.::Stark & Rem & Geisha & Will & Argonne::. Stark was feeling fine about fighting Abraham, until he revealed his power to use Miracle Eye, and zapped James to within an inch of his life. He turned his attention to Stark, but was caught in the face with a Shadow Ball from Geisha. He coughed, then teleported away, launching a Psybeam at Stark, who just barely avoided it, sending a volley of Psycho Cuts in Abraham's direction. The Alakazam teleported once again, this time thankfully into the path of a boulder from Rem's Ancientpower. With a cry, the Alakazam fell back, surely about to be crushed under the stone. He concentrated, then blasted the rock apart and leapt to his feet, oddly spry for an old man. He turned and glared at the group. "This foolishness ends now!!" He raised his staff, launching a wide burst of Psychic energy in a ring around him, blasting the assembled parties off of their feet. Stark went sailing and struck a pillar, sinking down to the ground. The Alakazam wasted no time, and launched an Extrasensory at Stark. The pain was unbearable, unlike nothing he had ever experienced before. He cried out, but there was no respite, no mercy. Abraham laughed. "All who enter here shall be judged!!""Well, then," said a voice behind him, before a massive blob of shadow blasted the old man off his feet, sending him skidding comically across the floor. His staff clattered against the floor, where it was picked up by Geisha. She smirked at Abraham. "That includes you, yes?" Abraham snarled, reaching out as though to strike Geisha, before a bolt of white light blasted him against the wall. Argonne followed up the Flash Cannon with a Psychic of his own, pinning the Alakazam to the wall like an insect. Straining, Argonne targeted his third eye, closing it shut. Abraham's face was one of pure fear as Stark approached. "W-wait! You know not what you do!! You could be as gods yourselves!! Champions of Lord Oculus! You could-""Not interested," said Stark, his eyes flashing pale as he launched one final Psycho Cut at the cult leader. Abraham's head slid off his shoulders with almost comical slowness. By the time it hit the ground, Stark was already running. "Let's go!!" he shouted, looking back at the others- the cultists were getting closer, by the sounds of things, and Stark did not want to be here when they arrived.

  Gabriel & James
Gabriel was hit by the wave of psychic and was quickly sent backwards as he gained and regained his balanced again and again as the attack forced him backwards across the ground and through the air. James was lucky enough to avoid the attack entirely. It simply burst through the air and struck all those who were standing. The Mightyena, both thankfully yet not, was still lying on the ground from the last attack. When the attack cleared and Gabriel was free to move again, his steps took him not to his enemy but to his friend. James lay on the ground still, his mind reeling. The attack had been a strong one and the Mightyena had never experienced a mental intrusion before. The result was a rather disoriented pokemon whose feet jerked lightly under their own power. Even as he tried to get back to his feet, he didn't seem to be able to. They just wouldn't respond the way he wanted to. He let out a low whine as the Weavile came over to his side. Even words didn't seem to want to come out right, it was frightening. Gabriel looked back at the scene to see the Alakazam die. That was good, but he couldn't really grin about it. If they didn't get out soon, it was game over. "Argonne, help me out over here! I can't carry him on my own!" If the Lucario was strong enough to carry James on his own, then that was fine. Otherwise they could each take a set of legs.

.::Stark & Rem & Geisha & Will & Argonne::. Argonne had just released Abraham's corpse from the wall when Gabriel called out for help. He grit his teeth, still reeling from the damage inflicted on him, and jogged over to the injured Mightyena. He took a deep breath, then picked up the Mightyena easily, slinging him over one shoulder. "Come on!" he shouted, running toward the others, who were already at the end of the hall. The voices of the cultists were getting louder, closer. Rem and Will started to follow, but Rem hung back for a few seconds, glancing at the door into the shouts were coming from. Will stopped momentarily. "What the hell are you--?" but his question was cut off as several glowing green boulders were conjured in front of the doorway, blocking it. Rem opened his eyes and nodded. "That'll hold them for a while longer, but not by much. Let's go!" And with that, he flew off, leaving Will trailing behind. After a few moments, they all ended up at the door at the far end of the tomb. It seemed small, considering what lay behind it. Stark looked at the door, then back to Geisha, who was still carrying the staff. He turned to the rest of the group. "Is everyone ready to finish this?" It didn't matter either way- the cultists had reached the door, now. There shouts turned confused for a moment as they tried to organize themselves against Rem's barrier. Sick as it was, the only safe haven was inside that room. Without really waiting for a response, he nodded to Geisha. She floated over to a small hole in the floor, just wide enough for the staff to fit inside. Without hesitation, she plunged it in. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, beneath the sounds of the cultists' shouts, came a small, melodic hum. Like a tuning fork. Eventually, the sound got louder and louder, and higher-pitched, until it was almost unbearable. As it reached its peak, the door itself seemed to vibrate, the eye carving starting to glow. With a strained creaking sound, the door slid aside, revealing the room within. Just as this happened, there was a loud thud as the cultists managed to force open the door. There was a cry of shock and despair at the sight of their fallen leader before they once again turned to anger. The crowd turned right toward Stark and the others, sprinting across the tomb at them. "Inside!!" Stark shouted, leading the team into the room. Stark looked back to make sure everyone was inside, to see Geisha still by the staff. The cultists were close now- he could see the anger in their eyes. "Come on!!" he shouted, amid the sounds of explosions from the cultists' attacks. After a brief moment, Geisha pulled the staff from its place, and sped toward the now-closing door, making it inside just as it shut behind her with a massive thud, oddly choking the sounds of the crowd outside off completely. As he gave Geisha the time to catch her breath, Stark took the time to inspect their surroundings. It was oddly mundane, for what it supposedly contained. It was a small room, with what appeared to be beds lined up against the walls, oddly preserved, considering the decay of the rest of the temple. Argonne walked over to one of the beds, setting James down on it. Rem blinked a couple of times. "It... looks like a hospital."

