Crissy watched her brothers eyes soften and his tensed muscles relaxed but if anything she only became more worried by his easy acceptance and reached back to brush Arjay's hand with her own. She was slightly worried that the two of them would fight...and while normally that wouldn't worry her but she did not know the power of Arjay's sword. If it were one vampiric male against another she might have stood aside and let the men....ha, boys would be a more accurate description, get it out of their systems. "I felt my own protection was adequate enough...thought someone was with me." she answered coolly, not moving toward her brother. "I do not answer to you."

Julian acknowledged his sisters words with a slight nod. "Indeed you do not." he answered, his voice held a subtle edge to it, though his gaze didn't change. "He however is not considered adequate protection...and while you are a force to be reckoned with in your own right, should anyone get as close to you as he was, and you would have been run through before you could have called for anyone." his eyes went flat as he spoke and a flicker of rage crossed his features for the barest of moments. He gestured to the strange male as he spoke, but dropped his hand afterward. Gazing at his sister for a long moment he shifted his gaze to the male. The threat and promise of retribution should any harm befall her evident in his pale gaze.

Lucid, who had sensed trouble brewing, stepped between Arjay and his son. His gaze was focused on Arjay, but his words were directed to his son. "Arjay is stronger than you are, Julian.." he said softly. "He is plenty of protection for Christiana." He gave Arjay a pointed look, then turned to look at his son. "There is no reason to worry about your sister. I do not believe she is in any danger here."

Seeing her father, a slight smile danced about her lips, making her dimples flash as she occasionally let it slip. Fighting the urge to roll her eyes at the oddity of men..who constantly seemed to think that glaring and blustering would solve conflict...the sad part was when the conflict was between males only it usually worked. Yeah, it a constant surprise to her as well. "Hello father...decide to join me on my little walk as well?" she asked softly, raising her eyebrow in a graceful arch to emphasis her question.

Lucid turned and gave his daughter a smile. "No. I actually came to make sure your escort did not kill your brother." he said. His tone was matter of fact as he spoke. He knew for a fact that if Arjay got worked up, both of his children would get hurt..and that was something that he had to avoid. At least for now.

"Ahhh...I see and now that you have done so?" she asked quietly, silently laughing at her twin and his ruffled pride at their fathers comments.

Marshall grunted as the tall grasses threatened to trip him again. For some reason, this had seemed a lot easier during the conversations back at the village. They'd not really mentioned how tall the grass here in the plains was though. Damn them all for forgetting to mention it. Reaching down, he gave the offending grass a shove. This only resulted in his falling on his a** yet again. Muttering a loud oath, he slapped at the grass in a childish manner. "Damn it, this grass!" he yelled to no one in particular. Bella stepped easily through the tall plant life, coming to a stop beside him. :Yelling doesn't make it go away, you know.: she stated coolly in his mind. He gave her a frown, then sighed. "I'm not even sure I'm going to right way any more.." he said, his tone almost whiny. "If I don't get to water soon, I'm going to shrivel into a raisin." At his whining, Bella gave him a disdainful look. :Well, we could go back, you know..: she said, lifting a paw to her face and licking it. :You don't have to go see if that castle is the Haven or not. We could just go back and give up your search..maybe take a bath or two.: "Absolutely not!" he yelled, getting quickly to his feet. "I came all this way..I'm not turning back now. Come on, Bells. We've got a castle to find." With this, Marshall went charging into the grass once more, his expression determined. Bella followed him, quite pleased with herself. She knew that with every step they took, he drew nearer to the castle, and with it, hopefully some answers.

Lucid tracked the kid's progress, just as he had been doing most of the evening. If nothing else, the kid was persistant. But that wasn't what had Lucid worried. No..it was the fact that the teen was completely resistant to the push of the protective forces that he had placed on the Plains to keep intruders out. These forces worked by implanting the feelings of fear and dread into anyone that tried to cross a certain point of the Plains. Just like in the waters of the ocean. As one drew closer to the bay, the forces moved the water against the boats, either pushng it back into deeper water, or into the sharp reefs and rocks that lined the area of the coast. It was generally the same concept. This made the Master Vampire frown. Not many could resist the push of negative feelings that one got from crossing those barriers..but this one male, only a teen, could. :Seth, we have an intruder in the Plains.: he called, using the link that he'd shared with his adopted son for many years now. razz lease go and find out what he wants. I fear the kid might be a bit lost.:

Seth felt as well as heard his fathers voice echo through his mind. Though he didn't respond, instead he forced his muscles to move into the unnatural positions that gave him such an edge in fights. As Lucid was planning to send him out yet again for more information regarding the ever intriguing mystery of Lyra...as well as Arjay's well being, he knew he would need the honing. Arjay, who had disappeared with little to no word to anyone almost three months ago. Of course thoughts of his friend still lingered in his fathers mind, he thought ruefully. Just as Lucid and Julian were finally seeming to realize they were so f***ing alike it was scary. And Christiana....with a shake of his head, Seth smiled, like Lyra, Crissy was a doll, she always lightened the mood no matter where she went or who she was with. Lucid had surprisingly sent Gabriel away fro a while, though he gave no explanation, Seth thought it had been because of the twins arrival. Gabriel too a lot of one on one which left his father little time to deal with other things. Although, he had to admit, he missed the demon...which was an odd feeling but true none the less. Finally stilling his movements, he sighed and reached out to touch his fathers mind. :What...you've lost your touch with kids after having to deal with your own?: he asked, his mind voice ringing with amusement at the thought. Obligingly, he started toward the plains.

