+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Waiting until he felt the vibrations of his phone, Dae-hyun quickly checked the message and was relieved to see that he wouldn't have to go out himself. "It's okay, Kaoru. I just texted a friend of mine, and she's brining over what you need. She shouldn't take too long, so don't worry about a thing." Happy to hear Kaoru's voice calming down a bit, Dae-hyun leaned against the door frame and strained to hear anything his could from within. Even though he and Kaoru didn't know each other well, he couldn't bring himself to move from that spot, afraid that Kaoru might do something if he left. Chuckling nervously, Dae-hyun had to agree about hospitals. "Yeah, I always hated how it seemed so empty, even though there were so many people there. It was like...even though all of the doctors and nurses were doing their best, there was still no heart in any of it."

Standing straight up suddenly at the sound of Kaoru's request, Dae-hyun said, "Of course. No trouble at all." Checking his phone one more time before dropping it back into his pocket, he grabbed the handle, but paused when he heard Kaoru list off the names of the flowers he had given him. Smiling to himself, Dae-hyun pulled out his cell phone once more and wrote a text with the three flower names in it. Saving it to drafts and closing the phone once more, he promised, "I'll be sure to look up their meanings as soon as I get home tonight." Finally opening the bathroom door, Dae-hyun was only half surprised to see the state things were in. He'd expected Kaoru to be a bit of a mess and the same for the room, but actually seeing Kaoru's exposed arm made him a little nauseous. It had turned a weird colour, and had a bunch of tiny pricks in it.

Hearing Kaoru's admission, Dae-hyun couldn't help but ask. "Do you mind if I ask why you did that?" Although he was certain that Kaoru had his own reasons, he had to wonder what kind of stress would lead someone to do that to themselves. As much as Dae-hyun loved partying, even when he was incredibly drunk he had never hurt himself quite that bad. However, he'd seen people do horrible things to themselves and to others in the past, and it made him a little sick to think about it. What good did it do to hurt people? Especially yourself? Although he couldn't really understand it, Dae-hyun knew that Kaoru hadn't meant to cause so much trouble by it. In fact, he had probably been trying to fix something that was wrong with himself and was just going about it the wrong way.

Kneeling down on the floor next to the other man, Dae-hyun took what few bandages were left and helped to wrap half of the wound. Ignoring Kaoru's apology for the previous day, he focused on just trying to get his arm covered as much as possible, even though there weren't many supplies left to work with. Looking around, he couldn't see any other dressings they could use, and sighed as he looked back at the other man's arm. Giving Kaoru a weird look when he asked about the movie, Dae-hyun could only shrug for the moment, not thinking that it was really so important. "Honestly, I don't think you should be going anywhere until your arm heals up, if you can help it. There will always be another day for the movies, but if you don't take it easy, you might get an infection, and then you really would need to go to the hospital."

Leaning back and sitting on the cold floor, Dae-hyun looked Kaoru over again, sizing him up and trying to figure out exactly what to say. Honestly, Kaoru was a mess, and certainly one of the oddest people he had ever met. In the past he'd had drinks with people who had a million piercings or tattoos, some who could do weird tricks and others who were just awkward or obtuse, but never had he met anyone who overshadowed Kaoru in his mind. Watching as Kaoru pulled himself up and tried to fix his make-up, Dae-hyun left him alone, thinking it would be rude to offer help at every little thing. Shaking his head and smiling in spite of himself, Dae-hyun looked up at Kaoru from his seat on the floor and said, "I don't mind at all, Kaoru. As long as I know that I was able to help you out, I don't think it was bothersome at all. I mean, it would have been worse if I had come over a few days later and found you dead or something, so I'm glad I could give you a hand when it really mattered."

Hearing the doorbell ring, Dae-hyun jumped up and hurried out to get it, knowing who it would be. When he opened the door, a woman, about his height, with shoulder-length, wiry gray hair stepped in, her metal-toed boots clicking against the ground. She had on a zipper-up grey top with random buckles on the front and a short, puffy grey skirt that almost looked like a miniature tutu. Handing Dae-hyun a small grocery bag, she put a fist on one hip and started asking him things, not looking very happy. She tried to walk past him, but he blocked her, making up an excuse as to why she couldn't stay. The woman craned her neck to try and see past him and into the open door, but couldn't get anything more than a fleeting glance. Saying something nasty to Dae-hyun as she turned around, the woman walked outside and shut the door lazily behind her.

Bringing the bag over to Kaoru, Dae-hyun said, "Sorry about that, but look; she brought just what you needed." Pulling out a box of gauze and two rolls of wrapping, Dae-hyun took off what he had just put on a minute ago and began to rewrap the whole thing with extra care, wanting it to last as long as it had to. Humming slightly under his breath, Dae-hyun smiled as he worked, even though no one else seemed in the mood to. When he finished, he took a step back to look at the bandages and said, "I think that should hold it for a while. Of course, you might want to change it in a day or so. I'm sure you know more about this than I do," he let slip, not really meaning it the way it sounded. Standing there awkwardly in silence for a moment, Dae-hyun scratched the back of his head before asking, "Do you need me to help you clean up around here? Or maybe...stay a little longer?"

