She stared at him a moment, then just smiled brightly at him. "Well good then I'm not Tier'dal then because I'd probably be the worst there was." What he was getting at with the whole Tier'dal thing...she wasn't sure what that was. Like he was calling her one. If it was a poke at her to be more active in her trainings, or simply in a round about way complimenting/insulting her, seh couldn't tell. Damn him and his words sometimes. Though there was also the message that he did expect her to shape up and grow up...
Kieran was logging that, though he didn't hold that slightly perplexed look that Piper had. Unlike his daughter he had a fairly well understanding of what Malik was saying, race and all included. My he did have a way with words and the like now didn't he? Kieran always liked that trait in anybody. "Tough love." A chuckle at that.

"Tough love indeed. perhaps another reason for our high birthrate. we kill eachother off before we're even fully adults."
A grin at Piper's perplexed look, though he wasn't going to explain it this time, she could figure it out on her own. so attention back to Kieran.
"Though I am a bit curious as to how you manage to run a kingdom with all this galavanting around. if the King of Neriak left the palace for more than a day he'd find the Queen having taken over."

A blink at him...oh look at that...he wasn't going to pat her on the head and explain things to her. Well good...she could figure things out just as well as anyone else. Brushing a few strands of red and silver from her eyes she stood, smoothing out a few wrinkles in her tunic. At least the world looked right again.
Kieran chuckled. So they were going into his job aspects were they? Well he'd oblidge the inquisitive drow. He crossed his arms, elbow of one propped on the other letting his hand rub at his chin with a grin. "Who says that I'm even gone is the better question." He nodded. "That's the first part of it all really. The second would be the Zephyrs. They allow quite the bit of freedom to run around what with thier abilities. Third...well Farhian isn't the easiest place to get to. Lucana is mostly mountains... Farhian is nestled in thier peaks. I leave my business to my closest confidant and he hasn't failed me yet nor has he got it in his head to try and rise against me. Running a kingdom isn't too hard when your people are happy. My only worry is the occassional drow raid or some over zealous elven warrior who gets it in thier heads to use my peninsula to access the vrist outpost." A shake of his head. "If I catch one more youngster trying to, "he quoted the air, "prove themselves by taking on a drow', I'm going to just guard post the whole place. I have enough from non annoyed drow as it is." Kieran blinked in Malik and smiled. "No offense to you of course."
"You still using Lateef then?" She remembered her fathers ways easily enough. After all, when she got to spend time with him they went out all the time...rarely spent a full day in the stone carved city or palace.
"I did say my closest confidant didn't I?" Triple colored eyes flicked to Malik. "Good to have a good friend now and then who wants no part of the responsibility of running a kingdom. Good elf that Lateef."

"I can fix your problem. next time you get an uppity little elf that wants to prove himself, send him to me. he'll get his beating from a drow, and your drow won't have to raid you as much in retaliation. A for your close confidant and the general location of your kingdom. nice ideas. Though personally I'd still keep an eye on him. but that's just the drow talking. we don't trust very much."
A small grin.
"my only confidants are Nightmare and Piper. though you are working into teh circle quite well, Kieran."

A smile and a laugh from the moon elf. "I am, am I? Well, I consider that quite the honor...I know how hard it is to earn a drow's trust...seeing as it is given to few, if any at all." That made him happy inside. Malik may of wanted him and Fianna to accept him into thier family ways, but they were equally hopeing of Malik to let them in his. Drow were one of the hardest races to get along with...especially if you're a surface born elf. "Though I'll keep that in mind...what with planar gates goign up, makes travel between all to easy." He snapped his fingers. "Which reminds me...you and I need to work out a pass system for that thing, can't have just anyone waltzing through it now can we?" Kieran got that male egotistical look about himself then. "Lateef knows better than to cross me..." The young elf had crossed the elder one once and had learned from his mistake the first time he made it.
A smile at Malik, latching to his arm. He could really place nice with the other children when he gave them a chance. Yes it took much effort to get close to Malik, or better said, to let Malik allow you to get close to him. "Now now, can't have you beating on the younger generations too much..." Though a little laugh from her and a look to Kieran. She remembered that day...because her father had sent her home a month earlier than she was supposed to go. Back to Malik. "Almost all of the main elven cities in Andal have some sort of natural protection, and then the specific barriers that are set up." A thinking look a moment. "Well maybe not Carris too much...but that'swhat they get for having a harbor to thier front and a plain to their other sides."
"Carris has its battalions."
"Oh right...high elves."

