Its not on you.
As I stated before, they're looking into where teh shards have gone, nothing more.
You are merely the one currently in possession of the shard, rather than the target which they are investigating.
edit: In fact, why are you asking this in the first place? Its not like they are on your tail or anything. They are just checking records of inventory, and tracking the purchase of one which you won off the gungan. He's about the only one who they talked to. Then, they just patch holes. No contact needed. Remember, Neb didn't even ask for bothan help. Hudson did, only (as to be found later) by simply hinting at the effort it would save, and the change of pace. Really, Nobody asked the bothans to spy in the first place, but Hudson is (another thing we shall find out later) the only person to get in and mess with Neb's head. Not to mention, probably the only one who can constantly play mind games with Neb, and in turn, not get caught in one.

I haven't read it yet. I don't care if you do, i guess.
Its just that I don't find you b/c of who you are, but of what you carry. hence why our discussion coming up will reflect certain aspects of why you're ********, in a sense.

soemthign totally non-sci-fi.
Actually, its medieval timeset (since I doubted anyone would do French-indian war and know about it).
Dragons have been hunted to extinction, and many of the mythical revalences have become what we know them as: myths.
But, due to the fact we are in less-than-educated times, people still think they exist. quite alot really.
So, one guy is set out in an attempt to find a dragon. He believes they exist, but little does he know that life really hates his dreams, and decides to crush them with quite a massive stomping.
But, his quest for a dream is only driving the person on. He follows the questing beast, (yes, stolen from the once and future king, AC) around, unknowingly finding others in such fell circumstance.
various others follow him, as they are burdened by the real life, such as the warfare between feudal lords, and (just a touch) magic coincidences, the group finds itself pitted against reality and fantasy, with often times the two switching off at the most inopertune times.
The main character has to abandon his quest countless times to keep himself alive.
LOTR meets Dragonheart meets deerslayer meets Kenshin, in summary.
