Mori watched the conversation between the captain and Yata in vague amusement. Her bedroom had suddenly became a local gathering place, it seemed. When the crying started, she immediately sat up, trying to find energy. Lucky for her, Jon immediately stepped up to quiet the twin in his arms, the one she suspected as being the one who was genuinely upset, while the other was crying because her sister was crying.
She had only just began to soothingly hum and rock Kalina gently when Yata offered to take her. Meeting his eyes, she hoped he saw that she was grateful for him helping. Carefully transferring her eldest daughter into the troll’s care, she laid back down again, struggling to watch those who held her children. It was a losing fight, as she was soon half-asleep already as her body finally began to unwind from the crazy and unexpected day.
Once she shifted into somebody else’s arms besides her mother’s, Kalina’s whimpers became genuine cries. She didn’t know this strange person, and she wasn’t sure that she wanted to. However, when she finally looked up at him, she found herself curious. Her wails tapered off, and she blinked tears out of her eyes to look at the person who held her now. While her lower lip was still trembling, showing more tears weren’t far off at the wrong signal, she was calmer, and quiet again.
Dae was not in the mood to be calmed, not even by her father. There were still strange people around, and she just wasn’t comfortable with so many people around. Perhaps she sensed that she was the center of attention alongside her sister. At any rate, her loud wails only quieted down to whimpers, and tears continued to fall. Her father’s voice was reassuring, but she just wanted to be left alone with her parents and sister.

"Very funny, Jon... that was so funny, I might just forget to give you those rare congratulatory cigars I picked up from the Northlands, or that bottle of dwarven wine I absconded with..."
Dwarven wine was, of course, one of the rarest things in the world... for despite the fact that the Dwarven people loved their alchohol, the almost always were making Ale's and Brews. Only once in a lifetime did you ever come across a Dwarf who liked wine, let alone made it. Despite being made by rough hands, the stuff was sinfully good.
Now that the little one was getting calm, Yata had to keep her such, a task easier said than done. Slowing down his pace just a notch, and making sure Kalina was more than comfortable, Yata continued projecting his warm aura gently about him, an aura he hoped would seem familiar, considering all the times the troll had interfeared with Mori's psyche... still, it was an aura very similar to Mori's and even Jon's, a byproduct of being so close... an object of Yata's own belief that the Dawn, and especialy most of the people in this room, were his family. Still, even if she didn't find it familiar, hopefully she would at least find it comforting, and hopefully still, she would find it familiar with time. The troll smiled gently at the beautiful little girl in his arms, a little afraid to show his sharks grin, lest it upset her again. "See there little one? Everything is fine..."
He was doing well so far, and hopefully he still had enough paternity in him to keep it up. He looked to the Captain for a moment, a signal that he was going to speak to her telepathically.
"Before my berating, I'd like to say that this technically does count as "Once in a while..." also before my berating, I would like to bribe you with a rare little commodity... a peace offering if you will... and on that note, I brought you something shiiiiiiny..."
He stopped cooing at the baby for a moment to give the Catain a quick sly smile.
"I do miss you, Neciel... don't think this troll is so heartless as to leave ungratefully..."
There was a small sad tinge in his nonexistant eye. Turning to Neciel once more, he spoke without words to her in a very sad sort of turn.
"There is something... troubling, I must discuss with you my Captain... a conversation best left to deaf walls."
There wasn't much more of him left to say, at least not now, not in this most joyous of ocassions. Instead, he cleared his mind, focusing on getting Kalina calm and restful. Making little soft twinkes appear above his own head, he wondered how quick she would notice them, and if they would entice her calm if any at all.

Jon stood still holding the child close now that she had calmed slightly. He moved to the captain, "Here I think you two need to get to know each other." He gently placed the child in the captain's arms and took a couple of steps back not sure how the child would. He wasn't certain that handing off the child was the best idea but he had a feeling that Dae needed to become familiar with the captain at least.

