are they? are they really? let's say the zombie ingest some type of paralytic poison that attacks the nerves. they may be dead but they still need a way to move so the nerves are alive, but then they become paralyzed by the poison they ate so they are unable to move and therefore they are unable to attack and bite people, spreading their disease there fore, preventing the zombie apocalypse from getting any worse and blah blah blah blah blah... LOL rant of the day! emotion_awesome

cHesHiRe_CaT_0013 are they? are they really? let's say the zombie ingest some type of paralytic poison that attacks the nerves. they may be dead but they still need a way to move so the nerves are alive, but then they become paralyzed by the poison they ate so they are unable to move and therefore they are unable to attack and bite people, spreading their disease there fore, preventing the zombie apocalypse from getting any worse and blah blah blah blah blah... LOL rant of the day! emotion_awesome They are! They really are. Because, see, poisons spread through your blood and zombies are dead so they don't have blood pumping through their veins, so a poison would never really spread beyond the location where it entered their body. At the most, eating a toxic thing would destroy its stomach, but since zombies are in a state of decay anyway, it wouldn't really matter. I doubt many of us have intact stomachs anyway, so it's all good. *nods* Worst it would do is make a zombie look a little worse for wear. Er...more than usual. emotion_awesome

It can be attacked by toxins but they generally travel via the blood and lymph system. Neurotoxins can travel via neurons but I'm pretty sure even they don't spread nerve ending to nerve ending--they attack nerve endings but don't spread via them. THEN AGAIN I COULD BE WRONG. *not really a biology person*

there has to be some type of circulatory system providing nutrients to the nerves, even if the zombie is a corpse. they may be dead but there has to be something sustaining the nervous system so spread of infection could occur; how else are they moving? zombies, fun subject xD

Toxins cannot spread through the nervous system as a pathway to the rest of the body (ie: how it would via the bloodstream). There are toxins that affect the nervous system (mostly in animals, very, very rarely in people), which are known as Neurotixns, but they do not use the nerves as a pathway. *lives with a practicing biologist*
