsi turned and left to approach what Ela'wadiyi hadn't followed them.

Tawa'di stayed behind, curious, and slightly concerned. This would be quite the test on the isolated life-style of the Ela'wadiyi.

User Image Myrina knew she shouldn't have taken that shortcut and now she was somewhat late to another ceremony. This one particularly interested her as she did have a past that contained the leaving of loved ones behind whether through death or travel. She eyed those around her curiously as most she didn't recognize and some lions had different features from her own. The almost muted whispers of 'swamplands' popped up now and then in conversations she passed. She was almost nosey enough to ask what they meant.

She somewhat felt out of place here as she was unfamiliar with the lands still and tried to find another that was familiar to latch onto. Oh, was that mud? Dare she play with it? Or would that be a social fopaw?

Khara acknowledged Doemvlo with a respectful nod, a nod which was soon followed by another for Skan as he departed. Her gaze lignered for a moment on Tawa'di, though not long enough to be considered rude, only curious. Gods intrigued her, given her family history, but her grandmother was the only one she'd seen in person. For now, the Queen turned away, looking back at what she could see of her pride through the darkness.

As she did so, another, older lioness stepped forward, having hung back close enough to hear the exchange but without intruding. Piliroho, too, was quite intrigued by this god, though for different reasons than her daughter. She approached him respectfully, aware that some deities could be rather touchy, but was clearly not intimidated, either.

"I was not aware the Ela'wadiyi had a patron," she stated, curious. Surely she hadn't inhabited the swamps for years and remained completely oblivious to another deity. She had been prone to letting herself stagnate occasionally, but...no, surely she hadn't missed something like that.

Whump. Sielu bore the 'hit' from his brother with barely a wobble, and bumped his head affectionately against his brother's. "It's good to see you, brother. Whatever your name is now?"

Oh great. If Pit's... isms weren't enough, now his own brother was scolding him. Well he had ever reason to complain! The ground here was funny. It wasn't soft like it had been at home, it wasn't wet either. It was dry. Breathing felt...strange. Lighter, thinner, and it left his throat and nose much dryer than he could recall it ever being in the swamps. There was also far too much sun. The trees here were small, twisted, their leaves thin and spaced too far apart to give anyone a decent place to find shade.

The cub managed to catch up to his family, mostly thanks to his desire to put Pit a good distance behind him, and rolled his ears forward. A lot of what was happening went right over his head, but the conclusion was simple enough for even him to understand.

"Stay?" He looked up to his mother, eyes wide. "...mom I don't wanna stay. I wanna go home."

Pit was too fascinated by the winged creature to give much thought to the ramifications of their journey here. Staying. Their home was behind them. Things were going to change- but that lion had wings.

A curl of envy worked its way through the young lion and he glanced back to the patterns on his shoulders. Wing patterns. Flat. Two-dimensional and useless. He wanted to fly!

Looking back, his ears drooped. Were there others like that? What if they could let him fly? It was something to look into. Perhaps when he was old enough to explore...

Chrodechild tilted her head as she listened. Some of the pride members were making their way to the strangers, making introductions or inspecting them for hurts and bumps from their long trip here. She wasn't the most social type and poor Howi would likely get lost in the crowd easily. Rehema would have her pelt if something happened to her prone son. While introductions were made, she stood still beside her charge.

"It seems we will be entertaining guests for quite some time. How interesting..."

”So many new stories. Every one of them must have something to tell!” He offered. "They came from far away, and it sounds like they've been through an ordeal. We should let mother know, she might even know some of them!"

Rehema was originally from the pridelands. A good friend to Chrodechild's father and apparently she had a lot of loose ends she had left behind when she had come to join the pride. It would do her good to at least speak with outsiders. The pride's ways were hers now but there was always a lingering sense of loneliness to her. Homesickness.

Tawa'di's eyes flickered through many emotions once the older, darker-coated lioness stepped towards him. Surprise, embarrassment, shame. The lion-god wasn't sure if he would ever come to complete terms with what had happened to him, as much of it was done without his consent. The well-meaning of the situation was the only thing that helped him look forward in this uncertainty, and knowing that he could help guide 'his' pride as best he could for many generations to come.

"Relative to Ela'wadiyi history, it is relatively....new," he said, his voice a little cautious as he answered. Clearly the swamp-bretheren were no strangers to the concept of gods, or perhaps they had even had their own in the past. "It is...a long story, but one I am willing to share if you remain curious."

