Similar to how I feel Phia, but I'm still sick of people trashing on my country all the time, and not just my country but the men and women who are risking their lives to defend it. I can't tell you how pissed I became the other day while I was talking to a co-worker and he said the US Military is nothing but a bunch of oil mongers. I swear to god I almost punched him in his face I was so livid at how disrespectful he could be to those who are fighting and dieing to ensure his a** doesn't get a plane rammed into it!
No, no, you can talk trash about America all you want, fine I can deal with that, but when you disrespect the men and women of the armed forces then you've crossed a line that bodes no return with me. Our freedoms, as they are, are only present because of the blood of the soldiers, who put everything they are on the line every waking moment, was shed to uphold those freedoms.
So on that note: God bless the US Armed Forces, and any American who says differently doesn't deserve to have the freedoms they do have. And anyone else who has a problem with our military can just go right on ahead and screw off!
Hell I even respect Draeken for what he's doing. He may be doing it for his own reasons, be it money or no other option, but he's still serving his country! And that, ladies and gentlemen, deserves respect![/patriotic-rant]

Question: How does fighting in a country that isn't posing the threat of invasion, preserving one's rights and freedoms?
There's a big difference between preserving your charter withing your nation, and trying to apply your charter to another nation.
That's the lesson America had to be taught, which is why Canada didn't support their invasion of Iraq.
Then again... The plane thing is completely irrelevant. It was a terrorist attack, not an attack sanctioned by a nation's army. It was something a group did, and then Amercia went and attacked the entire Middle East.
The sooner you learn that this is just the continuation of Catholicism vs Islam, the sooner you'll be at peace about the nature of the fighting. This is a classic example of Western God vs Middle East Allah.

Rest of the post is mostly irrelevant since this is a rookie question.

It's a point. There's a certain set of parameters you're supposed to abide by before you go to actual "war", regardless of the offense.

Here's a thought.....make the idiots who decide war is a good Idea go smoke a joint.
Then all they'll wanna do is eat.
.....I'm aware that sounded rediculous and silly but if you think about it so do our politics.
This is why we need to legalize weed.
And I don't even smoke.

And I don't even smoke. For Once I agree with Phia. Our Politics make no sense and their reasoning is irrelevant to the crisis that actually need help, not Raising taxes or Sending more troops to a war that has lost its value 3 years ago.
but I Do Smoke every now and then, So I vote yes! to legalize weed. mrgreen
