"Er." He had not thought of that. Running into Amarante's father, what exactly would it entail? Perhaps merely as a faceless civilian? If Amarante was with him though, then it should be fine. Right? He was not going to get pounced on for being so close to her, right? Ah, what was he thinking, being so judgemental again. "Too late? Too late for?" Did that mean he had to start carrying his weapons around for protection? But that staff was so bulky, even if it was effective. "I.... Okay, if he does appear, I'll surrender first." Like that would work, if the tome was anything to go by!

Hey, he was supposed to be an aid, not a burden, right down to the core. "If it's not at their convenience, or they have to give up things they like, then yes." But not like Amarante would change that, as she had said time and time again. Oh well, so strange. Good thing or bad thing? He had still yet to decide, but somehow he felt that she had already settled for 'good thing' and was probably never going to budge. Oh, Amarante.

So who in their right mind would call a socially-inept pseudo-human cute again? Err.... Actually, scratch that. That was going to be yet another aspect of both her and Marie that he was never going to understand, was he. Ah, she was waking? No, phew. Well, since their mistress was asleep, dare he post that question to her pets instead? "Why? Did she ever tell you why she thinks so?" Assuming they understood that portion, but then again he'd seen his share of emotive mechanical beings in that place already.

Broadcasted voice as cheerful as ever, Bon didn't hesitate to elaborate. "Mr. Iske is not someone that is met by chance." What was the right word to describe such a man, though? "He is... calculated? Is that right? Yes." That'd have to do. A look of acceptance settled into her little cat face, lidding those overly-round eyes over for a moment. "If he appears, odds are preparations have already been made to that end." But even having said that, her eyes were back to being fully open as a reaction to his resignation. "But 'surrender'? Why?" To her the book description may have been as it was, but he was neglecting to take something else into consideration. "You have someone perfectly capable of turning him away forever on your side, don't you?" Who was to say what sort of match a terrifying man's daughter was to the man himself? Maybe they hadn't enough luck to avoid such a situation. But what was one more threat in the many they'd already collected?

Was it okay for Sen to say it? Surely this guy already understood... didn't he? Might as well do it anyway. "It probably goes without saying, but it seems that she likes you more." It was almost as if that was a completely obvious fact about the situation that was plain to everyone but him. Though what the man understood as things she liked wasn't always the case. "Easing her out of a bad habit or two isn't necessarily a bad thing, I would think." Maybe it'd just take him a long while to accept that he'd had a positive affect upon a life just by being himself. He seemed to be becoming accustomed to her presence, anyway, being that she was still very much latched to his back without him paying much mind to it at all. And her lacking the consciousness to do anything about it! It was just as well. He probably didn't need multiple freezeovers in one day.

While Dai didn't have the information Erhard was seeking, she had to ask one thing at least. "Mm. Is there something wrong with her appreciating you as you are?" He was getting all sorts of unintentional life lessons from cats. It wasn't merely an evasive tactic though but also the truth of the matter. "We aren't really witness to that side of her. All there is, is that even if she can be quiet when she's by herself... she looks like she feels less alone?" Perhaps it'd be difficult to imagine that side of her. It was a side of her he hadn't seen much if at all, had he? He wouldn't have much time to think that over, though, as more troublesome thoughts were about to be brought up. "She's someone that was alone for a long time, isn't she? How about you?" Seemed the youngest of the cats was more willing to meddle than the others, though it was unlikely that it was intentional.

So if the both of them ever ran into him, they were doomed? Is that was she was trying to say? Maybe he should quit being so pessimistic. "I thought... I suppose so. Sorry, I assumed their relationship to be something different." Too much time spent around Marie, he was losing track. "But if it takes that much effort, then the only time he'll appear is for something really important, wouldn't it?" So he should not need to worry so much, right?

"... It was because of my nagging, wasn't it." Of course it was, what else could it have been? Somehow, he felt a little uneasy that it was too easy to rid her of a habit. It was a good thing, yes, perhaps too good. But hang on, what did Sen say earlier? Something about her purpose. What that a side effect? Simply changing to the whims of people? That... was harsh. His free hand ended up latching itself to one of hers involuntarily, be it worry or protectiveness he did not know. ".... If there's anything that she doesn't want to change or if I overstep her boundaries, please do let me know." Still not getting that it should be the other way around, then. Making promises to try not to freeze the both of them together for aliens to dissect was working out relatively well however, so maybe she could give him a few more orders anyway.

