Techpriest Enginseer Baconator is like rolling a pig in salt and biting it. Sounds like every Hungarian meal ever.

Oh, king eh? Very nice. And how'd you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers. By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society.

Stop being dumb, Tres. Unless he's eating veges or grain to go with that, pork won't be coming out the other end any time soon on his diet.

Actually, my digestive system's pretty killer and I've eaten things far more turbulent.
It takes like... lots of seafood to make me destroy the toilet. So a mere Baconator is nothing.

Vintrict Stop being dumb, Tres. Unless he's eating veges or grain to go with that, pork won't be coming out the other end any time soon on his diet. Stop being dumb? You stop being dumb. You need to address the concerns brought up in me, Sigil Warden, Deitric and Fierach's conversation a few pages back about your prodigious incompetence.

It's honestly not really all that big of a fault on Vintrict, in earnest for once.
Taking a similar example, if you look at Tale Feather / Kalar's old version of Alan Dark Tournament era, the guy had relics. Each relic effectively gave him a pretty decent level ability, one-time use per match. Individually, they were mostly balanced and for THAT tournament, all balanced relatively speaking.
What the judges missed was the connection of all those abilities. They only looked at them from an individual perspective each time, when their interactions with one another and their ability to be utilized back to back replacing a resource system were blatantly and absurdly broken.
So there's little surprise in me Vintrict would deem Sigil "okay" and Deitric imbalanced. Vintrict knows first hand how effective Deitric's most basic combinations can be, while Vintrict underestimates Sigil's character (ergo obviously favoring Sigil losing despite Sigil becoming champ in V) --- therefore he doesn't seem that death knight's combinations as inherently toxic.
I'm not saying it's logic without flaws. It's heavily flawed logic.
But it's still understandable; I get -why- Vintrict thinks it's fine. See what I'm getting at?

Hael
I just don't understand how you can not think of a character holistically when determining whether or not he is balanced for the participation in a certain event.
Looking at each individual ability and then assuming that because they are all balanced as individual abilities, that they are also balanced when they are inevitably used in tandem doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
but be that as it may...
Sigil Warden's character being broken for the purposes of the GTB was really just an aspect of the discussion.
I think the criticism's focused mainly on his bias and inconsistency.
Which I guess can tie back to your point hael that Vintrict simply ******** up because he heavily underestimated Sigil Warden's character while overestimating Tres and Deitric.
Which is fine, like I said, if he made a mistake, he made a mistake.
The thing is Vintrict will simply never admit to doing so.

Will that satisfy you?

Well again, while I find it flawed, it's just a difference in mentality.
Vintrict whether he intends this or not, tends to balance based on concrete or implied evidence of effect. He's seen what Deitric or Tres or even Omi can do, and assumes their mechanics are imbalanced even if comparatively speaking, they're on par or even weaker than many submitted characters.
Meanwhile, characters he doesn't associate much with, either out of lack of exposure or mere lack of interest, tend not to get this scrutiny. (Sigil Warden)
It's not good. But it's a fundamental mindset.
Likewise, I for example have nerfed characters over at HoH specifically due to perceived imbalance in ability combinations the roleplayer themselves have either never thought of or never attempted. I'm paranoid about combination and strength-overlap, and even despite that (partly due to not getting to grade every character entered), I still failed to nail several glaring examples. RIGHT DIABLO MONK. YOU OVERPOWERED ********. RAH OVERPOWERED MONK.
But applying how I view the kits to how Vintrict might view them is flawed in itself. You can't expect people to see things the way you do. Even in persuasive reasoning and arguments, you're ultimately not giving them your idea but helping them see your idea in their own frame of mind; effectively offering them a compatibility filter and, if you can't achieve that..
That's that.