Kaorubit his lip, hissing through his teeth as Dae-hyun had worked on his arm. Squeezing his eyes shut, he sighed in full relief when it was over. When he had stood, he gently touched his arm, afraid to answer the question he had been asked. "… Punish." He whispered, not wanting to look at the other. Brought it upon himself, feeling he needed to be punished for what he did. But everything else that was now broken in his room, which now had a broken door, was out of uncontrollable disappointment and anger towards himself.

Kaoru was, again, disappointed in himself, hearing the comment Dae-hyun made. He wanted to spend time with him, but his arm seemed to stand in front of that happening. Kaoru nodded in agreement, not wanting to risk actually having to go to that place of sickness. "Right…" He muttered, almost pouting as he looked at the ground. After hearing the other man's next few words, He couldn't help but laugh at the morbid thought. At least he felt cared for, at the moment, smiling to himself, but he jumped as the doorbell had rung.

He looked rather nervous, not knowing who it could be; It wasn't what he ordered from the night before, it's still just a bit too early. But Dae-hyun had bolted away from him, leaving Kaoru confused and contemplating on whether he should be worried or disappointed. Kaoru peeked out of the bathroom, wondering what was going on. A few voices, including his guest's, and then the door shutting. He stepped to the side, letting Dae-huyn reenter the bathroom. "Who is she? Why did she come here? Why was she upset? Did she see anything…?" Kaoru thought of al these questions all at once and tried his hardest to not jumble them.

Kaoru clamped a hand over his mouth, groaning in pain as the man bandaged his arm again. It hurt very much still, but he was happy for the help, especially from this beautiful man. Kaoru took a deep breath, glad it was finally over and done with. His fingertips traced over the gauze carefully.
"I can clean up myself…" Kaoru said to the offer, and as much as he wanted to cry, scream, and beg the man to stay, even lock the doors and keep in the small room with him, Kaoru shook his head. "I need to remodel in a little bit… I ordered paints, a door, and a few other things that should hopefully be here later. If you can help me with the couch and table and move them out, I guess…" Kaoru tried to think of some ways to keep Dae-hyun to stay without sounding desperate or rude. He looked to the other shyly, using his good hand to tug at a loose strand of hair behind his pierced ear.

Being struck with an epiphany, Kaoru sprinted out of the bathroom, taking the key from his pocket and heading into his messy room. So many broken things inside, including the poor beaten chair. He rummaged through glassware until he found a small bottle, only a few inches high. He smiled and ran into the bathroom, filling it with water before having one more lap to the other end of his house towards the outside door. Hesitating, he tightly, and awkwardly, grabbed the handle, running outside. "Flower, flower... I need flower~" He sang quietly to himself, looking at each of his bushes and patches in the garden. Seeing a gardenia barely budding, he smiled and took that one, letting it sit in the water. Registering that he was outside, he quickly slammed the door on his way in. Finally slowed in his tracks, he handed the tiny white bud to Dae-hyun.
"I won't tell you what it is until it blooms." He said in a determined voice. "And it takes a while." He added, smiling childishly.

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Hearing Kaoru's admission that he had been punishing himself, Dae-hyun could only sigh and shake his head slightly. He knew it wouldn't do much good to lecture at Kaoru about not hurting himself and such, but it would probably do more harm than good to criticize him like that. Instead, he had a brilliant idea. "Well, how about this," he started, hoping that he would be able to lend a little more help to his neighbor. "In the future, if you ever get the urge to hurt yourself again, give me a call instead. Talk to me about whatever it is that's bothering you, like why you want to hurt yourself, or anything you feel like, really. That way, I might be able to give you a little distraction. I'm sure it'll make you feel better to have someone to talk to about this kind of stuff, right? And you don't have to worry about scaring me or making me uncomfortable. You really aren't as frightening as you seem to think you are."

Not surprised that Kaoru had questions about the uninvited guest, Dae-hyun explained as much as he could without going into too much detail about his personal life. "That was Rusty. She's the lead signer and guitarist of one of the bands that play with us a lot of the time. I told you that I texted someone to bring me the stuff you needed. She's the one I asked, since she isn't busy today either. Even though she seems kind of harsh at times, she's usually pretty reliable," he explained, hoping that Kaoru didn't think of her as a bad person. Frowning and scratching his head a bit at the next question, Dae-hyun tried to explain, "Well, she always expects more from me than I'm willing to give her, and she always gets annoyed whenever I deny her anything. She got pissed off one, because I was paying more attention to you than to her, and two, because I wouldn't let her come in and meet you. I didn't think you'd be comfortable with that."

Shaking his head, Dae-hyun said, "No, I don't think she saw anything. She tried, but she didn't really have a reaction, so she probably couldn't get a good look inside the bathroom. Don't worry about her, though, she's gone now." Closing up the box of gauze once more and setting the left-over wraps on top, Dae-hyun wondered whether or not Kaoru was trying to spare him from further trouble, or if he just needed time alone to relax. Either way, he felt as though he had already overstayed his welcome, and so gladly agreed to go. "Ah, well, just let me know when everything comes in and I'll be glad to give you a hand. I've got work on weekdays, but on weekends I should be free to come over and help out whenever you need me. Did you want me to move those now?" he asked, not sure if Kaoru was still talking about when the supplies came in.

