Maria frowned, then went off to find her favorite assistant. She knew she needed to be at the party, but boy was she stubborn. She needed to figure out what the hell was going on.
Diablo pulled Myra into his lap, holding her tight.
Madden shook her head, smiling up at Kuro and kissing him. "It's nothing."
But it was something. There was a certain man waiting outside. He knew that when Shiro went out, Maria would follow. And now that Kuro and Madden were officially engaged...Well a debt had to be settled.

Shiro exited onto the balcony, wrapping his cloak around him. He wanted to just go home and curl up with a warm bowl of noodles. After all, no one remembered him. He thought maybe Maria would be different. And he supposed he guessed wrong.
Kuro nodded a little and returned the kiss. "If you say so, my love."

As soon as Maria followed Shiro out onto the balcony, the man stepped out of the shadows. Time froze, aside from Shiro, Maria, Madden, and Kuro. "Go on home, raven," the god of death said with a smirk. "I have a princess to address." The god knew that Shiro would be unaffected by his spell. All four of them were involved in the transaction that Kuro had made. He'd traded his sister's love for Madden's. But Madden's life had all been up to this god. Now that it was clear Kuro and Madden were actually together, he could claim Maria.

Shiro was about to transform when things froze. He looked to the man, but he didn't obey. "Who are you." he demanded, wanting to stay with Maria. Even if she didn't remember him, he still loved her. He'd give his life for her.

The man approached Maria, who was slowly backing towards the dining hall. The god waved his hand, and a sheet of metal coated the doors leading to the balcony. He ignored Shiro, and lifted his arms. A storm started, and as it did, so did a swirling black portal of some sort in the sheet of metal he'd just conjured. It was a portal to his own realm of the dead. Screams were heard coming from it, screams of tortured souls, and Maria turned away from it. She backed herself up to a nearby railing, and the god raised his eyebrows. "You can either choose mortal, painful death, or you can simply step through the portal. Since your death was someone else's doing, I'm being nice and giving you a choice."

Shiro watched as the god summoned a portal to the realm of death. He looked to Maria, watching the girl he loved. He soon sighed. He never wanted to be an elder... All he wanted to do was see Maria. Maybe even marry her. But she didn't remember... So what was the point. "Take me instead."

The god laughed, shaking his head. "The amount of nobility that goes on in this place! Nope, sorry, it doesn't work that way. See, when her brother traded all of her love for you for his own love, it was up to me to restore the body of his dead girlfriend. I honestly expected them to mess up again, and for her to die anyways. But now that they're engaged, well. I need my debt. It's gotta be one of the two girls. You don't qualify." He turned to Maria again, holding out his hand. "Come now, don't be ridiculous. This won't hurt a bit, and you'll be pampered the way you are here. Your work as a soul stealer was spectacular. You're practically a celebrity in my realm."

Shiro was angry he could do nothing to get Maria back. And when he was told of Kuro's deal he didn't know what to make of it. But it didn't matter if he had a say anymore. Maria couldn't remember him and the god had so much more power to offer. It left the raven feeling just like Maria had dismissed him as. Just a common, dirty little pigeon. So the raven waited for Maria's decision and for time to resume. This was becoming so depressing and painful.

Maria shook her head, glancing between the portal, the god, and even Shiro. "What do you mean?" The god sighed and shook his head. "Really this is just so inconvenient. Fine. Your brother and his little fiance are the incarnations of a set of love gods. You came back heartbroken from whatever you situation with him was, and--with my encouragement--he essentially wiped all your memories and all your feelings concerning this raven here, and then used that to rebuild his fiance." Maria glanced at Shiro, confused. Was that why he remembered her, but she didn't remember him? She really wanted to talk to Kuro, but the god stepped towards her and grabbed her arm impatiently.

Shiro listened to the tale, watching Maria. But as the god grabbed her arm, Shiro went up and slapped his hand off Maria. Now the raven had never been the brightest bulb, and he was always a little too noble. But he wasn't going to let a god handle the girl he loved. Even if she didn't remember him.

The god stared down at Shiro and shook his head. "This is just too sad. I suppose I should have my brother clear your mind, as well." He thought deeply, and downstairs, a voice whispered to Madden and Kuro: "Come..."

Kuro perked up a little from the cuddling he was doing with his fiance. He then looked to Madden, wondering if they should go.
Shiro stood between Maria and the god, not letting the man any closer to Maria. But he wished he could get Maria to remember again. Or at least get the god to accept his life in both of the girls' places. Even if the god said he wouldn't.

Madden bit her lip and put her hand on Kuro's arm. But the god was getting impatient, what with this raven blocking his way. He technically couldn't claim the elder's soul yet, so there wasn't much he could to other than somehow maneuver Maria into the portal.
So, he summoned Kuro and Madden. Madden gasped as they were suddenly standing on a balcony. "Please, Kuro, for the love of my sanity, do the same thing to this kid that you did to your sister."

Kuro held onto Madden as they were summoned to the balcony and the god demanded he wipe Shiro's heart. Kuro wondered what was going on why he had to do this. All he wanted to do was live in peace with Madden.
Shiro watched as the god summoned the two. But he waited. If Kuro did as the god wanted, the raven feared he'd just become an empty shell. The love for Maria was all he had left really. He had no family, no friends, no pets even. All he had that was keeping him from throwing himself off the nearest cliff was that Maria would remember him, love him, and become his wife. But all this was in danger. It all came down to Kuro's choice.

Madden frowned, taking a step from Kuro. "What's going on here?" The death god raised his eyebrows and started to laugh. "Oh you didn't tell her? This is rich. I don't have time for this. What will it take for me to get princess and go?" The god's eyes flashed red in anger, and he glared at the raven, ready to kill him anyways and just claim two deaths that night. Maria looked at Kuro pleadingly. She didn't particularly feel like dying that night. And she wanted to know what the deal was with her and this raven guy.