"N-No! That's not what I meant." But it was, and once again he failed to take into consideration that Amarante probably knew just how hard it was to be a non-human. Great, now it was her pet that was turning him red. Was there no relief from this blush? Irrational things, but the cat had a point. ".... Guess not then." But who said it would be an easy thing to accept when that stupid self-esteem was shaky at best?

Dare he? Dare he not? What else was new? "Technically speaking, yes. Alone as well. But it can't be compared to her, now can it?" Surely a decade to her would be like the blink of an eye. Didn't make it any less unbearable of course, but well. Stroke her hair again, go on, might as well cherish the few hours they had.

Speaking of hours. Uh oh. Surely there was a clock somewhere, or did she leave that out of the furnishing to minimize times like this? But his pager had not already electrocuted him, so maybe there was still time. Relax. Not like any of them were in a hurry.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 24, 2015 2:58 am

And still he was met with another mostly blank stare. "Mm. Things can turn ugly when the child comes at a cost of one's beloved wife, I suppose." Horrific as it was, to Bon and really anyone that knew of it, it was just the reality of the situation that had been so for thousands of years. From the ugly start, to the uncomfortable present, to the foreseeable future. Though what followed surely couldn't have been assuring to hear. "Oh, no, nothing like that. He seems like a person that's incredibly efficient with his time and efforts, is all!" Whatever issues could arise with the likes of Iske, maybe he was just biding his time just like every other threat that lurked just out of sight. Better to be aware of it than not, one'd suppose.

Sen wasn't sure of just how much he could assure Erhard, but felt the need to try. "Maybe. Though that biggest change, she definitely decided for herself." That much seemed incredibly obvious to Sen, anyway, knowing how Amarante was when her mind was set on something. "If anything meant a lot to her I'd think she'd protest, too." Things she did to pass the unending moments of her life were not always necessarily that involved. If something she did to make herself less bored made him unhappy, exactly what worth did it have? And while she hadn't been privy to or awakened by anything that had been said previously, consciousness started to stir within her finger tips. The hand that had been touched by his had surely been unsuccessful in its attempt to grasp on to him, but that she had reacted at all indicated that she was waking up. She seemed unwilling to give up her comfortable station, though, eye remaining shut for a while. What hurry was there when there were all sorts of affectionate touches involved?

"Oh, he is cute! I totally get it!" Too bad two pips of blue light within a digital panel weren't as effective at expressing emotions as actual eyes would be; the same unwavering glow despite what the situation might be. The animated quality to her voice likely more than made up for that shortcoming, though. And despite the lack of consideration in Dai's words, in general she just seemed to be very enthused about the situation. "I'm very glad to have met you! Really!" Rather than any indication of exasperation, there was only a quiet laugh from the likes of Sen. She could probably do with some semblance of manners, but the way she was lacking any sort of inhibition that cynicism eventually brought along with it was something he found unnecessary to lay waste to.

The nervous hand tensing as a result of the previous conversation made it clear that his companion was no longer asleep. Just as well, since a handful of constructs with sheltered lives weren't up for tackling the subject in question anyhow. "What makes your suffering not comparable? Or any less?" The question posed was far from being asked in either a patronizing or scolding fashion; merely sleepy and gentle. "A half of one's life, most of one's life~ The same no matter how many years that happens to be." She was greatly downplaying that she'd been sealed into an underground cave for over half a millennium. But as far as she was concerned, with what she had presently, what did it really matter? "We don't have to be alone anymore, right? We have each other, but... we have lots of other people now, too." Both affirming their status to each other, whatever that happened to be, and not falling to prey to letting her affection for him conveniently erase everyone around them, either. Still very much wanting a certain consideration from him but not being entirely unreasonable about it.

"Ah, if only you could stay for always~" There was the flighty selfishness that he was likely used to hearing by now. Seemed to have been presented as an affectionate exaggeration, though, as she didn't hesitate to ease off any doubt that might start to form as a result of what she'd said. "Heh. The actuality of that would be no good, though, as there are others in need of you as well." No doubt he'd be unhappy to be kept around just because, and she'd be unhappy to be the one that caused such a situation in the first place. But even if her priorities were in check, naturally she'd feel the need to stubbornly defend her own uses of his time too. "Though my own need is still valid as well, no matter how lacking in urgency or outside of your expertise it is." To her he was a good fit, no questions asked. The best fit as far as she was concerned, no matter how poorly prepared he was for the role he ended up filling for her. Well. He seemed to finally be able to take it in stride, at least!

