It's good to know he regrets Garfield. Speaking of Bill Murray

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou: 3.5/5

Weird movie. People seem really divided on it, but I enjoyed it. Especially Harry Selick's animation (as always). Bill Murray and Willem Dafoe were great. I liked the deadpan parody/homage to Cousteau style it used. There was something missing, though. I just don't know what.

And a soundtrack heavy on David Bowie is always a good thing.

Let Me In: 5/5

Definitely in my top 3 for 2010. Amazing and possibly better than the original in some ways. Criminally overlooked.

Splice: 3.5/5

This was pretty weird and I actually disliked both scientists quite a bit. Poses some interesting questions and the girl playing Dren is a little too good at playing a weird creature. Especially with how much Nightmare On Elm Street remake made.

I can see where people are so divided with this. Odd ending.

Really?

I started watching the remake and it was absolutely terrible. They turned a coming of age film into pseudo-horror film. What was once a beatiful movie got turned into an American abomination.

It certainly didn't need to be remade, but it's hardly an abomination. Even Americanized it was a fine movie. It was just a different movie in the end.

I don't mind that the horror was played up a bit more, but it's unfortunate that such a sacrifice in subtlety had to be made in the process.

I thought it did a few things better, but the original is still pretty much perfect.

I was honestly expecting something of Jason X quality.

I suppose I should watch the whole thing, but the first half hour disgusted me so much I really couldn't continue.

Winter's Bone was really good and moody. I wouldn't be surprised if Jennifer Lawrence were to sneak up on Natalie Portman for the Oscars. She had a great performance with such a sparse script.

And I can't imagine why John Hawkes isn't in the running for best supporting actor anywhere that i've seen.

Mary and Max 5/5

This is one of those movies that is nice on the eyes, sweet, and if you liked it the first time you watched it will most likely never grow wearisome of it.

It's all wrapped around a fairly simple concept and somehow makes you laugh despite the dark undertones. (Though to be fair I have every respect in the world for stop-motion features.)

I'd like to hear someones comparison between the original Gulliver's Travels and the newer one.

Last movie, movie I watched was The Great Escape, starring: Steve McQueen, James Gardner, and Sir Richard Attenborough. I'd give it a 5/5 for several reasons. A.) It pays attention to detail recreating the camp, B.) It was fun, C.) I actually cared if the main characters would escape or get caught.

Monsters

Was interesting. Not really sure what to think yet.

Public Enemies

Was pretty decent. Bit long. Sound quality was low for some reason, but the performances were really good.
