Maborofel just to f*** with Bapp's mind so what you're saying is that humans as a whole should give up that which created them? Humans formed from the great apes that learned to use tools, so it's in our genetic NATURE to want greater tools, and as such, progress ...beat that Progress? Hardly. Technology was meant to make us stronger, not weaker. Yet humankind's reliance on machines has grown so much if you pit our usefulness against other animals we're probably near the bottom. We have lost our survival instincts from generations of mistake, and if we just take a step out of the well and look at the big picture from another perspective, we're one of the most pathetic creatures on this planet. We're pretty much parasites of the Earth. We take its resources and we don't return it. You can say 'eco' this, 'eco' that, but if we never existed neither would the word too because there'd be no need for it. The world would have been in perfect condition. @Steli: Nothing much. xd

ooh! philosophical argument!
yes, but what does it mean to be truly 'intelligent'? Humans, obviously, have some measure of intelligence. This limited intelligence has led to our progress and subsequent lessening of survival traits, because we don't need them anymore.
Eventually, we'll become intelligent enough as a whole to become truly 'human' and separate from animals completely, meaning no natural weapons, no survival instincts, no bloodshed, just progress. Hell, if we need to rip out our brains and put 'em in jars, then float around in space forever, awesome!
Because I believe in this: if it's going to happen, it will. If it isn't going to happen, it never will. It fits in pretty well with negation of paradoxes and time travel

But what gives us the right to consider ourselves 'better' than other animals? We're all made from cells, just that we developed a little faster than the rest. But we're just letting that get to our head now, taking away things that aren't ours and deem it as such. Our species has driven many others to extinction, and soon, it'll be ourselves. Because we've been educated to do as such, and we refuse to see that we could actually be the bad guys in this story called 'life'. Even if we did advance into space, what then? Go onto other planets, deplete its supply of resources, move on to others? We're a race of destruction and we're just refusing to admit it.
I'm no environmentalist but I'm frustrated on how we're just doing as we like and assume we know what will happen in the end when its far from the truth.

wow...you really ARE a ways behind me in the big questions...I had nearly those exact same thoughts myself for a while...then I figured
EVERYTHING NEEDS ENERGY TO LIVE, pretty much all of it comes from food. But if we could take something that is naturally occurring and useless, like cosmic background radiation, and turn it into energy to survive, no problems!
Hell, humans right now ARE still animals, what with destruction and all. we are WORKING ON becoming 'human' with every advance in knowledge we make. And when we finally become truly Human, we won't have need of such survivalist traits like greed or violence, thus they will not be
please, stop reading my mind from half a year ago

You say things like it's so easy, but what makes you think that this is, as you say 'going to happen'? There is no such thing as 'truly human'. We aren't that brilliant that we would think of a way to spare others while continuing to survive. Maybe you, but what about the rest of the world? We have people drugging their livestock for food, chopping down trees for farmland, feeding sewage to their fellow countrymen as soup. We aren't WORKING ON becoming human. We're just fulfilling our own selfish desires. We won't think of 'Oh the Earth is dying let's do something to ourselves like rip our brains out and let it float in space so it'll be happy' but 'Oh the Earth is dying, too bad my paycheck isn't here yet'. And at this rate, by the time anyone realises it we're extinct.
Your future vision of humankind is noble and smart, yes, and I respect that, but you skipped too much of the timeline. I'm not reading your mind from half a mind ago. You think you're the only one who realized this? They don't belong to you, y'know. We both probably thought the same thing, but you jumped too much forward and left details behind, which I'm covering.

'Our life is frittered away by detail...simplify, simplify' -some guy's famous quote
And I'm not ignoring the details, I'm assuming that they are worked out eventually, I'm just laying a foundation for the mental path that lets people do so. Besides, why worry about the details, we'll be long dead before any of this could EVER happen, it's the sad fact of life.

Can download apps and surf the net while on the train?
The net surfing part while on the train is what attracts me to it so much.