  Gabriel & James
Right, good. Argonne was strong enough to carry James on his own, that made everything a bit faster. Gabriel took even strides with the Lucario just in case. He was hurt, but not nearly as badly as anyone else had been. Unlike Stark he hadn't taken any direct attacks and unlike everyone else, well, he was naturally immune. Even if the Alakazam had found a way around that he still had some resistance, as long as it wasn't a direct mental intrusion. So he took up the rear. His step was just in time with Argonne's and was mixed with frequent glances back behind him. If an attack came through he would block it and they would keep moving until they got somewhere safe. If Argonne went down, that was more than one life they'd lose. He wasn't risking it. As he stumbled into the room, his first and foremost concern was his friend. Gabriel lightly smacked the side of James face with the back of his hand. "Wake up. We've got to get moving." James's legs moved about, seemingly at random. But the motions were more controlled than they were before... he needed a moment but he'd be back on his feet soon. Right, that meant focus on the other thing. They needed an escape route. He glanced around quickly as he took in his surroundings. Rem was right, probably... it looked sort of like a hospital. There were a few sort of beds here and there. Empty jars rested on an otherwise unoccupied shelf. Something drew his vision, however. A curtain. It had been pulled shut around one of the more pronounced beds... As he walked up to it, he noticed a faint glow from inside. It seemed to pulse slightly, as if in recognition of his presence. Gabriel quickly ripped the curtains down and stumbled back in the presence of what he immediately recognized as an enemy. It was a giant... mass. A sphere, black in colour. Spikes of purple swirled throughout the inside as they twisted into nothingness in it's center. The colour and shape within were constantly changing. A series of candles had been lit below it. Each one burned steadily, as if in an offering. Both around and on the bed gold trinkets had been piled and organized into some kind of bizarre, fractured altar. "What the hell is this thing?"

.::Stark & Rem & Geisha & Will & Argonne::. Stark and Rem turned at Gabriel's commentary, then stopped, dumbstruck by what they saw. It looked like... a black hole. It was really the only way to describe it. A mass of darkness, with streaks of purplish color, collapsing ever inward upon itself. Stark, Rem, and Geisha moved toward it, wearing confused looks. "This... this is the thing that was supressing my abilities earlier, but... it's unlike anything I'm familiar with." Stark shrugged his shoulders in discomfort. Even with his immunities, he could feel the sense of wrongness emanating from the object. "Rem?" he said, hesitantly. "You think it's safe to scan?"Rem moved forward slightly. "One way to find out," he said, closing his eyes. He reached out with his thoughts, scanning the object before him. It was... difficult. There was no real mind to scan within it. Simply an alien sort of presence, one that seemed to have no interest in them. Rather, it seemed to welcome Rem's mental touch, as though drawing it in. He felt other presences, as well, tied to the thing, as though feeding it. He followed the pathways left by the other presences, and had his suspicions confirmed- they were the other cult members, feeding this thing with their thoughts. He delved deeper, though it threatened to consume him as well. He looked for any evidence of its origins, its motivations. He saw only one thing before being forced to retreat- a final moment of a man, as he lay dying in the very bed the orb sat over. Rem withdrew, panting heavily. "This is it... this is... what did this... to the cultists... It sustains itself... by feeding on their thoughts." He took a deep breath to recover, then continued. "It maintains a contact with all of those Psychics out there, feeding on the majority of their brainwaves in order to sustain itself. But it doesn't seem to have any other motivations than to keep itself in existence. From what I saw, it's.. just a remnant. A shadow of a man that died here, without any of his motivations, his thoughts, his hopes." He shook his head. "It's just... there."Stark looked at the sphere, puzzled. "So what do we do with it now?"

