Cold? Kind of.

She ignored the feathers as best she could. "I don't want to think about it." Still holding her eyes closed, not moving much. She stood, knocking her staff to the floor, and taking a step back. "M-maybe I should go. Eliot still doesn't know I volunteered her for a job.."
PostPosted: Sat Jan 28, 2006 7:51 pm

Eliot smiled. "I like you the way you are."

But they she shook her head. "People are silly. And usually stupid. To hate one, and exhault the other simply because of how they where born..." She shook her head again. 'As if one can conrtol such things."

"We had tried to make friends with them once, because we had no reason to fight, but they... they said that we were born to be different. And that was all that mattered to them."

"nonsence."

Malik grinned lightly.

"You're father helped. got most of it set-up, in exchange for a few books of mine."

He sat down as she did, and took a breath, looking at her with a small grin, and taking both her hands.

"Ready as I can be. You've done this sort of thing before...so you're probably more at ease than I am. I'll admit I'm a bit nervous."

Onyx on instinct swiped up the staff the second it clattered to the floor, leaving small marks in it by using his claws to touch it. claws, technically were dead things, so hopefully whatever this staff did to people it wouldn't do to him, and held it out toward her.

"Want me to fly you home? save you some trouble?"

"You two are devious together. But in a charming way." A look down at at their hands a moment she she moved them so they were holding them up, palm to plam and finger tips to fingertips. "I'm just as nervous as you, I've only done this once with my father." It really was a nerve racking experience. After all...communion was a learning experiance between elves, things that were in the dark to both of them before wouldn't be anymore. In essence, it would be like a review of thier personalities through memories and feelings. Almost like a reverie. Piper took a breath, relaxing herself and gave him a smile, leaning forward to give him a gentle reassuring kiss. "Just take a breath, close your eyes...and let go. You have to leg go of everything and let all of your defenses down." Saying so she leaned back some and let her own eyes slide shut, also letting all her defenses down. "You'll know when it happens...you'll feel like you're falling and being caught at all the same time." Here went everything.

He blushed a bit, "Um...thank you."

He looked down at his hands. "Yeah. People are stupid." Little run outside had made him tired, not to mention the first time using his magic sinse he had saved Bode, it made him drowsey, and he wasn't thinking well again.

"So..they fight you besause you are different?"

Aella snatched the staff out of Onyx's claws, fear evident in her eyes. She never wanted anyone to have to touch the staff. It was in her nature to repel it's little spell, but others couldn't. It was a blood thing. She took another step back, the staff held close to her chest. "I uh...I'm sure I coul manage it. I don't want to bother you...."
PostPosted: Sat Jan 28, 2006 8:39 pm

He watched her a few moments, her eyes closed, her breathing. The very nature of this action went against everything a drow would be taught about trusting someone else. but he closed his eyes, tried to even out hsi breathing, and let down teh inner defenses. the walls and barriers and walls upon barriers and shields upon walls, layers and layers. but they came down, never the less.

Onyx only snorted lightly at her snatching the staff, she didn't have to be so quick about it like he was going to break it.

"It's not an issue...I got nothing better to do. or would you prefer I not interfere with your time with the minotaur?"

"As long as it's not bothering you or anyth..." she stopped, and frowned. "What do you mean 'my time with the minotaur'?" Her staff jingled a bit as she relxed herself. No need to be all pent up like she was about to be flailed or something.

Their hands together had the feeling of connecting points, like strings were being attached between their flesh and electricity was being sparked between. Through the bond they had already established, they could feel what a normally communioning couple would not. She could feel him opening himself up and he could feel her do the same. It felt like a building tension yet calming all at the same time. Like being pushed toward a treasure you wanted more than anything and the moment you laid your hands on it...the feeling of the ground being ripped out from under them and falling forward...yet never hitting the ground, being held safely by another. Darkness would reign in their mind's eye for but a moment. To the outside world, the two blinked from sight, cloaked by thier own minds and the act of elven communion.

((Doing four posts of four facets of personality, just follow suit. I'll start after you give an initial reaction. For warned, they'll probably be a bit lengthy.))

It was like strands of web between fingers, and sparks of heat and electricity. without sight, the focus on the inner feelings was higher, and he coudl feel her opening up as he did. it was light being in water, floating and not knowing how to swim, but having someone there to hold him afloat in the water. it was cold, but teh one hoding on was warm enough to fend the cold away.

Onyx snorted lightly..and shook his head lightly.

"Nevermind. I just..nothing. You and he just seemed..closer and you wouldn't want me around."

She got to see the inner workings of him, and him hers. But they wouldn't know what they were showing each other, for that part was up to thier minds and they were merely supposed to watch together, yet seperately. It was a binding feeling now, like someone had wrapped a cord around each of them and was pulling. Yet not threateningly so.

The darkness Malik saw would give away to a forest, light filtering down through the trees, a particualr sense of feeling being filtered through, of comfort, happiness and a tangible feeling to love.

