Tresondros Ecstuffuan Sword of the Stranger is an animated movie that I think might have my favorite sword fighting scenes out of any movie ever. Ive been sharing that movie with most of my friends cause I thought the same about the swordfights. I was so impressed. Couldn't believe that among all your beloved TRASH animes, there was ONE OVA with LEGIT swordfighting sequences.

I probably should have put "and for" after "to" in that last line (so it reads: "Somehow making a roleplay character just to win a roleplay contest (like this one) just seems very wrong to and for me.") I think it would be bad forme to do that because I personally invest in every character I make; that's just who I am, and that's why if I don't bring back Thurgood next year, I'll bring another one of my characters from another continuity that's far more suited for melee combat. If anybody else does it, I don't really give a s**t; just don't expect or pressure me to.

One thing I did not understand was why Thurgood even entered the GTB to begin with. I could understand others from Black Sand but Thurgood's entire suite is banned (guns). Just seemed like a poor choice of judgement to me from a character perspective.

Techpriest Enginseer One thing I did not understand was why Thurgood even entered the GTB to begin with. I could understand others from Black Sand but Thurgood's entire suite is banned (guns). Just seemed like a poor choice of judgement to me from a character perspective. In character, his parents (whose judgement is fairly dubious) entered him in an attempt to toughen him up. Thurgood keeps coming because he's a Determinator and needs to prove he can win (even though if/when he does he won't even accept the prize). Out of character, when Rhoslyn first posted about it, it seemed interesting to me, so I entered.

And pick up some real skills.
This is anime fighting. Being a dedicated martial artist isn't necessary. You just need a useful skill.
Guns aren't skills.

Oh, he will, or rather blast it with two 12-gauge slugs, but he's to willful to walk away and never come back. Can't let everybody know the GTB beat him. It's his biggest weakness, yet paradoxically one of his biggest strengths. Ethanol distillation and large vehicle driving are real skills: Thurgood knows how to do both; they just have nothing to do with combat. Wait... ...why am I trying to justify my character to y'all?

Ok, but this is a fighting tournament not a race where driving stick is an advantage or something.
I wouldn't even bother letting Thurgood into the next GTB unless he brought something more meaningful. Otherwise, he's just a wasted slot in the tournament.

You don't even need to know martial arts to win.
All you gotta do is have some handy equipment and the ability to brawl.
Or you could go the other direction and have him train with monks and learn about inner chi like in that one Quintin Tarantino movie.