Taking the child gently, the captains arms form into a cradle around her. A sincere smile lights the woman's features as she gently rocks the baby in her arms. "Hi there." her voice was oddly gentle, more so than one would have expected from her. It was plain to see the captain had a soft spot for children, even those that were of her favorite punching bag. This child looked a lot like she imagined Mori had, minus the skin tone. "You know, Jon." the captain speaks, her voice remaining gentle and layered with calm. "I think these kids are too cute to be yours." her smile widens slightly, becoming teasing.

Half asleep she may have been, but Mori couldn’t really stand back and let the captain tease Jon too much. Opening one of her eyes, she gave her a rather dry look. “I would love to find out then where Kalina’s head of blonde hair came from then, since the Xerians all have dark hair and my mother was a redhead.” A yawn kept her from saying anything else, and she struggled to keep her eyes open. It was a fight she wasn’t destined to win, and she finally let her eyes close to rest. Just for a little while… she told herself, but soon she was dead asleep, her exhausted body finally getting a chance to recoup from what was a very trying day.
Kalina’s head moved a little as she tried to look at the odd things that now hovered over the stranger’s head. She couldn’t tell what they were, and was curious to discover. Also, the stranger was nothing like her parents. He was so different to look at, though she didn’t know why. He felt the same, in an untouchable way that she didn’t understand fully but trusted. Cooing, she tried to move her arms to reach up and touch his nose. It was so big, it was too tempting.
Dae’s whimpers escalated in volume as she found herself changing from her father’s hold to one of the strangers. She struggled a little in her blanket, unhappy with the change in her surroundings. However, the person spoke to her in a calm voice, and while she wasn’t her mother, something about her was just nurturing enough that she quieted down to whimpers. She yawned without meaning too, a hiccup in her whimpers, and it became clear that it was partially exhaustion that was making her colicky.

Jon laughed only slightly at his wife's defense of him in that instant. Then watched as the woman finally surrendered and went into a deep slumber. "Poor thing." He made sure that Dae was okay but after noting the return to her calmish whimper Jon attended to his wife. He pulled the covers around her to ensure that she would be nice and comfortable while she rested. He would let her have the whole bed while she recovered, he could pitch a hammock in a corner and tend to her when she needed or to the children when they needed. "You know I think that Dae likes you captain." He sat back in the bedside chair with a nice little smirk. This was it, his family. Three ladies to take care of, it seemed that he was destined to be out voted in all future events. Secretly he thanked what gods there were for the children not being identical, that could have been problematic. His eyes drifted to Kalina watching as she started to reach for the troll's nose. He had to admit that he couldn't blame the girl, the troll had fascinated Jon as well when they had first met, though sense then it seemed the two were more likely to butt heads than to have tea together thanks to Jon's relationship with Mori. It was like the troll was a father-in-law rather than a family friend. Jon didn't mind though. In fact the little quarrels had come to rather entertain the man over time, even the captains sharp tongued comments may Jon smile from time to time.

The captain glanced up and grinned at Mori as she defended her husband. "Be that as it may, my dear, but my twin brother ended up with blue hair. My mother had white, and my father was a redhead." she points out, accepting the comment in stride. She knew that the kids were indeed Jon's, but she couldn't help taking shots at him every now and then. She wasn't outright insulting him anymore, which should be accepted as great progress. The captain's grin fades to a gentle smile as the girl drifts off to sleep, rightfully exhausted. Her attention turns to Jon, and she raises an eyebrow at him. "Of course she likes me. Why wouldn't she?" she responds, her voice still soft. She looks down to the little girl in her arms, noting the yawn. "Yes yes, you go ahead and take a nap. It has been a very eventful night."