".... Oops. Um, were we too loud?" So much for a relaxing nap, was it? But what she said was true after all, there was that part of him that would lock himself in here, away from all the worries and stress and danger outside, but there was that incessant nagging that he should be helping others too. And besides, getting locked up again should be the last thing anyone wanted, even if it was going to be with someone else, but... it had its perks. Like safety. Or untouchability. Of course, he knew by now that the untouchability was merely an illusion, or he would still be sitting alone, away, maybe dreaming all this up. "And I thought I was the medic, Ama," he sighed, patting her head. Hey, can't deny either that she was also a form of aid, right? Right? Like how he dared to even touch her or let himself be touched by her, even if it was just a few moments ago that she requested for him to try not to freeze up about it. Obvious enemies aside, of course, but.... Was there something that seemed, oh, off about that?

Strange kitty. So strange. A point that even an automaton cat can get and he still can't, what was this 'point'? Sure, the blank look didn't help much, neither did the pleadingly helpless look he gave to Sen, probably. Nope, still will probably never understand.

Long since distracted from studying, but now was as good as a time as ever, since she was awake. "Say, Ama? About the monster bees in the tome, are they what you use in your coffee plantation?" For curiosity, as well as assumption. Definitely not because someone was nagging to take a look at one of them, live and buzzing away in their work. Totally not. And besides, he could also ask about - wait, was it too sensitive a topic? Surely he had to listen to Bon's implicit warning. Maybe when she was feeling up to it, she'll tell him.

With a playful tilt of her head, Amarante reminded Erhard of just how the scene had opened earlier. "You saw what it was like when you walked in here, didn't you?" Utter chaos not befitting a library in the least. "I sleep through that and more all the time~" Said so simply and confidently. She wasn't necessarily a heavy sleeper but becoming accustomed to so much noise so often was a feat in itself. Though sleeping habits were certainly different from any other habits outside of her nature she might've picked up. Regardless of how the observation was meant it came off and was interpreted as entirely too complimentary. "I'm no doctor, but..." No use in trying to hide her face as it grew more and more red. She'd still try if she could. "I'm... I'm all right when it comes to administering an injection or med spray, at least." Limited in usefulness when it came to his line of work, but still timidly volunteering the meager skills her costumes could provide her. So tender, so demure! It'd be a difficult sell, if he tried to convince most anyone else that the side of her he was often privy to in fact existed.

Finally wriggling free of the blanket, Patches joined the rest of the rabbits that had closed in upon them on the floor. With a lack of fun, wriggly minions to chase and an enforced level of calm in place both cats and rabbits were behaving. And with the afternoon fading away a certain sleepiness had begun to settle in as well. So much calm, and not a single natural lifeform in the room!

The coffee farm was a subject that Amarante was quite enthusiastic about. Eye bright and smile warm, she was happy to answer. "Mm~ Coffee pollination, yes!" It was a little unusual that a cafe owner would supply her own beans, but fully utilizing her resources was something that came naturally to her. "But, originally and still they provide the most intriguing sort of honey as well." Being that the coffee plants were her own as well every resulting product was definitely far from ordinary. And apparently entertaining, as she finally stopped biting back some laughter. "Did you know that bees get caffeinated from the flowers? It can be quite funny." Big buzzy bees crawling and flying around while buzzed on caffeine. Of course it was funny! The entertainment to be found was limited, though, with what was involved with her motivation over the whole matter. "The hive was originally Mother's, so..." While there was some uncertainty found in her voice, the tone was calm but went along with a quiet confidence. "I'm happy to look after it and continue finding more uses for it." Living there was impossible, for a myriad of reasons both her own and out of her grasp, but it seemed she'd be forever unwilling to cut ties completely with that place and what it meant to her.

Was his kind of dense rubbing off on her as well? Oh, it was not like he would notice anyway. "Are you still tired, then? Please, don't let us wake you." Somehow, letting her go back to her dream was preferable? She did not just wake up from a nightmare, right? So her dream therefore had to be a relatively nice one. Which would be nice to return to, therefore. Convoluted logic leaps aside. "That's good, so if anything happens I can trust you with the needles or the spray canisters, right?" Not teasing her! And someone might get mad if she started tagging along with him as a first-aid assistant. Entertained anyway, even if there was a sore lack of expression to go with it.

