Maybe he's a troll **hopes**
I can see where they sort of get the Oðinn-Hermes thing, just because the Romans associated Oðinn with Mercury. It's the ecstasy and the words and stuff more than anything else. They apparently didn't pay much attention.

Yep. Pretty much the same way the Romans equated Tyr with Mars. It's pretty much what they did, equate other people's gods with their own based on the most superficial of resemblances. And since for a lot of people, the Roman and Geek pantheons are interchangeable, that's basically where it comes from.

Oh and sorry for not doing what I said I was going to last night cat_sweatdrop While it hasn't gotten as hot as it was a couple weeks ago and even though we have AC its hot as balls at my house and Zane's mom said I could spend the night to escape the heat. For once this summer I was actually cold while trying to sleep. cat_whee

I'm moving all the old holiday threads to the archives, and checking out some of the old topics in the meantime. There are a heap of 'em! I kind of want to resurrect some but I think most of the active members have commented on them already sweatdrop

I've been getting all these free kindle books lately, but I'm really sort of disappointed. It's weird because a lot of them are Avalonia Press ones - and Sorita D'Este is rather well recommended by a good many people (and I like her Circle of Fire one), but I got one that is like a list of all Gods/Goddesses that were worshiped in Britain though the ages, which is kind of nifty to have (and still a good starting point for further research, especially if you can get it cheap), but I really don't think all the descriptions are always accurate. Of course I'm not sure, because a lot of them I've never heard of, but of the ones that I am familiar with, it seems kind of off in some places.
Some of the other ones (by different authors) are truly horrible. I'm going to have to start posting reviews or something. xd

There are a lot of books out there like that and they're not all free. Thorsson is a highly recommended an oft referenced source for rune lore and such but I don't care for him at all.

The only author I've really been reading is Grimassi, and only because our local library (finally!!!) got some of his books in. Sadly, I've also been working on my reiki class and getting ready to move, so...can't read them as much as I'd like.

Hi there everyone. Wow, there seems to have been a spike of activity since I've been away. Apart from annoying people on the forums, what else has been happening?
