((Applying for Johan's Journal...))

Johan was wandering about, alone, when he was drawn to a beautiful music. An extraordinary wind chime was hanging in a tree in a park he frequented. The music eminating from it was enchanting. He found himself swirling around the chime, changing the pattern and tone of the notes. He was thoroughly enjoying himself when he noticed a girl nearby. He turned and saw that she too was a chime spirit, though a more permenant one.

Hello, he said, trying to draw her out. I am Johan. And you are?

Anna, she replied to him. My name is Anna. She looked very nervous.

You are a chime spirit, yes? Johan asked, trying to get her to loosen up a bit.

Yes, Anna replied. She still looked uneasy, but Johan was patient. I made that chime, she said and blushed.

It is beautiful, Johan replied. Then he had a brilliant idea. Do you mind if I stay with it, and with you?

This time Anna blushed even more brightly. Of course!

Johan was relieved. He was tired of wandering alone and he knew she would be much better company than the winds.

((May I request a journal for my solrana?))

Although quite familiar with the practice of giving gifts for birthdays, the dragon had gone through great lengths to assure her housemate, Flarie, that there was nothing she desired... Nothing that she truly needed in order to make her birthday complete. Afterall, they'd already recieved such kind gifts from their children for Mother's Day... Why would she need more presents?

This, of course, did not keep the half-elf from making a purchase... A purchase that the dragon was now holding up to the light, eyes wide as dancing colors were cast on the wall. Flarie knew her weakness and, with that knowledge, she had purchased something that the dragon couldn't say 'no' to; a beautiful wind chime that looked like a cresent moon balancing on its side with five crystal pipes dangling from it. There was something about it that she couldn't quite put her finger on... Something that craved her attention, almost as if the chime itself were willing her to keep it somewhere near.

She had questioned Flarie about it but the elf hadn't mentioned anything out of the ordinary so, shrugging it off, she took it out to her garden, hanging it in the gazebo where the sound of the chime could echo for all to hear. Afterall, it was such a lovely sound...

((Applying for a journal for Kosuke...))

I felt like I was betraying Makani by sending home a lovely sundial that I had bought. I couldn't figure out why, but I instructed the delivery men to place it in my garden, close to the wind chime. I had an awful time telling time, yet the feeling of betrayal never left me. I couldn't forget about Makani either, and I always wonder how he's doing and if the house has burned down. I suppose I'll just have to find out when I get back.

And for curiosity's sake since I make references to their looking similar ~ Pictures of Mystic: lineart and a colored headshot ))

Quote:
It was a gift. Mystic eyed the rectangular shaped box warily. It was wrapped neatly with glossy black paper and tied shut with an equally neat red bow. He typically appreciated gifts, but that was due to the fact that for the most part the only gifts he had ever recieved were from his guardian, Reyna. This, however, had come from an unlikely source -- Charles. The pest whom had taken up residence in the basement and stole his blankets on a regular basis.

Okay. Perhaps it wasn't entirely fair of him to consider the medusa a pest. It wasn't as though he were a bug or something equally repulsive. He was just irritating for the most part. Perhaps the gift was a form of apology. His brow furrowed at that thought, not entirely sure if that was really a logical conclusion to come to where the medusa was concerned. Logic and rationality didn't exactly seem to apply to him, but he had seemed rather sincere when he'd handed the box over to him.

With a shrug he decided to go ahead and open it. What was the worst that could happen? Well. Quite a bit, perhaps. He paused for a moment after tugging the ribbon loose before simply tearing into the paper. Curiosity had never been something he easily battled.

Violet eyes blinked in surprise as he stared down at the box. Encased within black velvety material was a wind chime. Gingerly he pulled the metal chimes out of the box. The noise it made was interesting. It was a sharp, brilliant sound, but at the same time delicate. He decided rather quickly that he liked it. The colors definitely appealed to him, as it reminded him of Reyna and that was always a comfort.

