The stairs were dark now. There were no more candelabras. Instead, the dark arms were flailing at Quilo, trying to grab his shirt and his clothes. He yelped at the contact, eliciting an angry squawk from his nezubat. But as much as he wanted to stop and comfort it, he had to keep moving--he didn't want those hands to touch him again! Stuff seemed to be falling from the ceiling all around him. He shuddered, just aiming for the bottom of the stairs.
Another thunk went into her pail as she pulled out some raisins. "Beginning to think I'm collecting these things."
Kiessi pointed up at some cute little ghosts hanging on a line in front of one of the booths. "Can I have one of those!" The attendant smiled and pulled one off, handing it to them.
"Well, could be worst I suppose." Kara offered and giggled a little. "Look what I managed to get!" She hefted up the green plushie to show Odessa.
Muahahaha! Mission accomplished. Anara smiled, twirling the little sugar skull around in her hands. Now on to more mischief!
Hardening their steel Glitch ventured forth into the maze. Upon scrapping past the curtains and turning their head away from the gleaming eyes behind them they were met with an ominous haze of smoke. They were alone. Did Azura and Sivar already go so far ahead and accidentally left them behind or was the smoke so thick that they just couldn't see the two right in front of them.
Hoping to catch up Glitch ran forth talking to the rookie as a way to ease their nerves.
Glitch: "This is not the moment to get split up. Rookie we gotta find the other two kids before it's too late."

Sivar's palms were starting to sweat, was it because he was nervous or perhaps because he was forced to hold hands the entire night? Pulling his hand free roughly to wipe the sweat off onto their costume Azura turned around displeased for the first time the entire night.
Azura: "What is your problem?"
Sivar: "What do-!"
Just then as they rounded the corner a face came peering out of the mist behind the turned around Azura scaring Sivar into silence. Azura looking at Sivar's dumbfounded face didn't notice the hand creeping up their shoulder before it was too late. The hand grabbed hold sending shivers down their spine and earning a scream both out of Azura and Sivar. Quickly Sivar grabbed Azura's hand and pushed pased the masked presence. The two went bolting further into the maze.

By the time Cosette and Argona hit the streets it was already starting to get pretty late and dark out. Most of the freshlings have since gone home, but Cosette kept her hopes up in that she still might see one of her friends from the orphanages.
Argona took a back seat as Cosette went up to each door asking for candy, but kept a steady eye on their daughter.
Argona: "Ah-ah. We should wait until we get home to eat the candy. It's always good habbit to check your food before you eat it."
Cosette having just come back from a home was about to eat one of the candies, but stopped upon Argona's instruction, but was unhappy at the idea of having to wait when they got home. A little frustrated she puck the small chocolate bar back into her bucket.
Cosette: Changing the subject "I haven't seen a single one of my friends from school. Do you think they are still out here?"
Argona: "I'm not so sure, it is getting late, but even if we don't see them we can come back for a visit another time."
This didn't seem to make Cosette feel any better. Instead they tried to shrug it off as the approached the next house and rushed up the steps to collect more candy.
Before long, the pair made another few rounds around the park and found themselves at the entrance again. They gave one another a look and laughed. They were both getting pretty tired, weren't they? Was it time to find a caretaker and head back to their dorm?
"I had so much fun tonight, even if we lost each other for all that time..." He pouted, taking Emma's hands. "I promise that, next year, I'll wait for you to be one hundred percent ready before we go! That way we don't miss a single thing together! Sound like a plan?"
Emma nodded fervently to Laurel's words and grasped his hands. Yes, it would be much better if Laurel waited until they were ready next year so they could catch up. It was hard to be lost in the crowds, but they had found each other eventually thanks to the bells on their costumes. However, without those bells, they could've been lost forever!
"Yeah, I'd like that! Let's make that our plan for next year!" They agreed, before allowing themselves to be tugged off toward the dorm. It was time to dump their candy buckets out and count just how much of a haul they'd brought home!