Nemo watched the woman and the child from his perch leaning against the doorway. It was kinda cute really. Did he just think that? No of course he didn't. The idea of the bandit liking the sight made him chuckle. He was of course in deep narcissistic denial by this point. Though the children were quite charming in their own right. The had already ensnared the attention of the two most powerful beings Nemo had ever seen. Out of curiosity the bandit tried to glean the thoughts of the children finding mostly emotions and moods rather than actual thoughts. This made sense though considering that the newborns could not speak yet. Though it was quite easy o note the child's reason for discomfort. "Well now if you'll excuse me my dear I believe I am one of the reasons that the child is upset." With that he turned and started down the stairs his footsteps rarely audible. Besides the childs apparent dislike for strangers nemo was getting a little tired of enjoying the sight, what was he another hen pecked man chained to his woman or a free spirit that ran where the wind beckoned. Well neither actually but he did have enough sense to know better than to think too much of Neciel and children.
Jon watched the bandit with a quirked brow in slight confusion. "Okay?" He shrugged slightly his eyes wandering back to the captain noting for the first time the new object on her wrist. Could that be? No, Nemo would never do such a thing in fact Jon was almost certain of that fact. He had bet money on it once. Crap what if it was, then that meant he owed Salive a back rub and a goat. Why had that freak wanted a goat anyway was a mystery to the entire dessert. "My captain I never realized red was your color." He made the remark in hope to get some sort of answer from the woman while she cradled his child.

Out of no where, the captain glanced up. She glanced off into the distance, an odd feeling prickling at the back of her neck. She knew this feeling, though it hadn't come to notice in a few years. Her eyes darkened slightly, though she kept her aura calm and pastel in color. Neciel glanced over at the bandit, her expression remaining calm and rather blank. "Very well. I believe I shall take my leave quite soon as well. Something has.... come up." she watched as he left, turning her attention back to Jon as he spoke up. She blinked, a tad put off by his question, before she remembered the bracelet. Taking a glance at it, she realizes that the symbol probably means more to Jon than she had yet to realize. She raises an eyebrow at him, intending to get information from him in turn. "My office is red." she points out simply.

Well if she was going to play that game then Jon would have to play a little himself, "Oh indeed it is." He turned back to his sleeping wife watching her with soft eyes. He new what that little trinket was he was certain of it and if that feline clasp were any indicator he knew full well who had given it to her. He had skipped that part with Mori preferring not to go through that whole ritual when it wasn't even his tribe. Did he even have a tribe? He would have to ask Alex later. Either way performing such a task was not something Jon had ever pictured his bandit brother ever taking such upon himself. Well crazier things had happened since Jon had met the striders.

The captain pursed her lips, thinking about what to say next. He wasn't speaking up, and so she would simply force the information out of him if her roundabout way didn't work out. "It isn't like you to be concerned with my choice of jewelry, Jon. Do you not like it?" she asks, quirking an eyebrow at him. Now, not many people who had insulted the captain's choice in accessories was around much longer, but that wasn't what she was getting at here. The prickling at her neck was becoming stronger, and her mouth twitched down at one corner. She moved towards Jon, placing the man's sleeping child in his arms. "I believe it is my time to go. I'll be back soon enough, and we can talk about jewelry and red things to your heart's content. But for now, something calls my rather immediate attention..." she forces a small smile, waving lightly at the sleeping baby. Turning to the door, she pauses only long enough to speak over her shoulder. "Do stop by once in a while, Yata." she speaks calmly before slipping out the door and down the stairs to see if the bandit had waited or if she'd journey into her coming encounter blind.

Yata Had to stifle a laugh as the little one reached up for his nose. He was only happy to let Kalina catch a feel if it would make her giggle. His child too had also been fascinated with his nose... then again very few outside the Trollkin kind weren't. He raised a brow as Jon and the Captain had a small little back and forth... something not uncommon between them, but on this occasion, with a strange hint that Yata quickly picked up. Out of nowhere, the Captain announced her leave. Odd. Very Odd. She had sensed something, he could tell. He frowned a little, looking out at the door.
"Captain?" He managed to say before she had stepped out. Yata hid his disappointment well, turning back to entertain the little girl in his arms. It looked like there would be no time for him this time around. It subtracted him one berating, hopefully, but it also put off his explanation, and the information he wanted to relay onto Neciel. He sighed. Yata supposed there would be another occasion... hey, perhaps by then Yata might have found the cure.
"You really must be more attentive, Jon." Yata said, teasing. "It'll grant you a bit less buck from our lovely Captain."