A little concerned when Kaoru started running around the house, Dae-hyun nonetheless let him go without saying a word, noting that he was actually smiling. Watching as he ran back and forth with a glass jar of water, he wasn't too surprised to see the other man return with a small, white flower bud sitting in it. Taking the jar happily, Dae-hyun couldn't help himself but chuckle at Kaoru. He seemed like such a messed up person, but beneath it all, he was just as sweet and quirky as any of his friends. There may have been a lot wrong with him, but there were also many things that he had gotten right, which made Dae-hyun smile. "You know Kaoru, you're a pretty cool guy. Whenever your arm gets better, let's make some plans to go to the movies; whatever you want to see. And I'll be sure to take care of this until it blooms, so...let me know if you ever need me, okay? That's what friends are for." Deciding it was time for him to stop bothering Kaoru, Dae-hyun said his goodbyes and promised to stop by the next time he was free from work.

Kaoru felt a strange feeling in his stomach as Dae-hyun told him he should call instead of hurting himself. It was a nice feeling, something he faintly could remember. And those added words, "You really aren't as frightening as you seem to think you are." His heart leaped and danced in joy. "Thank you…!" He said happily. Living alone the way he did, he never had the kind of chance like this; even his old house mate left him, but that was a different story. The fear of being left behind again like that hurt Kaoru more than anything, but that fear shrunk in the back of his mind.

As Dae-hun answered his frantic questions, he shifted slightly. Strangers were another of his worries, but meeting Dae-huyn was heaven. But it would be a bad situation if he had been forced to see the girl. He shook his head, rubbing his shoulder. "No, no… I wouldn't like that." He admitted. "I don't need anything now, no… I guess… I'll call when I need help…"He mumbled. Kaoru thought over his ideas and decided he wouldn't let the man see anything until it was all done.

Kaoru was still smiling as Dae-hyun spoke to him. He certainly hoped his arm would heal quickly; he wanted to stay beside Dae-hyun as long as possible. And then that word; friends. Kaoru wondered if his heart would explode out of either joy or anger; Just friends? Or should he be thankful to have a friend at all? He chewed on a lip ring, trying to keep himself from showing either overjoyed or resentment. "I'll… See you later then." He said as Dae-hyun said his farewell. Unable to keep himself, Kaoru lunged to Dae-hyun, embracing him tightly for a moment before pushing himself away and running to his room, shutting the door behind him. He took a deep breath, holding it in before exhaling. His shivered in faint bliss as he leaned on the wall and slid to the floor. It's been so long since he'd felt that kind of human contact. Kaoru smiled, or more like grinned, to himself.

Kaoru stayed in his room and as at least two hours went by, he stiffened at the loud sound of a truck. It was probably part of what he ordered. He crawled to the window, peeking outside to see boxes of things being unloaded as well as cans of paint. Excitedly, he left his room and, without hesitation, answered the door. He did not step outside, but only hide behind the door as the boxes and thing were brought inside. It would be a while longer, thankfully, before the furniture would get there. Timidly, Kaoru asked if they could move the few thing that were inside his home.

Sighing and paying by card, Kaoru quickly shut the door, looking into the box filled room. With one arm, and his opposite at that, he thought it would be challenging to try and paint, but he attempted anyway. Placing plastic along the floor so it wouldn't stain, he found the roller and opened the can of light purple paint. It was a nice colour, actually, and he carefully tried to coat his walls evenly. Even if his house was small, it was still a long time, especially with his currently crippled arm, but he was satisfied to see he was able to paint the walls purple. Dropping the roller, he wiped his face, smearing paint on his cheek accidentally. It felt so soothing in the room now.

He worked hard, taking other paints and opening box after box, decorating the room. He even found his pinned sets of butterflies and pinned them to a wall in the shape of a butterfly. He painted small groups of the insect, large and small, carefully taking time to add details to them. Perhaps not the most realistic, but it he was satisfied his the outcome of his room. Losing track of time, he hadn't realized how late it actually was when he finished the room. His hand and face was full of paint smears, and now he needed to get rid of all these things inside so the furniture could come. Kaoru sighed, walking into his cold room, looking at the phone. He walked over to it and picked up the receiver, but without dialling anything, he heard one more truck outside. He hung up the phone, peeking out the window. He jumped for a moment, out of zeal instead of his usual nervousness. Or perhaps it was all that paint and paint thinner? He could admit, he did feel a little bit 'loose' after painting in fumes for so long.

The men he hired were movers and so he hid away in his room after letting them in, letting them deal with ridding all unnecessary boxes and things and moving in the furniture. It was quick work, which surprised Kaoru. But then again, he's only a single man compared to perhaps a group of four or five. He paid for everything, again, by card. He was sure he quite a bit left in the bank by now. Not that he ever bought anything like this before. He looked at the room, and smiled. The nice violet shade with butterflies decorating the wall. An embroidered chaise longue of golden tan colour replaced his old couch, as well as a new mirror coffee table and even an embroidered armchair in a French style. Perhaps It was a little overdone, but Kaoru certainly like the new living room.

He returned to his own small, dark room, picking up the phone. He dialed the number for the house across from his, but hung up at the first ring. He sighed and tried to dial again, but ended up slamming the receiver back to its holding place. With a last try, Kaoru dialed the number, but when he nervously reacted to try and hang up, he dropped the phone instead on accident, but it hadn't hung up. Picking the phone up with haste, he waited for someone to answer. He wanted to show Dae-hyun the new room immediately, but as a better excuse to get him to come over he had saved the new white door that was to replace his broken one, wanting to ask for the other's help to install it.