"Caffeinated honey?" Yeah, and already he was getting ideas. Maybe he could switch to eating that and hasten the onset of pseudo-diabetes while he was at it. The thought of buzz-happy bees pollinating coffee plants, however, hmm. Would that be the same as caffeine somehow getting into tomatoes, that would eradicate the need for coffee altogether and - ahey! "Your mother ran the hive? What did she use it for?" Maybe if he had read the tome before meeting Amarante, it would have been a lot harder to disguise the surprise in his tone. A lady of war with a hive full of honey? Whatever for? To poison her enemies with?

Nevertheless, it was not like it was a wasted afternoon. Quite a bit of new notes to start perusing through, collating, whacking people over the head with, so on and so forth. Maybe he should make this a regular thing. If he could convince someone to let him have time off to pop in every now and then. Was a productive session, right?

She'd pull at his face or at his ears if not for the likelihood of either of those actions shattering the whole of his face. An annoyed tone would have to do and would likely do just as well anyway! "Aa~ I can and do sleep any time, really." And then came the pouting! "I was just trying to stay out of the way, for once." Something that just seemed to be beyond possibility in her waking moments. Interfering and taking up his time was just something she did, right? And it seemed she realized as much, resigned sigh showing she was more irritated with herself than anything. She perked up at his assurance, though, happy to be considered of some use. "Well, that is... my experience is in the field, anyway, so I don't feel the need to insert myself into a hospital, or anything." Those scary, creepy hospitals. Both respecting his profession and avoiding spooky places at the same time!

As entertaining as the thought was, it seemed rather unlikely. "Heh. Somehow I do not think that it works that way." And oh, a question that delved into things more deeply than he'd likely intended. "Synthetic royalty tends to be given a plot of land and a trade, in order to be seen as 'useful.' Aside from that..." A pain had settled in to the pit of her stomach. It was unpleasant to speak of, but had to be said. "I've no idea. Most of the records in regards to her seem to always have been missing." Circumstances made it impossible to know much about Erlea as a whole. Dead from the start and practically erased in the years that followed, much to the horror of those left behind. She tried to apply her usual humor to it, but it just ended up rather flat. "Heh. Maybe they would've done the same to me, seeing as all I've done." Surely Erlea hadn't been that bad, right? Whoever had done it had done well covering their tracks, as not even an indication of why could really be discerned. Hardly a great subject to be touched upon just because, but she couldn't help it. The possibilities of just how much would be different had Erlea lived were dizzying. And being pressed against that strange and cold little doctor left her feeling both vulnerable and safe. It was too easy for practically anything to come up without much problem. Great for Erhard's information collecting. Probably not the greatest for his emotional capacity, though. Better some good than all bad, though?

((internet ded before I finished last night ;v; ))

Was that supposed to reassure him that she won't be popping into the hospital unannounced again? Well, it was good enough. "What do you mean, for once?" he asked, plainly confused. "It's not like you're an annoyance, are you? Unlike other things, for instance." Perpetual annoyances aside, of course. And don't deny that seeing her around was not a good thing! Better than having to deal with everything else.
Hey, a little over the top escapism there. Come back down to earth!

Aww, shot down! Looks like it was back to cake and coffee, then. "... Royalty isn't considered useful without a trade? That's a strange system." Maybe something from ancient times, then. Whatever happened to his history studies? But now he was not sure what to be unsettled about, the fact that there were hardly any records remaining or Amarante could very well disappear from written existence as well. All the more to cling onto those notes, cling onto the seconds he had with her, right? "... But you'd still be around, wouldn't you? Better you than notes any day."
PostPosted: Wed Apr 29, 2015 7:05 am

(( That's all right! :V ))

And one dose of confusion was met with another, as the grey eye that stared at him did so with bewilderment. While her wording regarding herself had been deliberately negative it certainly wasn't meant to provoke any sort of response. Just poor self esteem and lingering doubts. Perhaps it would be best for the two that thought so little of themselves to get accustomed to the other's support in spite of any long-held self disparaging beliefs. She couldn't joke so easily about her poor perception of her own mortality anymore and she couldn't be an annoyance either! She ended up smiling to herself without really realizing it. Hardly a bad quality to have taken on at all. And while she hadn't received the solid assurance that others would likely demand out of him in such a situation, she was all right with that. As far as she was concerned he himself needed to be assured over many a matter, and who could be better suited for the task than herself? No one, naturally! And with that oddly sunny nature of hers she was happy to try to show him just that. "Mm! I mean well, surely. Even if..." Some hesitation persisted, though her cheerfulness did as well. "Even if there's selfishness involved with that." Well, inserting herself into his life was unlikely to have been convenient or anything. But she still steadfastly refused to view the situation as wholly bad.

