Rex laughed a bit nervously, remembering now that he was actually running from a group that shared blood with Zevi, unbeknownst to her. When Hemani, their leader, discovered that Rex wasn't as dead as she'd planned - and she probably already had - she would come looking for him herself. That was a scary thought for Rex. He had...a past with that one. That, and she was tall. He could never quite get over the fact that she had four inches on him.
"Well, you actually may want to sit an eventual fight out. Because the folks that want me dead at the moment are a bunch'a thawed frost trolls. My weapon dealing is in direct competition with theirs," he grumbled with a grimace as he descended the stairs. "Jeez, could it be any colder down here?"
He rubbed his bare arms and chest a bit, looking around for the spare set of clothes he'd left here the last time he'd been in. He opened a few cabinets, not really recalling where he'd set them. It was bothering him to go without a shirt for so long, though - his scars were more sensitive than the rest of his skin, and cold was especially tenderizing. That, and the scars that laced his back like crosshatching were pretty numerous, deep.

"It's better to have someone with you in a fight, especially against other trolls. Besides, I told Lira I'd do my best to take care of you and I can't do that if I sit out, can I?" she exhaled a breath to see if it would be visible in the vault, though it was not and she shook her head with a laugh "It's not that bad down here, but I guess I'm still used to things being so cold that ice crystal can form on your skin..." she said watching him in his search, wondering what the story behind each of his scars was.
Zevi considered offering him some of her furs but with him being a foot taller than her they wouldn't be a good fit, which meant they would do very little good. "If it's too cold for you down here, we can always huddle up like we did on the nights that were too cold, even for us."

"Thanks, Zev." Rex was relieved that she wouldn't mind fighting some trolls of her own blood if it came down to it. He hadn't wanted it to result in tension between them. The Lira bit, though, raised his eyebrows. That little brat was always looking out for him.. He said nothing about it though, instead continuing to look around for the clothes.
When she brought up huddling, Rex paused only slightly. He looked over his shoulder at her with a solid grin. "While normally I would take a pretty troll up on that offer without a second thought, I don't think it'll be necessary yet. These bunkers are able to generate their own warmth, they just need a little time to kick in before you can feel it."
He was sorely in need of affection, but he knew women. They had to be trusting, warmed up and above all interested for even a kiss to happen.

"No worries, Zev."
Rex smiled back at her, almost grinning. Damn, she had a gorgeous smile. He shook off the butterflies in his stomach though and went back to looking. Finally he found his spare clothes, and sighed. They were summer edition, really - a black tank top and olive drab cargo shorts. He'd leave the pants on for now, but the shirt was a must. He also pulled out the spare cot and a pair of blankets in the event that either of them needed warmth. He pulled the shirt on thankfully, then began setting the cot up.
"Ah, there's plenty to do. You'd be hard-pressed to get bored if you weren't shy of travelin' and had the money to do it," he replied to her, swearing briefly at the troublesome cot before continuing. "Personally, I just tend to get myself into trouble while I'm tryin' to make money. But I'd suggest you don't follow my example."

"Sounds like it'll be an interesting time while I get used to things." with the way things sounded she was excited, perhaps a bit impatient, to be able start exploring the city. A bit nervous that she'd not be able to adapt to the way things worked, but determined. On their way to the bunker Zevi had heard something she wanted to investigate, music. It was more than just the heavy, rhythmic beating of drums that she was used to, perhaps that's where she would start.
"Right then, you get into it and itty bitty me will get you out!" she teased, giving him a light poke on the shoulder before taking one end of the cot so that Rex would have an easier time opening it. "these look like what we would build for the young to sleep on, except metal and cloth instead of wood, stone, and furs. Ours didn't fold either."

"Yeah, but I'm still taller than you," he said in a teasing tone, ruffling her hair. "Fortunately we're fresh out of tents here. Most of the architecture is solid enough."
When she asked him to elaborate, he ran his hands through his hair, tapping his horns along the way. "Well, mostly it's just business. I sell weapons illegally, so do they. They sell en masse, I sell to individuals and smaller groups. However, we take each other's business from time to time and their leader is a bit too territorial for a female, I'd say." He grimaced and sat on one of the cots. "Hemani - that's her name. She and I were also briefly an item, but she's a b***h and she showed it from day one. Never again."

"By a foot!" she shook her head to get her hair back into place, Zevi knew she was counting her horns in her height with that statement, hopefully he wouldn't call her on it. Before flopping down onto the Cot opposite Rex Zevi pulled off the first of two layers that she still had on, it was definitely getting warmer in here, hopefully it wouldn't get too much warmer. "Damn, you weren't kidding when you said this place could generate heat..."
Mulling over what Rex told her for a moment before responding "Not all frost tribes are led by males anymore, some of them run like the all female jungle tribes do." she blew a puff of air up at her hair "though I guess that doesn't explain her since she's a city troll, but maybe that's what's causing it?"
Pressing the back of her hand to her mouth she yawned, then shrugged at Rex. "At least you realized it and got away, don't usually got much of a choice up north." she paused so that she could turn onto her side and face Rex "Especially not if your chief decides that trading is required to settle a conflict, or introduce new genetics to prevent inbreeding. Which is what caused some tribes to be formed with female leaders, they weren't happy about having their choice taken from them."