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

For the rest of the day, Dae-hyun decided stay in his own house, checking that everything had made the move and still worked, texting his friends to be certain that they had his new address, and spending a little time with his boa. Once everything he could think of was finished, he stood in the middle of his living room and stared at the space around him. There really was nothing to do when he didn't have anyone over. Sighing, he figured that he would have to get used to it, and sooner rather than later. He'd moved away from everyone else for a reason; he needed his peace. If nothing else, the neighborhood seemed quiet, which was exactly what he'd been looking for when he started trying to find a house. Now that he had it, however, it seemed a bit unnerving. Shaking his head and ruffling his hair, he decided to make the best of it, and learn to live on his own.

Sitting down in from of the television, Dae-hyun remembered the box of DVDs he'd brought along with him, and got up to open it. Shuffling through, he picked out some that would keep him entertained for the afternoon and popped one in the player. After watching for a few hours and making himself a quick dinner, Dae-hyun opened up a beer and sat down on the couch again to see when the news would be on. Even if the news was boring, he still liked to know what was going on in the world sometimes. However, as he was flipping through the channels he heard the house phone ring, and sighed as he got up to answer it. Walking into the kitchen, he grabbed the only wired phone he kept in the house, but heard the ringing stop abruptly. Staring at it curiously, he heard it ring again, but waited a few chimes before actually answering.

"Hello?" he said, interested to know who was bothering him so late in the day. "Oh, hey Kaoru. What's up?" he asked generically, not wanting to bring up his earlier offer again unless Kaoru really needed to talk about something. However, it seemed as though he just needed help installing the new door he'd bought. Remembering earlier about offering his help, Dae-hyun reluctantly said, "Yeah, I'll come over and help you put it up. Just give me a minute and I'll be right over." Hanging up, Dae-hyun shook his head as he stuck his drink back into the refrigerator. While he wanted to be able to help Kaoru, he had been looking forward to just relaxing for the rest of the night so that he would be energetic the next day at work. However, his neighbor needed him, and knowing how unstable Kaoru was, Dae-hyun was nervous about denying him something that he'd made a promise on.

Throwing on a denim jacket as he walked out the door, Dae-hyun made sure to lock it tightly before heading across the street. Knocking on Koaru's door, Dae-hyun wondered how long it might take the two of them to install a new door. It didn't seem too complicated, but when he thought about how bad-off Kaoru's arm was, he realized that he would probably have to do the entire job himself. Although he didn't mind helping out, he wished that Kaoru could have waited until the next day after work to call him. It wasn't as though he had anyone else living with him, so he didn't really need the door for privacy or anything. Still, the way Kaoru hesitated every time he had to go outside made Dae-hyun wonder if having more doors around him made him feel better. Anything that could calm that guy's nerves couldn't be a bad thing to keep around.

            ((it's okay~! I don't mind~ mine's kinda craptastic >>;;; ))

Kaoru grinned happily as he had hung up the phone, and turned to step outside his room before tripping over broken binoculars and planting his face on the door. Screaming profanities he kicked the door and it fell off it's hinges. He jumped at the sound of it hitting the floor but sighed. At least it wouldn't need removing now. Taking the door with one hand, he dragged it out of the way into a corner. He waited and it felt like another hour before he heard the door knock. Maybe it was because he hadn't bothered venting out the paint fumes. Running to the door, he opened it immediately. He reached out and took Dae's hand, pulling him inside before shutting the door. The strong scent of paint had filled the small apartment home by now. "Hi~!" he waved excitedly to Dae-hyun before hopping over to his room's open doorway.
"I redecorated everything, too! But I can't install the door. Do you like it?" Kaoru felt giddy beyond belief, biting his fingernails. "I put my butterflies up." he added, taking hold of Dae-hyun's arm subconsciously as he looked at all the artwork he made on the walls. "Do you think I should paint some on my door, too?" Kaoru began to feel light-headed but shook his head, running fingers through his hair. His mind was jumbled and he couldn't fixate on a single thought.
"Uhm... My old one broke, too..." he said modestly with a giggle and a snort shortly after, pointing at the cracked wood in the corner. He hadn't realized he was still partly clinging to Dae-hyun; or the fact he couldn't feel anything in his wrapped arm for that matter. He had laced his fingers with Dae-hyun's, swinging their arms childishly before finally releasing the other man. He jumped to the new door leaning on the wall and grabbed a couple of necessary tools from behind it. "Uhm... I don't know how..." Shaking his head, Kaoru didn't bother to finish his sentance. "Thanks..."

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Dae-hyun's head spun as he was unexpectedly pulled inside. He watched, confused, as Kaoru bounced off the walls and proudly showed him all of the redecorating he had done in just that one day. It was impressive to see how different the house looked on the inside, now that the main room had be redone in a much less depressing colour. However, something didn't seem right about Kaoru, and almost instantly Dae-hyun caught a whiff of the strong scent of fresh paint. Putting two and two together, he patiently waited for he other man to finish speaking before taking the tools from his hands. "Thanks, Kaoru. I'll put the door on now, but...I want you to wait outside. I think all the paint fumes are getting to your head."

Looking over at the new door leaning against the wall, he said, "I don't think this should take very long, but you never know. I'll come get you once I'm done, so why don't you sit on the porch? Or work on your garden? Those flowers you gave me are still really pretty sitting on my coffee table, by the way. I'm still waiting for the white one to open, too." Since he'd sat both vases on his living room table, Dae-hyun passed the flowers Kaoru had given him many times a day, and every time he caught a glimpse of them out of the corner of his eye, it made him smile. He still hadn't remembered to look up their meanings, but he was so unmotivated that he figured he would get to it eventually, maybe when he didn't have anything else to occupy his spare time.

