themightyjello Xenogears is quite possibly the single greatest RPG ever made. As far as FF games go, 6 is hands-down my favorite. 5 and 4 are pretty awesome, as is 7. Not worthy of so many spinoffs, but still a very good RPG. But 6 was just superior to me in almost every way. It had a good, long, deep story that you could explore even further by going on all the -massive number of- optional sidequests for. Despite having 15 playable characters it still managed to give each of them a defined personality, a uniqueness of their own, a good character design, and even a lengthy sidequest or two just for them. They didn't just end up being blank-faced clones with nothing but a new character model *cough*ChronoCross*cough*. The evil plots actually followed a logical train of thought, rather than "why the hell are they doing this again?", and you could understand what was going on while enjoying it. The only thing I think 7 did better was the Materia system, which let you have a whole new level of customization in the characters. Unfortunately it removed the character-specific talents that most games have, but it let you set up the party the way you liked without having to worry about needing one specific person in order to make it work. I'd sing the praises of FFTactics but since it's not part of the numbered set I won't. Plus it would take too long. Indeed. I can't say much about FF6 (haven't played it. Really, really, really desperate to get someone to lend it to me and then maybe even buy it for GameBoy Advance), I can say I loved FF4, since it was my first FF. FF Tactics was good, but the storyline is kind of... confusing. Specially with the whole 'FFXII is a sequel to Tactics', when in Tactics humans are the only dominant highly-sentient race.

The Riot Guy I can't say much about FF6 (haven't played it. Really, really, really desperate to get someone to lend it to me and then maybe even buy it for GameBoy Advance) Google it. Grab an SNES emulator and a ROM and play it. Hell, IM me and I'll transfer you some... I think. *Checks to see if it's still on here since he formatted his HD.* Quote: FF Tactics was good, but the storyline is kind of... confusing. Especially with the whole 'FFXII is a sequel to Tactics', when in Tactics humans are the only dominant highly-sentient race. It wasn't really a sequel, it's just supposedly set in the same world. I can't say much about that though, since despite that in Tactics humans were the only race with any real civilization (I won't deny that some of the monsters would have been intelligent, but they didn't seem to have any real organization or technology). In Tactics Advance, I think there were different races, but I never played it. Also, in Tactics they never mentioned anything about that mist stuff, which was really so much more of an FF9 thing than anything else. But it was supposed to be confusing... it was about politics, and the overthrow of a kingdom. About the corruption of the church, and the cover up of important historical facts in order for certain people to save face. That kind of thing.

Eh... I know. But it still should've been cleared out mid-game or something. And also, the only thing I didn't like about Tactics was that you couldn't really 'walk around' places and what not, and the only character interaction is in Side-Quests, if any.
Also, yes, in FF Tactics Advance, the races of Final Fantasy XII are present.
I do enjoy Ivalice very much, though. I adore the highly realistic fantasy setting it portrays, though I didn't like Final Fantasy XII very much. Good backgrounds and settings. 'Decent' weapons and skills system...
A -way- too political storyline and bad character development and interaction. You hardly ever get to see them talk to eachother in non-goal oriented conversations. =/

Chaplain Fenix FF6 had the problem of being way too easy after a point. BUMRUSH MIME LOLOL Also: yeti on steroids. But you also had to split your party into 3 groups at several points. Which means you couldn't put all your A-team members into one group because everyone else would get ******** UP. Speaking of that, the 3-party mazes were just awesome. And the last boss fight was great due to the party setup. It wasn't really that awesome of a boss or anything, but they way they did it just made so much sense. "This is your party order, it will be filled until you're out." Instead of just picking your 3 to 4 favorites to fight for the fate of the world, you get to use all 15 characters; when one dies it's immediately replaced by the next person in your lineup.

Yeah, but it was just a couple times. And whichever group had Sabin in it didn't need anyone else.
Start showing love for Star Ocean 2.
I'm in your level 200 dungeon. Cooking delicious cakes.

For a minute there I was afraid no one was going to mention Tactics.
I would have been very dissappointed.
Also: On Christmas break I'm'a haft'a grab Xenogears and bring it up here with the ol' PS.

I'm gonna punch Shouyin if he hasn't been playing Xenogears like I ordered him to. Chris Custard Throw up your rockfist If you're feeling me when I drop this themightyjello As soon as the metal boot cleared the doorway, Joshua exploded out of it again with a - If he succeeded, Gamma would receive super-powered horns to the eyes, and there were two reasons he was betting that he would succeed: First, nobody ever expects you to throw up the horns. It just happens. Second, he was wearing Kazamaru's pants.

Whoa. Ryugi wasn't kidding.
He has like, every skillset I've seen on Gaia with the exception of embroidery and cocktail crafting. Plus equipment that does everything. Atleast he wasn't carrying a kitchen sink.

Ryugi Kazamaru Well, he can't crap lightning and fart thunder as far as I can tell, but it might be in there somewhere in fine print. If William Wallace were here he'd defeat the English with fire from his eyes and lightning from his arse.