Sascha was very cross with Dahlia for wandering off, but was even more so upset by the fact that yet another familiar had chosen him as their owner! The offending cat was happily hopping alongside him, mewling and being adorable. How was he supposed to say no to something that cute? He sighed, and locked eyes with Dahlia.
"Alright, we're going home now. Daddy's very tired." He heaved, mentally kicking himself for being so easily worn out. "You're to share your candy with your brother, okay? Please?"
Dahlia nodded affirmatively to the request to share with Laviticus. She had plenty of left overs to give to her little brother, that was no problem! She'd even share the plushies she won, too! She didn't want her brother to be left out. The little hybrid took her father's hand and gave it a squeeze, before being lead away from the park.
"Thank you for taking me, daddy! I had lots of fun!" She chirped.

By the time she reached the entrance, Sequoia's poor little paws were aching all over! She almost couldn't wait to get back to her dorm for the night. However, the booth closest to the entrance had some extra plushie left over, and she couldn't resist walking the remaining feet to take another Nezubat plushie from the pile. They were too cute! It was like they were enchanted or something!
"Well, I've got a bunch of new fuzzies to snuggle with tonight!" She laughed, patting her candy bucket. "... Hopefully I got everything, because I'm way too tired to come back later!"

Ares decided to make another round of the festival games, but he didn't get very far before he felt something rubbing against his legs. "Hmm?" Looking down, he caught the familiar sight of his new vespercat, Tallulah. "What're you doing out here girl? I left you back in the dorm for a reason." Reaching down to pick her up, he got a nice handful of wet gummy poo dropped into his hand. "F******g Nasty," he swore, dropping it into the nearest trash can.
"Tal, I did not want that dropped into my hand," he said with a disgusted look, rubbing his hand on his pants. "Alright, lets get you back to the dorms then, and this time I want you to stay there." After picking her up, she flopped over his shoulder and started to purr, tail flicking idly. This was one of those times when his tail came in handy. With his hands full of cat, he couldn't keep a hold on his bucket and had slid it onto his tail to carry.
When he got back to the dorms, he'd be in for a surprise. Tallulah was still in the room and now he had a cat that was identical to her.

The next game Elliah played didn't fare much better, she didn't even play well enough to earn a prize. A bit dejected, she trailed away from the games. Maybe she should just trick or treat at the houses? Shaking her head, she smacked her face a couple times before clenching her fist. "I can DO this. I just gotta find a game that's more my style!" Encouraging herself, she perked back up and strode over to the nearest game.
This one, happily, was a simple "Pick-the-right-pumpkin" game. There were a multitude of floating plastic pumpkins in a mini-pool. A few nightmares were playing already, but it looked pretty deserted. Once the booth owner gave her a nod, she picked out one, holding up the red circle on the bottom to the game master. To her delight, she got a bar of scream chocolate. Ooh, this stuff was good, not to mention it was pretty clever of them to enchant them like they had. She could have some fun with that later, she thought, tucking the treat into her pail.

With the spectrefox trailing after her and occasionally nudging the middle of her back, Pepper cheerfully caught up with the caretaker. "Look what I got now!" she told them, gesturing to the dark fox. They startled, turning to look at Pepper before commenting on it. "I've got three skyfish, I can take care of him too!" she pouted, stomping her foot. She would do a great job taking care of the fox! Her skyfish were all healthy, especially Raffe, who was flying around her tonight.
She was almost so upset about the accusation that she passed up one of the last houses on the street. Raffe got her attention before taking off towards the house, and she haughtily went after him. "Trick or treat!" It came out not quite as nice as it should have and she ended up with a slightly melted bat. Well. . at least it wasn't another of those gummy poos. "Thank you," she told them, calming a bit. It was still mean for her caretaker to say that she wouldn't be able to take care of the animal. So what if it was a little bigger than her skyfish; it still deserved a home!