The black and white lioness looked down at one of her (far too many) sons and smiled at Paki. The poor kids were so tired, but they were here, and safe and that was what truly mattered to her at the moment.

"We're only staying here a short while," she told him and the other children. "Then we'll go to a new home." Truthfully, Tseva was as nervous as her children about a new home, but she trusted the Queen to lead them safely. After all, the swamps were a burned-out wreck and they couldn't live there.

Pas made a face. Boy oh boy did Paki whine a lot. And a new home sounded really really exciting! Not to mention that there were lots of other people here to sniff and play with!

Dodging out of the way of his mother's paws, the mostly-white cub crept towards a cub he saw in the ranks of oddly-marked strangers. He could make a new friend while the grownups talked and Paki complained!

Tsi-Tsi came up behind Yinehi and leaned on her - not for comfort, but out of habit from routinely annoying her. Okay, maybe he was a little nervous given all the strangers, big and...small. The yellow juvenile's attention focused on a cub creeping out from the strangers' area.

"Look Yinehi!" he hissed in a loud whisper. "There's other kids there, even our age!" How exciting!

Tawa'di glanced around, seeing how family members were mingling with one another, blurring the lines between each pride. He was a touch concerned on the welfare of these that sought shelter, and they weren't going to be able to organize anything out here in the open.

"Everyone," he said, raising his voice loudly so it could be heard over the chatter. "Please, follow me. I will guide you to water and a bit of shelter. Come morning, we will all decide how to carry on. To my fellow Ela'wadiyi, please help guide everyone to the Stargrove, and make sure no one is left behind!"

[OOC: Sorry for the delay everyone! That wraps up this rp. For the rest of January you are encouraged to have interaction rps between the Jini-msemi and the Ela'wadiyi. (( My wrap-up post! ))

Yinehi started to flail about in response to her brother's contact but she was very quickly distracted as she tried to keep an eye on everything that was going on. There was just too much to take it, she couldn't do it all! When suddenly Tsi-Tsi hissed, alerting her to the presence of cubs, her eyes widened and she started trying to focus on the feet of the larger lions in the crowd.

"How exciting!" she said, verbalizing his thought.

"Vyoga-kwaa," he introduced himself merrily to his brother, trying to shake off the embarrassment of his clumsiness. At least he didn't catch his brother off guard and knock him off his feet. He was smiling when Tawa'di spoke up and starting to move along the crowd.

"I was to hear all about how you ended up here," he said, almost afraid to ask if Bokoboko had changed his name when he settled with another pride. There would be plenty of time to ask all kinds of questions, but now was the time to resume walking. At least now they had a specific place to go.

Her excitement renewing her energy, Tumainifu'iga waited for no one and skipped off to follow the crowd without a worry about who was moving along with her. She was tired of walking along but they were done for a little while and she would have time to relax and catch up with long lost family later. Now she was keen to investigate the pride full of strangers, even if it was just wandering along on her own. Her mother could watch her from her brother's side if she wanted.

"Come on!" Yinehi called to Tsi-Tsi, leaping forward to lose herself in the crowd of lost Swampies, "Let's go help." No time like the present for making more friends, now that her brother had pointed it out, she was eager to see who was in there. And help guide them, she guessed-- though truthfully, she was much more likely to get in the way.

((Sucky mousey wrap. XD))

Tseva smiled in relief and began ushering her children in the direction the strangers - the Ela'wadiyi - were guiding them. Water, shelter, sleep...she was looking forward to them all with a burning passion.

With practiced paws, she kept the lot of children in line around her and from straying too far.

"You can play with the other kids in the morning," she informed Pas and the other cubs who had been eyeing the Ela youths.

Pas had nearly made it free before he felt a large paw pulling him back in line. The young lion pouted, turning a pleading expression on his mother. Who promptly told him that he'd have to wait until morning. Morning! He wanted to play now!

But it seemed he had no choice. The youngster semi-obediently followed his mother and siblings.

"Yeah!" Tsi-Tsi agreed, heading over with his sister. Maybe sisters weren't so bad after all. He hadn't really wanted to go over to the strangers all by himself, but with Yinehi at his side there was nothing to fear!

It didn't matter that a lot of grownups nearly stepped on them, they were helping!
