As Rini walked along the street, looking for a place to curl up for the night, a beggar stopped her.

"Please mam'," he said, "if you have anything to spare- my wife passed on and I need to feed my little boy."

Rini, felt guilty. Remembering how she was forced to live before she discovered her powers, she gave the man what little money she had left.

"May the gods bless you," he wispered as he hobbled away.


Rini walked on, till she came to her old spot. She telepathically called to her little dog, Baka. She was starting to get cold, and she needed a good nights sleep. She had a strange feeling something big was happening tomorow.

Rini is woken by Baka. So much for a good nights sleep.

"There you are boy! - whats wrong?!"

Baka lets her into his mind. Aparently, theres somone strange nearby.

Rini sits up and looks around. She is shocked to see that someone got so close to her without her noticing.

"I need to be more careful she thought...but I can't judge them yet, they may be perfectly normal."

Rini scooped up Baka, just to be safe.

"I'm Rini. And you are?"

"This is my little friend, Baka.
I'm guessing you're new here - France, I mean.
You must be hungry. Right?"

"Well then, I guess we should go on over to the cafe, its open pretty late. We can eat, and maybe I can teach you a thing or two about the city"

Then Rini remembered she had given her last money to the beggar...
"Great, she thought to herself. Am I really going to have to resort to pickpocketing again...just this once...not a big deal..."

"Um, I'll meet you at the cafe in a few minutes, its right around the corner. I just need to, um, grab my money"

Rini is startled for a moment. She realized she underestimated the girl. First she thought the girl was just another newcomer she would have to look after, but now...perhaps an ally.

"Nice move, thats typically the fist skill newcomers end up using. The cafe is just around the corner."

Rini jumped up and started walking.

"In that case, the guy deserved to be robbed. Any man carying that much money with him is a fool. Men always feel the need to show off."

Rini leads them to the cafe and they take a seat.

The waitress comes over, angry to be woken from her nap. Rini orders large meals for both of them.

"There are a few things you need to know about this city.."

"First, you need to know about Delacroix. Hes the richest man in town, with enough power to influence anything. Even I dont know much about him, nobody really does. He doesnt make it out much, he just sends messengers if theres anything really inportant. But If you get invited to one of his rare parties, my only advise is to watch out. I've heard from many people his skills with the sword are legendary, and he can be crewel in a fight. Of course Ive also hear about his good side, but still, the man is very mysterious.

Another thing, about the money you took. You need to give 1k of it away. Karma is a strong thing in this city. People will remember what you do. I've learned form experience that if you help someone in need out, they'll remember when you're the one needing help.


Most of all, remember that although the city is beautiful and filled with light, there are secrets. Ones that people will kill to keep hiden. Be careful who you mess with. "
