((He's learning! I'm trying to keep things interesting.))

The teacher smiled slightly. "No, 016...That is the color red. Can you say it with me? Red." He pointed at the blue circle, which had a number two on it. "That is the blue circle. Can you sit on the blue circle?" Perhaps next time he would try different shapes.

Gabby looked at the color below her. He was right! She had mixed them up again. "I sorry..." she said, before repeating "red" after the teacher. Then she got up and sat on the blue circle.

Xenres mouthed "red" to himself, staring at the color. So that was red. He put the two together in his mind and nodded. He looked at the teacher, waiting for the next step.

"That's allright. We all make mistakes at times. Even me." The teacher sat down with them on the floor, sitting on the green color. "Now 018, perhaps you can tell me what else is red in this room. 016, can you find the yellow colors?" There were brightly colored objects all around the room.

Xenres nodded and looked around the room. He raised one arm and pointed to each red object. "That." Pointed to something else. "And that." Another point. "And that." He didn't know what most of the objects were called, but he knew they were red. He knew his names, colors, and numbers. He just didn't have anything to match them up to...

"That is an apple, and a block, and a cup." He said, as Xenres pointed out each object. "Very good."

Xenres mouthed each word to himself. Apple, block, cup. Now those words had pictures, meanings, inside his head. He looked at the teacher again. Now what?

Gabby looked around the room. Yellow wasn't too hard. She pointed to a ball, a chair and a plushie that were yellow and smiled back at the teacher.

(>< See, this is why we keep up in the guild. Sorry guys.)

Edmund stood outside with the rest of the children, shifting from one foot to the other nervously. He had manuvered himself so that he was standing with his brother and sisters, although at the opposite end of the siblings from Peter. Because...Peter. Ugh. They hadn't allowed him to bring his little wooden sword - which he carried around everywhere after recieving it from his Matron on his birthday - which made him sulky.

The child's eyes widened as the teacher told Manelin to actually push him. And then as the teacher fell over and rolled. O...kay. Huhn. It was obviously to be a fighting lesson, then? Which kinda explained why he wasn't allowed to bring his sword with him but still...

"Excellent!" the teacher exclaimed. "Now, do either of you know your numbers yet? Can you tell me what number is on your circles?"

"Well...?" The teacher drawled. "Don't tell me no one knows what I did."

Gabriella blinked and moved so that she could look underneath where her tush was. She studied the symbols for a moment before shaking her head and looking at the teacher, hoping he would say what they were.

Vincent was trailing behind Tali as they went for their special lunch. He carefully kept his eyes averted and took the furthes seat he could away from him when they sat down for lunch. He refrained from making a face when he saw what lunch consisted of. Oatmeal? He hated mushy food. What was worse was the unappitizing gray color. Why'd he skip breakfast again? Oh yeah, 'cause Tali was there. Man, how confusing...

~*~
((Flashback Weeeeeooooooo xd ))
Vincent flung the door open and was overwhelmed quickly as someone virtually leaped onto him and clung crying. Sarcasm, relief, and some other things were hurled at him but this was a person, not a word. Faintly wondering if one of the girls were afraid of the dark he looked down to find a familiar white streak and chocolate brown hair. He thought he was going to choke, the color draining from his face and his eyes widening. Tali? Tali was thanking him over and over. Yes...he was afraid of the dark wasn't he? He made Vincent leave the light on when they were kids, but still?
A detached part of him though this should be funny. He finally landed a blow that counted and reduced his enemy to a crying child clinging to him for support but why wasn't it? It was sad, it wasn't even fun. It felt almost inhumane
"Tali, you're acting ridiculous..." He muttered, attempting to straitened the boy up. "Just like a girl." Did anyone even hear him? "Listen, I'm going to go...go get a Matron...no...do you want some water?" He was mummering, his voice faint and somewhat distant. What had Tali said he...
~*~
Vincent was jolted out of his revorie when he actually tasted his oatmeal. He made a face. His daydreaming had forced his body to feed himself with or without his consent. Sighing he forced down a few more quick spoonfuls to sate his growling stomach then...yawned? He went to bed early last night...if only to avoid talking to Tali but he had had plenty of sleep. He yawned again and swayed. He looked over to notice the others were looking blearly eyed and then Niki nearly faceplanted in her oatmeal. What was going on? He swayed again then caught himself falling forward, with one last halfhearted yawn he gently layed his head down and was gone.

((*pokes Elcryss* *-* Post in fight thread?))

Xenres shifted to look at the number he was sitting on. Well... Yessss he knew it, and noooo, he didn't. He knew how to say his numbers, and he knew what the numbers looked like in order, but he never figured out which number word went to which number symbol. He looked up at the teacher and blinked before saying a number word at random. "Seven?"

Manelin shifted nervously. Why weren't any of the others speaking up? Was he the only one who knew? He blushed a bright red and wished desperately that the teacher would let him go stand in line again. He mumbled about taking less damage under his breath.

"Speak up!" The teacher barked. "The entire class needs to hear this." he growled as his baleful gaze traveled the line of children.

"That's not quite right... It's number 9. But very close." The teacher smiled at the children. "That gives us a good starting spot today. We'll learn our numbers." The teacher got up and went to the low blackboard on one side of the room and quickly wrote out the numbers, one through ten. "Now, count with me. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten." He pointed to each number as he counted. "Now try it alone," he suggested quietly.

Manelin about hit the ceiling at the teacher's order to speak up. He shook for a bit before going still and replying in a clear voice, "You made it so you didn't take as much damage as you could have." If they teacher wanted him to speak up, did that mean he heard him and he was right?

- + -

Xenres peered at the number beneath him. That was nine? ... Ok. He twisted to look at the blackboard. So he learned his numbers in order? Why didn't he connect the words and symbols already then? He sighed softly then quickly rattled out the number words - in order - as he imprinted word and symbol together in his mind.