He drifted over towards the window that was blacked out and carefully hung it there. Even though he greatly disliked light in general, he was sorely tempted to open the window so that he might see it shine and hear the wind play with it. Even so, it was a lovely gift. Perhaps he had misjudged Charles after all. With a moment of indecision he decided to go ahead and open the window. It was dark outside so he would not have to fret over sunlight. Moonlight, was always soft and hazy and definitely preferred to daylight.

He sat a few feet away on his bed and watched it chime in the slight breeze that flowed in through the window. It was pleasant. He relaxed and settled himself down in bed to read for a time, content and undisturbed. He didn't move until he happened to glance up and notice a strange darkness moving about the metal chimes. His eyes widened in a look of complete, utter shock. It couldn't possibly be another Shadow... could it? No. He would have noticed. He would have felt it.

He stood on human feet and padded cautiously towards the chime before nearly phasing through the wall entirely when he jumped back, startled as the darkness seemed to manifest itself into the form of a small child. A feeling of dread passed through Mystic. It even looked like it could be a Shadow. It clearly lacked a stone but the resemblance was still striking.

'...who are you?' he blurted out as he tried to gather a bit of his composure and clutched at his cloak nervously.

A faint musical laughter filtered across his senses before an equally pleasant sounding voice spoke up. "Razakel. You?"

'Mystic,' the Shadow spoke up as he eyed the other creature. The both of them floated around the other as though sizing each other up. Judging. Calculating. 'If you don't mind my asking, as even I find it to be rather annoying and rude at times, what are you?'

That playful laughter sounded again. It was nearly as lovely as the chimes themselves. "A wind spirit. And since it's only fair: What are you?"

'A Shadow. It's rather complicated to explain, really.' Mystic answered simply as he continued to gaze over at the spirit.

"I think I should like to hear your story, then," Razakel stated, amusement glittering in his eyes. And perhaps maybe, he would stay and listen to more of the strange Shadow's stories.

{[(Journal request for Socrates.)]}

Tanya stepped through the mirror transport at her mother's house. Japi had asked her to take care of the place while she was gone looking for Anna with Nina. Tanya didn't understand what was going on around that house, but she didn't bother to ask. She hummed as she watered the plants in the backyard and listened to the tinkling of the two chimes on the back porch.

She walked to the front of the house to check the mail and spied a very peculiar looking birdbath sitting on the front lawn. It was brown in a wood pattern.

"What the heck? That wasn't there yesterday."

Tanya walked over and took a closer look, but nothing else was peculiar about it. There was no sign, no nothing. It looked as if it had been there forever.

"Oh well. Whatever. Japi can deal with it when she gets back."

~~

The next day, Tanya was sneaking a little something out of Japi's refrigerator when she noticed the weirdest thing. There was a green cat playing inside the birdbath. She ran outside to get a closer look, but by the time she got there, it had vanished.

"That was odd," she mumbled.

She turned around to head back to the house and was greeted by the little green kitten, playing on the front porch. Upon closer investigation, it was no ordinary kitten. The creatrue had two tails and was patterned like a jungle. On it's head sat two little brown "nobs" that looked as though they might grow into horns.

"Well hello there," Tanya greeted the kitten-creature.

The kitten-creature stopped what it was doing to look up at her with big red eyes. "Hi!" it replied.

Tanya was slightly taken aback by this. She talked to animals all the time, but it wasn't like she expected them to talk back. Scrambing for something to say to it, since she had started the conversation she said, "So... what's your name?"

"Don't got one," the kitten-creature replied. "You give me one!"

The kitten-creature's demand startled Tanya, but she decided to comply. "Umm... Socks? No." Tanya shook her head. Just because that was the name of a book with a cat didn't mean it suited this kitten-creature at all. Sock- Soc- Socrates?"

"YAY!" the kitten-creature exclaimed. "Now I'm Socrates!"

"Well Socrates," Tanya replied, scratching her head. "You hungry?"

"YEAH!" Socrates shouted and ran around in circles.

Tanya laughed.