Vision panning upward gave way to a much younger, much smaller Piper sitting on a wooden bridge that spanned space between two parts of her city of birth, Ryliah. She was kicking her feet, her hair long and void of red streaks, humming somethign softly. Almost delicately teh child tucked a few silvery white strands behind one blue tipped ear. Fianna walked up behind her and seemed to ask a question, to which Piper only smiled, giggled, and outstreched her arms for her mother to pick her up and nuzzle at her affectionately.

Things would shift a little...showing her older and sitting on the ground, but the trees were gone, replaced by rocky terrain and an elven city of stone. She was sitting crosslegged on a rock with a mirror. Seemed someone called her name and Kieran walked up behind her, a bowl in hand. Piper seemed ecsatic and promptly turned around, putting her back to Kieran adn holding up the mirror to watch as Kieran went about streaking her hair in bright red.

Another shimmering shift. Back in tress, looking about the age of a fifteen year old human, though in elf ears she was probably twice that. Her hair was longer, down to her hips, still streaked red. Next to her, was Kaden. Though the image of him was a bit blurred as if he wasn't supposed to be there. He looked to be flirting with her, trying for a kiss. To which she would gently push him away with a smile as if teasing him. But the smile she gave Kaden wasn't the smile she usually gave Malik. Though seemed her attetnion was caught by a group of elves who approached the couple seemingly striking a bad cord about Piper...seeing as Kaden promptly seemd to jump to her defense.

Then it seemed...a large chunk of time was missing as she looked much older now. An elf who was just about an adult yet not quite there yet. Dressed in what appeared to be travel clothes, a red bandana around her ears. She looked quite banged up and worse for wear as well. Wind was swirling around her, drawing a smile from her before Serino appeared in front of her. Tenatively she had pet at the Zephyr and he nuzzled her. She seemed to be talking to him and he to her. Reaching into a satchel she carried, she pulled out a feather and tied it into his mane.

Another large span seemed to be missing, and he was given the sight of her the way she was when they met. He was there too, they were talking, teasing, touching. Various little snipits of them together flashed but didn't give him the pleasure of watching, after all he knew all those parts now didn't he? Thus he didn't need to learn those.

All seemed happy and comforting in thier nature. The place where communions usually started.

he watched her relatively happy life, though missing parts. there was almost a surge of anger to the even blurred image of Kaden, but that was all of that. Unfortunatly for Piper...He did not have such a pleasent childhood.

The darkness never gave way truly for her, from teh void to black stone, littered with tapestries to Innoruuk and others of battles long ago. Upon a stone dias, sat a figure in a green robe, the hood pulled up to diusguise the face. Around him were thirteen women of various races.

Young Malik to either the amusement of the robed figure, or for other purpose, was fighting with a wooden sword against another child. Malik did take the victory, but not without bruises. the robed figure stepped down teh dias, each step hsi form changed. Tier'dal to Koada'dal, then to Iksar and Vah, to human and half elf and back to Tier'dal.

Malik looked pleased, and smiled to the robe figure, who looked at him a moment, tilted him to look at the bruises, and then just moved on, leving a frustrated child.

The vision panned, and as it panned it showed an arena, people yelling above it, making wagers. a slightly older malik, dressed in more noble clothing, looking callous as he stood at the robed man's side. this time the robehood was cast back, and it was fairly obvious to be Malik's father. A roar reverberated, Cymarron's voice.

The scene shimmered, and showed Neriak, with a malik still the same age, stumbling through it, asking others questions, and they pushed him away or scoffed at him. until he found another, who looked similar to him in face, though much older. This one heard his story, and nodded to his questions, and took him to a place down in the far back of Neriak, and he was recieved well there, with much happiness. two older brothers, one sister nearer his age but still older, and a female parent. the robed figure was not seen even in a blurred image. Then Cymarron's roar again.

Then it was him as they had met as well, talking, teasing, prodding, luring and being lured. images of the elaborate setups and how he arranged things to appear in the best light...before the illusions and false faces became the real one. the mask melded to the face behind it.

Communions made happiest emotions flit first, and though it may not appear all that fun and happy...she knew that was as happy as Malik's could possibly get. Even in his rather dark childhood, there were points of good...his feeling of accomplishment and feelings of acceptance. Any feeling the communion felt was 'good' was pulled out.

A second feeling replaced the first a sort of upbeat longing feeling that completely drowned out the first. A human would call it hope, this particular feeling. The wants and desires, the wishes and dreams one made and never let go of. A pattern seemed to be followed now, scene shifting to places in her life, showing from past to present as it filtered through all of the particular personality facets.

Again it seemed to be a jump back in time. That little elven girl being shown again, this time she was walking through the tree bound city with a bow in hand and a single arrow in the other. Seemed she was watching others leave the city. All dressed in wanderer's clothing and gear. A certain look of wonder held in triple colored eyes. And she would sneak down from the trees, follow a little ways before she was caught and sent back home. Though she looked determined despite her 'capture'.

Older still once more and again out of trees. But not among rocks, however Kieran was with her. With that same longing wonderment in her eyes she was watching the horses of the Andal plane, Zephyrs, Nightmares, and a mix of the two breeds alike. Then Kieran was gone, she was a tad bit older...and had a rope in hand. The girl would try to rope and ride a nightmare before she would be in a tree to escape the creature, having a smile despite her circumstance. The look of one knowing she would have her day with the creature.

