"But I'm going to help out. It was either they do this or they go and do something....." Dante trailed off. He picked back up again. "dangerous." Dante looked over at her. "Victoria. Please I'm fine. Plus you don't want to lay down when you've been drinking anyway. More risk there." Dante looked up at her and gave her a look of reassurance. "I'll be fine. Don't worry." He looked at her still as she stood there.

Victoria sighed at his stubbornness and sat down, looking away in anger at both of his responses. "Dante, it is not a good sign if you are throwing up after you drink. It means you are drinking too much." She usually wasn't this stubborn, most could tell. But this time he was her friend and she refused. She got up again and went into her room, got him a pillow, and patted it down onto one end of the couch, smiling at him.

"Please, Dante. I want to help you." She narrowed her eyes, getting pushy now as she crossed her arms. "If you won't let me help you now, I will refuse to let those guys into my apartment tomorrow. I'm sure you gave them my address." She grinned wickedly at him. "And I wake up early." In truth, she woke up a little before six every morning. She then groaned, realizing she had work in the morning and she will not be able to catch them in time. She knew by the time she came home after lunch, the place would be clean. She frowned at him, sighing at this fact.

Dante looked up at Victoria again. He saw she was sorta glaring at him. "Fine. But remember this, I usually don't give up this easy." Dante chuckled a little bit. She already knew this, and he said it jokingly. "Yup they have the address. So you never answered my question." Dante asked her again, since he was persistent.

Victoria chuckled quietly, knowing he would do something to make her irritated, but meaning for it to be a joke. "Alright." She sat down on the coffee table in case he decided he would lie down on the couch, (which she doubted) and sighed when he asked her the same question. "Nothing, nothing." She said it quickly and looked away, smiling at the wall, but not being able to look him in the eyes.

Dante laid down on the couch and fluffed the pillow under his head. He turned onto his side and faced her. Dante could tell that she had something to ask, but she was playing it off as if she didn't. He did a quick chuckle. "Are you sure about that? I'm thinking that you do. But I'll go with your answer" He took a drink of the milk that was on the table. Dante started to think. He would turn the table on her and ask her questions. "Ok then. Let me ask you this." Dante cleared his throat. "What made you take the risk of letting me stay here? Like we just met and everything. Plus you don't even know if I have a job or anything." Dante was being clever. He liked to see how people thought, and what they thought about. He also liked to read people before they could realize what he was doing. "I mean, ya you wanted to be a friend, but what's the real reason? And I'm not asking in a doubtful or mean way either. I'm just asking in a curious way." He started to dig deeper. He knew what he was doing as he said this. He wanted to see her reaction. Dante wanted to find out more about Victoria than he already knew or suspected.

Victoria bit her lip, relieved that he had not pushed her into answering that awful question. She wouldn't have known out to answer it without sounding offensive. She sighed when he started questions and laughed at some of them. At least he was laying down now. Her eyes softened as she looked down at him and smiled. "Look, Dante. You are my friend. You may be new to me, but you are a friend. There is no other explanation for letting you stay here. There is no risk of letting you stay here. I know you wouldn't hurt me, I've seen you with Aria and you are fine with her, why not me? I trust you, as a friend." She stared at him, wondering what his own reaction would be to that.

She took a deep breath before continuing. "As to you not having a job, that has nothing to do with letting you stay here. Because this is my home, and you know I will kill you if you even suggest trying to pay for everything. Including my groceries. I'm fine, Dante. Really." She gave him a glare, firm with that decision. She was not changing her mind. He was her guest and friend. She would not let him do anything. And she would try to talk her boss into letting her go on lunch break earlier..so she could catch him and make sure no cleaning would be done. There would be, but only by herself. She closed her eyes and reopened them, not looking at him anymore. "I don't like..people doing things for me." She said this slowly, knowing it was true. "Even when my mom said she would get me something to drink or anything when I was younger, I wouldn't let her." She looked down at him and smiled a bit. "When I was old enough, I would help her with anything. I was afraid of her thinking I would become selfish and lazy..." She trailed off, hoping tears wouldn't come. She really needed to stop thinking about her parents every minute.

"Seems legit." Dante said as he thought about the answer. He really was a good friend to Aria, sometimes at least, and he never knew it showed. "I don't know. I'm just not used to people being so kind I guess. Even myself for that matter." Dante began to think. He then turned the tables back on Victoria.

"Who said I didn't have a job. I said you don't even know if I do or not. But you were right. I don't have one, and I'll never need one either." Dante sat there for a few minutes before continuing. "Why would I let you do everything? Yeah it's your house, but you are the woman. The least I could do is be a gentleman and help." Dante began to think about himself. About how he was independent. About how he had to fight for everything he has. He also knew how tough it was, so he wanted to help those in the same situation. "Yeah being independent is nice. But it also brings stress. Look at me." Dante said before pausing. "I rather save people from stress, then to sit by and watch it happen."

Victoria frowned at him, standing up. "I don't care if I'm a woman!" She said this angrily, surprising herself at her fury. "I'm independent too, and I think you should sit on the couch and let me do the damn work! This is my house. And even if you don't have a job..." She realized what she had just said and sincerely said sorry to God in her head, angry at herself. She never cuss. She then tilted her head at him, the angry glitter in her eyes going away as she thought about what he had said.