As much as Amarante resented the situation she'd been born into, she found it rather simple to understand. How to explain it better? Perhaps a simplification of the concept would benefit her. "Anything that's manufactured tends to be done with a purpose in mind, doesn't it?" Hardly put in such a manner that was complimentary to herself, but likely more than enough truth in it. With a sigh she expressed her own disappointment in everything that had gone missing or been destroyed. "How sad, to be involved in more than one history that others have seen fit to destroy." Both her family and the first civilization of humans she'd known had fallen to that same carelessness. Though she herself, due to circumstances of her own creation, was unlikely to suffer the same fate. "That is... heh." It was probably nervous laughter, being that imprisonment and the torture that had followed weren't exactly hilarious. "Well, the records of the other side wouldn't be so easily tampered with, surely." And while being considered better than notes wasn't likely to be considered high flattery by most... well, he valued things like notes and research pretty highly didn't he? It was a nice thing, regardless of just how it'd been meant. "I'll endeavor to continue existing outside of those records, surely." A rather odd way of phrasing it, but combined with the warm way in which she'd said it hopefully he'd be able to understand well enough.

A certain sort of dismay soon showed up upon her face. "I suppose that any time now, this particular term of borrowing you shall end." A blunt way of putting it, to be sure, but not entirely untrue. It was something she was reluctant about as ever, though, almost seeming like she was trying to ignore it by hiding her face under the blanket. It didn't work! With a resigned sigh she reappeared, offering her assistance with the matter at hand. "I can send you straight to your room, if you'd like, unless you absolutely need to check in out front or something." And what would some helpfulness be without some unnecessarily and airily-stated capriciousness? "I could send you straight to bed, had I seen that~" Wait, he was going to get the wrong idea from that. Totally the wrong idea, her abusing her ability to show up there herself and how nice that'd be even if cold and no. "...Don't get any funny ideas, from that. I'm not... I'm not desperate." Then why was it such a struggle to say so? Couldn't be the numerous times she'd managed to show up in his domicile without a stitch of clothing on, could it? Nah.

"I still don't get it." Maybe explaining things to this particular fellow with a head as dense as ice was not such a bad idea... Or it might be, thanks to double the complications! Funny, for someone supposedly once human, there seemed to be a complete lack in human-ness in all the areas that makes someone human?

Contrary, contrary! "And what about things that are made on a whim or made for no reason?" Him and his exceptions. That was a rhetorical question. But was that why the recorded tomes were labeled as 'inaccurate' earlier? Suppose that was something to be learned as an immortal as compared to a short-lifespan organism, one would have easily put together that history was only written by the winners, and no one would ever be the wiser, even if they happened to be humans, demons or entities. "P-Please do. If you can. I... Um." Stammer. What had he meant to say? It got caught somewhere. Oh well. Must not have been important, right?

Already? Can he stay? Wouldn't the warden come after the both of them if he overstayed? Wouldn't the entire staff roster barge in if he overstayed? On second thought. Oh well, good things have to come to an end sometime! Even if he didn't really want them to. "...... I'll need to sign myself back in for them to keep track. Procedures and whatnot, you understand." Just don't think about her having access to his room without the warden's prior knowledge. And feel glad for the poor fellow that she had probably not realized that the concrete slab was in fact his bed. He had enough stuff to deal with, let alone one more teleporter who would go where she wanted to and a something she clearly wanted was in that room. "Okay then, no funny ideas." But wouldn't it be funny to set her as a trap for food thieves? He had better stick to his words, no funny ideas! No funny ideas, no funny ideas.... Food thieves though.
PostPosted: Sat May 02, 2015 4:04 am

