*she readies the crew*
Alright men, now when the order is given, take out all you can. Shoot for the broadside, and aim low. Perhaps we can sink 'er. After the first round, reload as soon as possible, double-quick, and fire again. Once they get close enough, I want some grape shot and a chain to go out, at least to take out the main mast. With that out of the way, we might be able to get away.
*she nods and looks at her men*
There's gonna be some other crew members down here with you scurvy powder monkeys, so let's make sure they know who's in charge, but also make sure they know what they're doin'.
*she claps her hands together*
Alright, we wait for the order from the Captain!
PostPosted: Sun Dec 17, 2006 6:16 pm

Snapping to attention she grabbed a few men lying about with idle hands to prepare the guns she had been assigned. It had been years since she had loaded one of the large guns, but thankfully she had a capable crew with her that only required command. With the crew loading, she looked back to were the captain was, awaiting orders or a signal as well as keeping a sharp eye out for people with idle hands.

Kubain

*Kubain readies his whips, circling them around him on the ground, ready for battle*
I woke up late, so I don't know where I stand, I'll just wait for the battle to get on the ship, if it ever does.

As for weapons, I'll either use my whips or just my fists.

*his smile still stands as he puts himself into a relaxing state*
Being curious isn't a bad thing, on the contrary, it's more of a blessing. It's good to have all that knowledge later on
*he lets out a soft wink in her general direction*
PostPosted: Sun Dec 17, 2006 8:55 pm

Destiny looked up at Kubain from her place near the muzzle of the cannon. She laughed softly, her voice sounding like the soft chiming of a bell.

"Sometimes that curiosity has gotten me into trouble.. I was in London, and I had this nagging curiosity to find out exactly how.. something.. was made, so I .. slipped in and observed, and ended up with sticky fingers.. as it were, and made off with the printing plates for the Pound note. That, and quite a few assasinations are what landed me on the Lady. You see, I'm a... former/'retired for the moment' assasin. That's why I'm always armed with daggers, wire, short swords- all easy to conceal and handle in close quarters. Lets just say that the last assasination was a bit of a trap.. and I made it out alive barely. So then, I decided to try the life of a pirate. And so far, its suited me well. In the asassain's life, you're always, well, uncertain. And you always pick up things that at times you are better off not knowing-" her voice trailed off, leaving the sentance hanging.
" Here, the routine is regular, the fights are rousing and thrilling, and the duties are light-at least for me. I enjoy cooking, and being an all-around nice person. Its such a change from who I was.
How about you? How came you to be on the Lady?"

Kubain

*Kubain chuckled a bit*
Well, I guess you could say I just stumbled on, my memory has been bad as of late. I suppose I just signed up one day out of the blue.

Before I was on the lady, I was living in an gladiator's arena. I was born and raised around death and pain. I don't remember much of how I escaped, just that I ended up strolling around numerous ships as a stowaway until I found a ship willing to take me in, which happened to be this one.

*he shrugs*
Thanks for letting me you're an ex-assassin, I'll watch my back, and my rum, whenever I'm around you.
*his smiles grows larger as he lets out a soft laugh*

Destiny blushed.. it had been decades since a handsome gentleman had smiled at her..

" I'm a RETIRED assasin, and I am pretty sure that nobody aboard this ship is in any danger from me. Killing crewmates is an effective way to get oneself thrown overboard- I found that out the hard way- although my skills did come in handy at the sack of Toulon. Very useful for getting in and out of armed guard barracks to take out the commanding officers. They never knew what hit them."

She grinned wickedly at the rememberance.

" Now, tell me a bit about what you remember about being a gladiator.
Our of curiosity, are you human? Or.. maybe something else?"

Little Omi

*Omi's eyes snapped up and she grinned.* "Of course, sir! Sorry to be slow, sir!" *And she ran off to do as was needed of her.*

I wish I could tell you, to be honest. There are portions of my memory that were lost after I woke up. When I was a child, the older gladiators stayed away from me, I never knew why, nor did I care, it kept me safe more then once.
*he opens his hand, revealing a scar-ridden mark*
I have a few birthmarks that are still unknown to me, but I would be rude to mention them in front of a lady like yourself
*he closed his hand and looked back up at her*

She gave him a saddened look.