"You don't need a job?" She asked carefully, curiosity taking over. She narrowed her eyes at him and then asked, "Why not?" She wondered if there was something he wasn't telling her, or if he already told her and she hadn't been paying attention.

Dante looked at Victoria with amazement as she angrily yelled at him. He never would expect Victoria to be the angry type. Not even violent. "Whoa calm down. It's not that big of a deal." Dante said before she heard her question. He normally wouldn't tell anyone why, because it's sorta shocking when you're talking about Dante, but he would this time. The only reason was that he was living in her house and she deserved to know, or at least he thought that. "Why not? Because I have money in the bank." Dante paused. He felt the sadness coming back, but he pushed it aside. "When Alex died his mom sued the city for wrongful death. Why? Because the police and medical units didn't come right away because it was "gang violence". She ended up winning A LOT of money." Dante emphasized the two words. "Since I was Alex's only friend and like his brother, and I also tried to save him, she gave me some." Dante paused again, before picking back up. "Since I was a child practically, my mom took it upon herself to invest most of it. It turned out good for me I guess, since I still have investments and still receive money every month from that. I also have my part Alex's settlement too."

Dante got quiet for a few minutes. He wasn't sure about telling Victoria about any of that. He was not the type that would have money. He was not the type to want money either, but he kinda had no choice. He knew he would not be able to spend all it by the time he died. That's why he also helped people out. Why he practically gave money away. As long as he had those investments and continued to invest, he would not have to worry, and could do what ever he wanted. "This is between me and you. No one needs to know. If you really want to know I can tell you how much I got." Dante took a risk there. He wanted to show Victoria why he was so independent. Why he did all those nice things for people. He wanted to show why tried to make up for his actions with nice deeds.

Feeling a bit nosy already, Victoria shook her head at his offer. She was interested in his story, but she didn't want him to think that she just wanted to hang out with him because he had money. She wasn't like that. She had seen his eyes widen when she yelled at him and she quickly sat back down on the table, letting her voice change to gentle once again as she said, "Sorry for yelling at you. Again, I just don't like people doing things for me. It makes me feel like I can't do it on my own." Her eyes were not on him, but the floor. She felt guilty for getting upset with him over nothing. "Look..." She bit her lip and sighed. "Dante, if you really want to help me, then..." She didn't want to say it, but she had to. She wanted to help him, he was her friend. "Quit drinking for me. Please? That would make me feel better, knowing that your health isn't in any danger." Her eyes glanced up and she stared into his own, pleading. She really cared about him, and she didn't want him to kill himself for stupid things.

"If you insist. I won't have them do the work then. I'll just have them do something else." Dante said as he laid back down. His eyes were fixed on the ceiling as Victoria spoke. Then he heard her request. His heart sank at the thought. He couldn't let it show though. Not drinking was going to be the death of him. "You want me," Dante paused. He finally spoke again, "You want me to stop drinking?" Dante was quiet for a little while. I can't. I won't. I will and I must. I gotta do it. My body can't handle it anymore. But then again I can, so what does it matter? thoughts raced through his mind. He looked back at Victoria. "But-" Dante stopped as he saw the pleading look in her eyes. "Fine." Dante left it at that. What did I just agree to? Dante thought as the idea passed through his mind. He was in for a real challenge with this one, and he wasn't sure if he was ready for it...but he had to do it. Not just for Victoria but also for his family...and himself.

Dante checked his phone. It was 1:30 in the morning. "What time do you have to get up?" Dante asked as he set his phone back down.

Victoria saw him hesitate and she closed her eyes, praying for him to say yes. Please, God. I don't want him to be like this for the rest of his life. She almost felt like dancing around the room in joy when he agreed to the deal. She smiled at him and kissed him on the cheek before he asked her another question. This time she didn't blush when she did this, and she thought for a moment before sighing and murmuring, "About seven. I'm usually up before than though." She knew that she would be late tomorrow if she didn't go to bed now, but she really didn't want to stop talking to Dante.

Dante felt the kiss on his cheek. It didn't really phase him since he was still juggling the thought of what he just agreed to. He heard the answer to his question, "So you mean in about five hours?" Dante said with a chuckle. He thought about what all he had to do tomorrow. "We should probably get to bed?" Dante asked her. He could handle staying up all night, but she had to work, which would not go well with a short amount of sleep. "After all you have to work, and I have to," Dante paused again. Should I really tell her what I have planned? Dante thought before continuing. "I have to go buy a car tomorrow, and go check out some apartments." He knew that the car idea was not going to go over well with her.

Victoria rubbed her eyes and sighed, closing her eyes. She was tired, and she almost didn't catch Dante saying something about a car and an apartment. She opened her eyes and leaned forward, her head in her chin, her eyes narrowed. "How much is this car going to be?" When she was this exhausted, she didn't pay attention to what she says or does. Her eyes were weary and she hoped he wouldn't insist she go to bed.

"Well the last time I checked it was around thirty thousand. So I'm assuming it's still that much." Dante looked for her reaction. He knew something was coming his way, but he didn't know what. He watched as she showed signs of being tired, but she kept going. She knew when she needed to go to bed, so Dante was going to go with the flow.