The relative safety she found in sitting together so closely and likely around as alone as they could get made it somewhat easier for Amarante to express the uncertainty that'd resulted from pursuing his company in spite of opposition. "Well. Your life would be lacking a few complications if I didn't insist, I mean." A soft tap upon the side of his back was in fact her face making contact. Maybe he was already well aware of the subject of the accompanying hesitant and muffled words, but further clarification was unlikely to hurt. "It is... it's selfish, to make a decision upon one's own desires with little thought towards the consequences." That sad admission out of the way she struggled to assume a seat by his side, eager to assure him that to her there was far more good than bad about the situation. "But I won't run away, or abandon you for anything, so. There is that." He wouldn't mind if her head ended up leaning against the side of his arm for a bit, right? Just a bit of momentary comfort as she affirmed her resolution for him once again. "And when it comes to the matter of what may await me myself as a result of my decisions, I have no regrets." Being resolute didn't mean being infallible, though, as she admitted just that with a sigh. "That worry tends to be unavoidable though, as you know." No need to attempt to assuage that worry away. Worry and caring went hand in hand, after all!

The suddenly flushed face indicated she had her own ideas about creations made from whims or without reason. "That is..." The unnatural snickering of the nearby cats wasn't helping. Neither was the conspicuous presence of the rabbits, though they did nothing in particular to unnerve her other than exist. Procreation was the type of creation that came most naturally to humanoids, wasn't it? Best to claw herself out of that gutter before sinking in too deeply though, as he likely hadn't the slightest related idea rattling around in his head before he'd asked. Clearing her throat was unlikely to help matters but in her mind it made a world of a difference! Now to mutter a somewhat relevant statement to seal the deal. "Everything has a way of settling in eventually, I think, even if a proper place or purpose hasn't been designated for it." Her silliness aside, assuring him that she'd take care of herself was of the utmost importance to her. "To the best of my ability. I promise." The head leaning against his arm turned and became a face mashed against it instead. A little strange, but nothing too out of the ordinary. And maybe he'd gotten used to her cat-like affections by now.

Once removed from his person, the head tilted to the side thoughtfully in observation of his explanation. "Mm. In a way." Someone that'd only seen her way out of an institution unconscious, mutilated, and wheeled out upon a stretcher couldn't understand completely. But enough, anyway. And curse her level of responsibility and what appeared to be some semblance of maturity! "As nice as it would be to pop in every now and then..." So many things! So many different ways to be distracting! And there was the ruddy quality to her face again. Just what sappy or dirty sorts of things could be accomplished with portals? "While it might be futile to second guess our every step... safety. Responsibility. Yes." Her paranoia had eased off, but there was no need to be reckless with something she considered so important. And with that, she took the initiative to guarantee their next meeting. "Did you want to meet here next? Or the cafe?" His lack of communicative technology was an inconvenience that hardly seemed to bother her at all. An overwhelming will certainly seemed to have its way about getting things done. "To start, anyway. I'm going to find such a nice amusement park~ You'll see! Ah, I can hardly wait." No nervousness to be found about the romantic overtone of the meeting. Just excitement. Following the traditional pattern for romance would hardly be fun for either of them. Best to do it their own way. So much to do and hopefully so little to worry over.

Psh, simple? Since when had anything been simple? Well, okay. Maybe there was only one thing he could think of that was worsened by her presence. But it was not really important now, was it? ".... If it's that you're going on about, never mind about it. There's always something to be mad at. It's normal." As normal as it got, then. "Never mind about that."

"I see. That's a good enough answer." Somehow, he was satisfied with it. Never mind the unintended reference to the rabbits! "Then in that case, for something created that doesn't fit its purpose, surely it can find another purpose to fulfill adequately, correct?" Whoa there, someone's getting all philosophical. Not his forte, not his field. Get back to fretting over the small stuff already!

The date! He'd promised. And he still had no idea what to wear. What did she say about overdressing again? Oh yes, she had laughed. Was not at him, as said, but? What did people wear to an amusement park anyway? Hmm...

Say, think for a moment. Why was he so okay with going on a social activity with her? Idiocy aside, of course. But wasn't there something that could happen? Something like oh, maybe the ferris wheel collapsing or a fatal accident on the roller coaster? Or worse? And why had he not thought about those until now? "I.... Er.... The cafe then. Even if your house can defend itself, I don't think anyone staying in it would appreciate the prospect of their home turf being vulnerable to attacks." From who? Either side could pull it off. The fallout would be horrible if anything else happened at the cafe too.

Strange. Normally he would have panicked and armed himself to the teeth and sat and waited for something to happen. Blame that paranoia, but that same paranoia grew on everyone who had to deal with those kinds of situations, but nope. Actually, it was not even him that had to do the worrying outside of the hospital.