Again that teenage look, and again Kaden who was still out of focus in this one as well. Kaden was holding a flower that was given to her and he seemed to be explaining something to her as he took her hand, obviously he was excited, she was less so. Anyone who knew of surface elven customs, knew he was talking about marriage. She didn't look so happy, her eyes betraying her smile that she was looking for something that wasn't in Kaden. No she was too busy staring at the horizon past the elf.

In those travel clothes of the fall season, looking as if she just conquered the world. She had a map in her hands to the plane she had just come on to apparently. Her mood spoke adventure and her eyes shone of what she was intending to do. Red streaks hair cut to just below her chin, but no bandana, one blue tipped ear poking from in her hair.

Time skipped again and she was Aurahkah's manor. Cymarron was sitting across from her and talking to her friendly like ti seemed. She was fending off his tail in laughs as he was being affectionate to her. A slight shift again and they were sitting across the table from him. He had her bandana on claw and seemed to be talking to her with an understanding look to his eyes to which she smiled and seemed appreciative of.

Then there was Malik again, they were talking and he seemed to agree to something? To what? To various things that then flashed and what not, again the communion not giving up what it already knew.

The joy of the adventure, the wonderment of what was beyond the horizon from Piper was countered by Malik again, almost light to dark.

Little malik, laying on his stomach, feet kicking, looking down into the arena, watching a massive human male and a smaller Iksarian battleing one another. blood spattering, though young Malik looked at teh gruesome sight below with an eager eye. eyes following every motion. Other images of him as a small child, younger then the second set from last time, walking through the slave quarters, talking to them, trying to mimic thier fighting styles in front of thier cages. Most the slaves indulged him only becuase if they did not it ment the breakers, others, older, enjoyed his visits. a way to pass on thier skills or knowledge to someone.

Then the older version, the one that looked more callous...was making deals, offering slaves to sale, making and accepting wagers. before every deal made, every wager, there was a shadowy, wavering image of hsi father int eh green robe, giving small nods or hints of smiles. His need to prove himself to hsi father, to be in control.

Slightly older...and back in Neriak. this time, sitting up in a stand, watching another arena. the old wonder back, watching warriors, assassins, and shadowknights practice and polish thier skills. particularly the shadowknights. then the scene shifted to the same age malik, getitng a sword and a tunic from a muich older showknight.

Then back to teh present, Malik ginving piper her' necklace. and then her standing up to the others that came ro resuce her, and she coudl see this time the look on malik's face, the prideful grin that barely hid how suprised he was.

It was truly a wonder to know how his own self perceived the same feeling but in a totally different way. What was a yearning to know what she didn't was a yearning to know the ways of battle and the need to perfect his ever growing influence on others.

Though the whole mood seemed to shift again. The feeling was hostile in nature, darker than the previous firsts, a simply basic instinct feeling that Malik would recognize all to well, that dark overbearing feeling of hatred.

Things didn't jump back as far this time. A teenager, Kaden ever at her side in those memories, though still blurry,...and they seemed to be yelling at each other. He was making a motion that meant he was referring to the tree top city, and to himself. In the end they turned their backs on each other, Kaden walking off to brood, her left to stand there with arms crossed.

A slight shift, she was the same age but she was tugging at her door. Which seemed to be locked from the outside. Random object thrown, a vase, that shattered against the door. Fianna came in shortly after and it seemed a yelling match ensued between them, one trying to reason with the other and the other having none of it. Piper took off the circlet she was wearing, silver with a crescent moon that had a leaf hanging from the crescent's upper arc, and threw it to the ground, pointing and yelling at it it seemed.

A little older then, standing in the mountains once more. Glaring across the land it seemed with arms crossed. Kieran paced behind her, looking none to happy, occasionally saying something to which she would give short replies and glares at. All the while she was hacking at a piece of wood with her dagger occasionally.

Another span of time, older and in different clothing again and there she was standing in some dark woods at night. It was raining, but she wasn't hiding under the trees or in her cloak, she was starring at a puddle that had gathered on the forest floor. Starring at her own reflection with a broken look to her. Looked like the girl had been put through hell, scrapes and bruises, bloodstains on her tunic and cloak. The wind blew, making her hair shift, revealing two different length ears. Piper glared at her reflection before kicking the puddle, slipping in the process and landing in it, left to stare at herself again. Taking out her dagger she cut into her dark red tunic, carving out a strip of cloth which was then tied around her ears in bandanna fashion.

A little older now, the age Malik met her at. And there he was again. But he was yelling. Only glimpses of him yelling, or him acting out flashed, nothing more than that. His temper, his power lusting. Little bits of things about him that she had learned to accept yet hated deep down at the same time. Older still...bits of Neriak, parts he didn't know about when he left her alone by the horses for some reason or other. Those hateful looks from others in the city, the almost envious ones of others who were owned property down there. Hate of being looked at as a slave in such a way, of playing the part for the sake of safety.

Aella narrowed her eyes. "Seemed closer? What are you doing that you would know I 'seemed closer'?" Her knuckled whitened on her staff.
