Bornes gave a disapproving scowl. "That is not why I am upset."
He was upset because by accepting Isiah's position in the Denzien society, he would also have to accept that he himself was inferior to the entire town. He wasn't ready to do that. Plus, there was last night. That probably wouldn't be happening again any time soon.
The hybrid glanced toward Isiah again, behind him. Tsurai was following them. Well, at least the boy was good at being quiet. Bornes would change the subject.
"Do you know anything about that boy? That.... Tsurai?"

Isiah sighed, rolling his eyes shut, equally glad that he'd changed the subject. "Nothing. He must be one of Kaegan's new.. projects. He used to pick up a lot of homeless teens and work them into something he liked. Wouldn't surprise me if this were the same thing."

Bornes stopped again with a sigh. "Then tell me what you want." He raised his voice so it was louder, motioned toward Tsurai, who was still a distance behind Isiah.
The boy's posture stiffened.
"Yes, you. I see you. What do you want?"
Tsurai begrudgingly walked forward to the other two men, giving a pleading look toward Isiah, before turning to Bornes, caught red-handed. "Well?" Bornes asked.
"I was just listening," Tsurai replied innocently. "How did you see me?" Bornes gave a chuckle. "Good eyes, I suppose. You can walk with us if you want."
Bornes turned again, began walking toward the edge of town. "Where are you walking to?"
Bornes hmphed. "No where in particular." Tsurai walked around Isiah to the other side of Bornes, to walk nearer to the hybrid. He eyed the hybrid's tail, still amazed that it actually was real. "Then why are you walking?" He asked.
Bornes looked down to the boy as he walked. "If you want to walk with us, you must be quieter." He brought his left index finger to his face and made a "shhh" noise.
As much as Bornes was annoyed, it had still been a goal of his to have his own kids someday. He liked playing father, but hadn't done it much at all.
Tsurai gave a bleak whine in response.
After Bornes was sure that Tsurai would stay silent, his focus went back to Isiah. "I want to talk about last night," he said flatly.

Isiah was a little weirded out by how Q simply invited the boy to join them- he figured their conversation was.. well, over, but before it was, it was relatively private.
Then when THAT came out of his mouth- well he frankly couldn't BELIEVE that Q wanted to bring that up. Out. In the open. In front of a child.
"... Pardon?"

Bornes continued to walk, but slowed his pace a bit. "Kaegan came by. While you were out."
Tsurai cocked his head, slightly more interested now that Kaegan had come up.
"I told him I wanted to be of use. He hinted at possibly joining up." Bornes looked over to Isiah's face. The hybrid was still unsure about joining, but he wanted to see what Isiah's reaction would be.

If Isiah could have without losing face, he would have released the hugest sigh of relief Q'd ever seen. His posture however, relaxed, loosened, and he took a deep breath before speaking. His brow furrowed forward, turning over to look at him. "That's up to you," he offered quietly. "But you've just seen what you have to do to be part, and stay part of it. It's a never ending struggle."

Bornes tilted his head slightly, a bit surprised that Isiah had not blown up over the implication of his joining.
Bornes paused for a moment in thought as he walked, looking up to the sky. He still couldn't see the stars, and still, after all these days, was unsettled by that.
"You seemed so unsettled the other day over something." He pointed toward his neck, which had already begun to turn a faint purple. "You never clarified why." His gaze turned to a glare.

Isiah turned his head away with a frown, eyes going low. "... I told you I was sorry," he offered quietly. He wasn't exactly excited about the prospect of talking about... feelings... then again, what man was?

Bornes looked to Tsurai, who seemed to be growing bored, then back to Isiah. "I suppose I may be thickheaded in this matter Isiah, but if it was not about the cigarettes, I would like ot know the real reason behind why my neck hurts."
Tsurai popped in. "What did he do to your neck?" Bornes looked back to the child and said "Shh." "You can talk when we're done, Tsurai."
He looked back to Isiah, waiting a response.

Isiah paused, trying to find another way to stall. "You really gonna make me do this in front of it?" He pointed at Tsurai with his thumb, turning his head away as they continued walking toward nothing in particular. He waited for a moment, sighing as he knew he was backed into a corner.
"I don't know," he mumbled, near silently. He knew Q could hear, but maybe not Tsurai. "I just lost control." He shoved his hands into his pockets, staring down at his boot tops as he walked.

He let out a sigh from his nose. "We'll talk about it later, I suppose." Bornes wasn't willing to take that as an answer, but he would elt up on talking about it in front of the boy. The boy whom he turned to now. "Isiah decided to put me in a chokehold over some cigarettes."
Tsurai scowled. "I would've thought he wouldn't be the type to smoke." Bornes cocked his head. "Really?"
Tsurai nodded. "Smoking's harmful."
Bornes stifled a chuckle. "I smoke too. But not as much."
"That's too bad," Tsurai said with a frown. But he quirked a brow and cut in front of Bornes.
"Are you a werewolf?! I have to know!" He seemed excited. Bornes stopped in his tracks and gave a fake laugh.
"I don't know, " he forced, trying to stay laid back about it. "What does Isiah think?"

Isiah quirked a brow upward, giving Q a weak smile. "He totally is. Except he's cursed and STUCK that way."
Tsurai's eyes widened, his mouth falling half open. "Really?"
"Yup," Isiah quipped quickly, to keep Q from ruining the fantasy. "Stuck in mid werewolf stage forever." He 'elbowed' Q in the side, gently. "Must suck to be you."

Bornes bit his lip to hide a chuckle at the elbow. He understood this was a fun time, but it was still a sensitive subject. He was pretending for the kid.
"Sometimes I get the urge to howl at the moon, but I can't," he stated solemnly. "Human vocal chords and all." That was partially true, but he'd never admit to it. "It's horrible," he said.
"Are you allergic to silver?" Tsurai asked, wide eyed.
"No," Bornes replied. "That's a myth."
Tsurai walked around Bornes, and gave his tail a quick tug, as if to confirm for sure it was real. The hybrid stopped and gulped back a whine. He yanked his tail from Tsurai's grip and twisted around.
"Don't do that!" he shouted.
"....Why?" Tsurai questioned.
"Well, it's, er.. It's rude." Bornes didn't want to state the real reason. It hurt. A lot. He reached over and yanked on Tsurai's head of hair.
"Hey!" Tsurai shouted. "What was that for??"
Bornes stood back up. "See what I mean? Not so comfortable, is it."

Isiah chuckled, but nodded seriously when Tsurai looked in his direction as if it were a great shame for Q not to be able to howl. He gave Q a quick look, looking back at Tsurai, then at him. "We should uh. Get you inside. All of this truth telling must be exhausting."

"Yes," Bornes stated, thankful for Isiah's save.
"But remember," the hybrid stressed, bringing his finger up. "Don't tell anyone. About the werewolf thing." He poked Tsurai's chest with that finger.
The boy looked down at the finger and gave a confused frown. "But..?"
Bornes closed his eyes for a second, taking a deep breath, trying to center himself. Then he opened his eyes, concentrating on Tsurai's face, causing his eyes to glow a faint green. Green enough to be startling to no one who had seen it before. He then raised his upper lip in a scowl as he growled out a ferocious sounding "Go back home!"
Tsurai backed up in shock, "Okay. Okay. I won't tell anyone!" He turned around and jogged off.
Bornes let out a few coughs, then rubbed his neck. "That actually felt kind of good," He hoarsed, referring to the growl earlier.
