Madden could not hear him, though. Standing before the coffin were the two ghosts that she'd encountered. The boy looked like moonlight, and yet he transformed from a gardener, to a god, to a few other things. The girl looked like sunlight, and went from princess, to goddess, and always changed corresponding with the boy. As Kuro approached, though, they took the image of gardener and princess.

Kuro approached the two who stood over a glass box. He was ready to collapse, but he remained strong. "Excuse me. Have you two seen a girl? She and I were separated while exploring the temple. Have you seen her?" he asked, looking between the two until he spotted the glass box and what lay inside. "M-Madden!"

"The tests must continue," the boy said. "You have both proven that you would die for each other," the girl finished. "But you must also prove," "That you can sacrifice."

Kuro looked between them, swallowing some, but steeled himself. He would do anything for Madden. "What do you want."

"Leave," they said together. "Not every test can be passed," the boy said. "You failed this one," the girl said.

Kuro snarled some at the two. "Not without her." he said firmly, sitting down in the garden. He wasn't going to move until they either released Madden, or he died from starvation.

The ghosts waved their arms and an image appeared before Kuro. It showed him a god and a goddess, separated forever. Each incarnation of the god and goddess was separated, thrown through tests, and eventually separated again. Finally, it moved past Kuro and Madden, where the image showed Madden's death and Kuro returning to Mesilici. The final image was a couple, where the two were finally together. "That is the destiny that is laid out."

Kuro watched the images, but he was only confused and remained seated. "I won't leave her. I will wait here until I die." he said stubbornly, refusing to move. "I don't want to be away from her."

The ghosts only continued to watch Kuro sadly before they faded away. "You will be punished," they said before disappearing completely. Madden began to wake up, slowly, her eyes fluttering open. But she was met with quite a bit of lack of air. The coffin she was in was terrifyingly sealed shut. She tried to move but she started to cough as her lungs found they couldn't get enough oxygen. She caught sight of Kuro and banged on the glass, trying to get his attention. But then ivy, like the stuff from the garden but made of something hard and metal, clinked its way up the coffin, encasing it.

Kuro scrambled to his feet, rushing to the glass box, trying to tear at the metal plants. But he couldn't and Madden was dying. "Please! Please let her go! T-Take me instead! Take me!" he cried, wanting Madden alive. He wanted her to survive it had to be the two of them.

The metal leaves tangled around Kuro, pushing him away from the coffin and allowing him to see inside of it where Madden was still coughing. She watched, screaming out for her love but not being heard. Her head began to swim and she started to cry a little, because to her, the leaves were choking him and killing Kuro. But for all she really knew, she was already dead and just imaging things.

Kuro cried more, trying to fight the leaves, but found for all his great strength, he couldn't. "A-Alright! Alright! I-I'll leave... I... I accept my failure..." the prince sobbed, bowing his head a little.

The leaves vanished, and Madden was lying in the coffin peacefully again. There was no sign that she'd ever woken. "Little prince," someone whispered into the garden from the darkness. "There are always other ways."

Kuro glanced around a little as he tried to pull himself together a little. He wondered who was trying to talk to him. "W...Who's there?" he asked, still crying. He didn't want to leave Madden and it was tearing his heart out. But he vowed he would. And he had to.

A man came slinking out of the shadows. He had silvery white skin, black eyes, and long black hair. He smirked at Kuro and shook his head. "You don't remember anything from your lives? Why, you are one of my many brothers! A love god, such a shame though. The gods never seem to have whatever it is that they are in charge of."