"Oh we can't? and here I was thinking I coudl just snag strays for slavery.."
A small grin. was he joking? probably. but his expression might make someone not so sure. and he noticed the difference in Kieran's talk about his second.
"I had one commander question me in teh field, once. and now every night he wander's Kithcor forest, looking for hsi eyes and tongue, among other parts. That was a glorious battle..even though we were bested that day. It was still worth dying to be there. at least though, I was spared the Curse of Kithcor."
A looked at Piper and a chuckle.
"High Elves...the Koada'Dal..the only race of elf that might actually take warfare more seriously than the Drow. and that's why they are such a powerful force on the field. My first real fight was a Koada'Dal paladin..we met in some minor raids and skirmishes. always a draw, until he brought me down at Kithcor."

He smiled, seeing as even if Malik was using double talk...Kieran didn't feel threatened by him. Besides...not too many would venture a gate that lead to the Underdark. There was going to be enough of an uproar about it as it was...best to limit its use. "Curse of Kitchor...I take that goes with the wandering one as well?"
"How lovely..." Oh no...there they were gonna go again...babbling about little pieces of information to each other that they found so fascinating. And on one of Malik's favorite subjects too...the elf could rant about battle and such like no one else Piper had ever met. "Our Cala'quessir are no different...strict in their training and intricate in thier tactics of course mixed with the elegent of our breed in both thier ways and their equipment."
Kieran laughed. "You used to get upset when we went to Carris if I remember correctly." The port city did have a reather overbearing feel to it. For the place that was farthest from the drow, most heavily armed, and in a rather peaceful plane...it indeed brought a feeling of tension.
A little frown from her. "Any child would be."

"Kitchor..a day that was one ot behold. the Child of Hate, Lanys, and her mentor..took teh bulk of the Tier'dal army, gathered up what trolls, ogres, and other foul beasts..and went out to war. we marched through teh forest of Nektulos, and into Kithcor. from there we raided and sack Rivervale, the home of the halflings. a third of the force, myself included, were left there. the rest marched on, thruogh the commonlands and to teh karanas, to Highpass Keep, up in the mountians. we expected no conflicts from freeport, as it's leader was an ally."
His eyes took a far off look, liek he was seeing that war, thoe places again.
"Highpass is a slave and gambling center, oweing no allegiance to any..but it is needed to pass through it to get to the human city of Qeynos. Of course by then our invasion was known. the Knights of Truth called on elvish allies, who came without question, along with Fironia Vie..a paladin and avatar to teh goddess Tunare."
"It was a terrible war. glory and legendary. we intercepted most of the resistant halflings, many humand and elven srmies in Kithcor, while Firoinia and Lanys met in Highpass Keep. I only heard rumor so fhte battle, but shadowknight avatar to paladin avatar...it was somethign to behold. but Lanys was bested. her fury, her hate, got the better of her. seeing this, her mentor sacrificed himself to save her, by openign a gateway to Hate. I know not of the torments Lanys must have endured for her failure."
A small smirk.
"I met the Paladin Rainmare Wyndrider on that field in Kithcor. hE had aquired a new weapon, called the Nature's Defender. a weapon from teh very plane his goddess rules. and I was bested. I still remember the shinign blade sliding up through my midsection. it was like a first lover, my first death. I'll always remember it. but for our failure, Innoruuk cursed Kithcor. and all that fell that day are doomed to rise every night, and wander that haunted forest. either looking for the living to slay, or replaying thier own conflicts."

She snapped her fingers in front of his face. "Okay A'mael, come back from battle land." A small chuckle from the dual blooded elf. Malik did enjoy his battle memories, and she didn't suppress them either. She didn't hold the love for battle as Malik or even her father did, but she always let it pass. Not to mention that sometimes they were good stories to hear.
"Quit the vengeful God, and not tolerant of failure at all, is he?" No, you think so? Kieran and his rethorical questions. Which of course made the realtionship between Malik and his God even more intriguing to the elf. Yes he had done his homework on the God...and found it particularly amusing how Malik was actively defiying him, yet saying he held true to him. Amusing. Which lead to another question of more personal sorts. "Yet the God you look to so easily...you defy. Yet you've yet to meet with a form of punishment for that?"
Piper had to say something of course. "I always say that oneday either one of us or both of us are gonna get smote."

"Because my defiance helps him. By loving Piper, I inspire hatred. hatred of those that would not see this kind of union, or hatred of those that think I have brainwashed or otherwise corrupted her. hatred against her, for being with me. such as that high elf. hatred of my own people, for choosing a weak surface elf over a tier'dal woman. and through her, I hate. I hate those that hurt her that seek to harm her. like Kaden. Not to mention I have my own hatred for Innorruk. back before I met piper, and during our..courtship..I sought power. not for it's own sake, but to become so powerful as to topple the god and take his throne."
A small smirk.
"Though I don't doubt it burns him up to think that I foudn love in Piper. and I woudl not be surprised if he was just wiating for a moment to smite us both."