Lucid thought about it for a long moment, then gave a shrug. :No, I haven't lost anything.: he said quietly. :I'm just lazy and don't feel like moving at the moment.: He did, however, keep a close eye on the kid, hoping the effects of the barriers would start working. Though, with Arjay and Gabriel both gone, he didn't really have much else to do.. Of course, he'd sent Gabriel away so he'd have the time to deal with his children and the problems with Lyra, but those were works in progress. This was something in the here and now that he could think about.

Rolling his eyes at his fathers words, Seth looked heavenward and smiled upon seeing the circle of his falcon. Talon flew toward the plains with a rather mocking cry. Seth knew very well his fine feathered friend was in the mood for a race, and for a moment he debated on obliging him. Shrugging he shook his head. :Not just yet old friend, lets go see where this kid thinks he going: his voice was warm with affection as he spoke to the bird. Talon who had winged to the right, flew in a lazy circles above his masters head upon seeing that he wasn't following...or falling for the old trick. :Very well then...can we hurry it up? We haven't gone for a fly in a while you and I.: :No...no we haven't. But we'll remedy that soon enough.: Seth rolled his shoulders, the muscles there were sore with a reminder of his workout. With a flick of his wrist he sent Talon soaring ahead of him, the falcons cry echoing throughout the night sky. Closing his eyes, he vanished after getting a decent fix on the location from Lucid. Though he appeared a bit behind the boy, he paused and watched him fight to move against the grass rather than with it. Dumb kids, he thought ruefully, they never think. Moving silently forward, he paused only a few feet from the teen. "Going anywhere in particular kid, or are you just going to walk off the cliffs and into the ocean that lies on the other side?" he asked quietly, lifting a brow both to emphasis his question and as a reaction because he'd only just noticed the cat not far from the kid.

Both Marshall and Bella spun at the sound of the unfamiliar voice, but only Bella managed to do so gracefully. Marshall gave a soft yelp and disappeared into the grass, presumably landing on his backside. Bella, sensing that this new man was a demon, gave a short hiss and puffed up, trying her best to look like a ferocious beast. Marshall struggled with the grass for a moment, then emerged, brushing himself off. "Jesus!" he exclaimed, putting a hand on the dagger tied at his side. "You shouldn't sneak up on people like that. It's bad for their health." He fixed his gaze on the man, sizing him up with a keen eye. He figured the man had him in strength, but he might be faster. He put on a brave face. Running away was the last option. "I don't suppose you know anything about that castle there, do you?" he asked, trying not to sound too hopeful. Bella, who was still puffed out like someone had passed an electrical current through her, moved to stand at Marshall's feet, her wary, amber gaze still intent upon the stranger.

Seth had found it hard to fight a smile when the boy had fallen bu the sight of the cat, the cat who looked as though had taken a swim and then proceeded to be hit by a blot of lighting...trying to look intimating was almost impossible to resist. He felt his lips twitch slightly, and eyed the boy as well, easily recognizing the signs of a street brat. Probably one with very sticky fingers...e concluded...as most were. "I know that if you managed to get inside of it alive without an invite I'd have to commend you. Not the best place to be eyeing for a mark kid...not if you value our hands." he answered softly, his voice holding a cold edge. He glanced upward as he heard once again Talons sharp, echoing cry and saw his falcon circling in the sky above them.

Marshall glanced up too, taking in the sight of the bird before returning his gaze to the man. He actually hadn't yet thought that there might be something worth stealing in the castle. Now that this guy had mentioned it though, the thought crossed his mind. Even if his brother wasn't here, maybe, just maybe, the trip would turn out to be worthwhile. He buried his new found excitement though, not letting even an ounce of it show on his face or in his eyes. "I wasn't gonna steal nothin'." he said defensively, trying to sound offended. He'd never been a good lair though, so he probably only sounded more guilty. "I'm actually sort of lookin' for someone."

Not even bothering to attempt to contain his laughter this time, Seth simply chuckled a shook his head at the boy. "Damn kid, you need to work on that. That was horrible...and even if you weren't originally the idea's in your head now. I highly doubt whoever you are seeking is here but lets hear it." he ordered, his tone had taken on the formal one that Lucid had ingrained in him when dealing with strangers. He had almost started to fall into his usually mannerisms...almost...but he'd caught himself in time.
