Yeah, I definitely think the community bonds are what makes zOMG! important to anyone. Otherwise it'd just be another game out of millions.

Jedi Sasquatch That's... really weird. Why are people so devoted to this game? It's not really all that weird actually. People care about the game. Why are they devoted? Well, why is anyone ever devoted to anything? Because it's something they like, and want to see more of. Many of the users that play zOMG have made many friends from it, and in the case of those that were here from the beginning maybe they want to see a game completed from start to finish. Everyone chooses what matters, what to spend their time on. For those that chose zOMG it would now be important to continue supporting it, because now at this point the game means something to them.

Indirect links. I came to be here because I was friends with foam, and he joined so I thought, "might as well".

The thing that confuses me though is that when compared to other free MMOs, zOMG is very mediocre. I don't get why it has all these devoted fans when those people could find much better games for no cost.

Better to you isn't the same as better to someone else. Not to mention people have friends here to play zOMG with.

I haven't played any other MMO's so I don't think I can really answer that question. On the other hand I've talked to many people that have played other MMO's, and it sounds like they're VERY time consuming. My Aunt and Uncle have been playing this one MMO for years. Looking at it that way I don't think I'd want to play other MMO's. I like zOMG for the fact that it takes time to complete, but not a ton of time. And then after you just hang out and play, there's not really the feel that you need to keep playing to get better. Way more casual, and therefore more fun. At least that's the way I see it *shrugs*

Divine intervention then. No, not really.
Let me use an example to illustrate my point. Let's say that a woman gets bit by a rabid dog, and then when she gets sent to the hospital she and a doctor fall in love and get married and spend the rest of their lives happy and together. Does that woman owe anything to the dog? After all, if it weren't for that dog she wouldn't have met her future husband.

In your opinion. If you google "top browser mmo," you'll find that zOMG! is ranked pretty high up there. zOMG has something that other MMOs don't. Avatars with tens of thousands of items and hundreds of millions of ways to combine those items. Massive forums so when you want to take a break from the game, you can find something else to do. The fact that I can look however I want without it affecting my gameplay. I can kick EB's a** as a kitten star or a naked chick.

God bless that rabid dog. I'm with you though, I stopped caring about Zomg over a year ago.

But Gaia is definitely not the only MMO with a big forum.