"Hm, well when you put it that way...indeed you do. Though perhaps a little disheartening that you're all too fully aware of what this union between you to can and will do to others' minds." Well Malik had thought that out more than once before, now hadn't he?
"I remember that discussion...was right before the whole wanderlust passionate babbling on my part." A laugh from Piper and a nod to Malik. "You can get quite the equally passionate argument back from him when you really peak his interest." Now though, Malik rarely talked about that ambition, but perhaps that was because he was too busy trying to keep her from maiming herself in the Underdark...who knew now. That was a little disturbing. Yet at the same time it wasn't...Malik already talked of how distant his God was now, and had even given up a very useful gift from said God. Never could tell with him.
A smile from Kieran. "It's always the quiet ones that have the most interesting things to say, I find." Then a slight laugh and a nod to Piper. "Can't let you go anywhere can I? Always making someone mad and laughing at the supposed consequences." Though he liked that trait in his daughter. Atteniton back to Malik. "And when that day comes Malik?" What was Kieran's fascination with hypothetical questions anyway?

"When that day comes...I'll defend Piper. I will face Innorruk, and I will fall, more than likely. I'll be taken back to Hate, and made to suffer. Nightmare will be taken from me, my House lie in ruin, and Piper left alone with nothing but you and Fianna. Perhaps she'll hate him for it, and he'll take pride in that. But I'll spend my enterity in suffering and pain for my defiance, for my arrogance, for my ambition to take his place, I'm sure."
Malik shrugged lightly.
"Or maybe, what myself and piper have, ti defiance against all odds of such a thing, will draw the attention of other dieties. Erollisi Marr, perhaps, and her twin, Mithaniel. maybe even Tunare, thinking that one of those twisted Tier'dal was trying to reclaim a former glory, and come to my aid. who knows. but I do know it will be swift, and it will be absolute."

Again it was one of those things that he had to be thinking on in his spare time when her was left alone with just his thoughts...and the thoughts that did cross his mind were something in themselves. "Or rather than hate him, he can get to know the vengeful ways of a truly angered elf." Okay she'd admit it...she thought on it too sometimes. For some reason she always saw herself seeking to reclaim what was hers, even if it was a god she was facing. Bonds and feelings drove one to do spectacular things. That was Piper for you.
Kieran shook his head lightly. All so interesting answers and ones that were to no one definite side. The best and worse case scenarios both presented and neither being hoped for, merely waited for if they ever came to pass in the first place. Double thinking, how wonderful. His eyes flitted to his daughter. "That dive head first into danger eyes closed trait in you may in some situations prove useful...who knew."
"Have to have someone around who doesn't plan all the time...some things just call for spontaneity."

"Everything can be planned. and planning is the hard part."
A slight chuckle at Piper.
"But, I would be impressed to see you go to Hate for me. You have no idea what that place is like. neriak is wide open compared to hate, it's very clastrophobic..filled with teh souls of fallen Tier'dal, liches, skeletal beings, nightmares..the dracholich, wights..all manner of undead. and the Maestro."
A glance at Kieran.
"Though I am curious. many of the planes aroudn norrath to our dieties..we can go to them. though of course many are not exactly mortal friendly. What about you? Can you visit the pantheon you worship?"

"And sometimes planning is overrated." Then a blink at Malik ending in a smug little smile from her as she brushed back red and silver, letting it fall as it may. "You think all that would keep me away from you? I told you, you're stuck with me now and no one's taking you from me, peasant or god alike. I've already foiled a king's plan...why not try for something harder, eh? To death and beyond, hell and back, at this moment and forever." That stubbornness paid off sometimes. Another smile to his and she kissed his cheek, leaning against his arm which she still had hold to.
Kieran looked partially amused and he shook his head lightly. It really was endearing, watching these two. And to think, they had a lot on their plate just being in the relationship, let alone other things to come that weren't so predictable. He crossed his arms lightly, looking back up to Malik. "There are tales of elves on our plane who have seen the Gods in person. But...if there is a direct link to them, then I myself and not aware of it, and no one talks of it. Most of our Gods are connected through avatars and teachings. Though I don't doubt they're there...I've seen my fair share of miracles as the simple asking in a prayer." Oh look...another free time information dig project for boring moments at home.