Alex giggled lightly at the small exchange choosing not to say much save for, "Well I need to go to so I can find a camp sight. I'll be back though no worries." With those few words she pranced off not even giving he half brother the chance to respond. She liked camping it was a fact, she preferred it over staying in a house any day. She just felt more at home. Her and her father had never owned a home, she had spent her entire life traveling from place to place so to her a tent was a home, and a tree stump was a proper seat, and strange old men wandering through the forest were to be treated as demons until proven otherwise, and young men wandering the forest were to be avoided at all cost. Why had her father told her that. Weren't men the least of her worries in a forest filled with bears and wolves and snakes. She just guessed that she would never quite understand. She pranced her way right out the door with her pack on her back ignoring the bandit outside completely as he clutched his chest, bah she had a forest to explore.
Jon knew that this wasn't the end of his and the captain's conversation. In fact he was fairly certain that he should have kept his mouth shut. This was going to be interesting to explain. "No I believe that my attentiveness is what just caused me trouble." He shrugged lightly not caring to disturb little Dae who seemed to be trying to rest peacefully at the moment. "Besides I hate to admit but I've actually come to enjoy those little quips of ours. I think I would be in more trouble if she hadn't said anything at all and just glared." His eyes shifted to see the playful Kalina, "Besides I think that you are in far more trouble than I at this moment." He stood carefully, "Well if we are going to bicker lets at least do it where Mori can rest. Come on, I'd like to show you the nursery, you are their godfather after all." Jon started moving as if the last words he had spoken were nothing. He and Mori had agreed much earlier that if there were any two people in the world they could trust to take care of their children if something happened, it was Yata and the Captain. Jon and Nemo might have been close but Nemo was not the best example and seemed to enjoy travel, not to mention that something was far more likely to happen to Nemo before anything happened to Jon and Mori's family seemed to be full of insane demons, and yes that included Puck. So the choice came down to the two people you seemed to care enough and good enough for the task.
Nemo stood leaning against the door post outside slightly rubbing the center of his chest, damn thing was hurting again. He had anticipated Neciel's soon return to him but had thought about just going to the inn and seeing if she would come to him. What an entertaining thought that was. It was when she appeared that he smiled and acted as if he had been wiping something from his shirt rather than instinctually rubbing his chest, "My presence was making the child nervous. I'm afraid that she didn't take to me quite as fondly as she did to you." He shrugged. "She'll learn in time of course." That was when he caught her eyes and quirked a brow slightly. "Is something the matter my dear?" Of course there was he knew full well something was wrong or just plain distracting her at this point by the look in her eyes.

"I'll be back for you...." she whispers, expecting Yata to hear her. How he would, she had no idea, but that did not change her expectations. Slipping down the steps quietly, she seems rather focused on something. Glancing up, she raises an eyebrow at him. "It's because there's an odd tinge in your aura." she states, pursing her lips. She was wondering what was up, but that presence... Shaking her head, she continues on towards him and through the door. "There's someone in my Port. Someone very unwelcome." she explains, eyes narrowing slightly as she thinks about it. "It seems you'll finally get to see me do some real work. If you tag along, of course." she cast him a short look, planning to find out what it was that was bothering him after the matter of the intruder was settled.

An odd tinge in his aura, now why would that be there? "You know my dear I really like in when you talk possessively." He straightened up from his post, "To the port it is, since you do so enjoy doing work." Ignoring the fact that in his frequent visits he had never actually seen her do any work, besides the occasional bossing around of underlings. So his comment did bear a slight tinge of sarcasm, but not quite enough so offend as that trade mark grin of his once again returned. "I must ask though, in a land of mercenaries, bandits, and assassins, who is ever unwelcome? I'm surprised you don't have pirates using your land for a safe haven, though you might considering that I rarely spend time among the port and its denizens." Seriously who was not welcomed by the dawn, Nemo was quite perplexed.