Setting the tools down on the floor next to the open doorway, Dae-hyun got to work steadily, not wanting to rush through the job and do it wrong. Grabbing the new door and fitting it into the frame, he tried not to think about the mess he had seen behind it just the other day, since it reminded him of Kaoru's problems. Even though he wanted to help out and to give Kaoru some kind of stability he could cling to, there was something else within him screaming to keep away, something that was afraid of the man getting too attached to him. However, whenever he felt that Dae-hyun would always tell himself to stop being so presumptuous; that he wasn't so awesome that just anybody would fall for him. On top of that, Kaoru never really showed any signs of being anything other than a troubled young man who needed a friend. It wasn't as though there was anything pointing to him being dangerous. Dae-hyun knew that he had to stop over thinking things.

Once he had gotten the door on tightly, Dae-hyun stepped back a bit and looked it over, making sure he hadn't made any marks in the wood or put it on crooked. Moving everything away, he grabbed the handle and tested everything out, proud to see that the door would swing open and closed just fine, with the handle and hinges gliding smoothly back and forth without even a hint of a squeak. Glancing at the broken, old door sitting against the wall in a corner, Dae-hyun wondered what Kaoru would do with it. There obviously any way to use it any longer, but it seemed a waste just to throw out such a large piece of wood. Deciding it wasn't his issue, Dae-hyun put the tools back where Kaoru had gotten them from and went to the front door. "Kaoru?" he called out, stepping onto the front step. He wanted the man to see his finished work.

Kaoru smiled and nodded to Dae-huyn's orders. The fumes? What fumes? Well, it did smell a bit weird, at the moment. But he didn't see any gas or anything. Kaoru shrugged it off, listening to the rest of Dae-huyn's words. At the mention of the flowers, Kaoru grinned. His stomach tightened and his heart squeezed with joy. So, he still kept them? And his little secret flower... Rocking himself on his feet, swinging his arms like a child for a moment, Kaoru looked to the side, at apparently nothing before, nodding. "Thanks!" He said softly.

The fear of being out of his house seemed gone or any other feeling for that matter. Only a strange sensation that lurked in his head that made him want to just smile and giggle at everything. Thanking Dae-hyun quickly, again, he rushed outside, hopping into the soft grass beside his garden. He slid on the slick grass for a moment, when he did so, and sat on his forearms and knees. It instantly made his head feel light with so much sudden movement; his vision blurred and for a second everything was black before he regained himself. Kaoru shook his head and lay on his back in the grass, looking up at the sky. Taking a deep breath of the fresh air, he stared at the sky he hadn't seen in so long. Sure, he's gone outside for gardening or butterflies, but he never looked up. Not once. It was such a nice colour of blue, and it was dark, too... His thoughts were wandering off to simple things, not having the ability to bring together complicated thoughts due to his slight delirium.

Turning his head, Kaoru looked across the street to Dae-hyun's house before turning his head to his garden. He smiled and reached out to touch the flower. His head was now clear of everything to the point he wasn't thinking at all, really. Playing with the flower, he hummed to himself, waiting for Dae-hyun to finish. Another wave of that light-headedness hit him, making him let out a slight groan. Perking, he was distracted by a small butterfly that had incited itself to his garden. He smiled contently, ignoring the new throbbing headache he developed. "They're so pretty..." He said to himself, entranced by the fluttering of its wings. Kaoru sighed, reaching out his hand slowly to the insect. It fluttered towards him before he clasped both hands around it, drawing it close. He peeked in his cupped hands, seeing it fluttering in the dark frantically.

Being directly in front of his room, he was able to hear Dae-hyun working, and looked over to the window whenever any noise had stopped for a moment, wondering when he'll be done. Time felt so slow, still. Kaoru took a deep and slow breath through his mouth, exhaling after a few moments. He closed his eyes and his hand fell to the side, still holding the struggling butterfly in a loose grip. Hearing Dae-hyun, he stirred lightly, mumbling "I.. feel so tired..."

His lungs began to burn as he started to cough a few times. "Thanks.. Dae-hyun." He whispered tiredly. "I can sleep now..."
With that being said, he felt his conscious began to slip away with his head spinning and throbbing. The tiny insect in his hand escaped, fluttering far away from the garden. Remembering he was outside, he reluctantly opened his eyes, muttering a few incomprehensible words. Sitting up, he rubbed his head. Slowly standing, he stumbled before standing straight and walking towards Dae-hyun. Kicking his foot as he stepped closer, he tripped and caught himself on the other man, holding onto him. He hadn't realized how all he was until just then. But it was only a moment until he let the thought slip past him. He didn't even concentrate on the fact he was clinging to the man he loved to dearly before he pushed himself away. "I... Gotta work tomorrow." He mumbled, "From two to five I'm on break if you..." Losing his thought, Kaoru shook his head before continuing. "If you want to hang out."

