The teacher paused and looked around "My my, we have an awful lot of students coming to class today. I suppose it's the upcoming ball. Just an announcement: Without passing grades, you won't be able to attend any of the school's functions. With this being said, you can't just expect to pull your grades up in time for the fun stuff. You must maintain passing grades." Kyo raised his hand. "Yes Mr. August." "Advanced Placement students in the council will be tutoring after school." he said in a low voice, hopping most of the students ignored him. "Excellent, I expect anyone with a less perfect grade to show. Anyways, note that we made use of this result when discussing the function after Ex 1.9. And of course you remember the usual ``completing the square'' trick: ax2 + bx + c = a$displaystyle left(vphantom{ x^2 + frac{b}{a}x + frac{b^2}{4a^2}}right.$x2 + $displaystyle {frac{{b}}{{a}}}$x + $displaystyle {frac{{b^2}}{{4a^2}}}$$displaystyle left.vphantom{ x^2 + frac{b}{a}x + frac{b^2}{4a^2}}right)$ + c - $displaystyle {frac{{b^2}}{{4a}}}$ = a$displaystyle left(vphantom{x + frac{b}{2a}}right.$x + $displaystyle {frac{{b}}{{2a}}}$$displaystyle left.vphantom{x + frac{b}{2a}}right)^{2}_{}$ + $displaystyle left(vphantom{c - frac{b^2}{4a}}right.$c - $displaystyle {frac{{b^2}}{{4a}}}$$displaystyle left.vphantom{c - frac{b^2}{4a}}right)$. Nimia glanced at Kyo who was, truthfully, not that far off. She whispered to Skylar again, "I'm really beginning to hate this. I wouldn't be here if we didn't have to have passing grades to attend the ball."

The teacher smiled at Skylar "We're discussing The Binomial Theorem and other Algebra. I don't know how to make it anymore black and white dear. Perhaps you should get after school tutoring." He looked at Kyo who lowered his head and shifted his eyes.

"See me after class, it's no wonder you're failing." Nimia looked down and sank in her seat. "Yes, sir," she mumbled.
