Thanatos, a**-tard, go respond to Rookin. I'm starting to get bored.

The thing that really sucks is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to explain to them the very nature of something like the LHC.

Scientists wouldn't get GRANTS from the GOVERNMENTS of various nations to collaborate on a machine that could destroy the entire earth. They wouldn't have experiments like that cleared by anyone due to the suicidal nature of it. Furthermore, scientists are responsible members of the community furthering INTELLIGENCE and using thorough work. They aren't going to "risk it all" on a collision that could "destroy the universe".

Now...

Someone make a KB version of The Major so I can fight you guys. Hell, someone make me any character to use. I don't care... I just don't want to make myself IC. That's like masturbating juices into your own mouth.

And that's only sexy when chicks do it.

Actually it's possible to explain it, it's just really difficult for them to understand or bother to think about it.

And scientists do experiment at times with a lot of risk, but usually they're contained. I'm not sure how true it is, but I've heard that people who developed the atom bomb were afraid there was as much as a ten percent chance that using it would cause a chain reaction that burned off the planet's atmosphere, a much higher chance than the LHC has of killing us.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 11, 2008 8:27 pm

No.

Scientists who created the atom bomb were loathe to do so because they realized their work which was initially objective was being turned into a weapon of mass destruction. Furthermore, the realized once it was out of their hands the damage a radioactive bomb does to a human being. In their own way, each of them felt partially responsible for the sloughs of flesh that slid off of people at Hiroshima.

And... that other city no one can remember.

The atmosphere won't burn off due to nuclear weapons, that's a fact. They've proven that many meteor impacts are more than capable of creating the heat and impact damage in the megatonnes, much akin to atom bombs.

That sounds all fine and good, and probably true. However, last time we were on the subject of science you weren't exactly literate in the works of science, KB, so forgive me if I'm not too willing to accept your statements of scientific fact xp

If you're still on about how I was messing up...

Mass and weight are generally considered to be synonyms in the real world, outside of the scientific elite. Forgive me if I'm not taking post-secondary education and such degrees of accuracy are more or less meaningless to me.

Regardless, I'm paraphrasing material I saw on the Discovery Channel as well as history videos from school. It's very possible that I was lied to and that any impending rock from outer space would reduce us all to slag.

*Shrug*

My request still stands.

Hiroshima, which was bombed by the Little Boy dropped by the Enola Gay, and Nagasaki, which was bombed by the Fat Man dropped by the Bockscar (I think), KB during the end of WWII.

Thanatos, the chances of an atomic bomb igniting the atmosphere were less than ten percent by the way. In fact they gauged it at less than a percent. If it were any higher the single detonation of the Tzar Bomba would have been sufficient to cause the whole of the planet to simply erupt in a big ol' ball of fire.

The differential between weight and mass are often times mixed up - in other words KB's no smarter nor ignorant for accidentally mixing the two up. Frankly unless the boy's had more physic education than a simple high school level (which he admits to not having acquired) then it's not an insult to his intellect to make such a mistake.

Frankly I think you're both twats...yeah, that's right you two are a massive pair of Grand Ol' Roaring Canadian Thunder Cunts.

Eh, I just heard third hand that's what the prediction was. I don't really care, since that's obviously not what happened. But anyway, I hope the LHC debacle is overwith... although there will probably still be doomsday predictions about it.

It's odd what we're talking about weight and mass when the LHC is supposed to say something about the latter.

The one that I really want to die is the 2012 idea. That one annoys me the most.

I hope the world does end on 2012, that way I don't have to actually LIVE through life...it sucks too hard.

One...I feel like i'm in history class...Most likely why I get sleepy when I read your guys posts.

Two...yea I'm going through rough times, but I dont want the world to End just yet, too many people to meet/see, too many places I havent gone to yet, and not enough dead bodies yet...

I -sorta- Like my Life...And i wanna make sure i get to do everything before i make preparations to make my entrance into my Estate on the northern Side of hell. In which...

Sai, you feel like you're in a history class because you have the attention span and comprehension of a five year old. <3 Don't blame me for that.

And Teg, congrats on your promotion to emo prophet. If I ever become super rich I'll hire you as a well paid butler who doesn't have to do much. Don't count on this happening because I'm not stupid enough to become a professional athlete and I'm not interested in being a business exec.