  Gabriel & James
Gabriel looked at the thing as he halfheartedly listened to Rem. He instinctively didn't like it, just from seeing it. Just about all he picked up from Rem speaking was that it seemed to be behind the brainwashing. In other words, it was their god, it was what was keeping them there, and it was the mission. "Simple." Gabriel took a few steps forward. He had confidence in his immunity. "We break it." Without the slightest trace of hesitation the Weavile plunged his claws into the orb. At first, it just caved inwards. Like a half-filled balloon, the sphere simply gave to the pressure of his attack. But then, very suddenly, it expanded outwards and engulfed his hand in darkness. No... It was more like... it was leaking? The purple swirls in the sphere disappeared in an instant and with barely a moment's notice it let out a massive, painful screech that echoed through both one's ears and one's mind. The resulting explosion couldn't be called "psychic". Although it was created by psychic energy, it wasn't something with such finesse. It was more like a wild and violent escape and took everything with it. The resulting blast flattened the gold into the ground below it, shattered anything precious and sent the team flying back from the origin. Gabriel's world seemed to black out for an instant. The next thing he knew, he was on his back a fair distance away. He could feel a sharp pain in his back and shoulders... He didn't know what it was just yet, but the jars in the room had shattered and sprinkled the floor with pointy glass shards. "Ow... Didn't think that would happen..."

.::Stark & Rem & Geisha & Will & Argonne::. Stark was about to protest to Gabriel's comment when the Weavile simply acted upon it, thrusting his claw into the sphere. He watched as the sphere appeared to leak its being everywhere, and then felt, rather than heard, its dying scream as it erupted. And erupt it did- the resulting force explosion knocked the entire group off of their feet, blasting them to the far end of the room. Stark struck the wall behind him, and was consumed by darkness. When Stark came to, he was kneeling in broken glass, wincing as he shifted in it. He groaned as he looked around, taking a cursory examination of his teammates, deciding, for the time being, that they were all alright. Stark winced as he stood completely, the glass cutting into his feet and his shoulder blades. He heard Gabriel speak, and scoffed. "Really? Punching the psychic mass wouldn't have repurcussions...?" He groaned again. Then, to his surprise, he heard a tapping in the room. He waited for a moment, then heard it again. He turned toward the sound, and was surprised to hear it coming from the door. He cocked his head, then heard it again, more insistent this time. He walked over to Geisha, and picked up the staff in his teeth. He looked about, and saw a similar hole in the ground to the one on the outside in front of the door. With some difficulty, he placed it in. This time, surprisingly, there was no preamble, no theatrics- the door simply opened. On the other side was a somewhat groggy-looking Kirlia. The Kirlia jumped back, then started trying to speak. "A-are... are you... okay?" Stark was puzzled, then regained his composure. "Er... are... are you?"The Kirlia nodded, then looked back at the other Pokemon in the main hall. Most of them were unconscious, but some were stirring, or drowsily exploring their surroundings. She looked back at Stark. "That thing..." she said, pointing back into the room behind Stark. "It's gone... right?" Stark thought for a moment, then smiled reassuringly. "Yes... yes, it's gone. We took care of it."The Kirlia heaved a sigh of relief as Stark turned back to where Gabriel lay. "Hey, Gabriel, I think your plan worked- all of these people out here seem to be okay."

