I'm back!!!

I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie over the summer, and my review is a resounding...

...ugh.

If you want even more evidence that Lucas has completely lost his touch, go see the movie. Now the Direction, as far as it can be separated from the story was pretty good, but Lucas's script, character design, and ego completely overwhelmed those moments that Spielberg's genius had a chance at shining through the crap.

Nice try Spielberg, but even you can't rise above that crappy material.

Very nice Nelo, try to add a bit more detail though, especially to the handmaiden.

Missing, no offense but from what Ive noted over these many months of association with you in this guild, it seems to me that your taste in films is somewhat lacking.

On the other hand, I must take Stellar's criticism with a grain of salt as well as he demands much from his movies, too much at times. Its not enough for him to be simply entertained.

I was entertained by some things, there were a couple moments where the old heart of the series shown through. Like when Indy and the gang went down three waterfalls in succession, or when Indy was fighting the Russkies in the warehouse and amazon. Indy surviving a nuclear blast by hiding in a lead lined fridge was really in the spirit of the originals, almost comedic.

What I hated:
1. Aliens... why god, why? Hell, George even makes Indy involved in the Roswell Incident. The Warehouse that everything is stored in has 51 painted on it (Area 51). It breaks the entire story throwing aliens into the midst of the thing.
2. Psionic research by the Russians. The main enemy is a russian "scientist" who is a researcher into Psionic weapons, ala Red Alert 2's Yuri. The crystal skull is pursued because of its "psychic powers".
3. Mixing the legend of the Crystal skull and El Dorado. Apparently Lucas didn't do his research when writing the script. The Crystal Skull legend revolves around an Aztec local in Central America, where 7 crystal skulls are supposedly buried. These skulls supposedly are a means of defending against an apocolypse in 2012, when they're placed together. All references to the apocolypitic part of the legend are removed, the location of the skull's resting place is changed to El Dorado, and the skulls are part of alien skeletons. Ugh.

Thank you for ruining the film for me.

Was that ruining as in I wanted to see it, or ruining as in confirming your worst fears?