He groaned again, his palm against his temple. "My head, it's throbbing so much..." He complained. "I need to lie down... See you... later..." He added, not wanting to seem too rude. He slipped past Dae-huyn, into his house. Glancing at the new instalment he smiled. "It looks great..." He added before heading towards the couch. He hadn't bothered to even shut the door. Lying on his stomach and curling up, he held his hands tightly over his head. It didn't seem to smell as bad now; he could tell the difference right away. He hoped he'd only have a light headache when he had to get up. His mental clock woke him up very early, a few hours before his working time, so there wasn't too much time lost if he woke up later than usual. He was sure his head would keep him drowsy longer.

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Hearing Kaoru's voice, Dae-hyun noticed him lying on the grass, and was glad to see that he'd gotten out of his house without any trouble. It was nice to see Kaoru so relaxed outside, but his coughing began to worry Dae-hyun. Thinking of how much time it must have taken for him to paint the entire room, along with his decorative butterflies, Dae-hyun knew that Kaoru must have breathed in plenty of paint fumes. "Yeah, no problem," he said awkwardly as Kaoru pushed past him.

When Kaoru flopped down on the coach, Dae-hyun panicked a little. From what he could tell the room still hadn't aired out completely. On top of that, he didn't know how safe Kaoru would feel with his windows open all night, even though their neighborhood seemed fairly quiet. Scratching his head, Dae-hyun walked over and shook Kaoru's shoulder, trying to figure out what to do with him. Would it be better to leave the windows open and risk the man's anger the next day? For some reason, Dae-hyun didn't feel comfortable leaving him alone in that room; what if he got sick and couldn't move?

Shaking Kaoru gently again, Dae-hyun asked, "Hey Kaoru, you can't sleep there. Come on, get in your own room, it'll be safer where there aren't any paint fumes." Struggling to haul Kaoru to his feet while he was nearly asleep, Dae-hyun managed to move Kaoru into his own bed. Pulling back the covers and rolling him under, Dae-hyun was careful not to touch his injured arm too much. There was still some discolouration around the bandages, and it worried him. Grumbling as he walked over to the window, Dae-hyun looked around and noticed how messy things were. Trying not to think too much about it, he cracked the window slightly just in case, and left, turning off the lights and locking the front door behind him.

Back in his own home, Dae-hyun felt his own eyelids growing heavy and checked the clock. Shrugging at the time, he decided it was a good enough time for sleep, and headed up to his bed. The next day, almost as soon as he awoke, he headed off to work as always. A while after he'd finished his lunch, Dae-hyun checked the clock, and saw that it was just about two. Remembering what Kaoru had said, he took a small break and stood outside with his phone. Realizing he hadn't gotten Koaru's number, he instead dialed up one of his friends and had them check a phone book. With a quick thanks, he hung up and dialed again, this time with the number he hoped would connect him to Kaoru.

Kaoru whined, not wanting to move away from the comfortable couch. But he felt himself lifted, and lazily opened an eye to see what was going on. He saw Dae-hyun and he was lead into his room. Being too worn down to really care about the mess inside or the fact his lover crush was taking him to bed, he only snuggled in the covers of the small grey divan. Mumbling something that was meant to be a sentance, he almost instantly fell asleep. He would have wanted to stay asleep if it wasn't for his alarm sounding off so early in the morning. Grabbing the nearest object, he threw it at the alarm to knock it off his desk on the other side of the room, hitting his phone aswell. Sitting up, he hissed in slight pain. His arm felt fine; in fact he used the injured side to rub his head. A headache had developed and he felt slightly disoriented, not quite remembering details of the day before. Sone redecorating and Dae-hyun coming over, that's all ge really tried to recall. Sighing, he slid out of bed tiredly, he headed to the bathroom. He hadn't taken a proper shower in a while, mostly a lazy clean up, so he decided to take one before logging into his work. Removing the bandages with ease, he smiled and carefulling showered; making sure he wouldn't hit his arm on something.

Afterwards, he found a pair of loose track pants and put them on, going commando. Not like he needed to be properly dressed in a suit or polo for his home job. Piercings decorated his body subtly; his collarbone, nipples, belly button, and even in the grooves of his hips where his legs connected. He left only an eyebrow piercing and lip ring in his face. No need to be donned in metal for over-the-phone work. He carefully rewrapped his arm, applying a pain reducing gel over certain parts. He was glad to see normal colour was already returning to his deep purple arm.

His day went by slow, taking calls from people. Some average tech help, others just being stupid. Thankfully, nothing too horrible to handle. And then his lunch break came. He happily logged out and left the desk to gather all the broken things and clean his messy room. It didn't take long; it wasn't very big or decorated with a lot of things. Wondering if he'll be treated with a visit from Dae-hyun he looked at the clothes he had and realized he didn't really have much left. "Damn..."

As he gathered clothes for laundry to do, Kaoru heard his phone and partly panicked. He hoped he logged out from work. As h checked the computer, sure enough, he was logged out. But, no one ever calls here... he thought. Picking up the phone, he asked "Dae-hyun?". There really wasn't anyone else that would bother to call him, unless it was a customer. "Can you come over...? If you don't mind... Nothing really to do, you know...?" He emailed the woman who ran the drycleaners. Thankfully the phone was chordless so with the gathered clothes in a bag, he set it out by his door to be picked up later.

