"I'm sorry," Sera said sadly. "But I couldn't lie. I do need a job, but I'd hoped I'd be able to find one I liked. If you don't think there's one here for me...I should probably get going..." She sighed, wishing bad things didnt' happen to unemployed girls.

"I didn't say there wasn't one here, I just want to be more important then it is." then much softer. "to some one..."

Quote: "I can make deals," he said solomly. "Then how about this one: If you hire me, I'll put you before the job. If I don't, you can fire me whenever. And if it helps, I'd even be willing to tell you why I need the job." Sera sat down in a chair next to Teona and nodded, "What do you think?"

"Why do you need the job?" he asked, studying her. "And don't try to lie to me."

"If I didn't lie to you before, why would I lie to you now?" She sighed, "I need the job to stay in this country. I got here illegally...and if I have a job, then I can hide easier in the crowds and still have money to pay the bills I'll have."

"If you'd stay with me always then I'd keep you safe. No one would take you away unless you let them. If you chose me over the job."

Sera was more than a little confused now, "How can you protect me? I should be the one protecting you..."

"Of course you would be." Sera said. "Someone has to show you what it's like to be protected...everyone needs to feel that..."

A footman comes in and stops dead, his eyes widened.
Teoni slipped off his chair and stood before her.
"Master Teoni..." the footman gasped.
"This woman is going to be my new maid," the child informed the man in a voice made of ice.
"But Miaso is you're attendant....." the footman said, almost pleading.
"Miaso may work elsewhere in the house once she trains her. Or she may be let go."
"But master Teoni...."
"Tell the head butler what has happened, now."
"Y....yes sir!" the footman beat as hasty retreat as what remained of his dignity would allow.
Teoni looked back at her and took her hand. "Do you want to see my room now?"

"Sure Teoni. You lead the way." Sera was a little startled. Someone just lost their job thanks to her...

He nods and leads her up the main stairs now, through large elaborate halls past fine rooms. Everything is large and expensive looking. He stops in front of one door, held all the way off on it's own. Music is coming from within it, "Stranger then you drempt it" from Phantom of the opera. Teoni gives another one of his hesitant smiles and leads her in. The room is huge, as is expected, but thats about the only thing she could have predicted. Against the far wall, nearly dominating the room is a HUGE bed, the wood so dark its nearly black with white sheets and a black coverlet and a white gauze canopy. One of the side walls is painted sky blue thought almost cant see it because of the HUGE oil painting hung on the wall, it reaches nearly from floor to ceiling of the tall room, and nearly end to end of the wall. its a painting of a gorgeous woman with wings dressed in a gauzy almost see through white slip of a dress that wraps around her. from her back come gorgeous luminescent white wings spread, her eyes cast towards the sky, one arm raised upwards, the other arm down, holding a piece of her dress, the bottom of the picture is lost because a table is against it. The table is filled with white votive candles like a shrine and a small gold box that the candles are around.
On the other side wall is a completely different scene. The wall is blood red, but again, almost impossible to see for it bears its own oil painting, this one longer then tall. The painting is a violent scene in mostly black and reds of a horned demon with a long barbed tail ascending out of a flaming fissure in the ground to a scorched fire pocked landscape. The figure has long black wings that are claw tipped, one of them is ripped, and the beast has a girl in his claws and blood on its mouth, dripping gore. Beneath that painting is a backwood table with black and red candles of all shapes and sizes, like the white ones, all lit. theres a black hardwood laqured box almost lost amid the candles, not prized as on the other, this one is nearly buried.
There are NO windows in the room, no vents for ac or heat that she can find. the wall behind the bed is a dull gray as is the wall that the door is set in. Furniture is lined against the wall that the door is set against. like th bed the furniture is dark polished wood, but its covered in white and pearl cloths on which his various knickknacks are. on one end table by the bed is the CD player playing The Phantom cd though for some reason., she'll discover it dosen't get much further then "stranger then you drempt it" before coming back to the beginning. Not a child's room at all. Theres a door if she looks really closely set into the wall beside the angel painting. Really really hard to see it unless you know what to look for though