  Gabriel & James
Seemed like everyone else was alright, from the sounds of it. There wasn't any screaming or crying... probably no one was dead. He half-turned on his back to snap back at the Absol. "Well I knew it was gonna explode but I didn't think it'd be that bad!" More importantly he figured it would just be a psychic explosion and he's walk through it completely unfazed. It doing what it had done to the air and room had been beyond the scope of his considerations and he was hurting for it. Of course, he didn't really need to tell Stark that. It had potentially been a fairly dangerous choice, so perhaps it was best to keep that to himself. He glanced back at the Absol after having lost track of him for a moment. Shifting was effort, and also pain. "Well of course it did. I literally ripped it apart." Well... that meant everything was done. That meant it was time to pack up and go home. Gabriel turned over onto his front and placed his hands against the--oh, lovely, there was glass all over the floor. The Weavile took a moment to sweep away two clean spots before placing his hands on the ground and pushing himself back onto his feet. A small piece of leather was left on the floor beside him. The blast had ripped one of the clasps off of the sheath and left behind the useless flap of leather in favour of sending the sword hurtling across the ground. He picked up the crimson sheath and looked it over quickly. No damage, as he had expected. He took a glance over at James who was still lying on the bed as he had been before. His mouth was open, his eyes were lazing off to the side and his tongue was hanging out. Gabriel gave him a sharp poke in the stomach, prompting the Mightyena to burst into laughter. "Haha, very funny. We're done... it looks like everything is taken care of." James let on an amused grin. "Good. Well then, lunch for a week?" "Five days. Nice try though." James got up to his feet and hopped off the bed with ease. Apparently he had weathered the blast much better than the rest, having been lying down and much further away to begin with. After he landed on his feet he walked out into the hall and a little past the Kirlia before taking a look around and turning back to Gabriel. "Looks like you have everything under control. I'll be headed back. See you tomorrow at the usual place." James turned towards himself and grabbed hold of his tail with his teeth. After a few careful bites, he disappeared much the same as the Meditite had earlier. Gabriel stretched out (oh, that hurt) before taking a quick glance at the waking mass. "Let's get these people home."

.::Stark & Rem & Geisha & Will & Argonne::. Stark spared a nod toward James, who seemed in much better spirits than the rest of them, as he disappeared, back to the Guilds, obviously. Stark stretched, wincing in obvious discomfort, as Gabriel did the same- with the same results, by the look of his expression. Stark turned to Gabriel as he spoke up and nodded. "Right," he said, turning to the congregation, which had more or less come to. He cleared his throat, then spoke in a loud voice, "Alright, people! I understand most of you are disoriented after being released from the control of the presence that was down here. But I need your attention, please! If all of you will direct your attention up here!" When they did so, Stark nodded to Argonne, who stepped forward, his Aura blazing to life. "We will lead you out of here- if you could please all follow us, particularly Mr. Argonne here, we should accomplish this with as little trouble as possible." He nodded to the rest of the team, then moved through the crowd, the group following little by little as they passed, as they made their way toward freedom. ==~== .::Outside the Mystic Portal...Stark heaved a sigh of relief as he stepped out of the barrier and into the clear air. He winced a bit at the brightness of the sun, but it was a good pain- it meant they were finally out. He blinked a few times, the turned back to the rest of the team, as they emerged from the Portal, just ahead of the former cultists. There was a collective cheer that grew louder and louder as more and more victims made it out of the barrier and into the sunlight. Stark even saw a few of them kneel down and kiss the ground in thanks, or burst into tears. Stark smiled, then turned to Gabriel. He placed a paw on the Weavile's shoulder in a friendly way. "You did good today. Thanks for all of your help." He grinned as he pulled the Explorer's Badge out of his bag, and gathered the rest of the team around him. "Now let's get the ******** out of here," he said, pressing the button and whisking them all away in a burst of light. .::End Mission!

Upon the return of Team Blacksteppe and their two companions to the Guilds there was little there for them except for to part ways with one another and say farewell for the moment. A rather frazzled looking Farfetch'd was waiting for them at their arrival, shifting nervously as he watched after a certain unconscious Meditite that lay on the ground beside him. The dual Type informed them that they would be rewarded for their services the next day upon hearing the results of their Mission, and then scurried off, most likely to inform someone about what he'd been told and leaving the child to the group.
Even as they watched, the boy began to stir slightly from his slumber, blinking his eyes open blearily and looking about himself in bewilderment. "Where...am I...?" He looked this way and that before his eyes finally focused on the group themselves, a question was poignant within his gaze.
Before he got the chance to ask them anything however, there was a sharp crack and a Medicham appeared, expression bright with anxiety with another Meditite beside her. "Jeremy? she called out, apparently having sensed the presence of her now-waking son. It didn't take her long to spot him, and in an instant she was at his side, arms around him. "Jeremy!" she said delightedly hugging him tightly enough to cause the child to begin to call out in protest and embarrassment.
The other Meditite watched his mother's affectionate display with a mixture of awkwardness and relief before approaching the group in her place. "Hey thanks a lot James," he said to the Mightyena with a grin, "And you too...Gabriel was it? Mom's pretty happy at least." The Meditite gave a nod to Team Blacksteppe as well, assuming they had helped the two although he clearly didn't have any idea who they were. "We got you both something, that we'd like you to have." The boy offered a sack to the two that they would find to be filled with 10,000 PD though whether they shared or kept it was quite up to Gabriel and James. Looking over at his mother who was still smothering his younger brother with love, he rolled his eyes. "I'd better take care of that," he said with a hint of amusement, "Later." He went over to attend to the other two and, after a slight bit of a fuss the family disappeared, leaving the group be.
The group was left to their own devices for the evening, leaving them to part ways or stay together as they pleased, and the next morning a parcel arrived at Team Blacksteppe's Room for both themselves and their associate.
Rewards:
Black Belt Black Glasses x2 Psychic Gems x1 Miracle Eye TM x1 Calm Mind TM x1 Ancientpower TM Deluxe Chest Recruit: Psychic Type of choice (For both of you) ((Feel free to split these and the 10,000 PD from before however you like. Very nicely done you two, I liked the way you wrote this up and some of the aspects I got to see of the cult. Overall good writing style and flow back and forth between both sides, if anything the descriptions were a little vague in some parts, I know likely because you wanted to keep things going and so on, but there were a few things that could have had a bit more description to add more flavor to the text.))

