EDIT: Anyway, I'm just reminding everyone that I'm not saying that suicidal people are lazy or selfish (since what seems to have gone amiss). I'm just one of those people who believes that suicide should never be seriously contemplated, much less carried out. There is always a saving grace that makes life worth living.

Oh, I never thought you were calling suicidal people lazy/selfish. But the thing is that depression is a mental illness. You can't really help having suicidal thoughts, it's just an automatic thought that stays in your head. And when the only thing people say in response is that suicide is a horrible and selfish thing, that only makes the person feel worse. It makes him feel like he's a bad person for even considering it. Or at least that's how it makes me feel.

That does make sense...

Okay, I'll amend what I said. Contemplating suicide is understandable for those who have depression, but it doesn't make sense to me for other people to consider it.
(And before anyone starts making assumptions, no, I'm not implying that people with depression are inferior or different in any negative ways.)

A person enjoys having someone as a friend and because of that, they don't want him/her to die - but they ignore just how much pain and suffering that person is in.

Or maybe they just really genuinely don't understand it?
Because how on Earth can someone know or imagine the exact, specific things going on in someone's head without having experienced it themselves? And that's what makes it so hard for other people to understand, right? They can never be sure if they understand fully what that person is going through.

I was just pointing out that I don't think it's fair to call suicide selfish. . . when saying you want a person to live could be considered selfish as well (in a weird sense).

But no, I don't think that's really the case. I don't think people are like "******** your suffering, play with me!" xD

I just . . . don't like it when people say suicide is lazy or selfish, because I feel it really minimizes what people go through.

Oh, if you're going to take that approach...

Pretty much everything is right and wrong in some sense or another.

Like, say, coming to someone's rescue when he/she tries to commit suicide. Normally this would be considered a good deed, yes?
But what if he/she continued to live a miserable life which eventually ended in a horribly painful death?
Then preventing that person from killing him/herself becomes a bad thing.

I've used this example in the past too, but say there was a mass murderer that could be killed with the simple press of a button.
Most people would press the button without a second thought, but what if he only killed other mass murderers?
Then keeping him alive would be better.

I think simply saying, "It makes me uncomfortable when people say suicide is a lazy/selfish action" conveys it just fine.
But it still strikes me as selfish. You're removing yourself from the world, and leaving behind a painful loss for loved ones in your absence.

You’re right, I haven’t seen you this upset before D: So right now you’re upset and not feeling like you fit in, but not everyone is a horrible person. Spend some time to get to know some people! Perhaps you could try joining a club or something? You can try to talk to your parents about moving up a grade. As for college you keep your goals, don’t allow people to mess with them. Be strong. You can try talking to your parents about moving back... but I don’t know if that will work. In the mean time just be the lovely person you are and allow yourself to look for the positives *hugs*

As for the GMH stories, I can see what you mean... but that’s the ‘half empty’ way to look at it. The story about the little sister shows a love for her older sister and a wish to protect her even if she’s small. The one about cancer displays the way people band together to show someone they care, sure it won’t make the person well but it helps their mental state. I mean our posting doe sent make you feel any healthier or do the same job as meds... but it still helps you, right?

And uhm. I would, but a ton of people dun have tickets, so it's more of a maybe thing.
And I do like hugs. I just....sometimes feel uncomfortable when it's sudden or unexpected. Then when I ease up like mid-hug the hug is over. I'unno. I initiate hugs more often now than a year ago, for sure, but there's fewer people I'd want to hug. xD
I'd totally want to hug anyone in this guild though. Totally. ouo

And yeah, basically. xD But it's a lot less weird when you've known the people for like months to 2 years, depending. My problem is that I'm pretty sure I'd weird people out IRL. XD I act nothing like I do online, I admit.

It's like. . .Like. . . Four different people trying to revive/do CPR on people in different situations and they fit it to this really sad song and and and it just kinda really hits home to me because I've watched people die right before my eyes and today, my uncle was diagnosed with a heart condition. That's 11 relatives with heart disease.
