The difference between a main thread vs this guild are the following:

1. It's more public
- This means we're more exposed to people joining up, starting up their own stories or joining in on minor ones. The more mini-arcs, the better (to a degree), but the more major arcs should be few and far between as it's a main event made to bring everyone in. Would you bring a baby, a battle hardened teen or an average adult to war? Weird question, but it puts it in the right perspective. The teen has more to learn, has experience. The next would be the average person to join in, but a newborn...never unless you're sick in the head and use them as human bombs or worse.

2. Everything is condensed to one thread
- Again, brings people together. We simply had too many things happening back then, so this was made to make it easier to move through (plus it was a new feature). Taking it back puts everyone into a thread, making it seem popular, and what happens to things that seem popular? They get even more popular.

3. See #1, we need need a game plan to come back alive and it has to have an impact. We had a Hidden Branch to do outside ops, hit and be active in other places and make the GNA known as elite fighters. You guys are doing one good thing, from back then (which was an unspoken rule), by letting people in who still need improvement. We were here to teach as much as we were to enjoy and have fun with it. That was what made us great.

Overall, we can either make or break ourselves with it and on how it's managed. If we make the spaces in our system for people to become part of it, they will. If we are already whole, it's hard for someone to drill in.

Ah, what about a recruitment office?

Set it up in one of the Barton Town Mini forums, and make it a roleplay for the beginners, training them mainly in the martial arts so that they will have some sort of defense for when they are finally sent here. Once they've proven they can roleplay well enough, and are ready for more advanced story arcs, we send them the invite, and throw them into this dystopian GNA, completely out of their comfort zone?

It will take time, and dedication to set up, but if done properly, could pave the way to bringing our guild back up and running to what it once was.

just because something is popular doesn't make it better lol

I was here kinda(?) of near beginning of GNA; the problem wasn't that we weren't popular enough or we weren't public enough
the problem was you guys excluded anyone from joining in easily
it was buttbuddies first, new guys last in terms of RPing/getting included

no one could jump in/feel that they were apart of the story, you guys just did your own thing and ignored newcomers or didn't explain what was going on IC

I think what we're doing right now is good in terms of including new people, Ookamimaru wouldn't have stood a chance at joining in if we went back to the way things were in the old GNA, neither would anyone new coming in

With the new setting of the stories going on, anyone can come in and it would still make sense

I feel like staying small right now and letting people in who want to learn is the best, imo
(keyword, people who want to learn, not someone who wants to exert how cool their character is upon everyone else and puts on the charade that they're here to learn)

I'm just scared that all that advertising will change this guild into some massive narutoish mega-guild where people join in and leave as they please, causing people to roleplay next to each other instead of with each other. I've seen that a few times in those very popular guilds.

Tbh I joined this guild because it was small and moving at a reasonable pace.

Nar, sorry to say but you came nearer to the tail end of things so it was already shifting differently.

I'm not saying popular is better, I'm saying popular things get to become a buzz word which is what we need to get quality and quantity.

I'll admit, once we got settled down in here, things became hard to join in. Many times I found myself just wondering what to post to be part of something where half the guild had already gone out on a mission looking for someone.

Let's build on that, and ensure we have things for others to do during those times, aka mini-arcs.

And honestly? I kinda want to beat Seph and a few others for introducing this whole Naruto aspect to the guild. The concept was good, but we didn't need to bring in another universe into the Gaian universe. Yes, we tied to other ninja threads due to similar story types, but it wasn't to really become like them.

As for joining and leaving, that will happen regardless, but it's a valid point. There has to be some tie in to each other, which is where core members will need to come in and help tie those arcs together instead of leaving a string to snag and snare.

Fuji, it's a good idea and we did try that for awhile in the Gaia Guilds forum (failed horribly), but perhaps if it's in an actual RP forum it might be more viable and I do like the concept of training and keeping here more for the advanced persons. The problem is, how to control both so neither ends up dead?

