Turning about, Destiny saw the Captain talking to her. She walked over, and leaned against the railing backwards, and braced herself with her hands on the rail. " Its a fine day to on the sea, and a pleasure to be on deck Captain. So, we be headed west! I've always wanted to see what was over that horizon. How long a voyage will it be, so I know how to ration the galley supplies?

Zoe stumbled onto the ship, looking around, taking in it's beauty. She grinned, looking up to the sky and basking in her happiness. She was finally a pirate. Looking around, she saw there was plenty of rum. Eyes wide, she looked in her purple sack and took out her bottle, taking a large swig. Zoe looked around for her Captain, wondering what she was to do on this ship. Was she going to cook? Sew? Entertain? Fight? Either way, she was just as happy to be sailing the seas with a fine crew, even if she had to scrub the decks until she was 85. Oh, it was a happy day today.

Turning from the Captain, Destiny saw a new face aboard. Leaving the Captain for a moment, she wandered over to the new arrival.
" Greetings and salutations. I'm Destiny Ravenhart, ship's cook, and part time asassin. I cook, clean, and just do whatever else that needs to be done. What brings ye aboard lass?"
Destiny looked very interested in hearing what the girl had to say. Noting the rum bottle in the girl's hand, she shook her head. Pirates and their rum.. she thought to herself.
" If you are in need of something to do, I could always use help in the galley. My last assistant jumped ship at the last port, so I"m a little short of help. Or, if you're in the need for some pleasant conversation, or just shooting the breeze, I"m happy to do either. Mostly I clean, cook, clean, cook, run errands, fish, cook, clean some more. Any break in the routine is welcome. " Destiny gave the girl a big grin and winked at her. " I hope you find life aboard fulfilling and pleasurable."

Zoe looked up at the laddy, grinning. "Oh! I am here 'cause I have been livin' on that ol' dogforsaken island thataway."She pointed behind her shoulder with a jabbing thumb, still smiling. "I am Zoe Lovelace...I'll probably be doin' the cleanin' or..somethin'. I'm not trained in much, essept stealin' and playin' me ol' fife!" Zoe grinned proudly, and pulled out her fife, hand carved with her own two hands. "So, erm.. Does the cap'in give me orders or do I jus' sortta start workin'? Zoe didn't know much about how ships were ran.

*Somewhat let down at the fact that Miss Destiny had abandoned the conversation, the Captain approached her as she talked to the new recruit, Miss Lovelace. With his hands clasped behind his back, he smiled as the two attempted to speak loudly enough ove rthe still roaring wind.*
"We'll be far over the horizon and away from this blasted mess of a storm in the next hour or so. As for the galley stores, I've charted our course and have decided upon the Western Trades. It'll be a voyage of approximatley three months crossing the Antlantic and then we'll resupply in either the West Indies in Port Royale or farther south in Brazil.
So, if you can ration the supplys as such, we'll be in good spirits until the America's. But I doubt we shall suffer, our cattle are healthy, our greenstuff in over abundance, and our water stores are fresh... but just in case, I want you to take Miss Lovelace here and rig a rainsheet. Collect all the fresh rainwater that you can and stow it away in barrels. We'll need casks of it... at least 30. You shall find empty casks in the aft of the hold."

Destiny turned back to the Captain with a contrite look upon her face. Aye Captain. I shall do so right away. By the bye Captain, I hadn't meant to abandon our conversation. It appeared to me that you had become lost in thought, and I saw a new face aboard. Not wanting to disturb you, I went to welcome her. If I disapointed you Captain, you have my humblest apologies. She made a sweeping bow towards the Captain. " I shall endevour to stretch our rations long and well. You'd be suprised how much one can come with on very little ingredients..

"Oh, no... it's quite alright. I'm sorry I was drifting in the first place. As Captain, I shouldn't be doing so.'

" I'm looking forward to the journey, and more time at sea. You're a fine captain sir, and its been a pleasure sailing with you. Now, if you have a request for dinner, I'll see what I can do in the galley. Or, if you have a favorite dessert, I can do that too.
Destiny leaned against the rail, hanging on lightly, to make sure that the rolling deck wouldn't pitch her off. She half-closed her eyes, loving the feel of the strong, stormy wind in her hair, the crisp salt spray being dashed against the decking, and the feeling of almost flying over the water. It was not something that she would trade for the world. Even though she was only a cook, and not an officer, a ship was the right place for her to be. The wind tugged at her hair, pulling it out of the tight ponytail that Destiny usually wore, and uncovered her ears just for a moment. Thetips of her her ears were sharply pointed. When she realized that her ears had been uncovered, she yanked her hair back and tied it down again.

"Plum-Duff Pudding... I haven't had it since I was a midshipman, no more than your age, Miss Destiny. I would surely be enthralled if you were to make it so. Simpley delighted."
*Looking at the ship's course, he called to the helm.*
"TWO POINTS TO STARBOARD, MR. VANSTRING; MISS BEAUMONT. KEEP US OFF THOSE ROCKS."

As Baxter emerged from below deck, his left shoulder hit off of one of the beams, and the pain he had put out of mind rushed back. He winced, at this, and also thought of how he was going to replace the door on the cabinet that his shoulder had gone through.
With a sharp sigh he put it all back out of his mind once more and proceeded onto the deck. He inhaled the fresh afterstorm air and also observed that the night was over as the first sliver of sunlight could be seen cresting the horizon to the east.
He was relieved to see that nobody was seriously injured, however there were several minor ones. He caught one man limping about and had him sit down. He gave the leg a going over and told the seaman that he should avoid heavy labor on the leg and to otherwise walk it off.
He proceeded about the ship bandaging small wounds and splinting any severely sprained joints. The work took him a couple of hours to reach everybody
As he turned to walk back to the quarterdeck to sit on the steps he heard a voice behind him.
"Doc, there be a somethin stickin out of your shoulder."
Baxter turned around and saw that one of the crewman had taken note of his injury. as he reached back to his left shoulder with his right hand he felt a rather large chunk of glass imbedded in his shoulder that he hadn't realized at first. He grit his teeth, ranked it out and tossed it into the ocean.
"Thank you, good sir," Baxter said sharply as he stifled the pain. He then proceeded back to the quarterdeck and noticed everybody was on the port side while the Captain paced around, and so he went and sat on the steps on the port side as to not draw attention to himself.
He removed his shirt and saw that the entire left side of the back was stained red. He also noticed that the shirt was all still there, and that none of it was in his shoulder. He put the shirt on the deck and put his foot over top of it. He rummaged through his bag for more bandage materials; he found what he needed and sat up. He put a large wad of cloth on his shoulder and then proceeded to try to wrap some linen around his torso to hold the bandage in place. As it kept slipping off he grew tired of it and gave up.
He threw the bandage on the deck with his shirt and rolled the linen back up. He reached into his bag once more and came up with a needle and thread. He then proceeded to look over his shoulder and sew the gouge shut with his teeth and his right hand.