 Gabriel
Gabriel took his money and left the "touching" scene with the quick promise to Stark that he would be back the following afternoon. The scene didn't really mean much to him. He cared not for the mother, who had already paid him. He didn't care for the kid who was in the end nothing but an objective and there wasn't even a thought for the older brother. The only one there he was interested in beyond the team was, of course, James. But they would catch up regardless... they had made a promise. First and foremost, he needed a place to sleep. And some food. Food sounded nice. When he arrived at their door the next day (having obviously already known where they lived) he was free of any weapons or possessions save for the bag that he had been given by the mother. It still contained the full amount of the money inside. The Weavile clenched his hand and gave the door three sturdy strikes before waiting patiently for the door to be opened. It was a bit before dinner, now--not too long. Not too close either though.

 Gabriel
Gabriel was indeed surprised, though not quite for the reason Will would be likely to think. Gabriel had about a foot on the average Luxio, but now that Will was evolved the situation was reverse. He was about a foot taller than Gabriel. It was a significant difference to have to look up instead of down. Not that he showed it that much. He was here for business after all and he had a damn good poker face. They were friendly enough though as was he and dinner sounded nice. He had been planning to head somewhere after business had been concluded and anything he had needed to sell had been sold, but he wasn't against changing his plans for the evening. "Sounds good." He was in the door in a moment with a smile, either walking with or past Will depending on whether or not he followed right away. "Dinner before business sounds nice."

.::Stark & Rem & Luna & Geisha & Will & Drift & Mako & Siegfried & Argonne & Nariko::.Stark nodded at Will and Gabriel as they came in, filling the last of the bowls on the tray Rem carried, who then carried the tray over to the table, carefully setting out each one in front of the team members. Rem turned slightly as he did so, and gave a friendly nod in Gabriel's direction. "We saved you a spot at the end there," he said, nodding at the chair closest to the doorway. "I can get you a bowl after I'm done with all of these." He turned his attention back to his task, setting a bowl in front of a somewhat-impatient-looking Argonne, by how he was tapping his flute on the table. Stark nodded as he filled a few more bowls. "I know you're here for business, but... no sense missing out on a good meal, eh?""Damn right!" barked Will, leaping into his seat. He grinned, waiting for his soup, obviously still retaining a bit of his childishness. Geisha, who was sitting next to him, rolled her eyes, turning her attention to her stew. Mako and Nariko watched Gabriel with an inquisitive eye, Nariko the more interested by far, her glance flitting from Stark to Gabriel and back and forth again. Finally, she spoke. "S-so... Mr. Gabriel... h-how did you and M-Mr. Stark meet, anyway?" Siegfried, who sat next to her, gave a polite shrug in Gabriel's direction, as though apologizing for her mannerisms.

 Gabriel
Gabriel grinned at the comment, but more-so than that he grinned at the atmosphere. "I don't get much that isn't raw or from a restaurant lately so I can't complain." Of course, he usually ate his food raw to begin with but having some normal cooking once in a while was nice. His strides took him to his chair ahead of Will where he sat down and leaned back. He was relaxed and his posture showed it. Of course, why wouldn't he be? Business was what he had come here to do but it wasn't happening quite yet and he was among friendly people. And, of course, being relaxed simply suited him. The comment from the very quite, anxious Dewott pulled both his eyes and another grin. "We got absolutely wasted in the night club about two days ago. There was a capable group in front of me and I needed a bit of hired help, so it worked out well." One might've expected him to be surprised by the appearance of a foreigner from the Five Islands, but the reality was that Gabriel had never received any kind of formal education so there were a great many pokemon that were new to him.
