Terryn raised an eyebrow and grabbed him by the front of his shirt. "Desperation now? I believe that you are the one who is unable to go a week without impregnating another poor woman."
"Well...not a good one, but there is one." The earl sighed. "She could always come home early and find Terryn looking much larger than she remembered."

Marcus sobered. "Yes, there is that. But the church will overlook it, seeing that I'm a man." He took Terryn's hands and removed them from his shirt carefully. "And it's not as though I've forced any woman into it, nor promised them my heart and marriage. I thought you had contempt for these women?"
"And then you'll say that you've let her eat one too many sweet cakes?" answered the duchess, mildly amused and dubious.

"I did. And I do." Terryn curled her fingers around his hands and leaned her face in close with an almost sinister grin. "They were my permiscuous minions."
The earl chuckled. "I shall say she is smuggling hams for the next banquet we host." He motioned to the servants to begin cleaning up the meal as they exited the room.

"And very good minions they were, too," said Marcus slyly, before leaning forward and pressing his lips against Terryn's so that they could finally kiss properly without any interruptions.

Terryn was more prepared this time as she tilted her head and leaned back against him. She pressed her mouth to his and closed her eyes, keeping her hands clasped in his.
Good timing eh? The earl had just led the duchess into the sitting room to deliver the news and went wide eyed as he saw the two. Terryn looked so...happy...it broke his heart that he would have to pull her from the father of her child and the source of her joy. He pulled the duchess back out of the room for a moment and whispered. "Must we seperate them? I have never seen Terryn look like that since her mother died, it would crush her to take that away from her."

The Duchess looked rather uncomfortable. "Perhaps...we could let them spend time together today. But the harder it hits Terryn, the sooner they'll get married," she said, trying hard to retain her confidence.

"I know, I know, but she is my baby girl. I can not bear to see her in pain." The earl sighed and looked back into the room. "Never has any man caused her to feel that way, never."
Terryn finally pulled away, surprised at how reluctant she was to do so. She smiled at him before giving him another quick kiss and then one on the cheek. She dropped her gaze to the floor, feeling her cheeks becoming uncomfortably warm. She had never quite felt like that before.

The duchess smiled. "You know, I certainly did not expect the two of them to hit it off."
Marcus, who was...well, Marcus, had only just begun. He was a little disappointed and rather surprised when Terryn pulled away. "What? What's wrong?" he asked, shifting and lifting Terryn's chin so that he could look her in the eye.

"Nor did I to be honest." The earl rubbed the back of his neck. "A rather unlikely pair I must say."
Terryn looked up at him curiously. "Nothing is wrong. I just..." She shrugged. "I am not used to it is all."

"More impossible than unlikely, to tell you the truth," added the duchess. "Considering that I've heard Terryn cannot stand most men, especially ones like Marcus."
Marcus struggled with this valid but unheard of reason. "So you'd rather not..."

"She can not. It is almost as though they planned it all." The earl thought on that for a moment but then quickly dismissed it. Terryn didn't play with affairs of the heart.
"Rather not kiss you?" Terryn raised an eyebrow. "Of course I want to kiss you. But I have never done such things before. You must remember, as lascivious as I may appear, I am extremely innocent."

"But that is absurd," responded the duchess. "Marcus is neither terribly creative nor willing to go according to plan."
Marcus smiled slightly, but ran a hand through his hair in muted frustration. "But if you want to kiss me, why did you stop? I presume you didn't run out of air."

"Yes Terryn is the same." Though what if they had not planned on falling for each other?
"No, no..." Terryn shrugged. "I just thought...oh I do not know what I thought. It is unimportant."

The duchess was thinking the same thing. "Do you suppose we should confront them about this?"
Marcus, rather put out, frowned and leaned back in the chair. "It's alright," he said at last, thinking that maybe Terryn was just confused, and this problem would go away with time.

The earl shook his head. "No, I think not. It looks as though even if it was just a plan to begin with, things have drastically changed."
"Oh, come now, you are so depressed just because I refuse to be your whore." Terryn chuckled and moved so that she was sitting in his lap. "Is that really what you would prefer?"