" I'm sorry. I wish there was some way that I could help."

As he kept talking though, her look changed to one of mirth.
"Its been quite some time since anyone has called me a lady- a very long time. On a side note- I never drinke more that 1 flaggon of rum every other day, so your rum is safe from me! wink "

So long as you stay away from John and his thieving ways, I trust you enough

Where do you get this kind of Rum, it's rather taste fulfilling.

Destiny looked between John and Kubain and shook her head ruefully. She knew a bit about theiving, and that it was not the smartest idea to practice it amoung shipmates.

" You don't have to worry about that mate. If things go missing, it won't be because of me. ...I'm loking forward to the battle, if it comes to that.. and anything that lies after.

Destiny grinned up at Kubain.

"MR. KUBAIN! MR. JOHN... I'LL HAVE NONE OF YOUR DRUNKEN CONDUCT THIS DAY.
STOW YOUR CASKS AND DON'T LET ME CATCH YOU WITH EVEN A HINT OF RUM ON YOUR BREATH.
I'LL HANG THE FIRST MAN TO SHOW ANY SIGNS OF DRUNKENESS.
I NEED CAPABLE, ABLE HANDS... NOT DRUNKEN SLOBS.
NOW, REPORT TO YOUR GUNTEAMS!"

*Having been watching the approaching ship, his focus had been ripped from it's place by the loud chatter in the ship's waist. Drunkness at this present moment was not tolerable. He hated to upset the crew, but it was vital that they were quick and clear-headed.*

"Mr. John.. your my Bosun: have the topmen bend on a new jib-sheet and crack on all the sail she can carry. When this is done, reef the topsails and prepare to where ship. We'll heave to; fire three broadsides per side and then get underway once again heading due North. Stay in the tops until I give you the word to go below to the gundeck. We may need to tack in sucession for an hour or so. I'll need you to relay orders to my men in the rigging."

"Mr. Wellemy, run up the colours."

*As the union jack rose up the flags staff, Horatio paced the about his holy ground upon the Quarterdeck. She was running fast before the 'Boadicea', but the rouge pirateer seemed to be a tad sluggish. Was she injured? No, she was french built: her bottom was deep and rounded. She seemed to buck as she rolled through the white-capped waves.

Walking to the forerail of the quarterdeck, the Admiral looked into the waist. his men were ready at their stations. The smell of slowmatch seemed to lingure about the ship. Gun powder kegs and shot flowed from below in the hold, totted by the young boys, the 'powder monkeys'. It was time to do their duty.*

"MR. MOWETT! RUN OUT THE GUNS!!! PRIME FOR THE READY!!!"

*The roar of the guntrucks sounded as the muzzles peered out of their ports. With guncrews of six at each gun, they sat poised and ready to fire when the order was given. Now they only sat... and waited.

Back on the quarterdeck, Horatio peered across to the quarterdeck of the 'Lady Washington'. It had been so long since he'd last seen her splendid form upon the water. He held no illgrudge towards the Ship and her Captain. He was a fine man: as good of an officer as any could wish. But the Admiralty Orders were clear: Seek & Destroy Rouge Vessel 'Washington' off of Gibraltor. Burn, Sink or Take her a Prize.*

"I'm sorry Kurisutofa... fate is a cruel mistress."

*Pulling his sword from it's sheath, he held it high.*

"FIRE!"

Lord Admiral Nelson

Sucking in her breath as she saw the cannonball whistling their way, Syn didn't bother announcing its arrival; everyone could hear the wind against its sides as it tore through the air in the ship's direction. For the first time a flash of fear went through her heart and she backed a step away, waiting nervously to see where the cannonball would whip through the ship, winding her fingers together. It was a strange day that Syn was concerned, usually completely carefree.

She still awaited her orders, having received none yet. She glared across at the British ship, muttering under her breath, "Damn ye..." For a moment that flash of something... 'different' could be seen on her, then it was gone in the next moment as she scurried a little closer to the Captain so she could hear any orders he gave her.