Again, we moved here because it was needed and something interesting at the time. We involved ourselves with threads and a few other guilds that tied in well with us (though I was roughly the only person keeping those ties alive, save for the thread I met Nar on).

so yea, I think we should stay here for now because, imo at least, the RP is going fine, it's just that we're busy on and off so the RP is really relaxed/slowed down atm

@ooka: oh ok rofl
so we're still waiting on her post, right?

I suppose so, she hasn't reacted to mail yet.

oooo cool guy using the edit button here

Hell yes I'm awesome. Did it entirely on purpose, lol

I know how that is, but with my character being so minor before, I just jumped in and hoped for the best, something 'd like to reinforce in people as we get people in. Yes it's a tight knit group thus far, but why not jump in and loosen things up a bit?

I was pretty good at doing those. sweatdrop

Me and Kohyoh were just talking about that a little bit ago. She was kinda hoping stepping back from it, but she has no idea how to bring that about. We'll so how that goes.

That is hard, but it can be done! I am on all the time, I mentioned that before. Once we move along, and I get Yoh re-introduced, I have no problem in taking a leave to start the recruitment office. I could bring Kohyoh and her hubby along with as well to help out. All it takes is a little dedication, and I got plenty of that I believe.

In short, if the general populace of this guild is against it, then it doesnt need happen, and we'll figure out a new way. If the general populace is alright with it, then we can give it a try. If it doesnt work, then like I said before, we can go bac to the way things were and try a different way.

I'm targeting this one since I'm fine with the others.

Cut them out whole. No ties to Uchiha, Hidden Leaf/mist/rain/etc., no Bijuu...none of that. I only introduced that aspect to Tut to keep people in check which is why I rarely ever fought in the GNA and even outside I used Tut's ACTUAL aspects. Honestly though, I wish I never had to make that choice, even more so since it got me quite a bit of hate from other people. But, I digress.

Start with the basics. Before people learn techniques, they learn how to actually fight hand to hand, then with weapons, then with elements and tricks of the eye. That was how I liked training my pupils, though I wish we had more time to get in depth with it. The human anatomy is an amazing thing, learning it...even more so in this style setting of a RP...really helps.

I'm gonna lump hand to hand and weapons together as basics. Next would be a style that Rai, Seph and a few others pounded into me when I first started: Control your element. Learn it, learn the tricks, make it breathe. Example:

Ho - Fire uses air as a fuel source, but more so the oxygen in the air. Learn your weakness.
Kaze - Wind doesn't always need oxygen, but add enough and you can turn your enemy's fireball into a whirling blaze and send it into one of their comrades.
Mizu - Water is based on CO2, carbon and Oxygen. Mix with wind, turn the temperature down and use ice needles. This in turn renders a question...Does Ho actually use ignition or temperature rising to cause this effect? Original GNA would say it does both. Which is why Ho and Mizu are so close when it comes to altering the atmosphere.

Get my long a** point? The more you know, the better you become. The better you become, the better the guild is seen and is.

Tutsumi Hy

I understand what you mean, it just gets hard when people like that style of naruto-like role playing, versus the in-depth role-playing/training examples you just provided.

These days people are not as patient and want to get into the tricks and abilities.

I'm not in disagreement with you, by the way, just pointing out what i have noticed as of late.Something we'd have to drill into an and all new recruits.

So how do we decide this? Should we make a poll, and let it be anonymous voting? Or a simple yay and nay here?

Fujiwara-Sai_V2

sweatdrop Trust me, I know this all too well. I've done several types of RP, from casual (an ex brought me to Gaia to RP with her in a catgirl/boy thread), to army, to making my own guild, to having a member of my guild tell me about the GNA which I made a second home, to becoming head of the Gaian Army, to moving around the FFA forums and you know what? Every step made me become better at writing, thinking, and becoming more creative. That's the kind of person I personally wish would come here to RP.

As for decision, I'd say make it a thread with yay or nay after it's actually had its game plan revealed. You guys are the Captain, Vice Captain, and Crew of this Guild now. I'm here if you want my opinion, but otherwise...it'd probably best I just keep my mouth shut until you guys work it out from here on.