Needless to say, Hailey kept some extra space between herself and Malachi as they walked now. She was far too weirded out by the fact that he KEPT THE RAT! Yuck, yuck yuck! Well... it was kinda cute, but still... YUCK! And as they got closer to their next stop, she stared at the bucket, wondering if she could do this again...
Malachi watched as Hailey kept some distance from him now. It was beginning to make him feel pretty sad, actually. Knowing it was because of Chester, he moved Chester to his other shoulder and stepped closer to Hailey, grabbing her hand and smiling. He felt very relieved that she didn't pull away... thank goodness. Giving a nod, he stuck his free hand in the bucket and she followed his lead.
"A rock and a plushie... Plushie makes it better! The rock is just silly." she remarked, rolling her eyes as she stuff them in her bucket. It sure was getting to be quite the full bucket!... even if most of it was yucky tricks.
Malachi giggled a little bit at Hailey. She really was funny and not many could make him laugh. That was probably one of many reasons he really liked being around her. And he looked down at what he got from his pull. A bracelet. Oh! Moving surprisingly fast for him, he let go of her hand for a moment to slide it on. Smiling to her, he retook her hand in his and gave a squeeze.
After Malachi had snuck the bracelet on her wrist, she beamed a big ol smile at him. "You're the best, Khai!" and she just about tackled him in a hug! Of course when she came nose to nose with the rat, she let out a shriek and stumbled backward, falling on her butt!
Malachi watched her fall with wide-eyes, then just burst out laughing to the point of tearing up. He really did love being around her!

Glitch heard the voices, or rather the screams, of both Sivar and Azura.
Glitch: "Not good!" Glitch thought before bolting towards the area they heard the scream come from within the maze.
Glitch: "It's the Candy Culprit! It has to be!" But it wasn't long until Glitch had stopped unsure of were to go next. They were at a crossroads within the maze when they felt a sneaking suspicion that something was behind them again. Whipping around Glitch came face to face with not the gleaming eyes they thoughts they would be met with, but that of the souless gaze of a masked nightmare. This while it offput Glitch having taken a step back also surprised the haunted maze employee. They had not yet scared them and upon being discovered their presence didn't utter a single yelp.
Glitch: "Did you see two kids run by?!"
Employee: "Uhhh???"
Glitch: "I said did you see two kids run by? Both taller than me, both have blue pale completions? One's in a cruddy costume with a hoodie and a mask?"
Employee: "Yeah- they went that way." The employee finally gaining back their composer pointed Glitch into a direction they thought the kids ran in.
And with no time for a thanks Glitch was already running off after them.
Employee: "Man that's one hard boiled kid."

Sivar and Azura must had ran all the way until they hit a dead end. By then the two were panting and well out of breath. Any fizzy pop they may have picked up in their buckets was well shaken too, and even to quench their thirst wasn't worth the chance of opening it to have it fizz all over the place.
Azura: "Just- Give me a second...to catch- my breath."
Sivar: "Yeah-.... .. . me too."
Taking deep breaths the two of them took a few moments to recuperate. Thinking back on it now, the being that walked up behind Azura wasn't that scary and was clearly a man in a mask.
Sivar: "Man- I can't believe you fell for that."
Azura: "What do you mean you can't believe I feel for that. You screamed first!"
Sivar: "No need to yell, but you totally jumped when that guy touched your shoulder."
Azura: "I wasn't the one who booked it out of there. You just grabbed me and off we went."
Sivar:"I'm surprised you're complaining. That's all you've been doing to me the whole night. I guess now you see how anoyying it is." After he spoke there was a hateful silence between the two. Sivar felt good thinking he finally stuck it to Azura who had been making him misirable and board the whole night. He expected a lame come back, but not this. Azura sniffled and held back a tear.
Azura:"You are such a jerk!" And before they could stop them, let alone realize what was going on Azura had taken off and was enveloped by the stage smoke.

Cosette walked in silence becoming more and more dejected as the night ran by. Argona had noticed fairly early on, but didn't know how to address the problem.
Argona: "Have you picked up much candy yet?"
Cosette: ". . ."
Cosette didn't respond and found the perfect opportunity to even further herself from the conversation by bolting up the next set of steps onto someone's porch. Argona really didn't know what to do now and was worried that perhaps the night would have to come to a quick end if Cosette wasn't feeling up to trick or treating. "How odd." Argona thought. "I thought that Cosette was looking forward to this. What's getting her in such a bother. Did I say something wrong?"
The latest house she visited had been a walk-through haunted house type place. It wasn't sooo bad, they weren't too scary... Though she did wonder about the prizes she had gotten. Popcorn was nice... She guessed. It had candy in it and Yua wasn't about to start complaining about the free food she was getting! But seriously what was this thing? It didn't resemble any living creature that she knew of...