"Oh, and... My arm's feeling better. Really sore, but I can move it," Kaoru added, heading back to his room. Taking the key to his new door, he locked it and hid the key in his desk drawer, but left the door to his room open for now. He wondered to himself if he could pull off what he invented at that second in his head. Walking towards his couch, he tripped over his feet, landng in the floor with buttons mashing on the phone, making an annoying high-pitched sound. Scrambling to pick it up, with a series of colourful words, he accidentally hung up the receiver. "Hello...?" he called before the dial tone voice of a woman came on, telling him to hang up and try again. "Ugh, dammit..." he grumbled, picking himself up as he went to his room to put the phone on his desk. He sighed and walked to his front door, unlocking it and leaving it a crack open. He suddenly felt vulnurable. He looked around and saw the windows were open and quickly bolted to shut them all. He sighed, throwing himself on the couch. He covered his eyes with his arm as he tried to relax.

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Just as he was about to give up and head back to work, Dae-hyun was surprised to hear his own name. "Kaoru? Yeah, it's me. How are you doing?" As lame as it sounded, Dae-hun really couldn't think of what to say. He hadn't planned anything out before he'd called, and now he was feeling kind of foolish. His heart sank when he heard Koaru's request for him to visit. "I'm sorry Kaoru, but I'm at work right now. I'm the manager, so I can't just leave, especially since I already took off two days this month because of the move. If you want, I can come over after work? The store closes at eight, so I should be home by nine, if that's fine with you. We could order some Chinese food or something, and watch TV or just chat. Whatever is cool with me." Hoping that Kaoru wouldn't feel like he was blowing him off, Dae-hyun tried his best to make it up to him.

Relieved to hear that Kaoru was feeling better, Dae-hyun smiled a bit. "That's great! I was kind of worried about it, since it looked so bad, but...I guess it'll be fine, huh? If you need me to help with something while it's still healing, just let me know. Wouldn't want you to hurt yourself again trying to do something simple." Nodding to a regular customer who passed by, Dae-hyun wished that he hadn't been on the phone. It was better for business to chat with people who actually stopped by. Just as he was about to say something more, Dae-hyun heard the receiver click and paused for a moment. "Hello? Kaoru?" he said, although there was no answer. Worrying a bit, he redialed the number, hoping that Kaoru's phone battery had just died or something simple like that. If it was something worse, Dae-hyun wanted to head back home to check, but there was no way he would be able to leave work even if Kaoru didn't pick up. It made him feel horrible, but there was nothing he could do when his job was on the line.

((Its okay =^^= So long as it's not a one liner it's good~ xP ))

Kaoru sat quietly on the couch until he heard the phone ring. Startled by it, he yelped before rolling off, onto the floor. Landing on his arms as a natural reaction, he screeched in unbearable pain, curling up as he held his bandaged arm. "Son of a...! God... Mother! Argh!" Kaoru scrambled to his feet before sprinting to the phone, being careful with his arm. With his voice cracking, he answered, "Hello?" Clearing his throat he tried to relax. "Sorry, I fell... Twice.. I'm okay, though." He said quietly, partly embarrassed. "And... Chinese... Sounds good." Kaoru added, pouting to himself that Dae-hyun couldn't come over yet, but it's better late than never. "I guess... I'll see you later, then...?" he half-asked.

Kaoru sighed to himself, holding the phone with his shoulder, touching a new forming bruise on his already hurt arm. He hissed in pain from the contact. "I gotta go-" the man said quickly, hanging up the phone almost desperately. Throwing the phone on the ground, the batteries popped out. Taking a deep breath, he bottled up the frustration inside. It'd be put to good use later. After an hour or so, he checked outside to see his laundry in a clean box. The woman even folded everything for him. Leaving the box out and placing in emergency paper money he kept for payment, Kaoru put away his clothes and picked out a tanktop to put on. He took a deep breath and relaxed back on the couch until it was time to pop the batteries back in and get back to work.

It felt like ages on the phone; it ws a very slow day and his butterflies weren't in the room anymore to keep him company. With several more hours going by on work, eight finally came and Kaoru quickly logged out, not wanting to get a call at the last minute. He peeked outside and at a lucky moment, he saw a huge yellow and black butterfly land by his window. His heart stopped and he quickly grabbed a big enough jar. He saw them a lot but he had damaged their wings before. Rushing outside, he waited patiently for the insect to be lured into the jar. He waited but became irritated by the fact it didn't move at all. He quickly slamm the jar over the butterfly, lid side down, and placed his hand over the opening to keep it inside. Sealing the jar, he rushed inside. "Tiger Swallowtail...!" he said excitedly. He kept it in his room, sitting as his desk to marvel at the large creature. Now he had the perfect bait...

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

As the hours of the day crawled by, Dae-hyun managed to keep himself busy with folding clothes, handling the phone calls, the occasional complaint from a customer, and all the other little things he had gotten used to around the store. When the day was finally over, Dae hyun grabbed his things and waited for the last employee to leave before locking up the shop and hopping into his car. Pulling out his phone for a second, he sent a text to Kaoru letting him know that he was leaving work and on his way home. He still planned on stopping off at his own place and making sure everything was fine, but after that he knew to go straight to Kaoru. No matter what kind of plans they made, Dae hyun always felt on edge interacting with Koaru. The man seemed like a bit of a loose cannon.

During the drive home Dae hyun listened to whatever CD was in the player. It wasn't one he really remembered having, but he knew most of the songs on it. It was a mixed tape, so he assumed one of his friends had lent it to him a while ago and he'd never returned it. As he rounded a sharp corner, Dae hyun hear something roll across the floor next to him. At the next red light, he reached over onto the passenger's side floor and grabbed something silver he saw flash in the light of a streetlamp. Sitting back up with a sigh, he realized it was a tube of lipstick, and when he opened it, he recognized the charcoal colour and bitter smell right away. Shaking his head, he stuffed it into one of his pockets and decided to return it at the next concert.

