Sora smiled inwardly. He drew his blade. "The opposite of detah is lfe, right? And life is light." He muttered something inaudible and his blade exploded in light. He then took off his collar with one hand and threw it at the shadow. Where his collar was were now a thin ring of black scars with something dark green and weird on it. The collar closed around the shadow and for the first time it took form. It was a skeleton holding a scythe with a black cloak. "Knew it. Death." But then, for the first time, Sora faltered. He didn't know what to do.

Gasping, Lyu stared in fright as Sora faltered. Thinking quickly, she reached into her pouch and dreww out a smal shining crystal. Calling out, she threw it as hard as she could to Sora. HE would know what to do when he held it.

The representation of Death took a step forward, still restrained by the collar. Sora''s hand snaked out unbelievably quickly and caught the crystal. He immediatly knew what to do with it. He slammed it into a depression in his collar in the exact shape of the crystal--he had felt it only too many times before. Light exploded from the collar and crystal, stunning, hurting and blinding the death shadow. With a quick swipe of his glowing blade he removed the skeleton head. The body and dismembered head exploded in a shockwave of shadows.

Lyu was thrown backward by the shadow, and she fell unconcious as her head smashed against a rock. The gash begab bleeding freely, but she was not awake to notice.

Sora grimaced and swore. The shockwave had passed through him harmlessly. "I should have warned her!" Sora said. Something similar had happened to his his cousin Kamiss. He walked towards Lyu and inspected her wounds, healing them as he found them. With his remaining strength he carried Lyu to his house.

Waking up quickly inside Sora's home, Lyu started to get up. She sank back on the bed as pain rippled through her. "Wh-what happened?"

"You got hit by the shockwave. I should have warned you, but I didn't know it was going to happen." Sora said, getting up as he saw the pain rippling through her features. "Where does it hurt? I thought I healed you!"

Smiling, Lyu sat up again, without any pain. "Just the aches form last night. I fell out of a tree..."

Kamiss resisted the urge to laugh and keep a straight face. "What were you doing in a tree?"

"I was resting, thank you very much." Lyu smiled again, getting up and strecthing. her long green tunic was almost shapeless, the seams sewn together with a myriad of threads. her brown pants were the ssame way.

Following Sora upstairs, Lyu admired the cottage. It was homey, warm. Somewhere one would like to live.
