The boy continued to itch and itch, molting more and more. After a bit of itching, he pushed another large pile of feathers out of the window to join the others. Maybe he'd go ask the nurses for some molting cream. This was insanity!!!

When the second pile of feathers came floating down, Maria ducked out from under them. This was insanity! Why were there feathers coming down from... She sighed. Yep, annoying raven kid was probably up there. So, she circled away from the tower, not wanting to bother with him again. She was so good at making enemies, yet horrible at making friends.

Alright, he gave up. The boy shoved the crate off the door, opening it. He was going to go to the infirmary and ask if they could do anything for this ungodly itching. He untied the bell rope before he left, closing the trapdoor behind him. The little molting raven went down to the hospital wing and tapped one of the nurses on the shoulder. Anya wasn't around so that was great for him. "Excuse me... Can you help me with this?" he asked, pointing to his molting wings. The boy hoped they could... This itching was torture.

The nurse turned and raised her eyebrows. But she'd been trained not to ask, considering how strange things could get at Mesilici. So, she took the boy and sat him down on a stool. "I should have some cream just for this," she said, flustered. Anya had been preoccupied and had therefore not been in the hospital wing for a while. After all, she was still recovering from dying...

The boy sat on the stool, watching the nurse. She seemed so flustered. He kind of felt bad for making her this way. But he needed this itching to stop. If it didn't stop, he might lose his mind, then lose what little control he had over the curse of his blood. The poor boy didn't want to kill anyone... Maybe he should leave Mesilici... After all, he was a horrible student, no one wanted to even be near him, and worst of all he was a ticking time bomb of mass murder. Maybe it would be for the best.... No one would miss him anyways.

The nurse hurried back with the molting cream, helped apply it on the boy's wings, before handing him the bottle. "I doubt we'll get anybody else in here asking for this, so go ahead and take it," she said, before rushing off to help a kid that had accidentally messed up a potion and received boils all over his face.
Maria wondered when Kuro was going to get back. She'd been a little lonely since he'd left with Madden, and she wondered if he'd start spending all his time with the girl. She was nice enough, but Maria had no other friends... And being a third wheel didn't sound fun.

The boy took the bottle, about to say he couldn't, but the nurse was already gone. He sighed and left the infirmary, tucking the bottle in his pocket. He was still occasionally shed some feathers as he walked, but he didn't seem to notice as he sulked off. Once in his room, he began to pack what little he owned. He wasn't needed here and he was a threat to everyone. He put what little clothes and trinkets he had into a backpack before putting the molting cream in there too. Once making sure he had everything, he put his backpack on and opened his door. He spared only one glance back, seeing the room had reverted to its original, simple state. The raven sighed and closed the door, heading towards the front double doors, leaving the castle.

It was as the boy left the front doors that Maria, who wasn't looking where she was going, ran right into him. She glanced up in surprise as she stumbled back on the steps, before narrowing her eyes. "Watch it!" she snapped before catching sight of his bag. "Where do you think you're going? You're not allowed to leave during the year."

The boy was about to apologize when he realized it was Maria. He snarled and huffed when she mentioned his bag. "I'll do what I please, soul girl!! I don't need your stupid school anyways! Now leave me alone!!" he said, pushing her away. He then ran from the castle into the wilderness that was the rest of the world. He didn't want to be there anymore.

Maria glared as he left. It wasn't fair that he could just leave the school and run away when she couldn't! Of course, now she had a family she didn't want to lose, but that didn't mean she liked being at Mesilici any more than she did when she was a soul stealer. So, she started to run after the boy. No way did he get to have freedom when she couldn't!

The boy continued to run from the school, rubbing his eyes some. They were shedding tears like crazy. He glanced back over his shoulder, seeing the girl following him. He growled softly and changed into a raven. But this was no ordinary raven. Instead of a regular sized bird, it was the size of a small horse. The ebony bird grabbed the backpack in its talons and flew off towards the mountains in the west. Where he hoped he could find shelter from the world.

Maria stopped and glared as the boy transformed into a raven and disappeared into the mountains. But she wouldn't be stopped. She was her mother's daughter, after all. She whistled and out of the dark came a pitch black horse. He had wild black eyes and was clearly a king of the wild, but he offered his back for Maria, and she climbed on. With speed that no normal horse could accomplish, he took off after the bird, catching up with its shadow soon enough.

The raven looked down, hearing the hooves below him. He cawed angrily and flapped harder. Of course that made his situation worse. He was still molting, and flapping those large wings of his made him molt faster. And he was losing his flight feathers just as fast. The raven soon veered off to a mountain cave he knew the horse wouldn't be able to get to. He was so close to the raven village. His hometown. Maybe they'd accept him back if they saw he was being chased. He landed on the cliff of the cave and called to the village on the next ridge, trying to request help before Maria caught up with him.

The horse stopped when they were just below the cliff that the boy had perched on. Maria thanked the horse, who whinnied and returned to his home. She then summoned another creature. This one was a giant eagle, who lived in a nest at the top of the mountain. The creature cawed angrily at the raven, knowing what village he came from, before allowing Maria to climb onto its back. She gently held his feathers as they circled up to the cliff.

The raven looked to the eagle who cawed at him so angrily. He shied away from the other avian creature, taking off again to get away from them. Though his flight was shaky, he managed to get to the village gates and turn back to human form. He pounded on the doors until the ravens inside answered. With one look, they knew the boy and what he really was. And yet an elder told them to take the poor thing in as the eagle's caw echoed into the valley then to the village's ridge. They didn't exactly like eagles. But they took the boy in and shut the gates, taking the little raven someplace where he could stay.