When he finally pulled into his own driveway, Dae hyun tilted his head back for a few seconds and just listened to the sweet silence of crickets and nothing else around him. Finally taking off his seatbelt, he got out and locked it up before heading into his house. Flicking on the lights and looking around briefly, nothing seemed to have moved since the last time he'd been there, although the white flower bud on the table had begun to open up just a tiny bit. Turning it around so he could see the small opening beginning to form, Dae hyun said, "You're really going to tease me with this as long as you possibly can, aren't you?" wondering why Kaoru had given him the closed bud in the first place. Throwing a few of his things down on the coach, Dae hyun patted himself to make sure he had his wallet, keys, and phone before heading out again.

Locking the front door behind him, he made his way across the street and knocked on the door, waiting for Kaoru to let him in. Pulling out his phone again, he noticed he had a new voice mail he hadn't noticed before, and dialed it quickly. Listening to the beginning of the message, he knew he wouldn't want to hear the rest. Hanging up before it could finish, he knew he would listen to the whole thing once he was back in his own home, but for the time being he didn't feel like having to deal with it. It always seemed like there was one drama or another popping up in his life, even though he'd been trying to live a little more normally lately. Remembering who he had come to see, Dae hyun sighed and shook his head, realizing that he was just a magnet for freaks, no matter where he went or who he pretended to be.

((I was able to get past writer's block and school work to post~ Kyaa~))

Kaoru laid on his couch, admiring one of the smaller butterflies in a jar he'd caught upon meeting Dae-hyun. It was such a small thing, but he smiled. It was his connection to the world, and now his connection to a chance at love; or at least his version of it. He sat up, setting the jar on the table before heading into his tiny, dark room. There was barely enough space to fit the bed, it was so tight, but it was made for just one small person anyway. He smirked and looked around his room, trying to look for any useful things. Underneath the bed he found a neckerchief and some bandannas he never used. How perfect. He decided to tie them together before tying them at the corners of the bed. He then picked up the jar with the large butterfly inside. It hypnotized him; the bold colours and frantic fluttering.

As Kaoru stared at the insect, he played his dream over and over in his head, excitement rising up in his chest. How he loved the new neighbour so much. His heart would beat quickly in the slightest interaction. How fast would be during this time around? Kaoru imagined everything and placed his hand over his heart to calm it down. So many things and so little hours. How would his hair feel? How soft are those lips? The obsessed man let his fingers twitch in excitement. A shuddered breath escaped him. How badly he wanted to touch him, hold him, tell him a hundred times and more that he loved him. He set the jar on his desk, a little away, and made sure the door was locked, but not shut.

Kaoru, anticipating Dae-hyun's arrival, jumped at the sound of the door knocking. He grinned brightly as he scurried off to the front door. He stopped for a moment, eyeing the door handle before gripping it tightly and opening it, smiling happily at Dae-hyun. "Hi~" He said quickly, moving out of the way for Dae-hyun to come in. His fingers gently tapped at his bottom lip as he thought to himself. He wondered if his little procedure to go now, or if he should wait. Deciding quickly, he thought to wait for a while. "How was your job…?" He asked, genuinely curious.

+Where's the door again...?+

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

When the door opened, Dae hyun gave an obligatory smile and stepped inside, glad to see that Kaoru was happy to have him. "Hey, sorry I couldn't come earlier. Work's been a little busier than usual because we lost one of our employees, but other than that it's fine." As they stood there together near the door, Dae hyun continued to talk about work, mostly the customers and what kinds of annoying things seemed to happen on a daily basis. "Ah, sorry, I'm blathering," he said finally, realizing he had been dominating the conversation up to that point. "You had work today too, right? How was that? It must be nice working at home, but you said you just work with the customers, right? They always seem to be the most annoying part of any business, even though their our only source of income."

As the two of them talked, Dae hyun glanced around the room a little, noticing that it was exactly the same as the last time he'd been there. "How's your arm now?" he asked with a slightly more serious tone, hoping that it was healing up. Kaoru didn't seem to be the type who would go to the hospital of his own volition, even if something got really bad and obviously needed treatment. Of course, Dae hyun didn't want to force him to either, so he was trying to keep an eye on it as well. "You know, we had a customer come in the other day who had a lot of the same piercings you do. But he was a lot taller and kind of ugly, so it just made me think of how some people can pull off a lot of piercings well and some just look terrible." Hoping that Koaru understood it was a complement, Dae hyun finally got off the topic of work when his stomach rumbled.

"Hey, you want to order some Chinese food? I haven't had dinner yet." Pulling out his phone, Dae hyun checked to make sure he had the number of a nearby place before asking, "What do you want to order? I'm probably getting some vegetables and fried rice or something...you know, this place has great vegetable stir fry, you should try it some time if you like veggies." Although he wasn't a vegetarian, Dae hyun preferred vegetables over meat, so people often got the idea that he was a vegetarian. "Are you a vegetarian? Just wondering because I noticed there are a lot of people in our fashion group who are vegetarians. It's weird, normal people think we're scary or barbaric because of how we dress, but some of the people I know are the most tender nature-lovers you could ever imagine."