Ah. This was what the robot meant by 'reset', wasn't it. Retirement. This peace was so alien.

The urging in the grey eye fixed upon him eventually relented to his assurance, head dipping some as her fixated gaze was broken. "I'd prefer to not be the focus of that anger, myself." Even if fury suited his fine features well. No! Better to enjoy it when it struck out at someone else. But still. Both so insistent in their own ways about altering each other's daily life as little as possible, despite some things being decidedly changed by their meeting already. But since the whole of the matter had finally been expressed to him, continuing to hold on to her fears would likely seem both paranoid and disrespectful of his wishes. With a low hum rising from her throat, she'd come to a decision. "Any changes I've made due to your influence have been of my own accord. Even if the occasional scolding was involved." She looked to be amused and yet a little shamed simultaneously. What fun and yet how unfamiliar, to be cared for. "And anything that has changed whether I wished it or not, I've accepted as part of my reality all the same. I hope... I hope that your feelings are not terribly dissimilar from that." Hoping for the same happiness she'd found in the situation seemed like a bit much. And forcing her own feelings upon him more than she'd done already seemed all the more foolish and unwise. He was perfectly fine, however he wanted to be! She remained adamant in her fierce protectiveness towards him.

Though somehow, his question had ended up amusing her greatly. "Hah! Su~re~ly." With an entertained sigh she elaborated. "Ah~ It sounds so simple, when living through it is anything but." Having her arduous life summed up so simply didn't seem to trouble her, though, as she smiled peacefully all the while. "Idly fulfilling my purpose to rule and destroy might've been enough for someone else." Whether reflexively or due to some lingering sleepiness she ended up rubbing at the area outside of her eye some. "Even the illusion of freedom is so costly~ But being able to choose my own role was worth the tradeoff of being marked, I think." There might've been a slew of related regrets, but it was hardly something she wanted to get into right there and then.

The other half of the conversation could hardly be bothered by the many ideas of danger that loomed over them, too caught up in her own excitement. "It's a date! Though, it was already~" The pleasure she took out of her own realization was obvious. Rather than any smugness that might've been expected there was only dreaminess instead. Despite being an often fanciful sort of person, she never seemed to see him as anything other than what he was. Well. As far as she knew, anyway. A strange, dangerous doctor that she'd happened to take a liking to. Anyone else just wouldn't do. The role he filled for her was his and his alone. But was it too preposterous of an idea, for a connection to exist between two so reviled and uneven in morals? With one so rough and the other so aloof, too. Though as far as she was concerned facts like that only enforced the solidarity between them, as two outcasts struggling to survive that sought comfort in each other. Just how much his practical self would agree with her sappy vision was uncertain, but it wasn't as if he had to do much to make her happy anyway. Indulgent thoughts still heavily upon her mind, she offered him further assistance while somehow keeping her distractions to herself. "I'm in no hurry to see you go, but I can still help you along your way if you like." Showing enough responsibility to be considered respectful, yet still maintaining her considerable irresponsibility. Some progress yet no progress at all!

Oops. More misunderstanding! But it did make sense, did it not? Now, how else could he drop his full rage on Amarante outside of the usual chiding and nagging? Nope, she was not at that level yet. Actually, no one was. Hm. "Nope. I suppose that's reassurance. Okay then, you know what's best for yourself, so I'll leave you to it." Treat her like an adult for once, and remember that she has the maturity to deal with such things. What use was being immortal if one had not learned that, eh?

"Then we'd both work through it." Yes yes. Hey, didn't he mean 'she' would work through it? Not his problem, right? He had his own problems to deal wi - stop. He was aid, therefore he can help her with that. Might as well, seeing as there's no other kind of aid to be provided presently. Can he stop helping? "Time isn't not on your side, is it? Surely there's been some progress about that, no matter how small."

Looking at her so happy about it, should he really worry? That cheeriness was infectious. Maybe he really had nothing to worry about, and even if anything happened, it wouldn't go full-scale, right? He couldn't be that unlucky.

Ah, right. Better pick up his folder, cups and tray, he might as well help her in cleaning if she was going to have to scrub the place up and down later. :It's alright, I can see myself out. It's out, down the lift, through the storeroom and down the passageway, right?" Or he could just do what any normal person does and head for the house's exit and find his way home from there? Or let her work her portal magic and drop him straight into the hospital lobby, having already seen it once?
